Lockdown: Uncertainty can’t define believers – Adefarasin

    By Adeola Ogunlade

The senior pastor, House on the Rock, Paul Adefarasin, has urged believers to build their faith in God amidst the socio-economic challenges of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), on the back of the lockdown initiated to curb the spread of the pandemic. “Uncertainty do not have to define your life at this moment because God is the one certainty in your conner.”

Adefarasin stated this at the recently concluded Word Conference 2020, themed, ‘Exceeding Grace in Uncertain Time.’ According to him, the shutdown in itself was a problem because everything across the world was shutdown, which created a general feeling of anxiety resulting in general uncertainty as it concern the future.

“Change is a part of life and history; but the difficulty in the midst of change is the uncertainty, because there are not certainty as to what will happen as a result of these changes,” said Adefarasin.

Whiling teach on the place of faith and grace in christendom on the final day of the conference, Adefarasin said great faith receives great grace.

According to him, faith is that violence force (spiritually) to take anything that grace has made available to the believer. “Exceeding faith receives exceeding grace, that is, you cannot work in exceeding grace in certain time unless you feed your faith in certain ways correctly,” Adefarasin said.

The senior pastor House on the Rock said grace is how God expresses his love; grace is how he manifest his love.  “God’s love appear to man through grace,” said Adefarasin stating that his love for us is not based on what we are, but on who he is.

According to him, grace has many ways to free believers, hence in receiving grace, believers must appreciate that the law impedes their faith for grace.

‘Living on godly principles impacts society positively’

    By Adeola Ogunlade

The Senior Pastor of Praise Arena, Kingdom Light Christian Centre , Lekki Lagos, Pastor Jummy Adetoyese-Olagunju, has urged Nigerian Christians to imbibe the life of Christ by living an evidence based life, stating that living a daily life based on biblical principles can impact the society positively.

According to Adetoyese-Olagunju, the more we choose to be righteous as believers, there will be great reward as a living proof that miracle is real.

Adetoyese-Olagunju in a message themed, ‘Building a Better Society, Choosing to Make a Difference’ said, Righteous living is about the individual and not about collective grouping of the church hence, the true meaning of the church is the people that have been called out,”.

Adetoyese-Olagunju in his response to the question on why we have crisis in the society with high level of ungodliness despite having many churches and people professing to be Christians, stated that most godly nations are built on biblical principles.

He stressed that when a society upheld godly principles, things like xenophobia, racism,  intolerance and spread of misinformation will be reduce and instead of people being hostile: small gesture. can create positive force on others.

He said “people are not born to be racist,  tribalists or dislike someone else, they learn it along the way and that brings in the biases.

He lamented the spate of churches in Nigeria who have become mere religious centre, as Christainity remains a way of life, noting that churches to be alive to their responsibility of being the ideal transformation centre.

Adetoyese-Olagunju said the physical church building should no longer be focusing on religious activities  but should a place to build rigtheous,  humane and kind hearted people needed for nation’s transformation.

“We are covenant children, destined to succeed, we are the light of the world, we choose to make a difference should our daily watchward as Christians in this perilous times”, he said.

  • Kingdom advancement Prayer: Every believer’s responsibility!

Kingdom advancement Prayer: Every believer’s responsibility!

    By Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Kingdom Advancement Prayer: Every Believer’s Responsibility!

From Scriptures, we discovered that Kingdom advancement prayer is a commandment. As it is written, After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:9-10). Also, we must understand that the prayer altar is the sharpest of all sickles of harvest with capacity to birth a nation at once. The Bible records, Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children (Isaiah 66:7-8). Furthermore, we saw how on mount Carmel, the whole of Israel exclaimed, The LORD, he [is] the God; the LORD, he [is] the God through the prayer ministry of Elijah (1 Kings 18:39; see also James 5:17). That was how a whole nation bowed to the effectual fervent prayer of a man. Also, when Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, the king passed a decree saying, …That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babylon (Daniel 3:29-30; see also Daniel 6:10). We also saw that the Apostles were constantly in prayers and they responded to the threats of the people with prayers. The Bible says, And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word (Acts 4:29). We saw them gathered together in Solomon’s porch praying (Acts 5:12, 14, 6:4, 7). So, Kingdom advancement prayers will keep on advancing the engaging believer until He sets us above all nations of the earth.

It is also important to know that the multitudes drawn into the Kingdom by prayer will always require prayer to see them established in the faith. As it is written, Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God (Colossians 4:12; see also Galatians 4:19). Prayer will bring them in and it will also keep them established.

Moreover, we discovered from the testimony of the Apostles that nothing establishes a believer in the faith like Word encounters and for the Word to keep flowing, we have to keep praying. It is written, Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you (2 Thessalonians 3:1; see also John 6:68). Thus, prayer is what releases the Word and the Word is what establishes the saints (Ephesians 6:18). Furthermore, church growth will require prayer forever; the church cannot keep growing until the saints keep praying. So, we can only keep the church growing by praying. Remember, it is not the length of our prayer but the fervency of engagement.

What is in Praying Kingdom Advancement Prayer for us?

    • Supernatural Favour: Scripture says, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). When anything is added to our lives without asking, it is called favour. The Bible says, Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory (Psalm 102:13-15). Understand that nothing flies like favour!
    • Supernatural Change of Levels/Status: Nehemiah engaged in Kingdom welfare prayer when he heard about the trouble the people were going through in Jerusalem. He fasted many days (Nehemiah 1:1-11) and suddenly, from a cupbearer; he became a governor. The Bible records, Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor (Nehemiah 5:14).
    • Wiping Away of Shame and Reproach: The Bible says, If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will [my] Father honour (John 12:26). When God honours a man, no devil can dishonour him. For it is written, In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince (Proverbs 14:28; see also 1 Samuel 2:30).

