  • Exercising mastery over sicknesses and diseases!

Exercising mastery over sicknesses and diseases!

    By Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to another impactful week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Exercising Mastery Over Sicknesses and Diseases!

From Scriptures, we understand that mastery over sicknesses and diseases is real and not a slogan. This is the will of the Father for the redeemed and is expected to be the lifestyle of every child of God.

Thus, in this world of terror and torment, it is still possible to live a sickness-free life. If we understand that, we will never be a victim to sickness.

For instance, in 1979, when I had an understanding of a sickness-free life from the Bible, I began to live in the reality of a healthy life.  That can also be your testimony if you engage the truth of this message.

No doubt, abundance without health equals lack because whatever wealth we are able to amass is eventually eaten up by sickness. When a man’s health is challenged, everything he has loses value. That is why a wise man once said, ‘Health is wealth’.

However, for every child of God, our case is different. This is because at redemption, Christ paid for our healing, health and wholeness. For instance, the Bible says, That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare [our] sicknesses (Matthew 8:17; see also Isaiah 53:4-5; Jeremiah 33:6). This connotes that Jesus has already paid the price and thereby settled our wholeness for life.

Moreover, every child of God has a covenant of divine health with the Father. Therefore, sicknesses, diseases, pains and sufferings are not the will of God for us; rather He desires a healthy life for us. God is not only concerned about our spirits and souls but also our bodies.

This is why the Bible says, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (3 John 2). As we all know, God does not speak empty words; He means what He says and says what He means.

He couldn’t have said, ‘…I am the LORD that health thee’ if He hadn’t made adequate provisions for our health (Exodus 15:26). The same day we were delivered from sin, our bodies were also delivered from the torture and torment of sicknesses and diseases.

Thus, if you are born again, health and vitality, strength and vigour are your portion. In addition, concerning Israel’s 40-year journey in the wilderness, the Bible records that their clothes and shoes did not wax old (Deuteronomy 29:5).

It is also written, He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes (Psalm 105:37). In the above scripture, the Psalmist was referring to the Church in the wilderness and by that account it was clear how God brought them out with strength.

Throughout their 40-year journey, there was no sick person among their tribe.  That’s our heritage in God, as a spiritual Israelite.

In summary, if you are a child of God, you are in God’s priority list for complete health, thereby making you master over sicknesses.

This may sound simple, but powerful and unbeatable. Therefore, we shouldn’t allow the devil confuse us regarding the simplicity of the gospel. If not, we will miss out on the manifestations of our worth in redemption.

Nevertheless, mastery over sicknesses and diseases is only reserved for the redeemed. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so.

Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me! Now, I know I am born again! Etsu Nupe urges clerics to intensify prayer

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has admonished Nigerians to intensify prayer for divine intervention in the current global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Abubakar, who is the Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, made the call while addressing a selected group of Islamic preachers and Imams of Juma’at mosques yesterday in his palace in Bida.

The monarch noted that with fervent prayers by Muslim Ummah and adherents of other religions in the country, God would certainly intervene to end the pandemic.

He said that the last 10 days of the Holy month of Ramadan was an auspicious time to pray against calamities and for peace, unity and socio-economic prosperity of Nigeria.

The Royal father urged the Muslim faithful to sustain the noble lessons of patience, piety, perseverance and love learnt during the current month of Ramadan.

“We should strive to maintain all the God-fearing acts we exhibited during the fasting period.

“As Muslims, we must strive to maintain all the good deeds we manifested and shun the evil acts we abstained from during the holy month.

“Such good behaviours include abstaining from adultery, cheating, stealing, alcoholism, drug abuse and other secret sins.

“I pray that almighty Allah accepts our prayers during the Ramadan,” he said.

He appealed to wealthy Muslims in the country to assist the less privileged with food items and other basic needs.

He also urged Muslims to always pray for national peace, progress and tolerate one another for sustained unity in the country.

He noted that the two major religions in the country preached peace, unity and love, stressing that without peace and unity, socio-economic development would continue to elude any society.

The royal father called on leaders at all levels to lead the people with the fear of God reminding them that they would all account for their deeds on the day of reckoning.

UK regulator sanctions Oyakhilome for ‘airing harmful statements’

     Adeola Ogunlade

THE United Kingdom’s Communications Regulator, Ofcom, has sanctioned LoveWorld Television Ministry, a Christian network founded by Chris Oyakhilome, for airing “potentially harmful statements” about the COVID-19 pandemic.

ln a statement, Ofcom said that the programmes aired in early April by Oyakhilome’s LoveWorld perpetuated baseless conspiracy that the virus is linked to the roll-out of 5G phone networks and insinuations of a “global cover-up”.

