  • Lenten Message: Stop being judgmental, Show Empathy!

Lenten Message: Stop being judgmental, Show Empathy!

    By Ven. Henry Adelegan

That life is fraught with accusers, is a truism; that the world is rife with false accusers, is neither strange nor new; that people concoct damaging stories to smear the image of the innocent and drag them in the mud, is common, and that lots of stories and messages being bandied in the social media are fraught with evil intentions, false, malicious and wicked, is incontrovertible. In a lot of cases, it had been noted with alarming dismay that either the wrong or right accusers are engaging in same or similar offences but theirs are still covered and yet to be exposed.

From the passage picked as our text, the Pharisees and Scribes came to Jesus Christ in the temple, after returning from the Mount of Olives, with stones in one hand, the constitution of Moses in the other hand and screams on their lips. They brought a woman who had been caught in adultery and were quoting sections and sub-sections of the constitution which stipulated that whosoever committed such an offence must be stoned to death and they wanted Jesus Christ to validate what the constitution had said to enable them stone the woman to death (Lev. 20:10; Deut. 22:22). Besides the fact that they wanted the woman to be stoned, their demand was also a ploy to set a theological trap for Jesus Christ.

Beloved in Christ, kindly note that human beings in their desperate bids to bring to fruition their diabolical plans and satanic aspirations will stop at nothing to bring a child of glory down from his/her divine Olympian height but our position as children of God is not to stigmatise but to show empathy. Just as it was done to our Lord Jesus Christ, people will set booby-traps to ensnare, kill, steal and destroy children of glory. My prayer is that the Almighty God will deliver you and your loved ones from every trap set by agents of darkness at home, work and commission to bring down your glory was manifesting and that they shall never be able to pull you down from the high pedestal which God has placed you, in Jesus’ name.

If Jesus Christ had given the Pharisees and Scribes the go-ahead to stone her, they would have accused Him of violating the Roman law under which the Jews were, as Palestine, a part of the Roman empire and under that law, because capital punishment could not be exercised for such an offence. Conversely, if He had said that the woman should not be stoned, they would still have accused Him of violating the Old Testament law.

For the fact that the accusers failed to bring the man that committed the act with that woman for punishment, according to the law of Moses, might suggest that the accusers could have set the woman up with the sole aim of putting her to death. It may not be unlikely that the man who committed the act with the woman was a part of the frame-up as conspiracy theory had always been a part of history. An example was King Ahab who coveted the little vineyard of Naboth and when all attempts by the King to take Naboth’s inheritance from him failed, Queen Jezebel wrote letters in Ahab’s name to the elders and the nobles to “…Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die” (1Kings 21:8-10). Naboth was accused of what he didn’t do and he was killed for an offence he never committed while the masterminds of the false accusation took over what rightly belonged to Naboth – what a life!

The same thing played out when David after he had slept with Bathsheba, wife to one of his soldiers; Uriah – a man of high integrity and unimaginable sense of duty, and put her in the family way. David tried all he could to cover his sin by forcing the pregnancy on Uriah but when all his attempts failed, he returned Uriah to the battlefield and wrote a letter that the commanders should “Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die” (2 Samuel 11:15). Uriah was setup in battle, he was killed before his time and David took over Bathsheba, his wife.

Joseph too had same experience in the hands of Potiphar because he refused to commit adultery with her. She turned the accusation on Joseph which sent the innocent young boy to prison for a crime he never committed (Genesis 39:1-29). Jesus Christ was not spared of this illegal setup in the hands of the Chief priests, elders and all of the council in their determination to put him to death. They, “…sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses (Matt. 26:59-60). With the words of false accusers, the innocent one and Saviour of the world was nailed to the cross.

Jesus Christ, who knows the inner recesses of the heart of man and does not need anyone to testify of man to Him (John 2:25 cf Jeremiah 17:9-10), saw through the hearts of the accusers of the woman ‘caught in the act’, He stooped, started to write something on the ground but when they persisted with their demand, He confirmed the validity of the law being quoted but added that, “… He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her” (John 8:7). All the accusers left one by one, beginning from the oldest.

