Adefarasin, Jakes host Word Conference 2020

    Our Reporter

The seventh edition of the annual Word Conference by Pastor Paul Adefarasin’s House on the Rock (HOTR) is to end on Sunday.

The annual conference kicked off online on Wednesday.

It held exclusively online for the first time in its seven-year history due to the restrictions imposed by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The restrictions however, did not stop thousands from feasting on the word of God.

The 2020 theme ‘Exceeding grace in uncertain times’ is to equip believers with the richer concepts of God’s grace on how to thrive in this season of uncertainty.

Despite no physical gathering of any sort, thousands of virtual attendees have been streaming the various sessions of the Word Conference from the comfort of their homes, from different parts of the globe.

The church utilised its various social media platforms to connect with its congregation and other attendees including its website, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages.

With the international travel restrictions currently in place, the Church continued in its long-standing tradition of featuring insightful teachings of Bible precepts by world-renowned gospel Ministers.

Speakers who have ministered are: Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Convener and Senior Pastor of House On the Rock Churches, his co-Pastor Ifeanyi Adefarasin, Bishop T. D. Jakes, Dr Creflo Dollar and Dr Mensa Otabil.

The ministrations were also accompanied with musical performances by award-winning international and indigenous artistes such as Tye Tribbett, Travis Greene, Sonnie Badu, Nathaniel Bassey, The HOTR Church choir and The Lagos Metropolitan Gospel Choir (LMGC).

General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has encouraged institutions of learning to cooperate with the government and make adequate provisions for preventive measures against COVID19.

This, he said, would create safe and conducive environment for students, which he said is the only thing that can facilitate school resumption and move forward the educational sector.

Adeboye spoke when he commissioned integrated hand sanitiser dispensing machine fabricated by the Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM) at Redemption Camp, Ogun State.

Rector of RECTEM, Dr. Stella Mofunanya, said the college, said the machine would be deployed to all entrances to student’s hall of residence, lecture halls, laboratories and workshops among others.

She said this was to ensure adequate preparation for resumption, noting it has also produced nose masks, face shields and alcohol- based hand sanitisers, which would be distributed to the students and staff.

  • ‘Lockdown big opportunity for gospel musicians’

‘Lockdown big opportunity for gospel musicians’

Popular gospel singer, Evangelist Funmi Aragbaiye, speaks with Tosin Adesile on her life at 66. The President of Gospel Musician Association of Nigeria, (GOMAN) also offered advice to gospel ministers on doing God’s work during COVID-19. Excerpts:

How do you feel at 66?

I feel thankful to God Almighty for sparing my life to witness 66. I started almost 35 years ago. Since I became a celebrity, one has passed through a lot of challenges.

I never knew I can be as relevant as I or I will even be alive to see this day. So, I am thanking God for his grace upon my life.

How has it been singing all these years?

Those evergreen songs you hear, most of them were composed in 1983 when God gave me a vision. He opened my eyes to see what is happening in Nigeria ahead.

I started counting from the time when my first album was released which was in 1988. Though, I have been singing since early 70s when I was in Ilorin, Kwara state.

What has been happening with GOMAN?

We have been able to change the face of the association since we took over. We started with an elaborate inauguration after that we have held several workshops and seminars.

The last one we did, we had it at the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu which featured youth empowerment as part of efforts for national development. In fact, the President of Nigeria was ably represented at that occasion.

We have organised prayers for the nation and for security and I can tell that a week after the session, kidnapping and banditry subsided in South West.

A week to that time or month before that time, we had top people being kidnapped along Akoko, Owo Road, Ilesha and they all stopped. These are signs that God answers our prayers and supplications.

Any plans to collaborate with one of the young artistes? Are you planning to come out with something different in form of collaboration?

Yes! I am planning to do that if not for the coronavirus pandemic, which necessitated the lockdown and safety guidelines, I would had done something this year. I will drop something by God’s next year.

Advice for gospel music minister during COVID-19?

My advice to them is they should use this period as an opportunity to compose new songs and get closer to God. You know since we are on lockdown, we should utilise the time to do more beautiful things.

Do you have any bible verse you want to send out this period?

Isaiah 66: 1 says “Arise and shine for light has come…” All upcoming gospel artists should arise and shine. Nigeria should arise and shine even at this period. After lockdown, instead of everybody going down, God will lift all of us up.