Ofcom said the LoveWorld programme also echoed claims from US President Donald Trump that an anti-malaria drug, hydroxychloroquine, was a cure for the virus.

“LoveWorld News featured potentially harmful statements about the Coronavirus pandemic and adequate protection was not provided to viewers,” it said.

“We have imposed a sanction on the broadcaster, requiring it to broadcast statements of our findings. We are considering whether to impose any further sanction,” Ofcom added.

Oyakhilome’s Loveworld, also known as Christ Embassy, is based in Lagos, but has operations in several countries across the world, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

The church has at least 90 branches in the UK and an estimated 13 million followers around the world, according to one estimate.

In footage of sermons circulated on social media during the pandemic, Oyakhilome was seen criticising lockdown measures and casting aspersions on the value of a vaccine.

Ofcom said there is no prohibition on broadcasting controversial views, which diverge from, or challenge, official authorities on public health information.

“Given these serious failings, we conclude that Loveworld Limited did not adequately protect viewers from the potentially harmful content in the news programme and the sermon, and the news reports were not duly accurate. We have directed Loveworld Limited to broadcast statements of our findings and are now considering whether to impose any further sanction.”

  • Prophet defends Fufeyin over COVID-19 disappearance prediction

Prophet defends Fufeyin over COVID-19 disappearance prediction

    By John Ofikhenua, Abuja

A Nigerian cleric, Pastor Gideon Isah, has defended Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Warri, Delta State, over allegations by an Ivorian atheist, that his prophecy on the COVID pandemic was false and never came to pass.

In a statement on Sunday, Fufeyin recalled that he had predicted that the novel COVID-19 pandemic currently ravaging the world would gradually disappear across the world, beginning from the end of April.

But, in a reaction to the prediction, an Ivorian atheist, Yanick Aka, in a widely circulated video on social media negated the March 21 prophecy of Fufeyin, describing the prediction as unfulfilled.

Aka was reported to had also insulted Fufeyin as well as other acclaimed Men of God, calling them all sorts of names and making disturbing accusations.

Isah, in an apparent defence of his spiritual father, said Fufeyin’s prediction had came to pass and events currently happening around the world lend credence to that.

According to him, the prophecy was very precise and had clearly stated that the pandemic would gradually starts to end in 38 days, from country to country, and that would occur batch by batch.

“Evidence also clearly shows that this has been the case since late April”, he stated.

The pastor who recalled how Fufeyin predicted the coming of the pandemic in 2014 and 2016, respectively, urged members not to be led astray by “lies of a messenger sent by the enemy of the Body of Christ.”

He described Aka as a psychopath and a puppet to his spiritual father and sponsor, Kacou Philippe, who he said was a highly controversial troublemaker who was convicted and imprisoned in 2016 for his “misleading, satanic and mischievous practices, and subsequently banned from preaching in many countries, for 5 years.”

“The self- proclaimed “Prophet- Messenger” also has four children from four different women, and still had the nerve to use his puppet to point accusing fingers at other men of Faith, because he himself had been banned from continuing his Antichrist activities”, he added.

He stated that things such as going to the mountain to pray or dancing to the glory of God, were things done by the Fathers of Faith, in days of old, and were therefore biblical God-approved practices for men of God to carry out.

Isah declared that the wrath of God would be meted out upon men who tried to distort the word of God in their favor and claim to be demigods on earth as they were Worshiped by their follower.

According to him, Aka and his spiritual father must show proof of how they have been helping their nation and congregation to survive the COVID-19 Lockdown measures, before pointing accusing fingers at men who are making enormous impact, in this period.

He attested to Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin making massive donations and giveaways to the needy, and to assist the Federal Government

  • Is there no Balm in Gilead?

Is there no Balm in Gilead?

    Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to another exciting week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Is There No Balm in Gilead?

