Anthony Joshua, unexpectedly, checked for doping

World champion in the heavyweight versions of IBF/IBO/WBA Anthony Joshua posted a video, as it was raided by anti-doping Agency.

The Nigerian-born Briton posted a video of their visit on his page in Instagram early in the morning of 11 May, however, at the moment the video is no more on his account anymore.

In the frame, you notice an elderly man, Joshua read out a list of questions. Two of the questions asked was: “has the athlete the simulation of high-altitude conditions (in the chamber) in the last two weeks?” and “did the athlete blood in the last three months?”. To both Joshua replied in the negative.

We will remind, on April 29 Anthony Joshua knocked out Wladimir Klitschko. After the battle, Joshua gave a Boxing glove made of diamond.

How Anthony Joshua, coaches celebrated victory over Klitschko

Basking in the euphoria of his recent victory over Wladimir Klitschko, Anthony Joshua deemed it fit to hangout and enjoy a meal with the team that propelled him to boxing super-stardom.

Joshua added the vacant WBA ‘super’ heavyweight title to his IBF strap when he climbed off the canvas to stop the Ukrainian in the 11th round of the Wembley scrap.

And as he continues to plot his next move, Joshua spent a night out at the Smith and Wollensky restaurant in London with the friends, promoters and trainers who helped him overcome Klitschko.

(L-R) Standing: Mark Ellison (nutritionist), Ben Ileyemi (cousin), Michael Jarman (agent), David Ghansa (friend), Freddie Cunningham (manager), Frank Smith (Matchroom boxing), Sina Ghami (Physio), Jonathan Constant, James Mulley, Kevin Ayodele (friends). Hearn joked that Joshua didn't 'have his back' when he was booed at Wembley Stadium

Joshua and his entourage enjoyed a night out at the Smith and Wollensky restaurant in London

Friends Jonathan Constant, James Mulley, Kevin Ayodele and Leon Skinner also enjoyed the night out alongside Matchroom’s head of boxing Frank Smith and Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn. His head trainer Rob McCracken was not pictured, however.

Hearn has guided Joshua since the Watford-born fighter turned professional. But the 37-year-old was booed by the Wembley crowd when interviewed after the fight. And he jokingly slammed the world heavyweight champion for failing to ‘have his back’.

Joshua beat Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium with an 11th-round knockout last month

Tyson Fury has claimed that Hearn has booked Wembley for a heavyweight fight with Joshua

‘Ninety-thousand people were booing me, it would have been nice for the man I shared a journey with to step up to the mic and have my back. But it’s okay,’ Hearn joked.

Joshua called out Tyson Fury in the wake of his victory over Klitschko, with the possibility of an all-British super-fight at Wembley gathering pace.

Fury has not fought since he dethroned Klitschko in Dusseldorf in November 2015. In the 18 months he has spent out of the ring, the former world champion has blown up to over 25st.

He is hoping to return to competitive action in July. But he had a UK Anti-Doping hearing on Monday and remains without a boxing licence.

  • Fury: I would run rings around Joshua

Fury: I would run rings around Joshua

Tyson Fury claims Anthony Joshua will present him with his “easiest fight” after saying Eddie Hearn had already booked Wembley Stadium for such a bout.

The 28-year-old is targeting a comeback fight on July 8, provided he overturns a suspended drugs ban at a UK Anti-Doping [UKAD] hearing which opened on Monday.

Anthony Joshua’s thrilling 11th-round win over Wladimir Klitschko has boosted the profile of boxing in the UK and two British world champions hope to benefit from it this month.

Fury has not fought since beating Wladimir Klitschko for the world heavyweight titles in November 2015, due to a combination of drug issues and mental health concerns.

But in the wake of Joshua’s stunning 11th-round knockout win over Klitschko at Wembley last month, Fury has returned to training and is intent on securing an all-British super-fight with the new champion. He revealed that Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has pencilled in a fight in April 2018.

Fury told the Daily Telegraph: “Eddie Hearn has already booked Wembley Stadium for next April.

“There isn’t another stadium where it should take place. I would fight Joshua in October, but I believe Klitschko will take the rematch.”

Fury added to the BBC that he would “box rings” around Joshua.

“I always said Wladimir would be my easiest fight, now I’m changing the goal posts,” he said. “AJ will be my easiest fight.

“I always knew what he was. I’ll tell you what he is. He’s a big man with a puncher’s chance. That’s it. He’s got no footwork, no speed and no stamina neither. I will box rings round him.”

Fury is now keen to focus on the future, but was deeply affected by suggestions he is a drug cheat and denies ever taking any performance-enhancing substance.