It is curious to note that all her accusers were not spared of sin either (Romans 3:23; 1John 1:8); and by implication, all of them qualified to be stoned in accordance with the constitution according to Moses. When Jesus Christ raised His head, He asked the woman “…where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more” (John 8:10-11).

Brethren, what Jesus Christ demands from us as His children is to show understanding for those that are yet to be delivered from sin and provide support to anyone that has sinned or sinning through our prayer of intercession and not join hands to discuss, malign and cast stones forgetting that none is immuned against being stoned, if the law of Moses were to be implemented to the letters.

It is therefore our responsibility as candidates on our way to heaven to bring sinners to the knowledge and saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have an obligation to de-populate hell and enlarge heaven through the support we provide for drug addicts, prostitutes, drunks, adulterers, thieves etc. Jesus Christ who saved Saul on his way to commit a more heinous crime against His disciples and changed him to Paul is a God that will not cast stones, will never support stone casting of whatever sort, will never bear offences or hold anything against anyone (Acts 9:1-19). He was the one that saved Mary called Magdalene “…out of whom went seven devils” and adopted her to the household of faith (Luke 8:2); He does not write anyone off, no matter the sins that have been committed. Jesus Christ has a large heart to bring sinners home, provided they confess those sins and pledge not to return to the path of sin again (Isaiah 1:18).

Jesus Christ did not come to implement the stone casting law neither would he cast any stone Himself. He “…came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Luke 5:32; 1 Timothy 1:15; Matthew 15:24; Luke 19:10). During this time of lent brethren, let this same mind be in you, stop throwing stones or joining the league of ‘stone-throwers’, stop judging others consequent on their misdemeanours, show empathy to people with the pandemic Coronavirus or HIV/AIDS cases, provide support to the people that are down, intercede more for people you know that have erred from the path of truth and pray that God will bring them from utter darkness into His marvellous light, in the name of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, during this time of lent, give us grace to work worthy of you, not to join the league of ‘stone-throwers’ but rather to bring sinners to your light, in Jesus’ name.

  • Unveiling the degrees of faith!

    Unveiling the degrees of faith!

    Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to another exciting week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Unveiling The Degrees Of Faith!

From scriptures, we discover that faith is in degrees. We may wonder why some people’s faith produces and others don’t. The reason is because Bible faith is in degrees! In Matthew 14, Jesus was walking on the sea towards His disciples, who had earlier left in a boat. Peter saw Him and said, ‘Lord if it be Thou, bid me come unto thee on the water’. Jesus said, ‘Come’ and Peter began walking towards Jesus on water. But when he saw the boisterous wind, he was afraid and began to sink, he cried saying, ‘Lord, save me’. Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said, ‘O thou of little faith, wherefore, didst thou doubt?’ (Matthew 14:27-31). The dimension of faith required to keep walking on water was not in Peter, so he began to sink. We must understand that our level of insight determines the degree of faith we operate in.

What Then, Are The Degrees Of Faith?

    • Little Faith: This degree of faith cannot confront challenges. That’s why we have to accept the responsibility of building our faith. Little faith is susceptible to doubt, when confronted by great challenges. The Bible says in the last days perilous times shall come. That is, the world will be confronted by the worst of challenges. That also goes to explain why Jesus said, I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth (Luke 18:8). The challenges will be so enormous that only those who have paid attention to developing this vital aspect of life will be found standing. As it is written, If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small (Proverbs 24:10). Thus, little insight is the reason for little faith because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
    • Great Faith: Great faith will always have it the way it wants it. Jesus gave us an introduction to great faith in Matthew 15. Responding to the Canaanite woman’s insistence on getting even the crumbs in her request for deliverance for her demon possessed daughter, Jesus said, Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour (Matthew 15:28). Also, we read of great faith in Matthew 8, where a centurion came to Jesus, seeking healing for his servant. The Bible records, And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel (Matthew 8:7-10). It will always deliver great victories, command signs and put us in command. Great faith is a degree of faith we operate in when we become addicted to discoveries in the Word. We become unshakeable in any challenge of life. Great faith is taking deep root in the Word of God.
    • The Spirit of Faith: The God-kind of faith is when we begin to operate by the Spirit of faith. As it is written, We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak (2 Corinthians 4:13). When we operate by the Spirit of faith, we begin to command the faithfulness of God at will. At this level, we begin to speak things naturally; we are not confessing them but simply proclaiming them. For instance, Joshua and Caleb operated by this spirit. When the other ten spies began to give the people evil report, they shut them up. The Bible records, But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it (Numbers 14:24). The Spirit of faith is a reactionary force that can’t stand anything contrary to it. In the Spirit of faith realm, we operate in the violent dimension of faith where we look at challenges and deal with them as if they do not exist. Thus, the Spirit of faith is a speaking faith.

