Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke yesterday suspended his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Civil Societies, Mr. Emmanuel Adebisi, over alleged diversion of 70 ‘Sallah’ bags of rice meant for constituents.
Governor Adeleke ordered that Adebisi should be suspended with immediate effect.
The governor, through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement, noted that “Governor Adeleke has directed immediate suspension of Adebisi, pending the outcome of investigation by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Kazeem Akinleye.”
However, Adebisi, in a post on his verified Facebook account, denied the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice during Sallah, insisting that he has not been suspended.
The governor through his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed in a statement noted: “Adeleke has directed immediate suspension of the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Emmanuel Adebisi pending outcome of an investigation by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Kazeem Akinleye.”

A statement, by Kehinde Bamigbetan, National Publicity Secretary SJOBA said: “The brainchild of the 1979 to 1984 set, the road is 150 metres length and six metres wide with dual bellmouth at both ends.
With one-sided open drain of 150 metre kerb, the inter-locking is expected to last in view of the use of laterite as aubgrade and application of layers of materials to ensure that plant based waste do not percolate.
The construction, which took 14 weeks, was put to structural test successfully by running a vehicle at 25 metres.per hour.
Commending the set, president of St John’s Grammar School Old Boys Association SJOBA, Dr. Odunayo Osoba said the SJOBA continues to set the standards for other alumni associations to follow
He recalled how other sets have built a new block of toilets, rehabilitated blocks of classrooms, teachers” quarters and the library.
His words: ” The 1979-84 set has raised the bar of giving back to the alma mater with this gigantic project. I believe other sets shall set their eyes on higher goals.”
The governor of Osun State, Senator Demola Adeleke is expected to commission the project.
Yoruba personalities have been honoured for their contributions to national development.
They were given the recognition during the 4th edition of Southwest Advancement Award and Investment Summit, held in Lagos.
The awardees include Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zach Adedeji, Mr. Seyi Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The organisers said the award was designed to appreciate excellence and accountability of an average Yoruba indigene doing well around the world.

Elder Sunday Bisi, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, inaugurated the Governor Ademola Adeleke Cup in Ijebu-Ijesa.
Over twenty-two teams from wards across the Ijesa North Federal Constituency are competing for the trophy.
Governor Adeleke, represented by party chair Sunday Bisi and other officials, performed the ceremonial kick-off to launch the annual Governor’s Cup, sponsored by Abuja-based lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi.
The event was well attended by Fuji maestro, Taye Currency, Nollywood stars, Tayo Amokade and Okele, the Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesa, Oba Moses Olufemi Agunsoye, the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa and chairman of Ijesa North Traditional Rulers, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, Hon. Diran Odeyemi, the chairman of the Governing Council, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, a lawmaker representing Oriade State Constituency, Hon. Kanmi Ajibola, the Osun State Chairman of Internal Revenue, Hon. Sola Adewumi, the PDP state PRO, Hon. Areola, Hon. Niran Atidade SA, and the Osun State Governor, Hon. Tola Faseru, Commissioner for Agriculture, among others.
The Governor’s Cup is expected to feature in 22 wards in Ijesa North Federal Constituency, where several communities are expected to compete in a series of matches in the coming weeks. The winner of the tournament would win a cash prize of two million naira (N2 million), the runner-up would win a cash prize of one million naira (N1 million), and the third position would win a cash prize of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000).
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Elder Sunday Bisi, commended the legal practitioner, Pelumi Olajengbesi, for his visionary initiative towards youth empowerment and community development.
He also described the initiative as a wonderful approach to promoting unity, togetherness, and love among youths.
“The administration of Governor Adeleke has been noted for its focus on youth and sports development, and the tournament aligns perfectly with those priorities,” he added.
He lauded Barrister Olajengbesi’s commitment to community development and expressed hope that the tournament would become a cornerstone of discovering and developing future sports personalities from Osun State.
The sponsor of the football tournament, Pelumi Olajengbesi, while addressing journalists, stated that the initiative is aimed at creating an avenue for young people to display their God-giving sports talents.
He further stated that through the tournament, youths can be inspired to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
Olajengbesi, who disclosed that there is more to be done in making football a major thing in the state, added that the organization of the tournament is one of the major steps taken in repositioning football in the state.
The Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesa, Oba Moses Olufemi Agunsoye, and the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe, in their separate remarks, described the importance of community-driven projects like the Governor Ademola Adeleke Cup in promoting peace and development.
Both royal fathers, while commending the sponsor, Pelumi Olajengbesi, for uniting the youths of the federal constituency with the football tournament, agreed that sports have a unique ability to bring people together, transcending social and economic barriers.
Following the presentation of the Staff of Office to Prince Kazali Olagunju as the new Akosin of Ekosin, five ruling houses have kicked against Governor Ademola Adeleke over the appointment.
