Suspected assassins on Wednesday killed Mufutau Olayemi, a lecturer at D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State.

The Nation gathered that Olayemi, who heads the Electrical Engineering Department, was trailed to Itori area by gunmen in an unmarked vehicle. He was shot at close range.

Olayemi died in his car while the culprits left without taking anything from him or his car. The deceased was said to be returning from a conference.

Police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said the command is treating it as a case of assassination, stressing that detectives from the homicide section have been despatched to the area to investigate the matter.
