Floyd Mayweather is preparing for one of the biggest boxing matches ever and has met up with one of the biggest people in boxing – physically – ahead of that fight.

Mayweather will face Conor McGregor in the ring on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena and the American has just completed a world tour to build hype for the highly anticipated encounter.

The veteran met up with another star outside of the squared circle on Sunday night as he posed for a snap with world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who is visiting the United States.

The two sat next to each other as they were surrounded by members of Joshua’s entourage.

And Joshua captioned up the image: ‘Strength In Numbers’.

Joshua is likely to want to attend the extravaganza in Las Vegas next month and is almost certain to be handed a ticket.

But fans of the sport and the two fighters wanting to purchase a ticket will have to move swiftly on Monday evening.

Tickets for the event go on sale at 6pm in the UK, with the cheapest option for a seat in the arena clocking in at an expensive $500 (£385).

That is cheap compared to the cost of a front-row seat for the event, which will cost a staggering $10,000 (£7,706).

  • Anthony Joshua is a ginger for us -Buatsi

Anthony Joshua is a ginger for us -Buatsi

Joshua Buatsi is very much his own man and his own fighter.

But as he prepares to make his professional debut against Carlos Mena at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, the comparisons with his compatriot Anthony Joshua are hard to ignore.

Both are softly-spoken but hard-hitting. Both came through Britain’s famed amateur system and turned professional on the back of Olympic success. And both can win a world title within 16 fights, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

As the likes of Audley Harrison have shown, however, being dubbed the next incarnation of an elite predecessor can be an albatross around a fighter’s neck, the pre-cursor to inevitable anti-climax.

But Buatsi, an Olympic light heavyweight bronze medallist with a big reputation, is making no attempt to escape Joshua’s shadow. The pair have been training together and the 24-year-old Buatsi is being managed by the heavyweight king’s ‘AJ Boxing’ in the paid ranks.

‘He has brought hope and he has set a path and a standard to show to all of us, you know what, it can be achieved. It is possible,’ he tells Sportsmail ahead of his professional bow on a packed night of British boxing.

‘It’s really good to be working with Josh. He’s been through the Olympic programme and as a professional he has got everything right.

‘So having the same team that manage him do it with me is a good move. They have had experiences that they can guide me with.’

Buatsi has taken longer than most of his Rio 2016 counterparts to join the professional ranks, taking time to complete university before following the likes of Josh Kelly and Lawrence Okolie into the Matchroom stable.

But if he wants to emulate his mentor, he can ill-afford to waste any more time. Within four years and 19 fights of winning Olympic gold at London 2012, Joshua had become the unified heavyweight champion of the world and cemented his place at the top of the sport with a stunning eleventh-round stoppage of Wladimir Klitschko.

For now though, ‘eight fights, eight wins, hopefully eight KOs’ is Buatsi’s target for his first year in the professional game. Then, he hopes, the belts will soon follow.

Like his mentor, however, Buatsi isn’t interested in making predictions or promises. Following his explosive Olympic performances, and months of hype surrounding his move to the paid ranks, the London fighter is finally ready to let his fists do the talking.

‘The talk is easy man, there has been a lot of talking but it’s time to fight,’ he says.

‘Any fighter can talk, it’s about going in there, performing and winning,’ he adds.

  • Fury win over Klitschko too boring – Anthony Joshua

Fury win over Klitschko too boring – Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury’s win over Wladimir Klitschko was ‘boring’ says Anthony Joshua, in another verbal barb at his heavyweight rival.

Fury defeated Klitschko on points in November 2015 to claim the world titles, but was forced to give them up due to an anti-doping investigation and medical issues.

Joshua then beat the Ukrainian in April with an 11th-round stoppage having got back up off the canvas, and though Fury criticised Joshua’s performance, the Watford-born fighter has hit back.

Joshua told Sky Sports: ‘He didn’t throw a punch. He didn’t come to fight. He just walked around the ring for like 12 rounds, it’s boring. It’s not winning, it’s how you win.

‘His stock didn’t rise. Your stock has got to rise and he could have had the better win, but when people look at it, many years after, ask them whose fight they will remember.’

