    Leading member of the Enugu State House of Assembly and eminent frontline youth politician representing Ezeagu Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Works, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development in Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Chima Obieze has been invited as a speaker and special guest of honor at this year’s United Nations Future Leaders Model Summit holding in Istanbul, Turkey.

    In a letter signed by H.E. Ambassador Fawad Ali Langah who is the head of outreach for the Future Leaders Model United Nations and addressed to Hon.     The letter of invitation noted that right before the global pandemic, COVID-19, the world had witnessed a gathering of over 150 diversified participants from more than 45 nations at the inaugural edition of Future Leaders Model United Nations Istanbul in February 2020. It stated that the participants of the event debated, negotiated, and by using their exceptional diplomatic skills, drove resolutions on key global issues.

    In highlighting the broad participation, the organizers stated that the Future Leaders Model United Nations 2020 was honored to welcome the Counsel General of Brazil as the Chief Guest, along with the official spokesperson of UNHCR Turkey, Officials from UNDP Turkey and UN Turkey Association, Former President of Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, Advocate General Baluchistan, Government of Pakistan, Officials of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum who also endorsed the conference as a guest of honors.

    The invitation which was extended to Hon. Obieze to speak at this year 2021 submit is a testament to Hon.     Prada Uzodimma Law School Scholarship Grant has launched its application portal for indigent law school students.

    It stated the grant seeks to provide financial sponsorship to selected indigent law school aspirants across Nigeria.

    The Managing Partner of Principle Legal Consult, Prada Uzodimma, announced this in Abuja.

    She stated that the programme introduced in 2020 will provide its first batch of scholarships to the 2021 law school aspirants through an unbiased and meritorious selection process.

    Neymar has signed a contract extension with Paris St-Germain, keeping Brazil forward at the French giants until 30 June 2025.

    The 29-year-old said “happiness” was the main factor in signing a new deal.

    Neymar, who joined PSG in a world-record £200m deal in 2017, had been linked with a move away, including a return to Barcelona.

    “I have grown as a person here, as a human being and as a player, too,” he told the PSG website.

    Neymar was in the final year of his contract, having signed a five-year deal on his initial arrival.

    He has scored 85 goals and registered 51 assists in 112 games for PSG.

    However, he has had a difficult relationship with the club’s fans at times and was booed after expressing a desire to move back to Barcelona in 2019.

    Neymar said he had undergone a “very positive evolution” in his time at PSG.

    “I have learned a lot. Things have happened that should not have happened,” he said.

    The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has announced a call for submissions to the NESG Economic and Policy Review (EPR).

    The NESG Economic and Policy Review (EPR) is a bi-annual publication of the NESG which was established to serve as an avenue for constructive analysis of economic policies and their impacts on different aspects of the business and economic environment.

    The objectives of the EPR are to provide unbiased authoritative insights and opinions on the Nigerian economy, provide innovative solutions to key challenges facing the economy, and shape readers’ knowledge by providing in-depth analyses on trending national, international business and economic developments.

    In a statement by NESG Chief Economist and Director of Research & Development, Dr Olusegun Omisakin, the NESG urged economic enthusiasts to submit their manuscript for publication in the first edition of the EPR later this year.

    It said the manuscripts can focus on the general macroeconomic overview as well as those that explore various economic issues from a sectoral perspective.

    The Guidelines for Publication include that the manuscripts must be insightful, persuasive, original, and constructive with evidence-based analysis. They must also be relevant and cover current and future economic issues facing the country.

    The Ideas must be clearly communicated in a style that business owners, managers and policy makers can understand.

    The manuscript must take the following structure: Executive Summary; Introduction; Body; Policy Recommendation and Conclusion.

    Omisakin said: “Manuscripts should range from 1,500 to 2,500 words with font size 11, double- spaced in Times New Roman font, should be appropriately referenced using the American Psychological Association (APA) style.

    “Electronic copy of the manuscripts should be submitted to the NESG designated email address on or before the submission deadline.

    “Manuscripts published elsewhere or those under consideration will not be accepted and all manuscripts should be submitted to www.nesgroup.org/research.

    “Only manuscripts that adhere strictly to the stated guidelines will be considered and all manuscripts should be submitted on or before June 4th, 2021.”

    The Niger Delta Progressive Alliance (NDPA) on Saturday described as cheap blackmail and untrue an allegation that Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi and his wife Judith mismanaged Niger Development Development Commission (NDDC) funds.

    NDPA spokesperson, David Ikporukpo, in a statement urged the Presidency and the public to ignore the claim.

    The group said the allegation that the Amaechis and others used the funds meant for the commission for personal use was made by a “faceless” group, the Concerned Senior Staff Members of NDDC.

    It said the NDDC staff had, in a letter, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the allegations, while also removing Amaechi and Co from any future cabinet position.

    But responding, Ikporukpo said: “This is nothing but another cheap and unholy attempt to mar the good image of Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, his wife and other individuals mentioned in the press release which was released by the Concerned Senior Staff Members of NDDC.

    “As a progressive group which is committed to transparency and accountability, we hereby stand against any attempt to manipulate facts for pure selfish reasons.”

    According to him, the allegations against lacked merit as it was coming from a “faceless” group which was too “unscrupulous” to “show its identity.”

    Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has suffered a hamstring injury that could keep him out of the final stages of a thrilling title race in La Liga.

    Ramos made his first Real Madrid appearance in seven weeks when he played in the 2-0 UEFA Champions League semi-final second-leg defeat at Chelsea on Wednesday.

    But he has now suffered his third injury of the season, missing training ahead of the huge clash with title rivals Sevilla on Sunday.

    A club statement on Saturday read: “Following the tests carried out on Sergio Ramos by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with tendinosis in the semimembranosus muscle of his left hamstring.

    “His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

    Spanish media are already speculating whether this latest injury means Ramos has played his last match for Real Madrid.

    The 35-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to agree a renewal with just four matches left to play.

    After the Chelsea loss, Ramos issued a rallying cry to his team-mates, insisting Real Madrid had “a history built on victories but has always risen from defeats”.

    Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong has revealed that earning promotion to the English Premier League with Watford stands out as one of the best achievements in his career.

    The Hornets secured automatic promotion from the EFL Championship last weekend when they defeated Millwall 1-0, joining Norwich in returning to the English top flight less than a year after suffering relegation from it.

    Troost-Ekong joined Watford from Udinese in September 2020, swapping his gig in Serie A for the chance to try and help his new club earn their way back into the EPL. And after achieving exactly that, the 27-year-old Nigerian international ranks it as one of his best career moments.

    “Playing for the Super Eagles was one of the biggest achievements in my young career,” he told ESPN.

    “I have had other moments in time that meant a lot to me, like the promotion with FC Dordrecht [in the Netherlands] when I was 20 or 21 and also playing consistently in Turkey.

    “Playing in the Serie A, playing at the World Cup, Olympics, there are so many different moments. But I feel like this one means a lot more now.”
