  • Accessing the voice of God!

Welcome to another impactful week. I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. Today, we shall focus on: Accessing the Voice of God!

We understand from scriptures that God is committed and ever ready to offer direction to as many as are willing to be led. However, it does not come cheaply; it requires diligence and a business-like approach. We have to consciously programme ourselves to hear His voice. Just as we need to be tuned to a particular frequency in order to pick radio signals, we need to be correctly tuned to heaven’s frequency to hear God’s voice of direction and this requires a definite determination on our parts. For it is written: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left (Isaiah 30:21). Also, a climbing up is needed to hear from God. It is an uphill task but the joy it brings outweighs the price paid. The Bible says: After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter (Revelation 4:1). This implies that we should come away from all those things keeping us on the ground. A separation is needed to hear from God or to receive instruction either from His Word or voice. Although, Moses had to go to the mountain to receive the pattern for the temple, we do not have to go to a physical mountain. What is actually required is a separation unto God, in which we create a conducive environment for our spirit man to be able to communicate with God. This can be done even in our room, where we have a quiet place and time to talk with God, with no interference or disturbance. We need to be ready to pay the price of separation if we want to hear His voice. When God called Paul, he spent three years in Arabia, receiving insight and revelations from God (Galatians 1:15-18). In other words, a separation unto God is to our own advantage.

How, then, Can We Access the Voice of God?

    • Through Joy: We need joy to hear God’s voice of direction. If we are not joyful, our access to Him will be blocked. It takes joy to gain access into the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. It is a great secret for triumph. Joy must be in place before we can understand the things of God, for it is with joy that we draw revelations and instructions from God. The Bible says: Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3). Also, it is written: Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel. And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard… (Isaiah 30:29-30). When will He cause His glorious voice to be heard? Only when we come to Him with a song and with gladness of heart! If there’s no gladness of heart, we become deaf to the voice of God. Therefore, we should endeavour not to let anything take our joy from us.
    • By Being Free From Cares, Worries and Anxiety: To gain access to His voice, we need to be free from whatever causes us to fear or brings sorrow and anxiety. Let us fight them as though we were fighting against sin. Why? They will rob us of our access to the voice of God, which is our secret for sweatless triumph. Heaviness is a spirit as validated by this scripture: To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified (Isaiah 61:3).It is one of satan’s strategies for stripping God’s people naked. He knows that God is absent wherever heaviness of heart is and when God is absent, we become a cheap prey in his hands.

In summary, do not allow little, little foxes such as concerns for what to eat, drink or where to sleep make the Word of God of no effect in our lives. When we continue worrying about them day and night, it becomes impossible to walk in the Spirit and gain access to the voice of God. However, gaining access to the voice of God takes being born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I know I am born again! • Harness Nigeria’s potentials, CAN urges Buhari

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to harness the potentials of Nigerians, especially its youth population.

Its President Samson Olasupo Ayokunle said this at a breakfast meeting with the Christian Press Association of Nigeria (CPAN) with the theme ‘Christian response to global persecution’ in Lagos.

Ayokunle pointed out the ability to develop and grow the country is available in Nigeria and with Nigerians but asked “where is the political leadership to harness them?”

He said the spate of kidnapping, banditry and other civil unrest will stop if the current administration reduced unemployment, among the teeming young population in Nigeria, stating an idle person is a willing tool for the Devil.

Ayokunle noted that Nigeria has a huge demographic of young people with strengths, energies, tenacity, creativity and resilience to develop the country, if government puts in place programmes and activities geared toward harnessing their potentials for profitable and productive ventures.

He stated the President must pay attention to the issue of social welfare and improve greatly on infrastructures as miscreants have continued to take advantage of bad portions on the roads, especially highways to kidnap and dispossess people of their belongings.

The CAN President also said the government should respect courts of law and be fair to all Nigerians, adding “if government disrespect the law court, such government is a lawless government?”

Ayokunle called on all Nigerians to promote fairness, mutual respect and justice.

Speaking on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, the CAN helmsman lamented Christians do not have the boldness like Esther to fight for their faith.

“Most ‘Christians’ in politics places political advantages above the spiritual and that have contributed to the continued persecution of the church in Nigeria,” he said.

Ayokunle pointed out Churches cannot get Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) in some parts of the north, which according to him is against the constitution of Nigeria.