Fury, who has not fought since that win over Klitschko, has challenged Joshua to a bout, calling him a ‘pumped-up weightlifter’.

Joshua has agreed the fight should happen, as ‘the public want to see’ them clash, but only once Fury regains full fitness.

The former Olympic gold medallist is also set for a possible rematch of his brilliant clash with Klitschko, mooted for later in 2017.

  • Anthony Joshua: I am ready for Fury clash any time!

Anthony Joshua: I am ready for Fury clash any time!

Anthony Joshua has reiterated his desire to fight Tyson Fury in a British heavyweight clash, saying it is ‘what people want’.

Joshua called out Fury in the ring after beating Wladimir Klitschko to become WBA, IBO and IBF world heavyweight champion.

He still has Fury at the top of his list of opponents, and says he is ready for the former champion whenever he is ready.

Joshua told Sky Sports News when asked who he would like to fight next: ‘In the UK, Tyson Fury. It’s big, it’s interesting, it makes a lot of sense.

‘I listen to what people want and I listen to what fighters want. Tyson is making a lot of noise, making it clear he would like to fight me.

‘I’ve been patient, after he beat Klitschko hopefully I would have been in line to fight Fury, but he had his own issues so I stayed on my own path.

‘Now I’m in a position where I can say, Tyson, when you are back and ready, it is a fight people want to see, so let’s try and make something work and live up to what people want to see.’

Joshua also said he wants to fight Fury because of the prestige it would bring to British boxing to have two world leading heavyweights from the same country fighting it out in the United Kingdom.

First however he wants a rematch with Klitschko, who he knocked down in the 11th round of a brilliant fight at Wembley in April.

He said: ‘In the first fight there wasn’t much trash talking, the press conferences were big, the preparations were big, and the fight lived up to expectations.

‘If we could do another fight like that, minus the sixth round (when Klitschko knocked Joshua to the canvas), I would love that and it would be entertaining for everybody’.

  • Joshua vs Klitschko rematch: Fans to pay N350,000

Joshua vs Klitschko rematch: Fans to pay N350,000

Can you pay N350,000 to watch Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko rematch in Lagos?

That was the question posed to a cross section of sports fans following reports that organisers of the boxing bout are considering  Lagos as one of the probable venues of the fight with the other three venues  being America, Dubai and Cardiff.

Organisers have put the ticket at $1,000 (About N350,000 by current exchange rate in Nigeria).

Those who responded to the query said it is unthinkable to commit such amount to watch the clash when there are other teething issues begging for attention in the family.

Some others claim that such amount is adequate for them to start their own small scale business considering the high level of unemployment, while some who already own business say the amount would no doubt re-jig their business.

A respondent who claims to be an unemployed graduate said unemployment is so high in Nigeria because people can’t get reasonable loan to establish themselves.”

“If I have such money I will create job for myself and stop the ritual of submitting resume where they end up being used to wrap groundnut and akara,” he said.

There are however those who described the report of a rematch in Lagos as a typical April fool, insisting that such a fight cannot hold in Lagos as the amenities are not there.

“Where is the fight going to hold in Lagos, National Stadium that is in a state of decay? Is it Teslim Balogun that is small and has been reserved exclusively for the FA cup that holds once a year? It can hold in Dubai or Cardiff but definitely not in Lagos,” they submitted.

This school of thought however played down the ticket issue adding “But assuming it is to hold in Lagos there are some super rich Nigerians who will pay. You will even be surprised to see some paying N2million for a table of four. Some do that for comedy and musical shows why not?”

Nigeria born British boxer Anthony Joshua had in the first fight in April knocked out the Ukrainian in front of 90,000 supporters at Wembley Stadium. Report has it that as proposal for rematch is being considered die-hard boxing fans are already challenging themselves to bet, with some insisting that Joshua will win the rematch against irrespective of where it is staged, describing the Shagamu born pugilist as a dynamite whose time has come.

