Landlord evict tenants for supporting APC

A landlord identified as Mr. David Agberemole has rendered at least 5 tenants in his house in Uzea Community in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State homeless for supporting the All Progressives Congress, APC against the People’s Democratic Party PDP.

The tenants, Mr Sylvester Chukwuemeka, Okosun Christiana and Ogbeide Elizabeth who lamented their ordeal said they have suffered untold hardship from their landlord for not supporting the PDP which the landlord was sympathetic to.

One of the tenants, Okosun Christiana who spoke in her native dialect (Esan) said, “We don’t have any problem, just party differences, he told us he wanted everyone in the house to support PDP, because he is a member of the party, but i refused.

“I told him that i have been in APC for a very long time that even if the PDP is buying me a car I prefer to remain in the APC, and he said since that is my stand; I should consider myself evicted from his house”. She explained.

Also speaking, another of the evicted tenants Sylvester Chukwuemeka revealed that his rents were up to date, adding that the action of their landlord negates the principle of fair play and justice just because they refused to support the PDP.

“I don’t understand why the landlord will just decide to drive us out of his house because we are not supporting PDP. I pay my rent regularly and this is not fair to me.

“The state government should come to our aid because I don’t know when it became a crime to support a party.”

Chukwuemeka called on relevant authority to come to their aid just as the Acting Executive Chairman of Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Barr. Emmanuel Usoh has given the evicted tenants some bags of cement and money to build their own houses.

Efforts to get comments from the said landlord proved abortive, as family members at his residence said he traveled, but however confirmed that the evicted persons were previous tenants in the house.

  • Why Boroffice should be APC candidate

Why Boroffice should be APC candidate

A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Mr. Olaoluwa Adeyeye has the party to support the gubernatorial aspiration Senator Ajayi Boroffice in order to win the November election.

Speaking  with The Nation, the Akure-born lawyer said he decided to throw his weight behind Borofice because the  aspirant is capable of winning the primary as well as the November  elections  in Ondo.

He said Borofice antecedence as an established democrat and a renowned progressive place him a shoulder above the others.

“Beyond 2015 elections, he worked valiantly, my people confirmed it that the role he played in the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in Ondo state was very crucial. And that is the kind of leadership the APC needs in Ondo state at this time, hence our decision to follow Prof. Boroffice.”

On what he hopes to do to ensure victory for his candidate, he said he would deploy his support base entirely to the electioneering process.

“At the moment, we’re going to work with delegates as we go to the primaries. They are delegates that we’ve been in touch and have been working with for the better part of the last one year and we’ve made our stand known to them that myself, Olaoluwa Adeyeye has stepped them from this race not to remain neutral but to actually support 110 per cent Prof. Boroffice. That is the message we’ve passed across every senatorial districts where we’ve supporters.”

He added: ” I have a following of my base which is Akure, which is the largest voting bloc that you have in Ondo state. I have the support of quite a number of constituents including religious and otherwise and I’m going to deploy for my candidate all of that support base to ensure victory at the general elections after these primaries.”

While dispelling rumours of about an anointed candidate, Adeyeye said: “The official communication from the leaders of our party is that there would be free and fair elections.”

As to whether he would turncoat if his candidate fails to carry the day, the UK-trained lawyer said, he would remain loyal to the party. “If Prof Boroffice does not win the primaries, which is very unlikely, I have said and I will confirm again that I will remain in a loyal member of the APC, if the delegates vote and another candidate carries the day , I will deploy my resources , my network and my support base for hat winner. The ultimate aim for us as a party I to remain focused. We need to retrieve Ondo state from the claws of poverty, backwardness. We need to open up Ondo state for growth, and international development.”

He also appealed to APC delegates to vote wisely at the primaries and shun money politics, stressing that it will be counter-productive for the APC and the good people of Ondo State in general in the long run.

  • Ondo guber race: Why Boroffice will beat other APC aspirants

On Saturday, about 3,000 delegates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State will gather in Akure to elect the party’s flagbearer for the November 27 governorship election. Senator Ajayi Boroffice, widely viewed by political pundits as a major force in the politics of Ondo State, will beat other aspirants of the party to emerge governorship candidate due to fecund and obvious reasons, provided the primary election is credible and transparent.

In addition to his electoral value as the only aspirant who has won elections in succession, the reality in Ondo State today is that the man Boroffice is much as popular in the south and central senatorial districts as he is in the north senatorial district that he has meedfully represented in the last 5 years.

Aside facts that Boroffice enjoys the confidence of the party leadership and possesses intimidating academic credentials, he has shown the untiring capacity to maintain the loyalty of vast majority of APC members and delegates in Ondo State. That is chiefly responsible for why many delegates and party members alike regard Boroffice as the father of progressives in Ondo State. The delegates are quick to remember that until Boroffice joined the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in 2012, the party had no single elected political office holder in Ondo State. No single councilor, no single local government chairman, no single representative in the State Assembly and no representative in the Federal Legislature. He nurtured the growth of the progressive party in Ondo State with his resources and sweat. That foresightedness and investment greatly shaped the Ondo State chapter of the party that has become a darling to politicians with both reasonable and inordinate ambitions.