He vacated the WBA and WBO titles he held in October after admitting using cocaine to cope with depression, after which the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) suspended his boxing licence.

That development came after an ankle injury had forced the postponement of his proposed rematch with Klitschko, and after Fury and his younger cousin Hughie were charged by UKAD with “presence of a prohibited substance”.

It is understood the Fury camp are confident about the outcome for both Tyson and Hughie.

The heavyweight division now boasts four unbeaten champions with Fury, Joshua, New Zealand’s Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder.

Anthony Joshua buys  Muhammad Ali memorabilia

Anthony Joshua’s victory over Wladimir Klitschko may have catapulted him to heavyweight stardom, but the British boxer still takes inspiration from the greatest names ever to take to the ring.

Joshua’s 11th-round knockout of the Ukrainian has ensured he is one of the most recognisable sporting names on the planet, but he still has some way to go to reach the stature of the late Muhammad Ali.

The Brit has paid homage to the boxing icon by purchasing a signed glove, with the framed piece of memorabilia coming complete with a built-in television screen which will allow Joshua to watch back some of Ali’s classic moments.

The frame is topped with the words ‘Muhammad Ali, The Greatest – 1942-2016’ and also includes images of some of the legendary fighter’s most memorable moments in the sport.

Joshua revealed his purchase on his Instagram story, where he also showed off a video of the frame ‘in action’ as the glove was lit up from the back and included video highlights of Ali in action as well as interviews.

While the victory over Klitschko has seen Joshua compared to some of the greatest names in boxing, the man himself does not believe he will ever be remembered on the same level as Ali.

‘Can I ever see a time that it will be Ali, Foreman, Holmes, Joshua? Nah,’ said Joshua.

‘There are too many opinions now. They didn’t give Klitschko the respect he deserves, you know what I mean. I just try and keep some distance from it and stay in my own lane.

‘As long as I’m happy, that’s what matters. I’m not perfect but what I do, I do good. I’ll keep improving on it and if that’s good enough to get me through in boxing, then I’ll be satisfied. I know I can get better.’

As part of his Instagram story, Joshua also showed off his wide selection of caps as well as him working in the gym.

Anthony Joshua tucks into huge meal after victory

Anthony Joshua has wasted no time piling the calories back into his system following his historic victory over Wladimir Klitsckho, by chowing down on a huge table full of food while declaring: ‘I’m hungry.’

The heavyweight star took part in one of the blockbuster fights of the century by defeating his Ukrainian counterpart in front of a record capacity crowd at Wembley.

Uploading a picture via his personal Twitter account, Joshua showed his 1.09million followers a vast table packed with an assortment of food

With a smiling Joshua sitting happily at the head of the table, bowls of different meats in sauces could be seen, along with a hearty portion of fresh pasta.

The champ has undoubtedly earned the carb overload following his Wembley heroics, and captioned the picture in a playful manner.

‘No table etiquette I’m hungry,’ wrote Joshua, who also recently admitted he will continue with the hard work despite the fight having come and gone.

In beating legend of the sport Klitschko, Joshua both retained his IBF heavyweight title and secured the vacant WBA belt as a result.

No sooner had Joshua left the ring talk regarding his next fight had already fired up, with fellow boxer Tyson Fury doing his utmost to fan the flames.

Fury shocked the world of boxing when he defeated Klitschko in November 2015, but has not stepped back into the ring since.

Speaking recently to Sky Sports Fury boasted he could be the man to inflict upon Joshua his first professional defeat.

‘I don’t even need a warm-up if he wants this, I have been out of the ring as long as Klitschko but the difference is, I am not 41, I am 28,’ said Fury.

‘AJ did really well to come back but I am not 41 or getting old. He is just a pumped-up weightlifter but [Klitschko] couldn’t land one of those of those hooks on me, at all.

‘But let’s face it, I am the man, the number one in the division.

‘There can only ever be one heavyweight, especially in our part of the world, and it’s me. It definitely isn’t a pumped-up heavyweight, I can tell you that,’ he added

  • We will Invite Anthony Joshua to Nigeria Soon says FG

We will Invite Anthony Joshua to Nigeria Soon says FG

The federal government of Nigeria is not ruling out the possibility of inviting the newest heavyweight world champion, Anthony Olaseni Joshua to the country any time soon.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed had hinted about extending an invitation to the British boxer.

Recall that at the weekend, Joshua, who is of Nigerian descent, defeated Wladimir Klitschko, a far more experienced boxer, to emerge heavyweight champion.

In a statement issued by Segun Adeyemi, media aide of the minister, on Tuesday, Mohammed congratulated the pugilist on his feat.

