  • PDP leads in Cross River

    The Peoples Democratic Party leads in three local governments so far released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

    The local governments are – Akpabuyo, Calabar South and Calabar Municipality.

    The PDP is leading with 52, 009. The All Progressive Congress is second with 14, 857. The Labour Party has 6, 294.

    Update: Tambuwal ahead in 18 Sokoto LGAs

    The All Progressive Congress governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, is leading in all the 18 local government areas whose results for Saturday’s governorship election have been released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

    The collation of the results took place at the Sultan Muhammadu Maccido Institute for Koran and General Studies, Sokoto.

    The Returning Officer, Prof. Abdul Bagudu, who is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, presided over the exercise.

    The results of the 18 LGAs are listed below:

    Wurno LGA: APC – 32,073 PDP- 6,876

    Dange/Shunni LGA: APC- 28,006 PDP- 12,244

    Silami LGA: APC -20,335 PDP- 7,800

    Gwadabawa LGA: APC- 33,227 PDP- 11,788

    Sokoto begins collation of polls’ results

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at exactly 7:07am on Sunday in Sokoto commenced collation of votes cast during Saturday’s governorship and state house of assembly elections.

    The Collation Officer, Prof Abdul Bagudu, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Usman Danfodio University, presided over the exercise.

    At the time of filing this report, results of the five local government areas have been released and they are listed below:

    Wurno LGA:  APC – 32,073  PDP- 6,876

    Update: Amosun wins eight LGs

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the results of the governorship election conducted in Ogun state with Governor Ibikunle Amosun winning in Eight Local Governments out of the 12 released.

    Amosun’s main challenger, Prince Gboyega Isiaka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won four.

    The Local Governments where the results are announced by INEC are Ewekoro (APC10735, PDP3275), Remo North (APC 7365, PDP6567), Ijebu – Ode (10570, PDP11381) and Odeda (APC10637, PDP3633) and Abeokuta North (APC 22740, PDP 6371.)

    Others are Ijebu North East (APC 5992, PDP 6780), Obafemi – Owode (APC 16333, PDP 6637), Abeokuta South (APC 35,511 PDP 10288), Ikenne (APC 11085, PDP 8686), Ifo( APC 28596, PDP 5818), Imeko (APC 8253, PDP 12412) and Odogbolu (APC 10129, PDP 10430).

     

     

     

  • Oyo: Folarin concedes defeat

    Oyo: Folarin concedes defeat

    As collation of results across the 33 local governments of Oyo State continued Saturday, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Teslim Folatin, has conceded defeat.

    He conceded defeat in a radio broadcast at about 9:30 pm Saturday, thanking voters for their support.

    Folarin, in the message aired on an Ibadan-based private radio station, Splash 105.5 FM, said feelers from his agents in polling units across the state confirmed that there was no way he could still win the election.

    “I thank our people for the support given to us during our campaign. It was humbling.
    “For the eventual winner, I congratulate him in advance and promise to personally call him when he is declared the winner. For us, the people have spoken and we respect their wish. Thank you,” Folarin said in the broadcast.

    The contest, as at press time, was among three former governors – Abiola Ajimobi, Rashidi Ladoja and Adebayo Alao-Akala.

    But Ajimobi was leading judging from unofficial results received by The Nation as at press time.

    APC leads in Ogun Assembly

    As at Saturday night, the APC had secured 14 out of the 26 House of Assembly seats in Ogun State – eight in Ogun central, two in Ado Odo/Ota, one each in Ikenne, odogbolu, Ijebu East and yewa North. The APC was leading in three other constituencies.

    APC, PDP in close race in Imo

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are in close race in Imo state. Some of the results from the Polling Units indicate that the APC governorship candidate, Rochas Okorocha is leading in Njaba, Nkwerre, Onuimo, Okigwe, Owerri North, Owerri Municipal, Owerri West,  Ideato South and Ideato North Local Government Areas.

    While the PDP governorship candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, is leading in Aboh-Mbaise, Ahiazu-Mbaise, Ezinihitte, Oguta, Ohaji-Egbema.

    The early results show that both candidates are wining in their party’s strongholds.

    Ortom beats Tarzoor at Benue Govt House

    Benue State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Chief Samuel Ortom, defeated his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent Terhemen Tarzor  at the Government House Polling unit.

    Ortom scored 145 votes to Tarzoor’s 119. 

    Also at Annunne Market Square Polling Unit in Tarka local Government area, the APC polled 324 votes as against the PDP which scored 14 votes.

    Tarzoor polled 152 votes at the Ankpa Ward Polling Unit, an area where he grew up to beat Ortom with 150 votes.

    The governorship candidate of the PDP in Adamawa state, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu scored 109 votes in his unit (11) of Bako ward to beat his closest opponent, Senator Jibrilla Mohammad Bindow of the APC who scored 100 votes, while the candidates of PDM and SDP scored 14 and 43 votes respectively.
