  • PDP wins three Senate, six Reps seat in Ekiti

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) grabbed all the National Assembly seats in Ekiti State from the results declared by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).

The PDP won all the three senatorial districts and five of the six federal constituencies declared on Sunday in an official result released by the electoral agency in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The implication of the result is that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not have any representative in the National Assembly in the next legislative dispensation expected to run from June 2015 to June 2019.

Two serving senators, Olubunmi Adetunmbi and Anthony Adeniyi, who are APC candidates for Ekiti North and Ekiti South respectively, lost their re-election bid to PDP candidates.

PDP senatorial candidate for Ekiti North and former House of Representatives member, Duro Faseyi, polled 50, 023 votes to beat Adetunmbi who garnered 35, 376 votes.

Former Deputy Governor, Mrs. Abiodun Olujimi, clinched the Ekiti South senatorial seat by defeating Adeniyi. She scored 62, 344votes while Adeniyi could only muster 37, 932 votes.

Another former House of Representatives member and PDP candidate in Ekiti Central, Mrs. Fatimat Rasaki polled 54, 459 votes to beat APC candidate, Gbenga Olofin who obtained 41, 607 votes.

In the House of Representatives poll, five APC candidates lost their bid to return to their seats in the Green Chamber.

Chairman, House Committee on Communications, Oyetunde Ojo, lost to PDP candidate, Olumide Oni in Ijero/Ekiti West/Efon Federal Constituency.

Oni scored 27, 658 votes to win the seat leaving APC candidate, Ojo with 20, 083.

House Committee Vice Chairman on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Bimbo Daramola’s 17, 768 votes was not enough to win him a re-election as he lost to PDP candidate, Kehinde Agboola, who scored 24, 129 in Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency.

Another serving federal lawmaker who lost his seat at the poll was the member representing Ido-Osi/Moba/Ilejemeje Federal Constituency who flew the APC flag at the poll, Robinson Ajiboye, who lost to PDP’s Thaddeus Aina.

Aina, former Ido-Osi council chairman, polled 23, 585 votes to beat Ajiboye who scored 15, 834.

PDP candidate, Akin Awodumila, beat the lawmaker representing Emure/Gbonyin/Ekiti East Federal Constituency and APC candidate, Bamidele Faparusi, by polling 25, 648 votes while Faparusi obtained 17, 437 votes.

Incumbent House member representing Ekiti Southwest/Ikere/Ise-Orun Federal Constituency and APC candidate, Dr. Ife Arowosoge lost to PDP candidate, Segun Adekola at Saturday’s election.

Adekola won the seat by polling 33,288 votes leaving Arowosoge with 19, 432 votes.

The last House of Reps seat in contention was that of Ado/Irepodun-Ifelodun Federal Constituency where PDP candidate, Ayotunde Oladimeji defeated APC candidate and former Commissioner for Education, Dr. Eniola Ajayi.

Oladimeji polled 35,494 votes to beat Dr. Ajayi who received 17, 768 at the polls.

  • Buhari ahead in Oyo

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, is leading across Oyo State in the ongoing announcement of results of the election in the 33 local government areas of the state.

He beat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Goodluck Jonathan, in the results of 14 out of 15 local governments so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

Aside beating Jonathan in Ona-Ara, the local government of the PDP’s governorship candidate, Sen. Teslim Folarin, and Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Jumoke Akinjide by over 5,000 votes, Buhari is coasting to victory with similar wide gaps in 13 other councils announced.

The councils are ATISBO, Saki East, Iwajowa, Oyo West, Ibarapa East, Atiba, Iddo, Oluyole and Kajola.

Others are AFIJIO, Oorelope and Irepo and Iseyin. But Jonathan won with 400 votes in Itesiwaju Local Government, where the current senator representing Oyo North District, Hosea Agboola, hails from.

Results of the senatorial election was yet to be announced as at press time.

  • Kebbi election results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to declare the results of the presidential, Senatorial and House of Representatives elections conducted on Saturday.

Sources say the late arrival of materials on voting day which led to late conclusion of voting is largely responsible for the development.

The massive turnout of voters during the poll is also said to be another factor why collation of results at the wards and local government level have been unduly delayed.

As at the time of filing this report, no collated result from any of the local governments has arrived at the state capital, Birnin-Kebbi.

However, investigation revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is ahead is some of the results announced at polling units and wards so far.

  • APC put Nigerians on manipulation plans

APC put Nigerians on manipulation plans

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted Nigerians and the international community to ongoing plans by the PDP-led Jonathan Administration to tamper with the results of Saturday’s elections and circumvent the people’s will.

”The information that we have received since we issued our last statement is to the effect that the Administration is holding clandestine meetings with security chiefs and others with the sole aim
of altering or scuttling the results, which they consider to be highly embarrassing and unpalatable, using malleable RECs,” the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

It warned that nothing but the authentic results held by the party agents and all other stakeholders will be acceptable to the party, and that whoever is planning to do otherwise should weigh its implication on the survival of the nation’s democracy.

APC said the moves to manipulate the results are also being replicated in some of the states, including Bauchi where everything is being done to reverse the outcome, and Imo, where many aides of the Governor are being brutalized and arrested in hordes.

”We know they are stunned dizzy by the crushing defeat which has been inflicted on them across the nation, going by the results in the hands of our agents. We know they have activated their paid media channels to seek to confuse Nigerians by making outlandish claims that their presidential candidate is leading in the elections. We know they are counting on malleable RECs to thwart the will of the people, and we know they have no qualms about plunging the nation into crisis just because of narrow interests.

