    CHIEFTAINCY TITLE EXCITES 2FACE

    FROM being a corporate brand ambassador, the success of the career of Pop star, 2Face Idibia, has also earned him a traditional recognition, as the singer, on Tuesday, was honoured with the chieftaincy title of Tafidan Kudenda, in Kudenda, Kaduna State.

    Shortly before the ceremony, 2Face who sent tweets via his Twitter handle said, “From Kaduna with love. I’m so grateful and honoured! About to be crowned as the “Tafidan Kudendan” of Kudendan.”

    Although the singer hails from Benue State, the title was said to be given to him for his humanitarian services rendered through the 2Face Idibia Foundation, an NGO noted for the #VoteNotFight campaign during the last general elections.

    Tafidan Kudenda which connotes Peace Ambassador of Kudenda has further placed the singer in the spotlight as role model to the thousands of youths who enjoy his music, while also earning him a place among leaders in the country.

    2Face who turned 40 recently, was at the Government House, Kaduna to pay a courtesy visit to Governor Nasir el-Rufai, after the turbaning.

    IN what promises to be a fun night of the best of music and stand-up comedy converge at ‘MC Amana Dis-Speakable Me’ in Abuja on Sunday, September 27. the event which holds at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton features ace comedian Ali Baba, Hip hop king 2Face, Phyno and Daniel Wilson among other entertainers.

    According to the show’s organiser, Sundiatta Events, the show promises lots of fun that will be unforgettable for the residents of Abuja and environs desirous of premium entertainment packaged in the best traditions of MC Amana.

    A statement signed by Cecilia Agu of Sundiatta Events revealed that apart from 2Face, Phyno, Ali Baba and Daniel Wilson that will headline the “September-To-Remember” thriller, other acts billed to perform include Niyola, Tony Oneweek, MC Abbey, Chigurl and Chuks D General. The rest are Onome Da Saint, Kenny Blaq, Short Cut, Igos, Nwando, DJ Alex and DJ TTB.

    “MC Amanna, popular for his creative contributions to the industry and his unique style of comedy hosting, has worked with all the greats,” said Agu. “Well respected for his commitment to the art, he is now stepping out and standing out to carve out a niche for himself in the world of comedy with his own brand of Stand-up Comedy: A fine blend of freshness and seasoned experience. Stand-up Comedy just got better.”

    At the Fortyfied concert, held on Sunday to celebrate the life and music of the legendary 2face Idibia, there was enough fun to go round. Eko Hotel, venue of the concert was filled to the brim with guests of the artiste who were treated to a good dose of music.

    However, one of the highpoints of the evening was 2face’s joint performance with his fellow entertainer, D’banj. Guests were thrilled when the duo mounted the stage to perform the song, I’m Feeling Good which was produced by Don Jazzy.

    Following the performance, the celebrant pleaded with D’banj and his former partner, Don Jazzy, to consider reuniting with a view to treat their fans to something better.

    Apparently impressed by the output, 2face said amidst cheers from the crowd; “Don Jazzy and D’banj, abeg make una do one more hit song, just one. I take God beg una.”

    D’banj responded saying: “Sure! It’s going to happen just for you, abi Don Jazzy.” Don Jazzy in turn affirmed by nodding his head.

    THE 40th birthday celebration of popular musician 2Face Idibia continues, as Star, popular Nigerian lager beer, will hold an All-Star tribute concert today at Eko Hotel, Lagos.

    Tagged #Fortyfied, the concert will be hosted by star comedian Basketmouth and will feature Star Music Trek performers DJ Jimmy Jatt, Burna Boy, Sound Sultan, Blackface, Seyi Shay, Wande Coal, DJ Neptune, Gbenga Adeyinka and Wizkid in addition to D’Banj, Patoranking, Dammy Krane, Timaya, Gloria Ibru, 9ice, DJ Spinall, Omawumi, DR Victor Olaiya, Vector and many others. 2Face will also perform some of his hit songs as well as some of lesser known songs.

    The event is packaged by Hypertek Digital and Buckwyld Media.

    Over the years, 2Face has enjoyed a relationship with Star Lager, spanning various concerts such as Star Mega Jam and Star Music Trek as a member of the Plantashun Boyz. The relationship continued even after he went solo.

    THE Gbagada Open Field, Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos, witness so much energy from performers and fans at the last leg of the much publicised Star Music Trek, an annual pan-Nigerian concert, sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc.

    The show brought together the biggest names in Nigerian music industry such as 2Face Idibia, Seyi Shay, Cynthia Morgan, MI, Burna Boy, Runtown, Sound Sultan, Young Grey C, Immaculate, Pepenazi, Sean Tizzle, Joe El, DJ Xclusive, DJ Big N, Lafup, MC Gbenga Adeyinka and several others.

    The fun started hours before the music artistes were called to the stage one after another, as DJ Xclusive and DJ Big N kept the crowd engaged, even as some upcoming artistes and music wannabes alike were given a platform to shine, performing before over 10,000 people at the packed venue.