Ayokunle also berated the lack of unity among Christians to speak and pursue a common objective.

“The Church is so rich but cannot put resources together for a single purpose,” he said.

For those calling on the Christian body to openly support a political party, Ayokunle stated CAN is not a political organisation.

Such move, he said, will pitch the church against other Nigerians and put the church at a disadvantage from the very start.

  • BSN to build N2.2b Bible House

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has concluded plans to build a N2.2billion house in Lagos, its General Secretary, Dr Dare Ajiboye, has said.

At a briefing at BSN’s Guest House in Palmgrove, Ajiboye said the edifice, which would be located between Fadeyi and Ojota, would replace its secretariat at Apapa, an area that has been abandoned no thanks to the perennial gridlock in that axis.

He said the 53-year-old society had been using the Apapa secretariat before it become impassable to its workers and stakeholders because of the traffic congestion.

To raise funds for the building, BSN, Ajiboye said had embarked on the Write and Build for our God (WABFOG) initiative.

He explained the initiative means a Christian or corporate body would pay some money to handwrite a bible to be published.

Ajiboye added: “Project WABFOG is also to raise fund for the building of a new Bible House. After over five decades of existence, the BSN has been hidden from those it is meant to serve as a result of its location in Apapa, which is a dead end of Lagos.

“The project is meant to also raise fund to bring the BSN to a location between Fadeyi and Ojota, Lagos, where it would be more accessible to the people it is meant to serve.’’

Donors to the building, he said, would be immortalised.

He continued: “We are calling on you to partner with us to Write and build for our God.

“The entire verses of the Bible will be handwritten by individuals. Churches and corporate bodies willing to financially support this cause to make the building of the Bible House a possibility.’’

  • Pope charges media on social cohesion

Catholic Pontiff Pope Francis has charged media practitioners to use social media platforms for social reengineering and cohesion in an increasing divided world.

He said this last Sunday at the 53rd World Communications Day held at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos.

The event was tagged: “We are members of one of another – From social network communities to the human community”.

The Pope lamented the damage social media has caused individuals, families and nations.

He said: “If the internet represents an extraordinary possibility of access to knowledge, it is also true that it has proven to be one of the areas most exposed to disinformation and to the conscious and targeted distortion of facts and interpersonal relationships, which are often used to discredit.”

He appreciated social networks for ensuring better inter-personal connectivity but said they shouldn’t be used to manipulate personal data aimed “at obtaining political or economic advantages without due respect for the person and his or her rights.

The Pope added statistics show that among young people, one in four is involved in episodes of ‘cyberbullying’.

He noted that media practitioners should carry out their duties in a perfect, friendly and unbiased manner with the consciousness that their audience is also human beings who should be respected and honoured.

Archbishop of Metropolitan See of Lagos, The Most Revd. Alfred Adewale Martins challenged the media handlers to propagate cohesion and unity among Nigerians.

He said that beyond creating social cohesion among humanity, they must push cohesion of all nations, especially Nigeria.

Martins called on Presidential Muhammadu Buhari to focus on insecurity, which he described as frightening in his second term.

He lamented the spate of wanton killings and kidnappings in the country with no single person yet held accountable for the various crimes going on.

He warned Nigerians are being pushed to defend themselves because it appears government does not cater for them anymore.

This, Martins said, should be tackled to avoid destabilisation of the country.

Martins opposed the planned establishment of Fulani radio, saying it is a perfect recipe for religious disharmony considering Nigeria is a secular state.

He also criticised Buhari’s presence at the Organisation of Islamic Organisation (OIC) meeting at a time Nigerians were kicking against alleged Fulanisation of the country.

The president’s attendance, he said, certainly sent the wrong signals to the country.

He called on Buhari to address restructuring of the country, which he has at last agreed to do without any further delay.

  • Don’t attack President Buhari, Kumuyi tells Christians

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi on Sunday urged Christians not to attack the President of the country through any means.

Kumuyi, who gave the admonition during his sermon at the Deeper Life Bible Church, Headquarters, Gbagada, in Lagos said that real Christians must obey constituted authorities and shun violence.

Delivering his sermon entitled “The Believers’ Preservation Until the Day of Visitation”, Kumuyi said that Christians are strangers and pilgrims in the world and must be christ-like in their character, conducts and conversations.