  • ‘We need home grown solution to tackle COVID-19’

‘We need home grown solution to tackle COVID-19’

As the country gradually eases the three-month old lockdown due to Covid-19, Presiding Bishop of Holy Ghost Mission ( (Happy Family Centre), Bishop Charles Ighele, spoke to Adeola Ogunlade about his perception of the lock down, leadership displays by public officials, the place of God in tackling Covid-19 and the need for a home grown solution to the pandemic

What is your perception about the Coronavirus pandemic and the lock down that has ravage the world in the last three months?

Three months down the line, it is evident that the pandemic is real and from the beginning, I knew that it is real and is a plague like some other plague that have come before and then, those that will still come again in fulfillment of the signs of the end time.

This one has come and is still there. It is real. Also, I was able to discover different times of leaders, Presidents, Prime Ministers of nations, Governors of states and the way they reacted in Nigeria and other countries.

I saw that there are some leaders who handle the matter of the plague very well and they provider leadership in place of fear.

If a leader is leading out of fear, there will be a problem; there will be no hope for the people. A leader must not lead the people out of fear even if there is a problem, a leader gives people hope.

I am not saying that the problem should be played down, because if you played it down, you are deceiving the people. Leaders must let the people know that there is a problem, and proffer solutions on how to overcome it.

In some of the states in Nigeria, it is evident that the lock down was done out of fear, so the fear went down from the leaders to the people.

I also saw that some leaders were listening to a lot to locally and international news outlets whose job was to broadcast what was happening and then, you know that in journalism, bad news sells more than good news.

So, many headlines were about the disaster and the tragedies around Coronavirus. So, even when some people were given hope the hope were dashed.

Do you know that some leaders and governors were fed with some of the news from these stations and they now pass it down the fear to the people.

Some of the lock down were done out of fear and not out of any realization of what do we do as a nation to provide a home grown solution. So, some acted out of fear and ignorance.

Also, some leaders were ready to bring home grown solution and handle the fear and see how the economy will go on a little and not totally lock down.

The United State of America President, some Governors in USA and some leaders in other countries acted that way.

Yet, there were some leaders who try to balance it and see what is peculiar to their nature to handle the pandemic, what I called the homegrown solution.

The total lock down is not a home grown solution. Thirdly, another set of leaders, all they gave to their people was only hope as if nothing was happening, whereas something was really happening.

The pandemic was there. It is a scam for those leaders to says nothing was happening whereas the pandemic was there ravaging among the people.

If you are a leaders, am a spiritual leaders, I know what I did to provide leadership for my people in the churches that I pastor.

I had to use a leadership style on what to do to stand with the understanding that there is a problem and how to handle it. I learnt how to stay emotionally and spiritually.

In your study of plagues in the past, is there any similarity or different with Coronavirus?

The difference is that like the Bubonic plague of 1336, the way its killed people cannot be compared with Coronavirus. Its killed people like Mosquitoes.

People were dyeing and recovery rate of the previous plagues were very low but this Coronavrius plague pandemic, the recovery is very high.

Then, I also I found that with this plague and another plagues was that while people in some nations died more, only few people in other countries died.

There was a plague that was taken from United Kingdom to the United State of America, and unfortunate many people who contacted the virus in USA died whereas, the Europeans that brought it, only few died. That gave me a similar idea about this Coronavirus.

I know that the number of infected persons and casualty recorded in Nigeria is way below the mark in Nigeria.

Like the President Task Force said that in the Eastern part of the country, not much testing is being done.

From what I know and hear, the casualty is by far more than it’s expected. Coronavirus arrived in the US not long its came to Nigeria, how come, over 100,000 have died in the US and we don’t have that figure here in Nigeria.

Then, we can say that America population is more than that of Nigeria but why UK with a lesser population had by far death than Nigeria with a bigger population.

While in India with 1.2 billion people had recorded only about 8,884 death. Why is it so.

As far as I am concerned, leadership in these nations should put our head together and asked why it is so and way are we going.  In my thinking, my mind went to Malaria.

Do we need to develope homegrown solutions to some of our public health challenge?

Why is that the malaria rate is so high in Nigeria that in most hospitals most of the patients there are people down with malaria or Typhoid fever.

I am not advocating that we should not spend our time on doing research on Coronavirus but let governments do something and come out with drugs that can treat malaria that will be nonresistance.