We discover from Scriptures that health stands out as one of the greatest assets in life. When a man’s health is challenged, everything he has loses value. A wise man once said, ‘Health is wealth’. Moreover, life at its best will be theoretical without health. As it is written, Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered (Jeremiah 8:22). In the world today, healthcare is one of the costliest services; however, God has a full healthcare package for His children. The Bible says, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (3 John 1:2). Jesus Christ paid the price for our total health. That is, He shed His Blood for the remission of our sins and restoration of our health and vitality (1 Corinthians 6:20; 1 Peter 2:24). Furthermore, by redemption, we have been repositioned above all principalities and powers, who are the oppressors of our bodies. Therefore, sicknesses and diseases are not permitted to torment our bodies (Ephesians 1:20-21, 2:6; Colossians 1:13). Moreover, the Bible says, Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:4-5; see also Matthew 8:17). Therefore, Jesus is not just the Saviour of our souls but also our bodies (Ephesians 5:23). However, many have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour but not as their Healer. Until we receive Him consciously as our Healer, our health challenges will continue.  For instance, we are told that the woman with the issue of blood in the Bible suffered in the hands of physicians for twelve years without a cure until she met Jesus and she was healed instantly (Mark 5: 25-29). Also, King Asa was diseased in his feet and according to scriptures, he sought not the Lord but resorted to consulting physicians and he died in that sickness (2 Chronicles 16: 12).

We must understand that Jesus is the ultimate in our quest for health as He offers free healthcare without side effects and does not refer any case to anyone. He has authority over all manner of sicknesses and diseases and specialises in healing everyone (Matthew 12:14-15; Mark 10:27). No wonder He introduced Himself in scriptures as the Great Physician. It is written, But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick… (Matthew 9:12). Just as doctors have prescriptions for certain illnesses, Jesus, the Great Physician, also has His prescriptions for our total health. While Jesus is the Great Physician, the revelation of the Word is His one of the great prescriptions for our total health (Proverbs 4:20-22; John 8:32, 36). God’s Word is the Balm in Gilead and it is the medication for our healing, health and wholeness. God’s Word contains healing virtues that impacts on every organ in our bodies and turns our health challenges into testimonies.

In conclusion, the restoration of our health draws on the revelation of the truth from God’s Word. That is, it takes the revelation (light) of the Word to be free from the harassment of sicknesses and diseases. There is no healing that took place in the Bible outside the Word of God. It is an all-purpose drug for the healing of any ailment! Remember that every attack of sickness and disease are operations of the powers of darkness but when we access the light of God through His Word, we conquer without sweat. This is because the dominion of light over darkness is instant and unquestionable. That is why every outbreak of revelation guarantees supernatural healing and instant restoration of our health (Job 33:21-25; Isaiah 58:8; John 1:5). Thus, when we look to the Great Physician and subscribe to His great prescription, our health issues are turned to testimonies. However, this can only be possible when you are born again. • We’ve to remain careful, calm on reopening churches – Pastor Sam Adeyemi

We’ve to remain careful, calm on reopening churches – Pastor Sam Adeyemi

    By Alao Abiodun

Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre Lagos, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, has urged Christians to remain calm during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adeyemi, who expressed displeasure over the devastating effect of the pandemic, said he is pained churches are closed.

He however said everyone must bear with the situation and hold on for a while.

Adeyemi who spoke during an Instagram live interview tagged “iforowero” with BBC News Yoruba monitored by The Nation, said: “This is a world wide issue, pastors are clamouring for the reopening of churches”. While giving an illustration of how a church in South Korea got affected by the outbreak, he said, “the church members were badly hit by this infectious disease and the pastor had to go about seeking for forgiveness.”

“Even if there is going to social distancing in our churches, how many service are we going to hold? Looking at the differences between churches with big number of members. We have to be careful and remain calm because there is no vaccine yet… As a preacher, I travel all around but I have remained indoors with my family.”

While speaking on his church’s efforts so far in taking care of its members during this period, he said, “The money contributed was what the church used in taking care of the church members.

“We must take care of the people around us, just like the scripture… When a leader is far away from his followers, they won’t feel what they are going through.”

“There is a way Jesus Christ taught us to be as leaders of the church, Jesus told us to be humble and treat the people well. I was well taught in the aspect of leadership”.

Adeyemi however commended the efforts of the government so far, especially the Lagos state government for their continuous fight against the outbreak.

He expressed mixed feelings over government’s lockdown relaxation, saying “they should have not relaxed the lockdown but due to shout of hunger. Sadly, many flouted the social distancing rule”.

He however urged everyone to support the government and stay indoors.

“If you have no where to go, just stay indoors. I stand with staying indoors though it might take long, but we just have to bear,” he stressed.

While speaking on the post COVID-19 survival for churches, he expressed fears that things might not be the same as before.

According to him: “When I think of the situation, many are now watching online service, many have seen the flexibility of worshipping from the comfort of their houses and might jettison the idea of going to church physically after all of this is over. It has brought about weariness.

“Also, with the way things are going, many church members are even displeased with their churches for forsaking them during this period and not taking care of them in their own little way, it might come back to haunt some of these churches.”

