An Oyo State Family Court sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, yesterday remanded a 50-year-old man Gboyega Lasisi, for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his seven-year-old daughter.
Magistrate P.O. Adetuyibi, remanded Lasisi in the Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo town pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She adjourned till July 6 for mention.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the police charged Lasisi with a one-count charge of defilement.
Prosecuting Inspector Folake Ewe alleged that the defendant, on March 22, had unlawful sexual intercourse with his seven-year-old daughter.
Ewe said the offence was committed in the Aro area of Ilora, in Afijio Local Government Area of the state.
According to her, the offence contravened Section 34 of Oyo State Child Rights Law, 2006.