In summary, faith is a growing force (2 Thessalonians 1:3). Thus, faith has its source and strength for growth in the Word of God. In other words, our labour in the Word of God is our access to growing in faith. However, new birth is a fundamental requirement to operate in the realm of the Spirit of faith. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me! Now, I know I am born again! • Theological Seminary pledges to produce quality leaders

Theological Seminary pledges to produce quality leaders

The founder of West Africa Theological Seminary (WATS), Ipaja, Lagos State, Dr. Gary

Stewart Maxey has said the institution would continue to maintain its lead as a leading seminary in the continent of Africa.

He said this while explaining why 18 academic and two administrative staff were sacked. He said the mission to deliver on the promises of providing good and sound theological leaders by the seminary was important and cannot be compromised.

Maxey said the academic staff had to be asked to go because their services were no longer required because they were teaching undergraduate courses, which the seminary was no longer ready to run.

He explained that when the seminary started 1982, it was running vocational, Diploma, undergraduate and graduate programmes. But that after ten years, it scrapped the certificate and diploma programmes.

According to him, “WATS has been on a long trajectory. WATS is moving to true global seminary status as obtainable in America. WATS is moving forward not backward. We want to put our resources and energy where we are doing best. And that is in our graduate programme.”

He said that the level of theological education is rising globally and as such, WATS must adjust to meet the dynamism of the time for progression.

  • LENTEN MESSAGE: World’s information and Word’s Transformation

LENTEN MESSAGE: World’s information and Word’s Transformation

    By Venerable Henry O. Adelegan

Text:”… the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits”.
    Daniel 11:32b

Knowledge of this world is antipodal to God’s knowledge; while worldly knowledge provides information that could cascade to either live or death, transformation, faith, power, strength, live and prosperity are the exclusive benefits of the Word of God (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17 cf Gen. 1:3), as pontificated by God’s word in our text. Hebrews 4:12 attests to it that “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. This axiom was further advanced through Paul’s epistle to the Corinthians that “… the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God…” (1Cor. 3:19). This position by Paul is probably predicated on the intellectual discourse he had with the Stoic and Epicurean philosophers in Athens, a town that was wholly given to superstitions and idolatry but left one altar for an unknown god (Acts. 17:16-31).

The second category of people in the world, besides those who don’t know God at all, are the ilks of the Stoic and Epicurean philosophers of today – the people that think they know God – they are referred to as God’s people. This set of people come to church, bear names that confirm they are Christians, some have big Bibles, a number have positions in the church, have intimidating educational titles, some can speak in tongues, a larger number go to mountain tops for prayers, have the contacts of notable people of God, they move from one “where it is happening spiritual assembly” to another, a lot don’t miss programmes at camps and they are regular faces at vigils. One of their notable traits is that they are rolling stones and regularly transited by their desires and emotions. They are very excited when things are good but get disillusioned, hopeless and doubt when things don’t go the way they wanted or prayed. Despite all their religious personalities and activities, they have just an ephemeral knowledge of God- they are aware that God exists but are yet to fully come to terms with who He is, what He can do and His ‘modus operandi’ (Isaiah 29:13). Rather, they have permanent residency with the church of Laodecians that are neither hot nor cold (Revelations 3:13-16).

God, in Hosea 4:6, said that the consequence of “His people” not knowing Him fully and deeply, their lack of understanding of who He is (Isaiah 1:2-4), is that they will perish, meaning that such a people will continually be under the manipulation of powers of wickedness – a life of up today and down tomorrow. Further in Isaiah 5:13-15, God elucidated the consequences of peripheral knowledge of Him in Isaiah 5:13-15 that, they are moved “into captivity… their honourable men are famishe… their multitude dried up with thirst… hell hath enlarged itself, and opened its mouth without measure: and their glory…their multitude… their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it… the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled”.