He said the government would invite him to the country since he had indicated he would like to give something back to Nigeria.

The minister said Nigeria was proud to be associated with the new unified world champion, whose Nigerian heritage he has publicly acknowledged

“My heart is in Nigeria, My heart is in Britain. I am a Nigerian man by blood, yes,” he quoted Joshua as saying in a recent interview, during which the boxer also said the secret of his success was eating pounded yam, eba and egusi.

He hailed Joshua for his humility, despite his success in boxing, and his undying spirit, coming off the canvas after he was knocked down by Klitschko in the sixth round to win by a technical knockout in the 11th round of their pulsating fight

“Alhaji Mohammed said the government will soon invite the new world heavyweight champion to Nigeria, especially as he has said he is looking forward to giving something back to the country‎,” the statement read.

Anthony Joshua’s Interesting Story after Bout with Klitschko

Some of the interesting stories that have been shared in the two days about Anthony Joshua were revealing just as this about his son,,, Yes his son.

Shortly after beating Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday the Nigerian born British boxe, Joshua revealed a face-timed with his 18-month old son

The boxer’s 18-month old son Joseph was being babysat at home by Joshua’s mother Yeta Odusanya as the Wembley fight unfolded.

But after beating the Ukrainian Joshua wasted no time in speaking with Joseph calling his son in the Wembley dressing room – who however took back by his father’s new black eye

Anthony Joshua was sporting a black eye after his victory over Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday

‘My son JJ was with my mum while the fight was going on,’ Joshua said.

‘I was speaking to my son who is 18 months and I could see he was looking at my eye and he went, ‘Wow”.

The 27-year-old still lives at home with his mum in their former council flat despite buying a £500,000 property in Finchley for the mother of his child Nicole Osbourne.

Joshua says he FaceTimed his mother and son who he banned from attending the fight

And Joshua reveals he is remaining humble despite pocketing an estimated £15million from the heavyweight fight against Klitschko.

‘I’m going back to the same house and the same family. Nothing changes,’ Joshua said.

‘I had a big sleep at the time my body needed it. I’m looking forward to having more lie-ins and taking it easy for a few weeks,’ he added.

While Joshua’s next opponent is yet to be decided, he called out fellow Brit Tyson Fury in the ring after defeating Klitschko through an 11th-round stoppage.

Joshua tweeted a photo of his son Joshua after he beat Klitschko in an 11th-round stoppage

Joshua called out to the crowd: ‘Fury where you at, baby?’

He added: ‘I love fighting. Tyson Fury, I know he’s been talking, I want to give 90,000 a chance [to see us], I just want to fight.’

Fury has not boxed since his own victory over Klitschko back in November 2015 but still took Joshua up on the offer.

Fury took to tweeted: ‘Challenge accepted’. We will give the world the biggest fight in a 500 years.

‘I will play with you. You are a boxer’s dream.’

Fury then again tweeted promoter Eddie Hearn asking to sort out a fight between the paid, calling Joshua a ‘weightlifting punk’ in the process.

  • Who’s next after Joshua KOs Klitschko to become boxing king?

Who’s next after Joshua KOs Klitschko to become boxing king?

Who is next for the king?

Answer to that question is not far fetched. To pugilists and the Nigerian born British newest boxing king Anthony Olaseni Joshua there are two obvious fights next up for him.

He can either face Tyson Fury, who beat Klitschko all those months ago, or the American Deontay Wilder, who has 38 straight wins, 37 of which are by knockout.

After the fight Joshua was big on the possibility of fighting Fury.

” “Tyson Fury, where you at baby? Come on, is that what you want to see? I enjoy fighting. I love fighting. Tyson Fury I know he has been talking a lot and wants to come back and compete. I want to give 90,000 people another chance to come back and watch some boxing here,”  he said.

The truth is that it doesn’t matter any more.

Joshua is the biggest name in boxing and one of the biggest names in the world of sport.

Wilder and Fury would both be lucky to face Joshua and in truth they would be lucky to come out of a bout with their chins intact.

    Anthony Joshua Vladimir Klitschko

Neither have shown anything recently (Fury hasn’t fought since Klitschko 17 months ago) to suggest they could live with Joshua, who has proven himself against one of the greatest of all-time.

They’ll both present tests in their own way, Fury in particular could pose real problems if he’s in shape, but nothing like the test Joshua’s right hand presents.

If anyone is going to unify the belts, it is going to be Joshua.

    And Klitschko?

Klitschko is one of sport’s great gentlemen. The respect between himself and Joshua was clear for all to see and the fact that Klitschko was so much better on Saturday night than against Fury demonstrates how he felt he needed to be at his best.

