Extending heartfelt commiserations to the Mohammed family and the APC family in Adamawa State, President Buhari said he was extremely saddened by the death of the veteran politician, whom he had the pleasure of working with for many years.

The President, in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said he was grieved to learn that Hajiya Fati collapsed at a Consultative meeting of the Adamawa Central Senatorial District of the APC attended by Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and was confirmed dead on arrival at the University Teaching Hospital, Yola.

“The party has lost a hardworking leader who loved her work very much. My condolences to her family and well-wishers,” the President said.

  • APC chieftain faces Oshiomhole

A Former national chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress (APC)  and a chieftain of the party in Edo State, Chief Ibrahim Emokpaire has thrown his weight  behind the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Aliyu Adams Oshiomhole on the ongoing crisis with some members.

According to a statement Emokpaire said, Oshiomhole deserves the support of all and enjoined all members to support him.

“We all unanimously elected him as the party leader on June 23rd, 2018,” he said.

Emokpaire said: “We can see the handiwork of the agent of tenure elongation at play, the same advocates of tenure elongation are mostly behind the removal of the party National Chairman”.

He said the election primaries crises were created by those who believe in tenure elongation. “ We should not heap the blame on Comrade Oshiomhole, he has given our great party, the APC a strong and unwavering leadership; upholding internal democracy since assumption on duty as the National Party Chairman.”

Emokpaire advised that party members should not allow those being sponsored by the opposition to whittle down the authority and strong leadership direction of the party chairman.  “Our party, the APC has achieved enormous feat since we came into the government. The President Muhammadu Buhari  administration has demonstrated to Nigerians that good governance is possible.”

  • APC chieftain promises to deliver Warri North

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Warri North candidate for Delta State House of Assembly has promised to deliver his constituency to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 general election.

David Atie won at the primary for his constituency, scoring 169 votes at Iwere College, Koko.

He reiterated that his victory would be replicated in 2019.

Atie who spoke to reporters in Koko, noted that a huge deficit had been created due to years of poor representation.

He promised his constituents quality representation.

The candidate, however, said although some disgruntled elements attempted  to disrupt the primary, the election was free, fair and transparent.

He warned anyone claiming to be the party’s candidate  to desist, noting that by his unlawful action, he is walking the road to jail.

Atie said the Returning officer, Alexander Onyekeni, conducted the election with the official delegates’ list, ballot papers, and result sheets obtained from the party headquarters.

“The All Progressives Congress has an established procedure for electing  candidates and has followed it religiously and methodically to a conclusive end, which led to my emergence as the flagbearer of the party for Warri North’’.

  • APC chieftain Dahiru Yabo joins PDP

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Dahiru Yusuf Yabo, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

    He announced his defection yesterday.

Yabo, a former governorship candidate of defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), promised to support Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s presidential aspiration.

The former commissioner was hard on President Muhammadu Buhari’s critics until recently.

Yabo noted that he defected because President Buhari has failed to deliver his electoral promises to Nigerians.

He said: “Despite working hard for Buhari’s election in 2015, the APC leadership failed to honour the merger agreement reached with former Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Wamakko with the defunct CPC members since 2015.

“My resolve to join the PDP is because of Buhari’s failure to deliver on the promises made to Nigerians, especially in security. I was one of his political foot soldiers and close allies in the past years but he cannot even recognise me now.

“We hereby resolve not to trust Senator Wamakko as the APC leader in Sokoto due to his penchant for betraying his associates.”

The party chieftain lamented that APC only succeeded in promoting hardship and sufferings in Nigeria.

“Unfortunately, rather than the change it promised to the electorates, the party only caused socio-economic discomfort to Nigerians whose lives have been impacted negatively due to impeccable failure of the ruling party.”

He denied any move to contest the governorship, and promised to mobilise people for Tambuwal’s presidential aspiration.

  • APC chieftain to Saraki: declare your stand now

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) , Yekini Nabena, yesterday challenged Senate President Bukola Saraki  to take a position on the ongoing political realignments in the country.

Nabena, who is also the APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, accused Saraki of playing the role of a double agent in the party.

Nabena told Saraki that he was  free to associate with whoever he chose within the rules of the game instead of trying to destroy APC.