Do you have ideas that are not bringing you the right dividends? Have you been living a life of endless hope of “it shall be better one day” and instead of ascending you are descending? Is your life being continually manipulated by powers of wickedness through bad dreams and fear? Are people that are not up to you intellectually or spiritually placed above you at work, in the family and place of commission? Do you have hordes of latent leadership potential that are not cascading into meaningful responsibilities? Are you living uncontrollably under the yoke of drugs and bad habits? Are you struggling with life and living or you are traversing from one problem or sickness to another? Is your expenditure in excess of your income? Does it appear that the life you started well might end badly or the race you started in grace might end in disgrace? These are some of the symptoms of peripheral knowledge of God which Solomon referred to as an error from the ruler which alters the destiny of princes and makes them walk on the ground as against riding on horses (Ecclesiastes 10:5-7). As the Lord lives, all that the devil has stolen from you shall be recovered, the servants on your horses shall be dethroned and His power shall reposition you to where you rightly belong, in Jesus’ name.

Beloved, when you truly come to terms with who God is, like Abraham who heard His voice, left the certainty of Ur of the Chaldees for a place he doesn’t know (Genesis 11:28-12:4) or you have faith like Shadrack, Mesach and Abednego who faced King Nebuchadnezzar that the God they served was able to deliver them from his hands and the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:16-19) or you can declare like Job, even in his lowest state, that “I know that my Redeemer liveth” (Job 19:25), you shall provoke His power to action and greater things shall manifest in your life. You shall be lifted up like the children of Isaachar, who were not lacking in God’s knowledge (1 Chronicles 12:32) and your testimonies shall shock the world.

At this time of Lent, endeavour to increase your knowledge of God, surrender your life to Jesus Christ, read the word of God day and night, meditate on His word daily, allow His word to have a living expression in your life (Joshua 1:8), look above your present circumstances and focus on what His report about you are. When you do this, He has promised in Daniel 11:32b that you shall be strong, healthy, fearless, winners, champions, unbeatable and operate above powers of darkness. You shall also be excluded from what is killing or bringing others down and where they have said there is no way, your case shall be special (Job 22:28). Besides, you shall do exploits – be successful, comfortable, happy and be lifted far above your present level (Jeremiah 24:6-7). This shall be your testimony henceforth, in the name of Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, give me grace to transit from a Christian by mere words of mouth to a Christian living by your Word, in Jesus’ name.

  • Banished to Awe or awe?

    Banished to Awe or awe?

Text: “Can a woman forget her sucking child…? they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.” – Isaiah 49:15

BANISHMENT is the process of sentencing a person from one place of usual resort against his/her will into another location. This experience could be a terrible new way of life, which is capable of drawing the sympathy and outcry of local and the international community, particularly when someone is banished from a place of influence to Awe, a relatively discomfiting town. In Oyo State, for instance, there is a beautiful town called Awe, a city of peace, which is blessed with a global tourist attraction, called Sogodi Lake. There is another serene, peaceful and beautiful town called Awe in Nasarawa State.

As good as those towns are, they are nothing comparable with the city of God called awe. God’s town of awe has a gateway of amazement, a pathway wonderment, buildings of astonishment and a location of admiration. When one is banished to awe, one is immediately catapulted from insignificance to a higher level of grace, one is moved from the pathway of insults to the highway of a salt of the earth, hitherto locked doors are opened of their own accord and one becomes an instant celebrity and a person of great influence.

From our text, God asked if it were possible for mothers to forget their suckling child. He averred that it is possible for your closest person, who is supposed to provide assistance, to turn a blind eye. It is not unusual for brothers to forget their siblings, it is not out of place for friends to ignore the telephone calls of their ‘buddies’, and it is common for privileged members of the society to ignore the pleasantries of friends that are less privileged, but He has promised never to forget you. He promised that He will surely remember you. The Psalmist said, “though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me” (Psalm 27:10) – Halleluyah!