The ruling houses of Ekosin in Odo-Otin Local Government Area hinged their opposition to the appointment of Olagunju on the basis that he is not a member of any of the ruling houses in Ekosin.
Addressing newsmen in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State on Saturday, Prince Kayode Asa from Nyanbilolu Ruling House speaking on behalf of other ruling houses whose representatives and head were present, tasked the government not to regard Olagunju as a king of the town, until the determination of a case at the Court.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the reckless abuse of office, power and the sheer disobedience to the rule of law, perpetrated by some political officers in the administration of the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, over the filling of the vacant stool of Akosin of Ekosin.
“The appointment of Olagunju violates trust and confidence in public office holders, we were told that the court case would be allowed to run through before a monarch was announced.”
Reacting to the ruling houses, Prince Kasali through his counsel, Barrister Yemi Abiona, said the king was selected by his ruling house and his name was sent to the kingmakers who elected him under the previous government, adding that the family of Nyanbilolu was the one that approached the court on the matter.
“When this new administration came on board, the committee set up to investigate chieftaincy issues cleared Oba Olagunju. The first suit that was instituted by Nyanbilolu came after the selection process had been completed and the governor, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Attorney General were not joined in the matter.”
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke yesterday disbursed N700 million cooperatives fund to residents of Ife and Obokun/Oriade federal constituency to boost local economy and alleviate hardship among them.The Federation of Osun State Cooperatives and the 332 ward-based cooperatives are beneficiaries of the disbursement.
A statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed said the funds are to being disbursed to the local cooperatives to support grassroots businesses and ensure financial inclusion for the vulnerable.
It reads: “We are here in pursuance of financial inclusion for artisans and local businesses. Our administration is determined to financially empower our grassroots traders.
Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke has playfully urged his daughter Nike to find a spouse and get married soon.
During a Q&A session on her Instagram page, Nike asked her father how he felt about her being single at 28, a question that prompted a humorous and heartfelt response from the governor.
“I am now 28 and I am about to be 29. How do you feel about me not being married yet?” she asked her dad.
The Governor, who got married at 27 and had Nike’s brother, Adesina soon after, reminded his daughter that she is not getting younger and encouraged her to start thinking about settling down.
The Governor gave her “one more year” to tie the knot, adding that she was not getting younger.
“Better start getting ready to get married. That is the next thing. You think you are young? I am expecting all those toasters, better bring one so you can come and tell me dad this is the one I am going to marry,” he said.
“Do you know that at the age of 27, 28 I got married and I had your brother Adesina? You are now 28, I am giving you one more year.”
Adeleke’s lighthearted remarks were met with laughter and appreciation from Nike, who seemed to enjoy the playful exchange with her father.
As the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) commenced online registration of its members across Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has warned against ‘ghost membership’.
Adeleke during the PDP stakeholders meeting held at the party secretariat in Osogbo, expressed confidence in the unity of disgruntled members within the party left for All Progressives Congress.
“A lot has happened in government and our Party, PDP. We are all aware of recent developments. The one or two leaders who left failed to even take their wives with them. I salute the faithfulness of party leaders and members to remain steadfast. PDP is the home of true friends of the people. We are the real Progressives with massive delivery of good governance to the people, ”Adeleke said.
He commended Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Oluwole Alabi, Fatai Akinbade, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, and several other party leaders who have reunited with the mainstream of the party.
“There is no “Anigba” again. From ward to state level, we must embrace each other and forge ahead to build a united victorious party ahead of 2026.
“To that end, we must urgently update our register in line with the directive from the national headquarters. The registration exercise must be thorough and real. We should not act like another party that falsified their party membership register. We must ensure real men and women rather than ghosts are registered as party members. PDP is not a party of ghost members and workers.”
The Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has paid N12.7billion as bonds for retirees within 18 months of his administration to surpass the total amount of N11b paid in 12 years by All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adeleke, while presenting N4billion bond certificate to retirees at the Local Government Service Commission hall, Abere on Friday, June 7, made the disclosure.
He stated: “For my administration, the amount of bonds released from December 2022 to date across State and LGAs is N12, 719,245,528,00 including the N4,009,358,431.00 I am presenting today.
“This record, I have surpassed surpassed the entire records of 12 years of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in pension payment the entire N12years of APC government.”
Adeleke added: “The administration of my two predecessors for 12 years paid N11,155,651,780.56 for gratuities at the State level. At the local level, the two previous governments paid N6,488,876,324.58.”
The governor said the method he employed was to approve the recommendation of the Head of Service to improve on the monthly releases for gratuities and bonds.
The Head of Service, Samuel Aina lauded Adeleke for the commitment of his administration to workers and retirees.