In summary, to be a full partaker of these blessings of stewardship, Kingdom advancement prayer must be our priority and lifestyle. But you cannot do that if you are not born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I know I am born again! General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has encouraged institutions of learning to cooperate with the government and make adequate provisions for preventive measures against COVID19.

This, he said, would create safe and conducive environment for students, which he said is the only thing that can facilitate school resumption and move forward the educational sector.

Adeboye spoke when he commissioned integrated Hand Sanitiser Dispensing Machine fabricated by the Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM) at Redemption Camp, Ogun State

Rector of RECTEM, Dr. Stella Mofunanya, said the college, said the machine would be deployed to all entrances to student’s hall of residence, lecture halls, laboratories and workshops among others.

She said this was to ensure adequate preparation for resumption, noting it has also produced nose masks, face shields and alcohol- based hand sanitisers, which would be distributed to the students and staff.

  • Why should kingdom advancement endeavours become our lifestyle?

Why should kingdom advancement endeavours become our lifestyle?

    By Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to another impactful week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Why Should Kingdom Advancement Endeavours Become Our Lifestyle?

We understand from Scriptures that one interesting thing about the gospel is that it is a universal message. It applies to everyone in every nation of the earth.

The impact of the gospel is the same in every nation of the earth. As it is written,  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,  that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

That is why obedience of faith is a universal currency; it will deliver at the same rate in every nation (Revelation 5:9-10). Matthew 6:33 delivers at the same rate in every nation; God is no respecter of persons, colour or race (Acts 10:34; Romans 10:12).

So, he that fear Him and walk uprightly will command the same order of result. Scripture says, And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth (Deuteronomy 28:1).

Why Then, should Kingdom Advancement Endeavours become our lifestyle?

    • It Gets Believers on God’s Payroll which Empowers us to Live Above all Forms of Lack and Want: The Bible says, The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing (Psalm 34:10; see also Matthew 6:33).

So, every soul winner that is committed to the ingathering of souls into the store house is entitled to wages (John 4:35-36).

    • The Labourer is Worthy of His Hire: The Bible records, For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you.

And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny (Matthew 20:1-10). Thus, He does not pay leaders, founders or titleholders; He pays labourers.

Each one shall be rewarded according to his own labour. Interestingly, God charge those who hire labourers without paying them.

The Bible says, Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth (James 5:4). That means, we should not ever hire a labourer we would not pay; otherwise, God can bring judgement on us.

In conclusion, settle down and work because nothing works except we work it. So, pursuing the agenda of Kingdom enlargement empowers us to operate in the realm where we lack nothing.

This is because God pays His labourers and He pays on time. However, you have to be born again in order to operate in this realm.

Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today.

I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour.

  • Covid-19: Church is not dangerous place – Faseru

Covid-19: Church is not dangerous place – Faseru

    By Adeola Ogunlade

The National  Superintendent of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Femi Faseru has called on church leaders to appeal to the government to recede their action and open the church as the church is not a dangerous place but a place of comfort, healing and refuge for the troubled.

Faseru said this at a National Broadcast recently at the KICC National Headquarters, Maryland, Lagos, said that the church is not a dangerous place, but a place of power and refuge for the downtrodden, sick, despondent and a place where God still answer prayers, except that which we preach we don’t believe.

He said “If we believe that which will preach as God’s servants, the church is supposed to be a place of power and a place where we build the faith of people against coronavirus.

The place where wisdom will flow and someone will be inspired to come up with a vaccine that will help to defeat the hydra headed Coronavirus.

According to him, the church remains a place where God himself can raise champions that will help the government to defeat the Goliath that we are faced with. That is what the church is.

He continued: “the church is not a place where will desert in the day of trouble. A church is a place to come to in the days of trouble.

The church is a place where we all come together and cry with one voice and God’s will, as he has promised will hear us”.

He noted that there is a reason where Jesus told his disciples to hang on at the upper room. There is reason because the bible says one will chase a thousand and another will chase 10, 000 to flight. There is a reason where we come together in one place where we praise and pray to God together.

Faseru said “God want to hear our cry together in unity and in unison. The government should give us the opportunity to work in our calling and be responsible to the position we have been given to by God as God’s servants in this society.

He opined that the church is on lock down but the gospel of Jesus cannot be on lock down. There is a difference.

That we are able to preach the gospel is no reason for the continued lock down of the church. What about discipleship, iron sharpens iron, accountability, adding that there is much more we do in church than preaching and collecting tithe and offering.

He asked who lock the church down when the markets are opened, public buses are working and offices are open and every opportunity or avenue for Internally Generated Revenue for the government are opened, who lock the church down?.

He continued: “What is spiritual justification for the church to be on lock down. That God cannot heal the diseases anymore, while are we comfortable”?

He reminded the church leaders that their ministry is a calling and not a career. We are called to build, pull down, plant, uproot.

Are you fulfilling your calling. The bus driver, bankers are fulfilling their calling and government is trying to fulfill their calling.

He said that for the sake of the elect and those who are supposed to occupy these pews, we have responsibility to nurture, develop, grow and reform the people so they can fulfill destiny.