Even at the age of 41 Klitschko showed that he too deserves a place in the pantheon of the greats and if he were to retire there would be no shame; he did himself justice in this fight.

That is for him to decide though. He will be disappointed with this result but he can be proud of the part he played in this incredible story.

History shouldn’t, and won’t, forget what Klitschko has achieved in his career, and for the grace with which he conducted himself. Joshua is his true heir out of the ring as well as inside it.

    REASONS WHY KLITSCHKO LOST

Nigerian analysts  as published today in one of the national dailies(online medium) there are four major reasons whythe 41 years old but with more experiences Klitschko, lost the bout to Joshua

    1. Age

At 41, Klitschko though still very much the athlete was visibly tired by the end of the ninth round. Anthony Joshua, who is 14 years younger, wouldn’t have lasted the distance against the rampaging Ukrainian when he was in his 30s.

    2. That sixth round goof

The much-experienced Klitschko entered the ring with an incredible stat, 53 KOs in 68 fights and 64 victories. The sixth round should have been the end. Early in the round, the powerful Ukranian hit Joshua with a massive right hand, spilling his mouthpiece.

The UK Guardian exclaimed: “Joshua in serious trouble! Oh dear. Joshua looks exhausted. He’s taking shots that he sees coming. Too tired to move out of the line of fire. No legs, breathing through his mouth heavily. Now he digs deep at the end of the round but it’s surely too little too late.”

Klitschko had the moment to finish off Joshua, he didn’t and the rest is history.

    3. Fight rustiness

Klitschko’s last fight was against Tyson Fury on 28 November 2015, losing his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, The Ring, and lineal heavyweight titles. After two botched rematches between the two, Fury was forced to vacate the WBA (Unified), WBO, IBO heavyweight titles.

After 18 months of inactivity, the 41-year-old stepped into the ring against a younger man who last fought in December 2016.

    4. Joshua wanted it more

The scary thing is that he’s only just getting started; in many ways this was Joshua’s coming of age fight.

JEFF POWELL fight report: Anthony Joshua climbs off the canvas to defeat Wladimir Klitschko with eleventh-round stoppage in remarkable heavyweight contest at Wembley

Anthony Joshua came back from a darkening place in Wembley Stadium into the dazzling light of heavyweight greatness as he ended the Klitschko heavyweight era.

Already the people’s hero in this, his homeland, the young British lion gained a whole new planet of admirers as he stopped the legendary Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round of an epic world heavyweight title war.

Both these heavyweight giants went down from sledgehammer punches in the first half of a brutal battle between two men steeped in mutual respect, Klitschko in the fifth round, Joshua hitting the deck even harder in the sixth

A right uppercut from hell halted Klitschko’s clever approach to victory in the penultimate round. He rose but the 14-years younger man who had looked exhausted for some time took an energy charge from that success and dropped him again with vicious left hook.

Again the Ukrainian regained his feet, the way a true champion should go out. But he lurched back into a torrent of blows and American referee David Shields rightly intervened.

Joshua, a 27-year-old saved from the mean streets by boxing only eight years ago, was now the unified world heavyweight champion by virtue of his 19th knock out in his first 19 professional fights.

Although he did not decide on retirement as the huge assembly saluted his courage as well thundering their acclaim for the home-town superstar.

The perceived wisdom had been that Joshua would win early or Klitschko late.

It was heading that way until the Joshua lightning struck. He had looked out on his feet since landing his first knock down on Klitschko and it was his strength of will-power rather than his physical conditioning upon which he called for his miracle.

Even after the referee stopped it he staggered back to his corner, bereft of the breath to join the throng in their exultatations.

WBC champion Denontay Wilder was also an intense observer at ringside.

In the dressing room corridors at Wembley and the tunnel entrance to the pitch notices are posted warning that anti-noise ear protectors must be worn inside the stadium.

They are meant to guard against the high-decibel levels at concerts but the largest crowd in the history of British boxing gave Klitschho and Joshua a fairly deafening reception as they came to the ring.

The hype generated prior to this night had been more electrifying than for any previous fight in this country and the 90,000 in attendance were super-charged in expectation.

The new, young and ever-smiling British world champion against the veteran Ukrainian gentleman who until recently reigned over the marquee heavyweight division had caught the public imagination even more vividly than Our ‘Enery Cooper’s tilt at Muhammad Ali nee Cassius Clay and Frank Bruno’s persistence in finally winning his world title.

Earlier forecasts of rain and single digit temperatures come time for the big fight mercifully gave way to clear skies and a relatively mild evening.

As night fell Wembley was transformed from a sunlit paradise into a vast electric light theatre-in-the-round with the illuminated ring almost beating at the heart of the darkness and twinkling photo-flashes from tens of thousands of mobile phones lending a magical air.

