    Victor Uwaifo joins 2face’s label

    Veteran Highlife artiste Sir Victor Uwaifo has joined 2face Idibia’s record label, HyperTek Digital. The signing was announced on November 30 at Club Rumours, Ikeja, Lagos. The Edo State-indigene and university lecturer by his new feat has joined young artistes; Dammy Krane and Rocksteady, who are official artistes under the label.

    Adducing reasons for signing the sculptor cum writer, 2face said: “My manager, Efe Omorogbe and I have been talking about it for quite some time and we just decided to go for it. Sir Victor Uwaifo was really forthcoming and he was down with the idea and here we are today,” he said.

    Femi Kuti, 2Face to headline Music Meets Runway

    AFROBEAT icon, Femi Kuti has been announced as headlining act for this year’s edition of fashion and music show, Music Meets Runway alongside multiple award winning Afro-pop star 2face Idibia. Organisers say that the other eight acts will be announced at a later date.

    The event, which is being put together by Le Reve has, in the past, featured an impressive collection of artistes including D’banj, Naeto C, Davido, Wizkid, Kswitch, Duncan Mighty, Dprince and many others.

    Music Meets Runway, according to the organisers, aims to give attendees a time of their life as they unveiled six designers namely Mai Atafo, Okunoren twins, Ituen Basi, Lisa by Jewel, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi and Deola Sagoe.

    Speaking on the upcoming event and the artistes, Jennifer Olize, CEO of Le Reve event said; “This year’s edition will go beyond expectation because of the iconic touches that will be added to it. As we all know, 2face and Femi Kuti will be performing on that day, and we all know that they are one of the selected few who have proven to all and sundry that talent and right positioning are keys to recording enduring successes in the music business.”

    2face initiates N6m peace awards

    A Nigerian Pop Star, 2face Idibia, is introducing the “2face Peace Awards” to promote peace and support young Nigerians involved in peace projects in their communities.

    Idibia told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that six winners would be selected for the awards.

    According to him, the six categories are Women-led Peace Building, Youth Peace Building, and Peace building in the environment (for those having conflicts over resources).

    Others award categories are Projects on urban violence and community peace building, the use of technology or Social Media for peace building and Mediation directed at reducing violence against women and girls.

    The pop star said that N1million would be presented to each winner, along with opportunities to attend key global peace summits and exchange programmes in 2014.

    Idibia said that almost a quarter of the world lived in areas affected by military or civil conflicts.

    He, however, noted that there were young people who were busy building bridges across communities.

    “These young people are mostly unnoticed but you will find them working hard in various places, educating people and helping to manage conflicts and promoting peace.

    “They have become community leaders in peace building, reconciliation and post -conflict reconstruction, thereby establishing themselves as the next generation of leaders.

    “As we march towards Nigeria’s centenary celebrations in 2014, more than anything else, we choose to celebrate these young unsung heroes, who are active in their communities, promoting peace.

    “We want to celebrate them through the ‘2face Peace Awards’’, ‘’ Idibia told NAN.

    2face Campus Connect ends in Lagos

    AFTER an exciting musical road show in Benin City, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Abuja, the Campus Connect gig train, featuring 2face and his friends came to a wrap in Lagos last weekend.

    The last leg of the show which took place at the Indoor Sports Hall of the University of Lagos took performances to the very height of energy, as displayed by Nigeria’s hip hop super stars, with a huge response by students of the institution.

    Sponsored by Amstel Malt, a Nigerian Breweries plc brand, which had Nigerian’s Afro hip hop singing sensation, Innocent Ujah Idibia headlining the show that featured other talented musicians like Ranson, Money B, Hype M.C, Efa, Young Grace, 2Sec, Rocksteady, Damy Crane, Sheyi Shay, Rough Coil, Vector, Solid Star, Phyno, Sound Sultan and winner of Amstel Malta Show time in 2012, Same.

    The show offered interactive music renditions which drew endless applause and joyful moments from crowd. The mammoth crowd, comprising students from University of Lagos, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State Polytechnic and Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education Lagos defied the heavy downpour to enjoy music performance by Tuface and friends.

    The audience, it could be said received 2face with uncontrollable chants of excitement. Apart from churning out some his iconic music tracks, the artiste also pepped up his performance with energetic performances from chorographers.

    ‘2Face’ to tour schools to inspire students

    A pop star, Innocent Idibia (a.k.a, 2Face), says he will do his best to influence the youth to be resourceful and self-reliant.

    Idibia told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday that he would tour some tertiary institutions to inspire students to develop their talents.