    Pepenazi got on stage with a rousing performance of smash hit “Illegal” which he performed alongside his brother Do2dtun of Cool FM. With the crowd still screaming “Illegal!” and dancing raucously, Young Grey C hit the stage to raise the noise level a decibel higher with smash hit “Chukwuma”. Joe El also made an appearance, moving the crowd with renditions of “Hold On” and “Chukwudi”.

    Vivace Records’ act Immaculate was next up with “GoGo Baby” and “Osanle” which kept the crowd warm until Seyi Shay stepped out to a wall of noise  the night’s first established superstar was finally onstage. To the delight of the boisterous crowd, she started off with a special version of “Irawo” and moved on to popular favourites “Murda” and “Jangilova”.

    Sean Tizzle made his way onstage dressed in a gleaming white suit with black loafers. Starting off with smash hit “Sho Lee”, he thrilled the crowd with “Loke Loke”, “Mama Eh”, “Kilogbe”, “Bottles” and “Rara”. He then created a major talking point of the night with a mock wedding onstage while performing his hit wedding favourite “Perfect Gentleman.” The crowd could not have enough of Sean Tizzle and he was overwhelmed with the response to his performance, throwing his wristwatch, bracelets, eyeglasses, jacket and tie to the ecstatic audience.

    Next on the line was Sound Sultan who entered with his customary ninja routine and live band. The crowd sang along enthusiastically to “Natural Something”, “Bushmeat”, and “Mathematics”. Immaculate then joined him onstage for a hilarious dance routine while he performed “Orobo”, much to the delight of the audience.

    2Face Idibia got fans cheering with his catalogue of hit songs. They include “For Instance”, “Ole”, “Only Me”, “Implication” and “Ihe Ne Me”. He then created one of the night’s biggest surprises when he brought Olu Maintain onstage for a surprise performance of their collaboration “Cinderella” to the delight of the increasingly boisterous crowd.

    Runtown also wowed the crowd with hits such as “The Latest”, “Banger”, “Successful”, “Gallardo” and “Baby Answer” which kept the crowd dancing Morgan then made a spectacular entrance, flanked by several stage dancers all of whom wore her trademark red hair.

    Burna Boy arrived to close a night of fantastic entertainment with a flourish. After performing “Amorawa”, “Tonight” and “Smoke Some Weed”, he then took it a notch higher by throwing a fistful of money into the crowd. He subsequently ran offstage and jumped into the crowd which joyfully carried him as he performed “Run My Race.”

    It will be recalled that the 2015 Star Music Trek kicked off in Calabar. The show then stopped at Abakaliki, Awka, Makurdi, Sapele, Benin, and Ibadan before last Saturday’s grand finale in Lagos.

    IT was home-coming for 2Face Idibia, who was at the show group mate, Faze of the defunct Plantashun Boiz. But with an impressive line-up of artistes that include Kcee, Yemi Alade, MI, Jo El and Runtown, Makurdi, the Benue State capital came alive last Saturday when the Star Music Trek team stormed the city.

    It was the kick-off leg of the second phase of the pan-Nigerian road show, which also had top-rated Deejays such as, Dj Neptune, DJ and Tony Blaze, and hosted by popular Master of Ceremonies, Gbenga Adeyinka.

    Staged at the IBB Square arena, the show wore a carnival-like atmosphere, featuring amazing performances from upcoming local talents who were given the opportunity to perform on stage.

    Dance crew the Tythanz started the show with a dance medley, which ended with Jo El’s popular single, Oya Now. Jo El then emerged for a surprise cameo appearance, which got one of the loudest cheers of the night.

    Next on the list was Runtown who made an energetic debut on this year’s edition of Star Music Trek. The artiste drew from his songs such as Gallardo, Successful, The Banger, Bend Down Pause and The Latest.

    KceeKCee who thrilled the crowd for about 30 minutes brought his A-game to bear, performing songs like the popular Pullover, Limpopo, Hakuna Matata and Your Face. Adding to the excitement, the Limpopo master as he is fondly called, gave out N70, 000 to two lucky members of the audience following an impromptu dance contest.

    One of the cheering moments of the night happened when Yemi Alade who just won the Best Female Act at the 2015 MAMAs, made a grand entrance with the smash hit Taking Over Me. This was followed by renditions of the popular Johnny, Kissing, Na God, Tangerine and a number of other successful singles off her award-winning debut album.

    With tracks like Kolomental, My brother and Originality, Faze evoked memories of his return to the music scene a few years back. MI then showed up in a haze of smoke and flashing lights and the crowd promptly went berserk.

    He performed Monkey, Beef, Bullion Van and finally, the popular African Rapper Number One. And similar to Kcee’s stunt, MI who spotted a fan reciting his lyrics perfectly invited him to the stage, took off his Gold MK watch and gave it to the bewildered fan.

    And then came the moment everyone had been waiting for  hometown hero 2Face finally made his appearance onstage with the frenzied hometown crowd struggling with the stage security. Quickly, he launched into his considerable catalogue of hits with songs like Rainbow,  Implication, One love, African Queen and several others.

    Although the 2015 general elections are over, the ‘One Voice Peace Concert’ spearheaded by award-winning singer, 2Face Idibia appears to have more to offer.