”This is why we are putting on red alert all the good people of Nigeria who trooped out in large numbers, defying the sun and the rain and against all odds, to vote for change. We are also by this statement calling on the international community to urgently prevail on the Nigerian authorities not to tamper with the results of the elections as expressed by Nigerians.

”As we have said many times, we will accept the outcome of the elections if they are free and fair. What we will not accept is the manipulated outcome of the polls,” the party said.

  • Aliero seeks declaration of election results

Former Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Adamu Aliero, on Sunday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare election results as expressed by the people.

Aliero, who spoke to our correspondent at his country home in Birnin-Kebbi, insisted that the will of the people must be allowed to prevail for the sustenance of democracy in the country.

The Kebbi Central Senatorial candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) however expressed satisfaction in the election conducted so far.

He added that the voter turnout was unprecedented in the state.

Aliero said: “My message to INEC is that they should declare the election results as expressed by the people.

“The will of the people must be allowed to prevail and that is the only way democracy can be sustained in Nigeria.

“They have introduced card reader which is a very good innovation. It has minimized or completely eliminated rigging.

“In future, I urge them to address all the minor problems we encountered so that elections can be conducted without any hitch whatsoever.”

On the voting in Kebbi State, he said the process has been very orderly.

He added: “The people are law abiding and the process is very good in the sense that it has followed the laid down procedure as outlined in the Electoral Act and the INEC guidelines.

“There is no problem whatsoever. Generally speaking, the conduct of the election was peaceful in Kebbi.

“There were only two or three places where elections could not commence in time because of the problem of the card reader.

“The machines had to be configured and that is why elections could not commence in good time and because of that it was extended till today (yesterday).

“Hopefully, they will finish today (yesterday) and the results will be sent to the collation centres for collation and announcement.”

  • PDP faults emerging poll results, claims winning in 23 states

The presidential campaign organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted results emerging from Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
The results which have been trickling in from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) sources, indicate that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has maintained a clear lead in the race.

But at a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday, the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP presidential campaign, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode expressed concerns about the results.

He described the results as disinformation and falsehood being peddled around by “friends of the opposition in the media, particularly their paid agents and associates”.
Fani-Kayode said: “Since yesterday afternoon they have been releasing fake results and they have been attempting to mislead the Nigerian people and our friends in the international community.

“The public have been inundated with lie after lie about the APC’s so-called victories in virtually every single polling booth, ward, local government area and state in the country. This is not only nonsensical but it is also far-fetched, absurd and childish.

“We use this medium to call on our friends in the social media, the party faithful and all President Goodluck Joanthan Support Groups not to remain silent in the face of these shenanigans.

“They should speak out on what they know about the propaganda and falsehood of the opposition APC. They should not be intimidated at all by the opposition’s desperate and reprehensible antics. They should set the record straight and not allow themselves to be robbed of a well-earned victory.

“The reports that we are getting from the field is that our candidate is doing very well in the south and north central and that we are making very strong inroads into various states in the core north.

“The motive for the lies and disinformation of the APC is to create high expectations for their supporters so that when the real results come out and they are announced by INEC, and when those real results do not tally with the fake results that the APC have told their agents and friends to release, they will begin to run riot, create havoc and kill people”.

The PDP campaign said the ruling party was winning in 23 states with 64 percent while the APC was winning in 14 states with 36 percent. “These results are subject to confirmation by the Independent National Electoral Commission”, he added.

Continuing, he said: “We are certain of what we are saying because we have information from our agents in every polling unit nationwide. No one must test our will by attempting to change these results and the APC should desist from pushing this nation to the brink of fire, chaos and destruction with their dirty lies and propaganda.

“This is irresponsible and dangerous and we hereby warn the APC and their agents in the media to stop spreading falsehood and telling dangerous lies.

“We also call on the security agencies to be vigilant because when the truth of their defeat finally dawns on them the APC and Buhari will not take it very lightly.

“We should all patiently wait for INEC to release the official results of all the elections and until then we call on our supporters and party members to hold their heads up high, to remain confident and strong and to hold their peace.

“Though it is undoubtedly a close race, we at the PDP are cautiously confident and we are very optimistic of total victory despite the desperation, lies and disinformation of the APC. At the end of the day we have no doubt that President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP shall prevail.”

  • APC will not accept falsified results – Ewang

The Akwa Ibom State chairman, Buhari Campaign Organisation, Group Captain Samuel Ewang (rtd), has warned that the All Progressives Congress will not accept any falsified results in the 2015 general election.

Ewang said some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had been bribed by the Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio to falsify election results.

He spoke to reporters in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Sunday.

The former military administrator said INEC officials were in the Government House, writing different figures which they intend to present for announcement as authentic results.

He stated that with the cooperation of the people of Akwa Ibom State, the APC swept the polls in over 90 per cent of the units.

His words: “I want to use this opportunity to thank the good people of Akwa Ibom State for their understanding and faith in the change Akwa Ibom and indeed Nigeria need.

“With the cooperation of the people of Akwa Ibom State, the All Progressives Congress swept the polls in over 90 per cent of the units – that for the first time signified a free and fair election held throughout yesterday, the 28th March 2015, in Akwa Ibom State since 2007.

“We have been receiving intelligence information, currently the intelligence reports reaching me confirm that the Akpabio administration, Akpabio himself and his teams are presently writing falsified results in collaboration with some INEC officials, whom they have bribed with over N2.5billion, after which they will release the falsified results instead of the actual results that were obtained from the fields on Saturday and today.

“We had followed the activities of PDP in Akwa Ibom since the elections preparation started. We realized among other things that after training all the returning officers, the state government in collaboration with INEC cancelled the names of many of those they suspected were not going to cooperate with them in their evil designs even after wasting money to train them for three days.”