We need more research and attention to malaria.

Nigeria is one of the headquarters of malaria sickness in the whole world, then, let us have home grown solutions and we should stop imported drugs from the Arabian countries.

Many of the drugs will import from those countries are resistance, let government if they really care about our people, let them go and research on why and what can be done to produce nonresistance drugs to treat malaria so people don’t died of malaria

Your constituency which is the church and has been locked down for few months; I know you and some other church leaders are averse to this lock down of the church? Why?

The people have different perception about the church. There are churches set up by man to make money, and some of them become famous.

There are also churches set by Satan and there are churches that have power and some that lack power. In all these, there remains a genuine church of Christ.

Jesus said that I will build my church and the gate of hell shall not prevail against it. I am saying that the genuine church of Christ is there.

I want to say very clearly that some governors acted beyond their powers.  The government is man-made and should know where is power is.

The bible says give unto Caesar what is Caesar and to God, what is God. I want some of them to think again, some of them reacted out of fear.

They should have call the church leaders and ask them what to do. I know some church leaders are friends to some Governors and some governors equally consulted some of the church leaders on whether or not to lock down the church but those church leaders who reacted out of fear advice that the church be locked down.

See the President of Tanzanian, who is a medical doctor, with a PHD in Chemistry recently congratulated the church leaders in His country, saying that they prayed for the people selflessly. And then, the effect of it in Tanzania was very minimal.

He told the people take Holy Communion but in Nigeria, it was a different bulk game. When the governor says don’t give Holy Communion, you are going beyond your power.

Instead, allow the church leaders to look for ways to give Holy Communion without large gathering. Give to Cesar to Cesar and to God, what is to God.

In the midst of the Black Death plague that happened in the 1347, as the people were dying. King George called on the church to continue to pray.

Some Governor think that prayer cannot do anything but when it comes to contesting election, they will say please pray for me.

I want to state here that as the government in finding solution to the pandemic should also consult the church for solution.

There are lots of people who are positive with Coronavirus and they are getting their healing. We must seek God in our search for solution to this pandemic. God cannot fail when we call on him for help.

  • Accessing breakthroughs via kingdom stewardship!

    Accessing breakthroughs via kingdom stewardship!

    By Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to another exciting week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Accessing Breakthroughs via Kingdom Stewardship!

We discovered that every commandment of Scriptures is for our profiting and serving God and the interests of His Kingdom is one of such commandments, which undeniably carries great profits because it guarantees our access to realms of noiseless breakthroughs. For instance, we are commanded to seek first the well-being, advancement and enlargement of the Kingdom and things others are struggling to get shall be ‘sweatlessly’ added to us.  As it is written, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). Therefore, living a Kingdom driven priority life; that is, committing to Kingdom advancement endeavours as our priority for living is our launching pad into a world of wonders. It is a world where we do not have to demand for anything before they are added to us. This is the Kingdom first commandment. Furthermore, seeking God first and the interests of His Kingdom empowers us to live more than a conqueror. This implies that we are not fighting any battle; we are just watching our victories unfolding before our eyes. That is, we are not fighting; yet, we are winning and that is what we call more than a conqueror. We must recognise that a spiritual vaccination of Matthew 6:33 will settle us forever. For instance, we have a lot of needs but we are praying ‘thy Kingdom come’. We may look like a fool but we are on our way to our high places. Peter said to Jesus, …Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting (Luke 18:28-30). Serving God may be costly but the end result is priceless.

Moreover, seeking first the Kingdom of God entitles us to the good hand of God upon our lives. When we serve God with our little strength, He turns it to the strength of a unicorn and when we serve God with our brain, He turns us to a genius. Therefore, invest every available time in the Kingdom. Anna served God daily with prayers and fasting in the temple at the age of eighty-four. Concerning her, the Bible records, And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day (Luke 2:37). Stop serving God on a contract basis; make Him your reason for living! For instance, the mystery of ‘Kingdom first’ is the great secret behind our breakthrough in ministry. Serving God is not a gift; it is absolutely a choice (Joshua 24:15). It is our choice that defines our lot. Also, we get healed by faith but we stay healthy by service. For it is written, Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit (John 15:2). Remember, reconciling people to God makes us ambassadors of Christ and a faithful ambassador is entitled to healthy living (Proverbs 13:17; 2 Corinthians 5:20).