Everything in the world was wrong with Mephibosheth, the lame son of Jonathan and grandson of King Saul. At age five, his father and grandfather died at the battle of Mount Gilboa. While he was being taken away by his nurse, he fell and became disabled immediately. He was therefore banished to Lodebar as a disabled person and placed under severe restriction. The world forgot him but one day the power of God stirred up King David who asked that “… is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake? (2 Samuel 9:1). The lot fell on Mephibosheth. He and his son, Mika, woke up in a beggarly state and were sentenced to the palace of awe where they slept that night and lived there forever. (2 Samuel 9:13).

There was also a woman called Hannah, who was severely tortured emotionally and physically by Peninnah because she was not bodily fruitful and she constantly provoked her till she ‘wept and would not eat’ (1Samuel 1:7). In the course of time, however, God remembered ‘the forgotten suckling child’, she was banished to awe – she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy who grew to be a great  prophet, seer, priest, judge and military leader in Israel. Not only that, and at the citadel of awe, she had six additional children while her persecutor pined away (1 Samuel 2:5).

Mordecai, a captive Jew, was a gatekeeper in the palace who saved King Xerxes from the treacherous scheme of Bignatha and Teresh, who had planned to assassinate him (Esther 2:21-22). Years later, the King’s Prime Minister schemed to eliminate all the Jews in Babylon, Mordecai inclusive (Esther 3:8-13). Everyone forgot the role that Mordecai had played but suddenly God stirred the king to remember what he had done which qualified him for honour and recognition (Esther 6:1-3). Eventually, the forgotten was remembered, the sentence of death over his people was removed, diggers of evil pits fell into their pits, powers changed hands and the gatekeeper was sentenced to the palace as Prime Minister and the keeper of economic gates (Esther 7 & 8).

It doesn’t matter where life, health and people have banished you to – are you in Lodebar, on the mountain crying or at the gate of the palace awaiting death? I have good news for you because it is not over. The nation, its leaders, your friends and family may forget you but God will not forget you. He will remember you, He will banish you to awe and He will cause your lift up and change your story for His glory. God will intervene for you, He will calm the present storm and banish you not to Awe but the citadel of awe.

Have you been banished to Awe, either through your fault or not, I appeal to you, during this time of Lent, to please come to Him (Matthew 11:28) and ask Him to forgive you your sins (Isaiah 1:18), plead with Him that you will, henceforth, live as His child, ask Him to engrave you on the palms of His hands and that your walls will ever be before Him (Isaiah 49:16). When you do this, He would take you from Awe and banish you to a better place of awe. At those places where you have been forgotten, He will remember you for greater honour, people will bring your sons in their arms and your daughters on their hips. Kings shall be your foster fathers and their queens your nursing mothers. You shall surely celebrate and be celebrated in the name of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Oh Lord, I cry to you during this time of Lent to sentence me from Awe to the city of awe in the name of Jesus Christ

  • No Storm can Stop you!

    No Storm can Stop you!

    Venerable Victor Adelegan

Text:”…he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side… And there arose a great storm of wind…” ( Mk. 4:35,37)

Jesus Christ informed His disciples of their transition to the other side, a journey that was obviously targeted at freeing a great man destined for greatness but bound by powers of darkness (Mk. 5:1-20). On their way, a great storm arose to hinder them from getting there and possibly, terminate their lives in the process but His presence surmounted the raging storm. The disciples drew the attention of the Ancient of Days to their dilemma and with a word, He rebuked the wind and the wind ceased instantly. Eventually, they arrived at their destination and He delivered the great man that was bound, released his destiny from bondage and he became an Evangelist in Decapolis.

A storm is a very dangerous wave that has devastating tendencies. While there are natural storms, we also have spiritual storms. A natural storm originates when a low pressure system is surrounded by a high pressure system. Small areas of low pressure can form from hot air rising off hot ground. Hot air will rise, and when the hot air collides with cold air, the hot air is forced up over the colder, drier air. When the warmer air is displaced upwards, it causes surface air pressure to drop, which creates something of a vacuum effect where the two air masses meet. Cold air then rushes in to fill the area of lower air pressure, and this in turn forces more warm air upwards. This starts a cycle of cold air rushing in, pushing the warm air upwards. It is this very turbulence that causes the natural storm.