  • Oyemade disagrees with Oyedepo, Oyakhilome on closure of churches

Oyemade disagrees with Oyedepo, Oyakhilome on closure of churches

     Samuel Oamen

THE Senior Pastor of The Covenant Christian Centre Lagos, Pastor Poju Oyemade, has disagreed with prominent preachers against the continuous closure of churches over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Though the lockdown has been eased in Lagos, Ogun and FCT, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered worship centres will remain shut till further notice.

But founder of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, slammed the authorities for closing churches, saying they should be healing centres.

Founder of Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, backed Oyakhilome, stating the continuous closure of churches was suspicious.

According to him, it was part of the moves to stop the church of God from expanding.

But Oyemade, whose birthday on his Instagram page, said the closure of churches does not in any way stop the Holy Spirit from working.

Read Also: Oyedepo: we did not flout government’s directive

Making reference to the Bible, he said: “The sick healed in the book of Acts were healed on the streets, in people’s homes, in public places and not within the four walls of a Church.”

He added: “Closing the doors of a physical building does not in any way mean the closure of the anointing of the Spirit from working.

“Church buildings may be shut down but true faith and the anointing of the Spirit has not stopped working.

“There is a difference between expression of emotions and the manifestation of the anointing to heal the sick.

“There is nowhere in Jesus’s ministry where the healing of the sick was preceded by a congregational service.

“In the Book of Acts, the sick were healed predominantly on the streets with no fanciful service going on.

“Closure of a church building does not stop the rivers of living water from flowing out of your belly. It resides in our inner man.

“There was collective prayer to receive a supply of the Spirit which led to outdoor manifestations.

He referred to Apostle Paul insisting Christians don’t have to be together in a physical space to receive that supply.

“Did he not say to the Church at Phillipi, I know this shall turn to my salvation through your prayers and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus? The Church was miles away from where Paul was.

“Charles Finney began a massive revival by people praying in their homes all keeping watches at the same time. They all chose the exact time to pray and they did in their homes until the Spirit broke out on the streets.

“They did not criticise any other Church or ministry of weakness. Criticizing others doesn’t attest to the fact that you have strength. They only stayed with God until something broke out on the streets.”

  • You Don’t Have to Be Sick!

You Don’t Have to Be Sick!

    Dr. David Oyedepo

WELCOME to another impactful week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: You Don’t Have to Be Sick!

We discovered from Scriptures that the day Jesus died, He did not only pay the price for our sins; He also paid for our sicknesses. As it is written, But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). As He was being beaten, the price for our divine health was being paid. So, we can’t be enslaved again by sickness. We must understand that it is possible to live on earth absolutely free from sicknesses and diseases. In other words, by covenant, we are not supposed to have anything to do with sicknesses and diseases. Therefore, the hour has come for God to separate us from sickness forever! Remember, we are not permitted to go through what the people in the world go through. That is God’s promise in Exodus 15:26, …If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee. Jesus fully paid the price for us to be healthy, strong and sound. The Bible says, For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s (1 Corinthians 6:20). The same day, over 2,000 years ago, when He was being beaten and His blood oozed from His flesh was the same day the price was fully paid for a healthy and strong life. Friends, the price had been paid! We don’t pay for an item twice. No! The price for our liberty has been fully paid; the devil cannot reclaim it! Our bodies are now to glorify God, not the devil. So, whatever is not glorifying God in our bodies is making a mockery of the price Jesus paid.

We also understand that one of the blessings that must come our way as a result of service is divine health; blessings always follow service. The Bible records, And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil (Exodus 23:25-26). When the Apostles were here on earth, not one of them was ever reported sick. Thus, to know the will of God for us, we should look up to Jesus whom Colossians 1:15 refers to as ‘the image of the invisible God’. Jesus was never ill; even though, He was a workaholic. He was as sound as a stone! Thus, demonstrating to us what divine nature is all about. He never suffered from any ailment. Divine nature flowed in His veins. Hence, until we become angry with sickness, we won’t walk in divine health.

Furthermore, we discover that behind every sickness is satan; it is never from God. No! For it is written, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17; see also Job 34:10, 12). Friends, as long as we mistake that sickness, disease and affliction to be from God, we remain in bondage. That was what prolonged Job’s suffering; he kept thinking that it was from God. The Bible says, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Jesus does not take anything from us rather He came to give us in excess everything we will ever need in life.

In summary, let’s stop nursing sickness because Jesus has paid the price for our total health package in redemption. Therefore, fight that sickness and give no place to the devil. Friends, it’s time to make a choice. However, to do this, first, you must be born again.