    He noted that education institutions were among the most important sections of any society.

    “It is the schools that produce the leaders of tomorrow; so, social development which are happening outside their walls should be taken to them.

    “The music industry in Nigeria is a very strong opinion shaper in the society; getting closer to students is a very good way of influencing their thoughts and inspiring them”.

    Idibia told NAN that the Nigerian music industry had become a force to reckon with, adding that the country was blessed with numerous talents.

    “We have successfully built a veritable industry that represents the country internationally, and many talents exist in the schools.

    “ I am a product of a school – the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu.

    “That is one of the major reasons IMT is on my tour list.

    “ It is a very emotional choice for me because the school was a very important part of my development.

    “That was where Plantashun Boiz began and I have very fond memories,” Idibia said.

    NAN reports that Idibia is set for a month-long tour of selected tertiary institutions in the country this month.

    The schools include the universities of Lagos, Benin, Port-Harcourt and Abuja.

    Idibia has practised as a solo artiste for almost a decade.

    One of his biggest hits is the “African Queen” which is the soundtrack of a Hollywood movie, “Phat Girls’’

    2Face  Idibia is set to hit the road for the anticipated Campus Connect: 2face & Friends Tour 2013 to be staged for the campus communities in five tertiary institutions across the country. With Amstel Malta as lead sponsor, the tour is to be produced by NM En.Core, in partnership with Hypertek and Soundcity.

    Tubaba, as he is fondly called, is coming at the show with a line-up of artistes with help from Hypertek soldiers Dammy Krane and Rocksteady, Vector, and long-time collaborator Sound Sultan. To be hosted by Andre Blaze, other class acts billed for the tour include Sasha P, Seyi Shey, Timi Dakolo, Phyno, Crystals, Harrisong, Capital F.E.M.I, Solid Star and Jus’ Kiddin’s EFA.

    Fresh off his honeymoon, Africa’s finest, 2face Idibia, expressed his excitement about the upcoming tour. “I’m looking forward to my return to the campus circuit. It’s been a long time. For mainly timing and availability issues I have been unable to play some of these venues in like 8 years or more, so for me, this is a big deal. It’s going to be an emotional return to these campuses. I have received and still enjoy massive support from these spots. They are my personal people,” he states.

    2Face’s Campus Connect to storm 12 more locations

    12 schools have been listed as the potential campuses set to host the forthcoming 2face tour of higher institutions, also known as Campus Connect. The list of schools were released by Hypertek Records recently and the schools were voted for by, presumably, their students on the http://www.2faceonline.com/ platform.

    2face’s return to campuses, which was lauded and met with cheers by attendees of the Playas’ Ball event held in his honour back in December when the announcement was made, will see him performing at 4 of the 12 possible locations. Some of the 12 locations include: University of Lagos (Unilag), University of Benin (Uniben), University of Ibadan (UI), University of Calabar (Unical), University of Ilorin (Unilorin), University of Jos (Unijos), and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).

    The other locations are: University of Abuja (Uniabuja), University of Port Harcourt (Uniport), Lagos State University (LASU), Benue State University (BSU) and Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu.

    Voting for the definite 4 slots continues on http://www.2faceonline.com/ and will close on February 20 by 10pm with a possibility of additional locations included in the final list.     THE biggest celebrity marriage happened two days back between music superstar 2face Idibia and his heartthrob of many years, Annie Macaulay. The two were joined together as man and wife in a traditional wedding ceremony which held on Friday at the Apostolic High School, Esit Urua Community, Eket-Ibeno Road, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, the bride’s hometown.

    The celebrities who thronged the venue were seen clad in aso ebi of crème and red for the ladies while the men wore white and gold wrapper. At the event had the likes of Iyanya, Kate Henshaw, Sound Sultan and other invited guests. The after party is slated to hold in Uyo much later tonight.     DAYS after 2face and Annie Macaulay picked February wedding date, news began to filter in about the proposed marriage of Sunmbo Ajaba, who is one of 2face’s babies’ mamas.

    2face may have broken Sumbo’s heart in February last year when he announced that she has no place in his heart anymore by proposing to Annie.

    The church choir-mistress has now found love again in her church’s General Overseer (GO), Pastor Adeoye. News also has it that the said clergyman was married before but his wife reportedly died about a year ago, which now gives Sunmbo the opportunity to become his next wife.

    Plans for Sunmbo and her new found love to be married are said to be in top gear as preparations are underway for the couple to walk down the aisle later this year.