The cleric, who read from Biblical passage, I Peter 2: 11-25 said that Christians lifestyle must reflect Christ in a civil society, saying that government derives their authority from God.

“Don’t attack the President of the country whether in words or in the newspapers or through internet.

“Honour kings; don’t disrespect or dishonour the governors. Don’t disrespect leaders of the community and leaders in the church.

“If we are to honour the governors in the states, how much more the Pastors, ” Kumuyi said.

He said that such remains the will and command of God.

He said that God wanted Christians to submit to the leadership He had given to them in the Church, community, country and corporate organisations.

The cleric, who stated that the end of life on earth is not the end of existence, urged Christians to always think of the day of reckoning in their character and conduct.

He said, as strangers and pilgrims in the world, Christians’ affections, attentions and focus must be in heaven, hence the need to shun all appearance of sins.

According to him, the greatest joy and reward of Christians is not in this world but is reserved in heaven for those would not be overcome by attractions of the world.

Kumuyi admonished Christians to abstained from fleshly lusts, fornication, idolatry, anger among others that could pull them out of the highway of heaven just like Biblical character, Demas.

According to him, Christians should not give up worship of God for money- making ventures, saying “man brought nothing to the world and will not take anything out of it.”.

“If we are going to heaven, we must be careful and thoughtful and run from all appearance of evil.

“Don’t be ignorant, careless, and thoughtless. Many are ignorant of the day of visitation,” Kumuyi added.

The cleric urged Christians to shine as light in the world through their lifestyles, saying Jesus Christ had given them an example to follow even when they are being persecuted in the world. (NAN)

  • Understanding God’s plan for me from his book!

Welcome to June! I believe we all had great time in the Word regarding our success right in Christ and what we must do to realise its full delivery. My prayer is that we shall put our diverse findings to work, so as to emerge as living testimonies of this great mystery, in Jesus’ name! Today, we shall focus on: Understanding God’s Plan for Me from His Book!

From scriptures, we discover that the only book containing the plans of God for the redeemed is the Bible.  Therefore, the Bible is God’s manual for His product– man. It is an expression of the mind and consequently, the thoughts of God towards His creatures. According to scripture, God says: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). Then, if God has plans for us in the Bible, we need to see them by searching them out. Therefore, to see or understand them, we need vision. The Bible says: Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he(Proverbs 29:18).This implies that vision is one of the most vital forces in the journey of life, that is, it is one of the requirements for a successful life journey. The question now is, ‘What is vision?’ Vision is the unfolding of God’s plan for our lives (Jeremiah 1:5, 29:11). Until one accesses God’s plan for his/her life, it remains an adventure in frustration (Proverbs 29:18). Therefore, the journey to a world of outstanding success begins with understanding God’s plan (Isaiah 48:17-21). Our disregard for the content of the Book will keep us wandering about in the wilderness of life. To pose to be smarter than what the Book says is to end up a captive. For it is written: And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned (Isaiah 29:11-12). The truth is, until we are saved, the seal is not removed. The Bible is the mirror of life (James 1:22-25). It shows us what we are, what we have and what we can do. It is God’s prophetic agenda for the redeemed. It is God’s thoughts and purpose in print and He unveils them time and again, to whosoever is interested. If we want to make something good out of our lives, we have to take the Word of God more importantly than our necessary food. As it is written: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success (Joshua 1:8).

But, What Does His Plan for Me in His Book Look Like?

    • By Redemption, We are Redeemed to Walk in Dominion: Redemption has repositioned us for dominion. Thus, we are not to be harassed by the wicked forces of life. The Bible says: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6); and where is this heavenly place? Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come(Ephesians 1:20-21). The heavenly places are far above the domain or territory of principalities and powers. I got this revelation of my repositioning in 1979 from the ministry of Wigglesworth and I got so intoxicated. Redemption has ordained us to walk in dominion because: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever (Genesis 13:15).
    • We Have Been Redeemed as Priests and Kings to Reign on the Earth: As it is written: And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth (Revelation 5:9-10). So, every seed of Abraham is either a king or a nation because Christ has redeemed us from the curse of slavery (Galatians 3:13-14).
    • We are Redeemed to Be a Blessing and not a Burden to Our World: God sworn a blessing on Abraham saying: And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice (Genesis 22:18). As the seeds of Abraham, we are automatically partakers of the sworn blessings. For it is written: And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:29).