Serving God and the interests of His Kingdom does not only pay the best but it pays the most; that is, it pays the unmatchable (Exodus 23:25). No one serving God in truth is permitted to beg for bread. Thus, the only way to prove that is to seek first the advancement and enlargement of the Kingdom of God and then watch to see whether He is faithful to His Word. However, we cannot prove that without our obedience to that great commandment. Doing whatever the Word commands will commit God to confirm His Word any day, anytime and anywhere in any life. Peter offered his boat and time to serve Jesus (Luke 5:4-7) and he served God into realms of noiseless breakthroughs. So, he graduated from being a fisher of fish to a fisher of men. Thus, it holds a two-way return; which is both in this present time and then in the time to come (eternity). Whatever anybody invests into the Kingdom in terms of time, energy and resources holds present day returns and on top of it, eternal rewards. That is what makes this an overriding commandment.

In summary, there can be no substitute for obedience in our walk with God because obedience is key to experiencing the wonders in the Word. Thus, the stewardship commandment will only deliver its profit by obedience. Therefore, to be able to serve God acceptably, we must be born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I know I am born again! • Of prophecies and the Word of God

Of prophecies and the Word of God

    By Abiodun Odejayi

‘Thus saith the Lord…’ has become a reoccurring fabric in our lives, globally but at a more rampant rate in this geographical expression called Nigeria. There are several worship centres (not just churches) in Nigeria, each having one or several leaders prophesying as often as daily in some of them what God had seemingly sent through them. My focus in this write up are actually Christian worship centres. For a proper understanding, let us start by defining the terms ‘Prophecy’ and ‘The Word of God.’

A prophecy is a message that is claimed by a prophet to have been divinely communicated to them by a deity. Such messages typically involve inspiration, interpretation, or revelation of divine will concerning the prophet’s social world and events to come. (Wikipedia)

A foretelling; prediction; a declaration of something to come. As God only knows future events with certainty, no being but God or some person informed by him, can utter a real prophecy. The prophecies recorded in the Scripture, when fulfilled, afford most convincing evidence of the divine original of the Scriptures, as those who uttered the prophecies could not have foreknown the events predicted without supernatural instruction. (Bible Study Tools).

In its simplest form, one may define prophecy as God speaking to people. Inferring that for such a prophecy to be valid, it must be a message from God! The gift of prophecy is one of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit found in Paul’s writings in 1 Corinthians 12. Apostle Peter also explained the operation of this gift: ‘For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.’ 2 Peter 1:21 (Prophets and Prophecy In Todays Church by Jim and Carolyn Murphy).

The Bible is the word of God. The word of God could also be expressed as a manifestation (clear appearance) of the mind and will of God. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16 that ‘All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.’ Hebrews 4:12 also says that, ‘For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.’

So going through these definitions and a lot other I couldn’t put here for lack of space, the following truths are established.

The Bible had been inspired by God to teach us how to live to please Him and direct our day to day living, including the future. For example, do you know that the boom in the media, telecommunications and global travel had been prophesied by Daniel? (Kindly find time to read the book of Daniel).

Prophecies are messages for the people, given by God through people, including the prophets. In essence, they are prompted by God who has a message for someone or a people, not driven largely by a person as we observe in most cases today.

I just did an exercise and checked on Google, ‘predictions declared in Nigeria since 2010’ and a lot of those predictions were brought up. I went through them and I can tell you a lot of those so called ‘messages from God’, even though time bound had not come to past.

The Bible makes it clear that God’s name is precious to Him, but even at that, He honours His word over and above that precious name. That means, God will not say something that will not come to pass. Psalm 138:2 says ‘..for thou has magnified thy word above all thy name.’ So the question is, why are bulk of these prophecies not coming through? Does it mean that all the said prophecies aren’t really word from God? Or perhaps it is a further confirmation to the fact that Satan, the devil also acts as an angel of light?

The Bible in Jeremiah 28:9 talks about how to know who sent the prophet by his proclamations, actions and antecedents: ‘The prophet who prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the Lord hath truly sent him.’ So a person who says, ‘Thus saith the Lord..’ and his words do not come to pass (no matter how long it took) is not speaking for the Lord.