He said the senate president betrayed the trust of the party by sponsoring rebellion within it.

Nabena said Saraki learnt nothing from his original betrayal of APC in 2015, when he emerged senate president against the wishes of the party and through manipulative processes that denied the party its right to produce the Deputy Senate president.

He said: “In recent times, there have been attempts to discredit the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Federal Government it controls by a roguish alliance of forces within and outside the party.

“The President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has loomed large in this scheme. Saraki has never hidden his sympathy for those who have launched a vicious attack on the APC, a party that gave both him and the nascent mudslingers the platform on which they ply their political careers.

“The APC is not averse to dissenting positions. But we reject deceit in every shade or form. Saraki must declare now where he belongs, whether he is for APC or other political interests. He cannot serve God and mammon. He cannot play hide-and-seek. He cannot hide behind his fingers.”

Nabena said the party was aware that a number of Saraki’s aides and close allies left APC for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“For example, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has returned to his former home in PDP; Saraki’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed has withdrawn his membership from APC.

“We are also not unaware of the fact that Saraki is the brawn and the brains of the so-called Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC).

“The senate president’s current activities are a betrayal of his position at the last national convention of APC, where he urged the new leadership of the party to carry everyone along in the effort to improve the party and enhance its chances ahead of the impending political contests in the country.

“When he made those comments, we had thought he was sincere and that he would follow through his counsel. But, alas, we were wrong.

“It is clear that Saraki has not learnt any lessons from his initial betrayal of APC in 2015, when he traded off the party’s right to produce the deputy senate president for his selfish ambition of becoming the senate president.

“APC is a democratic institution and Saraki is free to make choices in accordance with the laws of the country. But he cannot continue to take members of APC for a ride.

“Politics is based on trust. Saraki has betrayed the trust reposed on him by the party. If he wants to leave APC, let him leave peacefully, and not try to destroy a house that gave him accommodation when he needed it most. His current attitude can only be the action of a traitor or a double agent.”

  • APC chieftain appeals to Buhari, Oshiomhole to curb money politics

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Alhaji Muritala Abubakar, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari, the newly elected National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to help uphold the democratic norms and principles of the party.

Abubakar, who is the chairman of APC Internal Democracy Advocates (APC – IDA), in a statement called on the top leaders of the party to whittle down the negative effects of money in the selection and election of candidates, saying “We are at the brink where principled internal democracy is consistently sacrificed for money, by inducing the delegates so as to become the flag bearer of our party.”

The group urged Oshiomhole to think of a more credible alternative to adopt in nominating candidates for election, saying the party’s constitution is flexible, as it provides different options like direct primary, where all card carrying and registered members of the party in a particular ward, local government or state will be involved in electing the most popular person.

Abubakar added, “Our group is not oblivious of the fact that the direct means of election might be cumbersome but it will bring sanity, integrity and ensure transparency for the right and popular aspirant to emerge as candidate.”

  • APC chieftain makes case for guber candidate from Ukwa-Ngwa

A stakeholder of the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Sam Nkire, has expressed his fears that his party may lose out in its bid to clinch the governorship seat if it fails to field an Ukwa-Ngwa candidate in the 2019 elections.

Nkire said that since the present democratic dispensation started in the state that all governors who had governed the state from Dr Orji Uzor Kalu from Abia North to Senator Theodore Orji Abia Central that all took their two terms.

He said that it will be absurd if the people of Abia South whose turn it is to govern the state now is not allowed to complete its second term, stressing that the zone which is Abia south should be allowed to do what other zones have done in the past.

Nkire’s fears were contained in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen, saying that if the APC in the state fails to field a candidate from the Abia south that it stands the chance of losing out from the governorship seat come the next election.

The statement reads, “Chief Nkire a stakeholder of Abia state APC has predicted that APC may lose governorship election in the State if it does not field a candidate of the Ukwa-Ngwa extraction.”

“My advice is that the only way to defeat the PDP government in Abia State is to choose a popular candidate from Ukwa-Ngwa area, any political party that chooses its candidate from outside Ukwa-Ngwa was doomed to fail.”