In conclusion, we must understand that God’s plan for every man only becomes accessible after one is born again. • Fountain of Life Church donates food, books to Lagos community

The Fountain of Life Church has donated thousands of books and meals to residents of Oko-Agbon in Makoko slums, Lagos.

During the donation, children dressed in their Sunday wears welcomed the delegation displaying the love of God among the slum dwellers last week.

As parts of its social responsibility, the church has made it mandatory to feed the children, educate them and their parents on the importance of hygienic living as well as the importance of going to school every Sunday.

Mrs. Modupe Olubamowo, said the charity outreach, an arm of the Fountain of Life Church, was essentially to demonstrate the love of God.

She said the church has not only donated foods to hundreds of children in the slum but has also provided free medical consultation as well as drugs to them since the initiative started two years ago.

“We’ve also brought sanitation instructors to help enlighten the people on hygienic living since they have no proper ways of disposing their waste.

“Everything is dumped into the lagoon, and this act constitutes a great health risk to the community,” she said.

Also speaking on the outreach programme, Kayode Famuyiwa said Christianity is more than claiming to be saved or going around preaching the word.

He stated it is more of revealing the true nature of God in how Christians relate to others, particularly the less privileged.

He said the Fountain of Life Church’s charity outreach is aimed at creating social advocacy on the need for individuals to show love and care for one another especially the needy.

“Hence, it is important that we do not just wait for religious bodies but that we also help out in any way that we can.

“Let us all, churches and individuals, do our part in spreading God’s love by helping the less privileged around us.

“Fountain of Life Church has also touched lives in Akala area of Mushin, Cappa, Shomolu, Onipanu and several other areas where many drug addicts have been rehabilitated,” he said.

Eight waste bins were also donated to the community by the ‘Save the Face of Lagos’ initiative comprising several teenagers from the Greenspring Schools, Anthony.

Coordinator of the group, Princess Okonkwo, said the initiative was birthed out of the need for to show love and care towards the needy.

“We realised that in Oko-Agbon, there’s no proper means of disposing wastes, so, in our own small ways we have decided to provide the community with waste bins and also brought officials of the Lagos state Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) to come and educate them on the proper ways of disposing wastes,” she said.

  • ‘Why I don’t pray for long life’

The Assistant General Overseer Personnel and Administration of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Johnson Odesola clocks 60 on Wednesday. He spoke with journalists on his life, humble beginning, marriage, and insatiable quest for knowledge in Lagos. Adeola Ogunlade was there. Excerpts:

At 60, how do you feel?

I don’t think there is any major feeling other than the fact that age is catching on. Now, at 60, I need to get myself ready and rethink how to go about the rest of my life.

For the church, I have about 10 years effectively to retire and if I want, I can do a volunteer retirement subject to agreement of the church’s leadership. There are things I need to rethink, something I would have dared at 40 now that I am 60.

Did you ever look forward to 60 years especially when life expectancy of an average Nigerian is less than 50?

Well, I don’t look forward to any age. I never prayed to live long. I only pray to fulfill the purpose of my existence.  Even now, I don’t pray for long life but to fulfill God’s purpose for my life.

When people pray that I want to be 70 or 80, I don’t join them to pray and I don’t say amen when people say you will be 80 years. I leave it in the hand of God. One thing I want to and I desire so much is to fulfill God’s purpose for my life.

If I finish God’s purpose for my life today, so be it and if it is tomorrow, so be it. I have discovered that life is not by duration but by donation. I don’t just want to be long for the sake of longevity; I want to be sure that I have something to impact.

Jesus lived for 33 years and two thousand years after, we are still talking about him while Methuselah lived a little less than 1,000 years but nobody says anything about him except to refer to him on the basis of age with no achievement.

Yes, I thank God that I am 60. I know it is a privilege and that means that I still have something to do for God. So, even now, people have asked me to pray to be 80 years, I said no. Do you pray to be 70 years? I say I leave it to the hands of God.

If I have not finished what He configured with my destiny and life then He should take me through those ages and if it is by Him then I will not become invalid. He will have to supply the good health- all the tools, food, raiment just to go with it. I feel elated I am 60 years and I am thankful to God. I just hand over to Him the rest of my days.

Which is your happiest day in life?

The day I got married because before I got married I was stigmatized that I was impotent. When I got married and I saw my first daughter, I have been proved to be potent.