    “Within the development of the prophetic movement in Israel during the period of the monarchy, there arose two types of prophets. The first type was a group of independent prophets who claimed to speak on behalf of Yahweh and whose primary function was to challenge the awful policies of the king. These prophets also warned the people to return to the old traditions of the covenant. The second type was a group of prophets who were paid by the temple or the court and who proclaimed the kind of message their patrons desired to hear. This group of prophets came to be known as false prophets, not because of their desire to mislead the people, but rather, because they misinterpreted Yahweh’s intentions at times when the nation was facing great dangers. According to Vangemeren (1990), in times of moral darkness, the false prophets, predicting smooth things for the nation, independent of repentance, consecration and the pursuit of spiritual ideas, were honoured above the true prophets who emphasized the moral greatness of Yahweh and the necessity of righteousness for the nation.” {TRUE AND FALSE PROPHECY IN ‘ALL CHRISTIAN PRACTICAL PRAYING BAND (ACPPB)’, UFUMA, IN THE LIGHT OF JEREMIAH 27-28 by Luke E. Ugwueye and Ikenna L. Umeanolue }

Without doubt, there are genuinely gifted men of God. Even though a few of the gifted men of God abuse this gift, there are also a whole lot who render false prophecies or use divination to predict for selfish gains and profit.

Let me state my bias here. I am a bible believing Christian and I search the bible to know the mind of God. I am in no way a perfect being, but I strive daily to meet the expectation of God for my life so His will may always supercede any other will in my life. I have Pastors in my life, who assists in elucidating the truth in the word of God and I respect them. However, I am also concerned about the millions of lives that are being endangered and led astrayed by messages that are actually the imaginations from the mind of the speaker, prophesying for a selfish interest.

The Bible states in Matthew 7:15-18 clearly the importance of the kinds of fruits we exhibit. And a person (prophet) who exhibits the kinds of fruits stated in Proverbs 6:16-19 should be fled from. We must be careful of the kinds of fruits that a prophet is exhibiting. They are warnings about him and his life including prophesies from him. Let’s use the two portions from the Bible above to establish how we can test all prophets and prophecies and there are six things we can deduce from this text.

    A lying tongue.

    Pride (arrogance, sauciness etc.).

Oppression of the weak. James 5:5-6

Wicked heart. Not bothered about the well-being of people suffering around him.

He doesn’t think through before taking actions or saying things.

Tale bearer, causing problems and issues with his tales.

The essence of this write up is not to condemn prophecies because they are required in the true sense of the word. However, the body of Christ is moving the wrong way because a lot of self-seeking churches, pastors and prophets manipulate prophecies and what they stand for. Without indicting anyone, Christendom needs to stand up and be counted.

As an example, White evangelicals in the United States are touting Donald Trump and praising him as the best thing since sliced bread. Are they doing this based on their evaluation of Mr. Trump according to the standards of the Bible or are they also aligning with his racist stance for whatever reason? Was racism one of the positions that made them not support Obama fully? Yes, Obama, just like every human being is not perfect and he took a lot of positions that were against the stand of the Bible.

So what has changed under Mr. Trump, a person whose utterances, actions and stance cannot stand the evaluation of Proverbs 6:16-19. The Washington Post on June 1 2020 in a story written by Glenn Kessler, Salvador Rizzo and Meg Kelly stated that “as at May 29, 2020, Mr. Trumps 1,226th day in office, He had made 19,127 false or misleading claims (which simply means he has lied on those number of times).” The writers went ahead to say that it is no longer a question as to whether he will exceed 20,000 false or misleading claims but that will he top 25,000 by the time this term is completed.

So where the seed of sin abound in a person’s life, such a person is not of God. And the Bible in Galatians 5:19-21 was very clear about the works of the flesh (sin).

As I close, God send prophets with messages / prophecies, for specific people and or occasions. Other purposes are to show that God is God, and to proclaim the Word of God. The Bible, the Word of God is there to guide our everyday living. It is indeed more beneficial, to seek understanding and knowledge of the Word of God because it answers to all issues and needs of our lives, so long as you are a true, born again child of God.

Yes, God does continue to use prophecy and prophets to guide His church. I believe that the Lord wants us to be open but discerning about this aspect of His moving as there are many pitfalls in the use of the gift of prophecy. Do not expose yourself to manipulators in the name of wanting to know the future. Rather, hearken to what the Word of God says in Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

May the peace of God abide with you and grant you understanding. Shalom.