With his interventionist ideology that is welfarist in approach, Boroffice is the only aspirant that has built 3 Classroom blocks with VIP toilet facilities in over 10 locations and constructed Skill Acquisition Centres in 5 communities. He established Garri Processing Industries in about 5 locations and developed Cashew Processing Industry. There is an Incubation Centre to his credit. He erected a fully-equiped Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the benefits of the people. He established Biofuel Ethanol Plant and Emergency Obstetric Centre. He facilitated the installations of solar-powered street light on over 35 roads. He facilitated the drilling of solar-powered boreholes in over 25 communities.
12 communities enjoy hand pump boreholes to his credit. He installed 500 KVA Transformer in 10 communities. He has empowered over 100 persons through micro credit scheme. He has facilitated the employment of over 50 youths in the public and private sectors. Boroffice has shaped over 80 lives with skill-related empowerment. He has facilitated the distribution of relief materials ranging from bundles of roofing sheets, bags of cements, bags of rice, mosquito nets, mattresses,  planks to over 120 persons. Like he distributed dozens of cars and scores of tricycles to the people, he has also donated hundreds of power generating sets, grinding machines and sewing machines to small business owners.

I dare say that in the history of Ondo State,  no senator,  either dead or alive,  has made as much life-changing impacts as Boroffice.

Beyond the capacity of other aspirants, Boroffice has taken his governorship campaign, without noise, to the houses of party delegates across the 203 wards in Ondo State.  He has completely local government to local government consultative tour. He has held ward to ward meetings with delegates. He has visited and engaged delegates in their homes and in some cases, we had to park our vehicles and journey on foot through bushy paths for about 5 minutes before accessing the homes of delegates.

In some instances, the out pour of love towards Boroffice and his entourage could hardly be captured by words as some delegates would insist we get overfed before we depart their homes. The good news is that majority of party delegates have assured Boroffice of their support anytime, any day, under sun and in the rain.

Without mincing words, the man Boroffice is best positioned to lead the onslaught against PDP in Ondo State. It should surprise no one if the party delegates return him elected as governorship candidate on Saturday with landslide applause.

  • EDO 2016: Buhari will not rig election for APC

EDO 2016: Buhari will not rig election for APC

All Progressives Congress ,  Edo State chapter has assured the people of the state that President Mohammadu Buhari does not believe in electoral fraud and will therefore not help anyone to rig election no matter his stake in the contest .

Comrade Godwin Erhahon , State Publicity Secretary said Leaders of All Progressives Congress in Edo State should therefore humble themselves and work hard sincerely if they truly hope to win September 10, 2016 governorship election.

The State Publicity Secretary of the Party  gave the assurance in reaction to an appeal made to President Buhari by PDP leadership at a rally in Auchi that the President should allow level playing field for all parties.

Comrade Erhahon therefore advised the gold-diggers in APC who are refusing to make peace with those they maliciously and viciously offended during the intrigues that proceeded the June 18, primaries, hoping ignorantly that incumbency factor at federal level would sail them through.

“As one who has been with President Buhari since the beginning of his political struggle in 2003, I can vouch for him that his anti-corruption fight is not hypocritical.

“He will never encourage electoral fraud nor push EFCC against anyone.

Even as a popular but poor Presidential candidate of CPC in 2011, President Buhari rejected donations from some of his well-wishers whose source of income he didn’t trust.

“Likewise, let no one think that the outcome of the forthcoming election will make or mar Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as National Chairman as it is now known to all that he is completely sidelined  and snubbed in the entire  process.

“There are signs already that the Binis who are his home community with about fithy-three percent of voters in the State may not allow him take part in the campaign for those who derive pressures in pulling down Benin leaders.

“The only solution is for President Buhari himself to intercede and pacify the people of the great Benin Kingdom before it is too late. The President should not expect mad men to heal themselves. “

Buhari wades into Edo APC crisis

There were indications Thursday that President Muhammadu Buhari may have directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir David Lawal to interface with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Edo state with a view to resolving the crisis in the party.

Sources close to the party told journalists that the President has asked the SGF to meet with all the aspirants in the last governorship primaries and other stakeholders within 24 hours.

The Edo State APC governorship primaries which was held on June 18 and won by Mr. Godwin Obaseki is being challenged by two of the aspirants who alleged irregularities in the conduct of the primary.

In his petitions to the Appeals Committee, Ogiemwonyi alleged over voting at the primaries, while Imansuagbon claimed that the primary was rigged electronically.

It was gathered that the two aggrieved aspirants have threatened to drag the party to court if they fail to nullify the primary.

The source said, “The two aggrieved aspirants are waiting the recommendation of the Committee, threatening to go to court and work against the party in the event of any last minutes endorsement”.

Chairman of the Primary Committee and  governor of Katsina, Aminu Bello Masari who was invited to appear before the committee was said to have been represented by a Director at the National Secretariat of the party.

Chairman of the Appeal Committee, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele stated that the committee was compiling its recommendations, adding that all the stakeholders invited met with the Committee members and made oral presentations of the primaries.