When a storm occurs, there are displacement of organised structures; the family, home and places that have been organised suddenly become disorganised as there are forceful changes and things are turned completely upside down ( Job 21:28, 27:21). To reduce the consequences of a storm, captains of ships are trained to avoid stormy locations. When a natural storm is in sight however, the ship passengers are commanded not to loiter, luggages are properly organised in their compartments, breakable utensils are securely kept out of the reach of passengers and  cargoes are jettisoned to lighten the weight of the vessel (cf Acts 27:18) among other precautionary measures.

While the effect of a physical storm can be sighted and ameliorated, a spiritual storm is not visible to human eyes, it evolves suddenly like the experiences of the woman with the issue of blood, the great Naaman and the only child of the Shunamite woman who were attacked suddenly, and it imposes a ‘but’ in human testimonies (Mk. 5:25-26; 2Kings 5:1-14; 2 Kings 4:18-20). The destructive capacity of a spiritual storm is colossal and devastating. The damages therefrom are beyond human imagination, leads to injuries, terrible destruction of lives, destinies, properties and institutions; and even loss of lives.

The spiritual storm manifests in sudden hatred among couples leading to thoughts of separation or divorce, sudden strange behaviours, a thriving business suddenly going down, perennial visits to Doctors, unexplainable loss of revenue, a thriving business outfit going down, increasing expenditure without commensurate increase in income, inability to meet financial, matrimonial and occupational demands, friends suddenly becoming enemies, hatred by superior officers etc.

Brethren, that Jesus is in your boat does not exclude you from a spiritual storm. That your are a born again Christian or a Pastor does not exclude you from the challenges of a storm. David buttressed this by saying that ” many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers them from all” ( Psalm 34:19 cf Jn 16:33). James the brother of John was killed in a spiritual storm orchestrated by Herod Agrippa when the church was silent but when the church arose to pray, the story changed and the captors became the captives ( Acts 12).

Therefore, it doesn’t matter what your experience may be today, there is a God who specialises at making ‘the storm calm, so that the waves thereof are still’ ( Psalm 107:29). He is the One that is “a refuge from the storm” (Isaiah 25:4). The Almighty God is He that “sits upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in” ( Isaiah 40:22). He is your God and will never allow you to be put to shame. The present storm that you are wading through has a terminal date with Him- it is cannot stop you! At His presence, the evil spirit behind the roars of the storms are silenced and its powers are made of no consequence.

At this Lenten season brethren, I encourage you to build your life on the Rock (Matthew 7:24 cf Romans 9:33), allow Him into the boat of your life, surrender to Him absolutely, call on Him at all times, obey Him in all things and have faith in His power to deliver. As you continue to fast, pray and have faith in God, He would reverse every evil order and give you peace over the spiritual storms in Jesus’ name.

Prayers: Almighty God come into the boat of my life, calm every storm, take me to the other side of my life, terminate my weepings and restore the joy of my salvation, in Jesus’ name.

Leaders are failing our youths, says cleric

    By Adeola Ogunlade

The Senior Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Land of Fulfillment, Lagos, Pastor Isaac Olalusi, has lamented leaders across board are failing youths.

Many leaders, according to him, are not showing good examples but displaying greed and self-centeredness much to the detriment of youths.

Olanusi spoke last week at the 5th edition of the church’s 21 days prayer and fasting in Lagos.

He said that corruption has become a hydra- headed monster in Nigeria with leaders contributing to the rots in the society.

The cleric said corruption has been so glorified and glamourized that many youths are waiting for the slightest opportunity to grab once in public office.

“Even some are not afraid to go to prison; they say after amassing the wealth they will still come back from jail to enjoy their loots because in our society, we unfortunately celebrate these corrupt people and that is sending wrong signal to the youths,” he stressed.

He commended the effort of anti- corruption agencies but called for inculcation of the fear of God into youths to keep them on the right tracks.

“Until we go back to God’s discipline, self-sacrifice, contentment, and teach dignity of labour and obedience to the word of God, then it will take time before we come out of this situation,” he argued.

He noted leaders have been greedy, self-centered “it’s even madness the rate people are embezzling money and how people are looting the treasury of the country.”