    At the Classique Event Center recently, fans were wowed with a collection of hit songs from the artiste’s repertoire, even as 2Face and his team seized the opportunity to sensitise all on the need for post-election involvement in the activities of the nation and its government.

    Speaking exclusively to The Nation, 2Face shed light on the essence of the concert. “We are here to talk to Nigerian youths about peaceful co-existence and also for them to be monitoring governance,” he said.

    According to him, “Over the years, the future of Nigeria has been squandered. But all hope is not lost, we can still rebuild Nigeria. Our generation has really lost a lot. We really want to influence the youths positively.”

    The singer further stated how the concert integrates peaceful co-existence among youths and the general public. “Music is a powerful tool, and it is one of the channels we are using to influence and sensitise the publics,” 2Face adds.

    Acknowledging what the concert stands for, the event planner, Helen Abutu said: “One Voice Peace Concert is a continuation or the second phase of the Vote Not Fight Campaign.”

    Hosted in collaboration with 2Face’s Foundation and other non-governmental organizations, the show also featured performances by artistes such as Reminisce, Olu Maintain, Ice Prince, Sound Sultan, Phyno, Efa, Niyola, YunggreyC, Suspect, DJ Neptune, Joe El, Vector, Uzi, Yemi Alade, Timi Dakolo, Harrysong, Illbliss, Sexy Steel, Naeto C and several others.

    The popular pan Nigerian concert, Star Music Trek, sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc., will resume its second leg in Makurdi, this Saturday.

    Scheduled for the IBB Square, beginning from 7pm, the concert is expected to feature performances by some of the biggest names on the Nigerian music scene, such as 2Face, MI, Faze, Yemi Alade, KCee, Runtown, DJ Neptune and DJ Tony Blaze.

    Returning its regular host, Gbenga Adeyinka, the show had earlier held in Calabar, Abakaliki and Awka. Organisers say the second phase “aims to continue with the theme of inspiration and promoting success by inspiring youths with captivating performances in Makurdi, Sapele, Auchi, Ibadan and Lagos.”

    Speaking on the upcoming concert tagged #MakurdiRocks! 2Face who hails from Benue State said, “This is where it all began for me so obviously it’s a highly emotional experience. It’s a bit like a homecoming and I can’t wait to get in front of the crowd in my home state and show them some of the love they have showed me. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to perform for my people at home on such a large national platform. Credit to Star Lager.”

    IT would be a battle of sounds as veteran music stars, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Daniel Wilson, and Sunny Nneji have teamed up with 2face Idibia to thrill music lovers on Sunday, July 26. Promising the best of classic African music, the event comes up at This Day Dome in Abuja.

    The event, tagged Eargasm, according to the organisers, will also have pulsating performances from EME songstress, Niyola, Dammy Krane, Queen Moda and Yung 6ix, who will deliver top notch renditions of classic hits from popular music icons like King Sunny Ade, Majek Fashek, Paul Play, Asa, MI, Timi Dakolo and others, as suggested by fans.

    Efe Omorogbe, organiser of the concert says that the idea behind Eargasm is to create a convergence of fans from diverse generations and treat them to an exciting night with a unique blend of classic African music.

    “We want to create an opportunity for lovers of good music to come out and network while enjoying great music from these amazing talents. I am certain that it’s going to be a great show because all these talents will perform not only their songs but also popular classics as demanded by fans,” he said.

    Expressing his excitement at the project, 2face Idibia said, performing on stage with Sir Victor Uwaifo is like a dream come true for me.

    The show is the first Live in Concert involving Africa’s music icon, 2baba and the legendary Sir Victor Uwaifo. It is produced by Yankee Entertainment, Buckwyld Media, and Hypertek Digital production.

    Telecommunication giant, Airtel Nigeria, last Thursday unveiled Hip-hop icon, 2Face Idibia; Rap sensation, Phyno; Dancehall artiste, Patoranking; fast-rising comedian, Akpororo and renowned On-Air-Personality, IK Osakioduwa as brand ambassadors.

    The celebrities were presented to the public at a star-studded event tagged ‘The Icon”. The event held at the prestigious MUSON centre, Onikan, Lagos.

    While addressing the gathering, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, stated that the new Airtel brand ambassadors were selected due to their fine image, sound characters and achievements in their various fields.

    IK Osakioduwa, an accomplished Presenter is a six-time host of the celebrated reality TV show, Big Brother Africa and has been rated among the top three most influential young people in Nigeria. He was also recognised by the Future Awards as the ‘Best On-Air Personality.’

    Patoranking, the reggae dancehall singer won the coveted Next Rated Award at the 2014 Headies, while just recently, he was named the Best African Act at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards.

    Fast-rising comedian, Akpororo, is regarded as someone with very strong work ethic and his passion for comedy has earned him so many accolades. He also sponsors a football competition as a way of supporting talented youths in his community.

    Phyno, is known for rapping in Igbo language, and has also earned several awards including the Headies, for Best Collaboration in 2013 and Best Rap Single in 2014.
