NEDC-EEF to stamp out illiteracy, poverty in Northeast

The North East Development Commission Education Endowment Fund (NEDC-EEF) has expressed commitment to eradicate illiteracy and endemic poverty in the region.

Chairman, Board of Trustees of the fund, David Kente, stated this at the inauguration of the board by the Chairman of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Gen. Paul Tarfa (Rtd).

Kente said the board would work for the development of sufficient human capital to acquire an adequate capacity for infrastructural and socio-economic development of the region.

He said that the fund would build human capacity for the Northeast zone, through scholarship endowment; offer citizens of member states equal opportunities in ICT skill acquisition and educational training at graduate and post-graduate levels.