Nkire noted that the Ukwa-Ngwa people, just like the people of Northern Nigeria, would close ranks once their ‘turn’ is threatened to achieve a common agenda and appealed to the people of Old Bende to reciprocate the same gesture they had done for them in the past.

  • Akeredolu to Fayose: You can’t stop us from coming to Ekiti

Ondo State government on Tuesday criticised the statement credited to Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose through his Media aide, Lere Olayinka, castigating Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Fayose had alleged that Akeredolu brought no fewer than 150 policemen to Ado-Ekiti last Friday to instigate the gun attack in which about four persons, including an APC chieftain, Opeyemi Bamidele, were injured.

He equally repeated the accusation that Akeredolu had planned to use Ondo State’s two months’ allocation to fund the electioneering of the APC governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

A statement by the Ondo state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Yemi Olowolabi said” Ordinarily, we would have ignored all the deliberate lies and falsehood, but we felt that we would not be fair to the unsuspecting larger members of the public if such lies were not debunked.

“For the information of the doubters, Governor Akeredolu, even if provoked, cannot debase his personality to a level that he will sacrifice the interests of his people for pecuniary gains.

“Instead of engaging in hypocritical activities like eating at motor parks and cutting ponmo at the market square, Akeredolu is currently applying the public resources for the betterment of the lives of the people of the state.

“So, it is interesting to state that Ondo is witnessing massive infrastructural development in all sectors of the state. On Monday at the state executive council meeting, a number of projects were approved for execution. That’s how development is moving in Ondo State.

“Governor Fayose and his boy should be reminded that the Akeredolu led administration has performed creditably well in the last one year and few months.

“On the Friday’s gun attack in Ekiti, we would like to refer Fayose to a statement by the Ekiti State police spokesperson, Caleb Okechukwu, cleared the air on the issue. Investigation by the police had revealed that the shooter was a police officer brought from Lagos by an Ekiti politician.

‘For this revelation, we believe that the Ekiti governor and his cohorts will now bury their heads in shame.

“We, therefore, call the security agencies in the country to take note of the false accusation leveled against Akeredolu by Fayose and his town crier, who only a few years ago wrote a detailed report about the devious activities of his master.

“It is also important for Lere and his boss to know one very important fact, that unlike his boss, we are committed to the progress and peaceful co-existence between the state and Ekiti. I mean, aren’t we one before October, 1996? The seed of discord Fayose is trying to plant between the
two states will not germinate no matter how much cunning he is.

“We will love to state here categorically without mincing words that Governor Akeredolu reserves every right to show support for the candidate of his party in Ekiti state, just as Governor Nysom Wike and the rest are showing support for the PDP in the state.

“There is no law that prohibits that Fayose and the PDP are making issues out of this because of the smell of defeat that has overwhelmed them.

“Fayose also tried to rewrite the sad incident that occurred on Friday, claiming that the tear gas canisters that hit a taxi driver were fired by the policemen that accompanied the thugs from Akure.

Residents of Ekiti and those who were present during the incident knew that the pandemonium that greeted the shooting at the APC secretariat necessitated the tear gas canisters fired by the policemen.

“Please note that the Policemen who fired the tear gas canisters were duly drafted to the secretariat by the Ekiti state police command to forestall the breakdown of law and order.
On several occasions, we have come out straight to debunk the lies of Lere and his boss over an alleged statement made by Governor Akeredolu that he was ready to use two months allocations from his state for Fayemi’s election.

“But again, such lies can only be told by people of low esteem. As we speak, the workers’ friendly governor in Ondo state has paid the May salary of workers. We are not owning a dime.

“And unlike Governor Fayose who is owing the state workers between seven and eight months’ salary arrears, Akeredolu has paid up to date and also cleared four out of seven months backlog of salary inherited from the immediate past administration in the state”.

The statement pointed out that Ekiti election is July 14, and Akeredolu has paid May salary with the allocation for May,but Ekiti state government is still pushing the story of the governor planning to use two months allocation to pursue Ekiti election.

It added; “For the records, Akeredolu has recorded landmark achievements in the last 15 months of his administration in Ondo state. Fayose and Lere should take a ride to Akure and see what Akeredolu has done at Iwalewa and Abusoro. Or better still, Fayose should take a trip to the whole of Ondo State and see projects.