Kwakpovwe, wife celebrate 20th wedding anniversary

    By Gbenga Bada

Publisher of the popular Christian devotional Our Daily Manna, Bishop Chris Kwakpovwe has celebrated his 20th wedding anniversary with his beautiful wife, Rev Mrs. Flora Kwapovwe.

Speaking on what marriage means to him, the Pharmacist-turned-preacher said: “Marriage is the union of a man and a woman joined by God not man. However, not all marriages are joined by God. Some are joined by men via wrong choices.

“Some are even joined by occultic love portions, etc by the grace of God and via the ODM – Our Daily Manna – mission worldwide, I have seen hundreds confess that they actually used charms to marry their spouses. As I am led we have to use prayers to break such charms but i cannot reveal what happened to such marriages after such prophetic prayer encounters. Some things are ministerial secrets I cannot reveal on social media”.

Speaking further on what has kept his union going, Kwakpovwe said: “Papa God has kept us going and most importantly, marriage is work by both parties. Getting married to a man of god may be hard because he may have to resort to his God sometimes for decisions.

“Can you explain why Abraham did not inform Sarah that he was going to sacrifice isaac? not all decisions are taken on the marital bed. Some are taken in a secret place with God. so it takes a woman who understands spiritual principles to be able to marry a called man not just a church man because not all pastors or ministers are truly called. Only God can judge that.”

Having been married for over 20 years, he offered some advice. According to him:  “Marry your friend; don’t marry anybody just because they are christian sisters or brothers. marry your friend. Being a christian is a crucial factor but not the only factor. Marriage is a marathon and not a 100 meters short race.  Marry your friend”.

He also described his wife in glowing terms saying, “She’s a woman that can tolerate me and my “25 hours” a day busy lifestyle. To celebrate this landmark occasion, I’ll be teaching young ones the right facts about happy marriage, secrets and how to cope with marital accidents/injuries based on the word of God and not on church- man-made doctrines life happens! we are not perfect but we can win”.

  • Kingdom stewardship: Gateway to realms of breakthroughs!

Kingdom stewardship: Gateway to realms of breakthroughs!

    Bishop David Oyedepo

WELCOME to July! I have no doubt that many of us must have had an encounter with the supernatural all through the month of June, 2020. My prayer is that your encounter will be for a lifetime and you will begin to operate in the realm of the supernatural ‘sweatlessly’, in Jesus name! This week, we shall focus on: Kingdom Stewardship: Gateway to Realms of Breakthroughs!

From Scriptures, we understand that a covenant to serve God with all our heart, soul and body is the gateway to a world of all-round fulfilment. Concerning Judah, the Bible records, And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets. And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about (2 Chronicles 15:12-15). As a result of their covenant to serve God, there was no more war (2 Chronicles 15:19). Also, stewardship is ordained for profitability. As it is written, In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury (Proverbs 14:23). This implies that no one ever pursue God and the interest of His Kingdom at a loss. When we pursue God and the interest of His Kingdom with our heart, we make marks without stress in all our engagements. Active, productive and fruitful stewardship will always cause the giant in us to rise and continuity is the only guarantee for it to come alive. Remember, God is not looking for whom to use, He is simply looking for whom to bless and every instruction from Scriptures we engage with releases God’s blessings upon our lives.

For God to reward us, we must:

    • Serve Him Joyfully: God has better alternatives than us. He is not a task master; He only offers us opportunities that will lead to our blessings. We must serve Him joyfully or it becomes an offense. For it is written, Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee (Deuteronomy 28:47-48). Thus, if we won’t stop serving God with joyfulness and gladness of heart we will never get stranded in life because He is a rewarder of them that serve Him. When our joy perishes, our harvest perishes (Joel 1:12).
    • Serve Him Faithfully: It is written, His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord (Matthew 25:21). Only the faithful ever becomes fruitful in the Kingdom because faithfulness is what births fruitfulness (Proverbs 28:20).

Remember, every truth of Scriptures is valid but it takes serving God to take delivery. That is why passing the test of service is what qualifies us for change of levels in the Kingdom. However, to serve God faithfully, it is important to maintain the right attitude in our service to Him. This is because it takes a pure heart to qualify for rewards in stewardship. Scripture says, And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart (2 Chronicles 25:2). Hence, our hearts must constantly be in tune with God’s purpose in any task we engage with. Stewardship is designed for profitability but there are certain conditions to be met for it to be profitable and among these is maintaining a right heart that qualifies us for returns.