  • Anthony Joshua may face Klitschko in Lagos

Anthony Joshua may face Klitschko in Lagos

Nigerian-born British Heavyweight champion Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua looks set to fight Wladimir Klitschko later this year later with
Lagos among the four cities poised to host the eagerly anticipated rematch.
Promoter Eddie Hearn, who manages Joshua said his team has received offers from all over the world to stage the fight and as things
stand there are four main options.
“We are looking at America, Nigeria, Dubai or Cardiff,” he revealed.
“Lagos sounds great but operationally it’s very difficult.”
“It’s a new market for us but as a promoter, you have to look at money, is it there? Is it secure? he added.
“The money we’re getting offered from other sites is huge, but that comes with problems.”
Joshua unified the WBA and IBF heavyweight titles in April when he rose from the first knockdown of his professional career to stop
Klitschko in the 11th round in front of 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium.
Joshua, whose father hails from Sagamu is due to fight his IBF mandatory challenger, Kubrat Pulev but has applied for an exemption in
order to pave the way for a Klitschko rematch. All involved are currently waiting on the IBF’s decision, which is expected this week.

Joshua back to work as Klitschko rematch talks gathers pace

Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is showing no sign of resting on his laurels as he was seen back in the gym on Monday morning.

The British boxer shared a video of himself working on his footwork with his trainer with the caption ‘stay hungry.’

Joshua has been making the most of his success after triumphing over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley last month but now looks ready to get back to work.

And the 27-year-old has his sights set on a rematch with the Ukrainian after the thrilling nature of their first bout.

‘We want to fight Klitschko next and the noise from the their camp is that is going to happen, and it will be discussed over the next few weeks,’ promoter Eddie Hearn revealed.

However, taking that fight next might mean Joshua has to give up one of his two world titles.

He might have to relinquish the IBF title he won against Charles Martin if the boxing authorities rule he has to take on his mandatory challenger Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev next but Hearn is lobbying for a special exemption.

‘It is the IBF convention this week and we have put in a special exemption request to fight Klitschko next as we will with the WBC but that is a little bit more clear.

‘We will be allowed a special acceptation request with the WBC but whether we will be allowed one with the IBF, who knows.

‘If Anthony doesn’t fight Klitschko he will fight Pulev who isn’t going to go away. Pulev’s people have objected to the special exemption request.’

  • Anthony Joshua returns to mother’s two bedroom flat

Anthony Joshua returns to mother’s two bedroom flat

Heavy Weight champion Anthony Joshua has moved back into his mother’s two-bed ex-council flat despite earning an estimated £15million from defeating Wladimir Klitschko.

The 27-year-old boxer was living in a grand palladian villa in affluent St John’s Wood, rented as a haven so he could focus on the biggest fight of his life.

After defeating Ukrainian Klitschko on an extraordinary night at Wembley last month experts said that Mr Joshua could soon be the world’s first billionaire boxer.

But despite the riches on offer the star is back living with his mother Yeta Odusanya, 51, and his baby son after several gruelling months away from home.

The father-of-one bought her the former council flat in North London for £174,000 after turning professional in 2013, and was pictured moving back in Thursday.

During a round of press interviews after beating Klitschko, Joshua smiled fondly as he spoke of the moment his care worker mother – who he banned from watching the fight ringside – told him she was proud of his incredible triumph in front of 90,000 spectators at Wembley.

For the past decade, he has been in an on/off relationship with the mother of his child, former school friend Nicole Osbourne, who he bought a £500,000 flat not far from his home.

Though the 6ft 6in and 17 stone star is currently single, there is however one woman that will come before any others – his mother.

He has previously credited the close-relationship with Mrs Odusanya as being key to his rapid rise from amateur to becoming a boxing superstar – having now claimed the WBA, IBF, and IBO heavyweight titles.

But he is so fiercely protective that since winning Olympic gold at London 2012 he has not let her watch his fights, be it live or even on TV.

Mrs Odusanya was asked if she was proud of him last month and she simply gave double thumbs up and a big grin before climbing into the £80,000 white Range Rover he had bought her.

Joshua had said revealed that all he wanted to do following the fight was to go back to ‘normal living’ by having a lie-in and catching up with family members.
