    INEC declares APC’s Badaru winner in Jigawa

    The All Progressoves Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mohammadu Badaru has been declared winner of the gubernatorial election Jigawa State.

    He defeated his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent, Mallam Aminu Ringim by 648,045 in 23 Local Government Areas (LGA) of the State to 479,447 in four LGs.

    Collation Officer, Prof James Ayatse made the declaration early Monday morning following the completion of collation of results from the 27 LGAs.

    The incumbent governor, Sule Lamido, who is serving his second term lost in his Birni kudu LGA, as APC had the upper hand with 45,258 votes to PDP’s 31,166 votes.

    PDP gubernatorial candidate, Malam Aminu Ringim had a slim victory with 32,861 over his APC opponent, Mohammadu Badaru, who had 30,984 in Ringim LGA.

    Badaru however defeated his opponents with a wide of margin of 36,911 votes to PDP’s 18,542 votes his Babura Local Governments Area.

    Benue: APC’s Ortom declared winner

    The Independent Electoral Commission ( INEC) has declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress ( APC), Chief Samuel Ortom as the winner of the election held last Saturday in Benue State.
    Ortom polled 422,932 votes to defeat PDP’s candidate, Terhemen Tarzor who had 313, 878 votes.
    Ortom’ election was greeted with jubilation across the state.
    Tarzoor of the PDP has congratulated Ortom on his victory.
    In a telephone call by 9.40pm on Sunday, Tarzoor said he aspired for the position so as to have the opportunity to make his contributions to the development of the state.
    He said Chief Ortom’s election was a clear indication that Benue people have spoken.
    He wished the Governor- elect a successful tenure of office and God’s blessings.

    All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Abubakar Sani Bello has been declared winner of the Niger State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

    ‪He won with 593,702 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (‪PDP) candidate, Umar Nasko, polled 239, 772 votes and Yakubu Umar of the ADC who scored 2, 144 votes.‬

    ‪The results were announced at the early hours of Monday by Prof. Abdulganiyu Hambali, the Returning Officer for Niger State Governorship election in Minna.‬

    ‪”Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello of the APC having certified the requirements of the law and scoring the highest votes cast, is hereby declared the winner of the governorship election held April 11, 2015,” Ayilara said.‬

    APC’s Bagudu wins Kebbi guber election

    Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Senator Atiku Bagudu, has won the state’s gubernatorial elections.

    Aside Bagudu, almost all APC House of Assembly candidates also won their elections.

    The APC won 19 out of the 21 Local Governments in the state leaving only two for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Gen. Sarkin Yaki Bello.

    Kebbi comprises of 21 LGs.

    The results were announced by the collation officer for the governorship election in the state, Prof. Lawal Mohammed.

    The PDP won only two LGs.

    The APC won the elections landslide.

    According to Lawal the total registered voters in the state are 1,454,369 out of which a total of 873,542 were accredited vote.
    He stated that the total valid votes were 778,364 while the number of rejected votes was 34,875 bringing the total vote cast to 813,239.

    Bagudu polled 477,376 votes to defeat PDP’s Gen. Bello who scored 293,443 votes.

    Kwara: Ahmed wins

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate as the winner of the governorship election held last Saturday.

    The Returning Officer of the election in the state, Professor Musbau Akanji, while collating election results as brought by the Collating Officers from the 16 local government areas of the state said Governor Ahmed led in all the 16 local governments areas of the state.

    The APC candidate polled a total of 295, 832 votes to defeat Senator Simeon Ajibola of the PDP who polled 115, 220 votes. Dr. Mike Omotosho of Labour Party scored 2, 973 votes.

    The scores as announced by the INEC returning officer showed that Governor Ahmed won in all the 16 local government areas of the state.

    Governor Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressive Congress is leading in 20 out of the 27 local government areas so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Imo State.

    According to reports, the governor is leading his closest challenger by over 50, 000 votes.

    Guber Poll: Observers call for cancellation of Rivers result

    International election observers on Sunday called for the cancellation of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers.

    The leader of African Centre for Leadership Strategies and Development, Mr Humphrey Bekaren, who spoke on behalf of the observers, made the call in Port Harcourt.

    He said the observers were shocked that INEC disregarded the widely reported violent irregularities to begin the process of declaring results in the state.

    ‘’ We request all lovers of democracy to join us in calling for the outright cancellation of the phony election.