You started the ministry in the 1980s despite nursing the dream of becoming a reputable engineer. How come you ended up being a minister of God?

I am a very shy person. I have said that my father did not wish that I go to school. From where I came from, we were all saw millers. I hail from Igbajo in Osun state and my mum is Ilesa-Ekiti. Actually, my great grandfather was from Ekiti.

There was a Akiriji war centuries ago and the Igbajo came to Efon Alaye in Ekiti to seek support of charm so that they can the war and in the process of negotiation, the Efon Alaye people then ask for what will they get in return if they win, they were promised landed property and the Igbajos won and some of the people from Efon Aalaye had to settle in Igbajo.

When I was growing up as young man, my father had a different plan for all his male children. He had eight installations around Ibadan and its environs. He will go to Ondo to get wood, process it and he has lots of wood processing centres.

He had a plan that none of his male children will go to school because he had three wives who were always fighting among the male kids. Although he sponsored female children to school, he did not want anyone to kill his Opomulero.

In 1968, I was in Primary 3 and 4. One of the people my father supported through school came home from Italy. He was the son of his senior brother. He came home from Italy and was trained as an Engineer. When he was coming to our house, he wore a suit called Sileto with baggy and my father house was a wooden stair and decking and when he was coming, his shoes was shouting and I was fascinated by the sound of the shoe that I ran to my father in his sitting home and I told him one uncle is here. He then reasoned that it was uncle Folly, who he sponsored to Italy.

Later, I went to meet my father, what is Uncle Folly doing and he said that he was an Engineer and I told him that I will like to study Engineering and my father dismissed the idea. He told me he had a plan and I ran to my mummy who pampered me who said that I should not worry.

After I finished my primary school in 1969-1970, he asked me what I wanted to do and he told me I will go to Ibadan and start the process of handing over his factory to me. But when it was time to pick me, I was not at home and by the time I surfaced, he asked where I was when he called me and I reinstated my stand that I wanted to do what Uncle Folly did.

He called me all manner of names but I was not moved. In the morning, I will eat and go and play football and when he realised that I will be a liability to him, he made a call through to Uncle Folly in P and T who was then in Kano. Uncle folly was the major contractor of NDA in Kano.

He them put me in the rail to Kano and my Uncle asked me what qualification did I have and he was shocked and he had to called my father. He then put me with some craft man where I learnt plastering of wall and everything around building works.

After four years, he gave me a well design certificate and I came back to Ibadan.

As a young boy, I started writing to apply as Engineer and I remembered I apply to a company in Bodija and the man looked at me and asked me who I was. I said I was an engineer and the man said ‘you are not an engineer but a bricklayer’.

In the certificate, bricklayer was not written there but masonry. So, I took the certificate and tore it. I went back home and began to ask what it takes to be an engineer and people told me that I had to write GCE and WAEC. I went back to the man who called me a bricklayer with my equipment.

I said I will work, do two or three days in a week and prepare for my GCE.  I passed two subjects as an external candidate. Then I took that to Ilesa and started from form five in one of the schools in Ilesa . I spent one year and I made my papers.

The question of what to do afterwards was an issue because my subject combination did not allow me to do what I wanted to do. I was given preliminary Medicine in Maduguri. I turned it down but I got admission to Ibadan Poly to study Technical and Building Engineering.

While I was doing the ND programme, I was doing professional courses that will qualify as a building engineer, which I eventually passed.

When I finished my ND and I was working, somehow a roommate of mine’s father had a project and they had a challenge doing the project and he mistakenly bought the project plan to my room. They had contacted United Kingdom and some people flew in from Italy.

While I sighted it and remembered what I learnt in school as a final year student, I told him that I can help even when they had hired experts from Italy. I got to the project site. I told them what to do and the problem was solved. My friend’s father was so excited that he paid for my graduation and he also promised to give me a job after school, which he eventually did.

Meanwhile, in my final year, God has been talking to me about working for him. As I joined the company, they made me the project manager for their plants and housing estate in Ibadan.

One day after my work, I got to the sites on plain ground earlier in the morning from nowhere. I had a snake bite and I queried God why and I had a voice telling me that I am operating in disobedience. I said no and God told that he took me through journey I went through so I can serve Him.