What is in it for Us When Stewardship Becomes Our Way of Life?

    • Unfailing Reward: The Bible says, I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour (1 Corinthians 3:6, 8). This means, everyone shall be rewarded according to his/her own labour of service.
    • Enthronement: It is written, And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord (Jeremiah 30:21).
    • Healing, Health and Wholeness: As it is written, And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee (Exodus 23:25; see also John 15:2; Daniel 12:3).

In conclusion, serving God is not a gift or a calling; it is a choice. Therefore, to operate in this realm, you must be born again. • Unveiling vital keys to unlocking the supernatural!

Unveiling vital keys to unlocking the supernatural!

    Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Unveiling Vital Keys to Unlocking the Supernatural!

From Scriptures, we discovered that every believer is redeemed to be a commander of the supernatural and thus, loaded with supernatural virtues (Mark 16:20). Therefore, we must understand the supernatural content of our redemption before we can effectively unlock it. Remember, the supernatural was the trade mark of Jesus’ activities on the earth and that should also be our heritage. This simply implies that whatever others find difficult to achieve or conquer should be effortless to us because we are to operate in the supernatural as Christ did. Jesus said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12; see also John 10:38).

Moreover, it is important to know that every manifestation of the supernatural is a confirmation of the Word of God we have put to work. So, the Word we know and put to work is the force that commands the supernatural. It is written, And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs (Exodus 4:17). And Jesus is the rod that came forth from the stem of Jesse and He is the living Word of God (Isaiah 11:1). Similarly, because we are operating in the realm of the supernatural; we are to be wondered at. This is because we have been repositioned as a wonder to our world and the Bible says the Kingdom of God is within us (Luke 17:21; Colossians 1:27). However, it is important to know that we live in a Kingdom that operates principally on keys. Hence, ‘key’ here simply connotes revelation and it means having access to what has already been provided for by Jesus at redemption (Matthew 16:19; Luke 11:52).

What Are the Vital Keys to Unlocking the Supernatural?

    • Commitment to Spiritual Growth and Development: Spiritual growth is a non-negotiable requirement (key) in unlocking the supernatural. Thus, it’s not about how long we have been born again but the depth of our knowledge in the Word of God, which makes the difference. Remember, maturity is not a function of age but of depth. For instance, at the age of twelve, the Pharisees were astonished at the understanding Christ possessed (Luke 2:46-47). Likewise, at the age of 17, David, who knew what God could do, brought down the head of Goliath (1 Samuel 17:37, 49-51). However, to experience spiritual growth and development, we must be ready to learn by being under tutors as seen in this scripture, Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father (Galatians 4:1-2).
    • Commitment to Engaging Biblical Mentality in Our Approach to the Issues of Life: At redemption, we became spirit beings. That means our dominion has been restored and we now possess a God-given authority over the things that harass others. For it is written, That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 3:6). As a result of this dominion, we need biblical mentality to sustain our command of the supernatural. Also, we must possess the mentality of the supernatural in our approach to the issues of life because that is where we belong to in Christ. Furthermore, until our mind is renewed; our lives cannot be transformed. We must see ourselves the way God sees us from the pages of Scriptures before we can function effectively in the realm of the supernatural (Proverbs 23:7; Ephesians 4:23; Luke 17:21).
    • Be Committed to Serving God and the Interest of His Kingdom: When we are genuinely committed to serving God and the interest of His Kingdom, what consumes others cannot consume us. This is because serving God can turn anyone to a wonder. For example, we saw in the story of Daniel, how God made him a wonder to king Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:17-18, 24-28). Thus, this helps us to understand that serving God unlocks the supernatural without sweat. No doubt, making God our priority for living turns us to a living wonder among men; thereby, adding to us all things that others are dying to get (Matthew 6:33). Also, there are blessings that accrue to those committed to serving God and the interest of His Kingdom. The Bible says, And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee (Exodus 23:25-26; see also Job 36:11; John 14:21, 15:16; Genesis 12:3).

In summary, to operate in the supernatural, we must have a proven new birth experience not mere spiritual activity as others do (John 3:8). Thus, we must understand that God is no respecter of persons; so, if we are too big to be saved, then we are too big to operate in the supernatural.