The two gladiators looked to be the calmest people here as they were interviewed back-stage before making their entrances.

Both had scouted out the lengthy walk to the centre of the pitch beforehand. Neither Joshua nor Klitschko had left the so much as the tiniest detail to chance in their preparations.

For good reason. Joshua was coming to the threshold from IBF heavyweight title-holder to potential greatness, Klitschko bidding to extend a glittering career by joining the elite pantheon of three-time world heavyweight champions.

The first growl from the stadium’s throat came as pictures of Joshua having his hands wrapped appeared on the giant screens.

There were cheers from a sizeable German and Ukrainian presence as Klitschko was shown limbering up in his quarters. But the home fans were roaring as all Joshua’s 18 knock-outs were screened in quick-fire succession.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, to whom Klitschko had likened Joshua in his body-building prime was among the many celebrities, as was heavyweight royalty in Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and David Haye.

There was bedlam as AJ embarked on the latest journey, pausing to pose on a platform between blazing effigies of those two initials. He then touched gloves with that familiar grin. That whole performance kept Klitschko waiting in the ring for more than ten minutes.

There was a further delay, accompanied by loud music, before the national anthems were sung by 2015 X-Factor winner Louisa Johnson – and about 80,000 choristers – and Natalya Klitschko, the singer-songwriter wife of Wladimir’s former world heavyweight champion brother Vitali.

Surprisingly, Klitschko had weighed in lighter than Joshua, by a full ten pounds. Presumably the older man was looking for more speed but although the first feelers came from his left hand the more meaningful of the early punches came from Joshua in flurries. A reasonable start for AJ.

Klitschko appeared to be looking to extend Joshua into his longest fight to date and he needed all those expert defensive skills to ward off the first really two-fisted charge from Joshua. But he was not entirely passive, even though Joshua extended his lead.

Klitschko upped the ante at the start of the fourth, connecting with a two-fisted attack early on. Although Joshua steadied himself he was having difficulty landing cleanly and was out-boxed for the first time.

Now came the Joshua everyone loves. A barn-storming onslaught which lowered Klitschko to his knees for an eight count. But the old man wasn’t done yet.

Joshua looked troubled and alarmed at the start of the sixth. His instincts were correct. Even with a nick on his cheek Klitshcko looked the stronger and proved it with a huge right which dropped him on to the seat of his pants, then his knees. Joshua climbed upright but the Ukrainian was the hunter now.

Klitschko had been accused of being the jabber and grabber but it was Joshua who was holding – and gasping – now as Klitschko took control with his experience and ring generalship.

Joshua needed to find a second wind and he showed signs of recovery in the eighth. Klitschko’s left eye had been damaged earlier and was swelling now. But after more lefts from Klitschko the Englishman’s left eye was showing signs of wear and tear.

Remarkably the 41-year-old was moving more fluently on his toes. The crowd were roaring for every Joshua swing but by no means all were landing. Even so, enough got through to give him a share of my first even round.

Klitschko had been expected to dominate the championship rounds. Joshua challenged that theory with another early burst. But he was missing a lot now and was received a second warning for hitting low as his frustration grew with Klitschko’s jab.

Joshua had gone back to his corner shaking his head. But after a lecture from trainer McCracken he mounted a magficent do-or-die effort.

Anthony Joshua has revealed a behind-the-scenes look into his life over the past two years with a BBC documentary to be released in the build-up to his fight with Wladimir Klitschko.

A sneak preview of the documentary includes a clip of Joshua brushing shoulders with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, just after winning the IBF Heavyweight title against Charles Martin.

The pair walk along smiling arm-in-arm as Joshua towers over the United manager, with Mourinho revealing that the fight was the first boxing match he had ever been to.

The Watford-born boxer is also shown posing with his belt alongside grime rapper Stormzy following the Martin bout in April 2016.

In other clips posted in the YouTube preview, Joshua is seen relaxing with his team in the build-up to the fight as well as on his walk-out to the ring in previously unseen footage.

And when a reporter asks how hearing ‘Anthony Joshua: Heavyweight Champion of the World’ sounds, the boxer insists he’s only ‘a quarter of the way there.’

The full programme will document Joshua’s rise to the top since fighting Dillian Whyte in December 2015 and is released just days before his clash with Klitschko.

Joshua takes on 41-year-old Klitschko at Wembley on Saturday April 29 for the WBA Super title and the IBO Heavyweight title.

Joshua recently called out his opponent, claiming Klitschko is ‘too old and faded’ and questioned whether Father Time had caught up with the Ukranian.