    ‘’ Unless this is done, we would have sown the seed that could eventually grow into providing a shade of fear and death over us,’’ he said.

    According to Bekaren, what happened in Rivers was a far cry from what election should be.

    ‘’ What we saw did not meet international standard of electioneering, not even the ones set by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC,’’ he said.

    He said there were reported incidents like deliberate delays and diversion of electoral materials, attacks on electoral officers, widespread arson and voter intimidation.

    The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Rivers, Mrs Gesila Khan, said INEC cancelled election in centres with reported electoral malpractices.

    She said re-run elections took place in six local government areas in the state where electoral malpractices were reported.

    He had also served with the Bauchi state government from 1983 to 1992, rising to the position of a Deputy Director, before transferring his service to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, where he finally delved into the private sector as a professional builder.

    APC wins governorship election in Bauchi

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Bauchi State, Mohammed  Abubakar, was on Sunday declared winner of the state governorship election.

    Announcing the result of the election on Sunday in Bauchi, the Reurning Officer, Prof. Mohammed Faruk, said Abubakar polled 654,934 votes, to defeat nine other contestants.

    His closest opponent, Mr Mohammed Jatau of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), secured 282,650 votes.

    Declaring Abubakar as the winner, Prof. Faruk said that the APC candidate had satisfied Section 179(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, having garnered highest number of total votes cast, and also secured the minimum number of votes required in each of the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

    With official announcement of the result, the state now has Barr. Mohammed Abubakar as the governor-elect, with Nuhu Gidado , as his deputy.

    Abubakar, born on 11th Dec.1956,attended Native Authority Primary School, Jos and Tudun Wada Primary School, Kano, from 1963 to 1969; Government College, Kano, 1970 to 1974.

    In 1974, he enrolled for the one year programme  of the School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, after which, upon successful completion of the programme, gained admission into the institution to study law in 1975.

    The governor-elect completed his law studies in 1978, attended the Nigeria Law School from 1978 to 1979, had his mandatory National Youth Service Corps  and joined the services of Bauchi state government as a Pupil State Council, Ministry of Justice.

    Key positions he held while serving with the state government were Head of Legal Drafting Department, Bauchi State House of Assembly (1983), Director, Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice (1988) and Commissioner of Justice (1990 to 1993.

    He was also the Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association, Bauchi State,from 1996 to 1998.

    After leaving the services of the state government, Abubakar was at different times, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kogi, Delta, Plateau and Rivers , and afterwards elevated to the position of National Commissioner in charge of Borno, Jigawa and Yobe.

    The deputy-governor –elect, Nuhu Gidao, was born on 5th October, 1958.

    He attended the then prestigious Barewa College, Zaria, from where he proceeded to ABU Zaria to bag a degree in Building Engineering.

    Ex-Speaker, Masari is winner of Katsina poll

    A former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari has been declared winner of last Saturday governorship election in Katsina State.

    Announcing the results of the elections in Katsina, the state Returning Officer, Lawal Bilbis, said the former Speaker Scored 943,085 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Musa Nashuni, who scored 476,768.

    Mr. Bilbis said that PDM candidate, Yakubu Lado, came third with 50,361 votes, while Umar Abdullahi of APGA secured 42,302 votes.

    The retuning officer said that seven political parties took part in the election.

    “Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, Aminu Bello Masari of APC is declared the winner and returned”.

    Speaking with newsmen at his residence, the former Speaker paid tribute to the people of the state for turning out enmass to elect him, promising that he will not disappoint the people in discharging his electoral promise.

    Masari, who said that his main target will be to restore the lost glory of the state in the area of education and human capital development.

    INEC declares Ambode winner of Lagos poll

    Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progress Congress will take the baton from Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) as governor of Lagos State come May 29 after his victory in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

    The former Accountant General in the state defeated his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenger, Mr. Olujimi Agbaje and three others in a keenly contested poll supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

    The state’s Collation Officer, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who is also the Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan, commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections.

    Ambode won in 15 local government areas, while his PDP rival clinched five local councils.

    The APC candidate polled 811, 994 votes, while Agbaje scored 659, 788 votes.

    ” Ambode having polled the highest number of votes cast in the election and satisfied the mandatory 25 per cent requirement in all the local governments is hereby declared elected as governor of the state,” Prof. Adewole said.
