Secretary to the Government of Yobe State (SSG), Baba Wali has stated he is not aware of any law  which prevents working mothers to breastfeed in workplaces.

Wali, who fielded questions from reporters as part of the occasion to mark the World Breastfeeding Week said the government was working very hard to encourage the culture of exclusive breastfeeding by mothers.

He said Yobe State is taking the sensitisation campaign seriously to ensure that friendly environment are provided for breastfeeding mothers especially the working-class mothers, as well as sensitisation visits on stakeholders to scale up the awareness.

The SSG regretted the low percentage of breastfeeding in the state, which he explained is as low as 12.6% while attributing the low percentage to the current COVID -19 pandemic.