I responded I was already His servant and he said no. I then asked God whether He will heal me. I told people around to take me home so I can bid farewell to my wife. My wife was pregnant and they told her her husband had been bitten by snake.

She went straight to the church. It was the day of Bible study. People came and prayed over it and that was the end. From that time on, my wife told me that she did not want to be a widow. She was one of the major instruments for me to come into the ministry.

When I came to meet Pastor Adeboye that I wanted to serve God, I did not tell him it is going to be a full time work. But I knew what I am supposed to do in the youth ministry. I told him that the Lord wanted me to serve Him in the campus fellowship already launched.

Daddy Adeboye looked at me and said it is okay I should meet with Pastor Odeyemi, who is also an Assistant General Overseer who was his assistant then. He told me to take the title of our travel secretary to all our campuses.

By the time I did one year, RCCG churches in the north was one in Kaduna, which controls Kano and Jos. The man who was there left the church and changed the name. But Pastor Adeboye instructed me to go to the north and bring peace and the pieces left by the pastor that left so that the church will not scatter.

It was while I was there the call of God became clearer and I controlled the entire north, which was under my supervision. I moved from the North to Zambia and then the rest of the world. From Zambia, we planted churches in Kenya and South Africa.

How do you balance marriage with family?

Because my wife was instrumental to me accepting the call of God upon my life, I always reminded her that I don’t want to do this but you encouraged me. That gave me ample opportunity for me to do God’s work. She did well with my children because all my children wanted to marry pastor or they want to be a pastor.

My concern in life was not really about me but my children; how they will not hate the God I serve. But I thank God that all of them are doing well for the Lord.

You bagged 6 PhDs, four Masters and four degrees. Why the insatiable quest for knowledge?

I don’t think I know anything. What is steering up my interest in academics is just that the level that I did not know nothing. To be frank with you, I thank God I have not done anything I have not seen God raise the death through me. I have seen our Daddy in the Lord, Pastor Adeboye raise the dead. It is not fiction. I have not seen that in my ministry.

What steers my reading is the fact that I don’t know. The youths of this parish and my family has held meetings on me saying that I am over challenging them and I said no. I am only challenging myself because I don’t know anything. I just finished my 6th PhD but I am doing two studies now.

It is this insatiable and restlessness that I don’t know nothing. I have Bachelors’ Degree in Christian education, theology, musicology, Master in communication, Christian education, cultural anthropology study, law. I also have Doctoral Degrees in Theology, Christian Education, Business Administration, Law, and Cultural Anthropology and others with 40 different fellowships and I have authored 150 books

The place of knowledge for ministers of God cannot be over-emphasised.  Everyone that knows will control those that don’t know. If you are not informed, you will be deformed.

What are some challenges you have faced in ministry?

It takes time and extra sacrifice. As I key into God, He often times help me. God is the first in my life and my family second and the ministry third. If anything clashes with my family and the ministry, I choose my family first. The challenge of managing my family and training my children is my major concern. I started with N127 per month.

  • Pastors should go back to God – Apostle Embelede

THE General Overseer of God’s Ebiegberi Ministry, Apostle Green Kemeseigha Embelede, has called on clerics to return to the original word of God for the well-being of the nation.

Apostle Embelede made the call at the occasion of his ministry’s 30th anniversary celebration at Kpakiama, Bomadi local government area of Delta State.

Embelede, who recounted his ordeals in ministry, noted that church leaders have derailed from the message of salvation to teachings of miracles and healings in their congregations.

Quoting Hosea 4, Acts 8, Psalm 23, Genesis 4:3 and Luke 3:23, the cleric urged the body of Christ to go back to God, emphasising that such step would repair the bastardised state of the nation.

He disclosed that he was 30 when God called him on 16th July 1988 in Lagos to go back to his village, Kpakiama, to open a ministry with definite instructions.

“I am not against prophecy and healing but the message of salvation is rare and Christians nowadays go from one church to the other in search of miracles.

“Nigeria as a nation should go back to God. If Nigerian pastors actually know their God, what we are facing today in the country would not happen.

“Let pastors be sincere, let us teach the followership the true word of God, let those Christians in leadership positions in the country demonstrate their faith and not to compromise,” he said.

Leader of the men ministry, Mr Jacob Kampou, thanked God for the progress made so far within the thirty years operation of the ministry.

He noted the riverine area of the Niger Delta was tremendously blessed through the founder.