Projects like construction of Iwalewa Road, Akure, Construction of Sabomi Road, Ese Odo, Construction of Abusoro, Ijoka Road, Akure, Construction of Opasorun road, Bajare/Okemayo, Construction of St. Joseph Road in Idanre, Construction of 3 box culverts at Oyinmomo  Ishakunmi and Megida Rental Road , Ikare.

Others are Construction of Jubilee – Ugbe Road, Ikare, Construction of Oke Alafia Road, Supare,  Construction of Ogbomo Ifedara, Ajegunle Streets and Howlet Road, Ifon,  Construction of Ilara Mokin /Ikota, otherwise known as Gulf C road, Ilara, Construction of Police Road, Ore,  Construction of Virgin road network within GRA to Prison, Owo, Construction of internal and access roads within the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH) Okitipupa, Rehabilitation of the deadly Iwaro Oka hill and the
ongoing work at the notorious Oke Alabujoto in Ikare Akoko are there to mention  a few.

“Fayose and his boy also attempted to drag Governor Akeredolu into the attack by the herdsmen on Chief Olu Falae’s farm. What we don’t understand is whether Fayose understood what he was saying and the import of his statement.

“Akeredolu sympathized with Chief Falae over the attack and also issued a strong warning to Herdsmen to vacate the state. No single incident has been heard since them. We are aware that same herdsmen kidnapped Chief Falae under the PDP administration in the state.

“He, who comes to equity, must come with clean hands. We want to urge Nigerians to disregard the blatant lies being spread around by Fayose and his attack dog, Lere.

“Today in Ekiti, politics has been turned into a do or die affair by Fayose. His only strategy is lying and concocted stories. We are therefore, advising him and his cronies to go and prepare for the election”.

The statement emphasised that thousands of Fayose cannot stop Akeredolu and other APC governors from coming to campaign in Ekiti state.

  • APC chieftain warns aspirants against ‘desperation’

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State,  Akinlayo Kolawole, has warned the governorship aspirants against “desperation.”

Kolawole said in a statement  in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, that the aspirants are not going to war.

He urged them not to see the shadow poll as a “do-or-die affair.” He also advised the delegates against allowing their conscience to be bought by moneybags.

The House of Representatives aspirant for Ekiti North Constituency 11 said the partycan only be united after the primary, if the exercie is free, fair and transparent.

He also warned aspirants against desperation and violence in the election, saying that, as leaders of the party, they should  avoid unruly behaviour that could lead to anarchy.

Kolawole said: “Our leaders and members must have it at the back of their minds that all eyes on Ekiti. The whole world is watching and whatever transpires during the primary may determine the chances of the party in general election.

“So, as loyal party member, I appeal to all concerned persons in the contest to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and avoid any action that could promote crisis that can bring the party into disrepute.

He added: “Let me also advise the delegates against voting with parochial sentiment and financial gains. The destiny of APC lies in their hands at this particular period and it is expected of them to do what is right for the future of the party.” Kolawole promised to mobilise the people of his constituency to back whoever emerges as the APC candidate during the election.

  • Speaker’s death great loss to Oyo – APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, has expressed shock at the sudden death of the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Adeyemo. Adeyemo died in his Ibadan home on Friday of heart failure. Adewusi, who is a major political leader in Oyo State, described Adeyemo’s death as a huge shock, saying he was taken away at a time he was making great contributions to the political and socio-economic development of Oyo State and Nigeria.

As a fellow Ibarapa indigene, Adewusi said he shared robust ideas with the deceased at different times, pointing out that he was a good representative of the zone. He praised his astute leadership in the House of Assembly and extolled his virtues which he listed to include humility, candour, forthrightness and hardwork.

“Adeyemo’s death is a great loss to Ibarapa land, Oyo State and Nigeria at large. Given the qualities he manifested, there is no doubt that Adeyemo represented new generation of young politicians who also brought professional expertise to politics for the good of Nigerians. He will be sorely missed on the political turf in Oyo State.” Adewusi said. He prayed God to give his family,  Ibarapa indigenes, members of the House of Assembly and the Oyo State Government the fortitude to bear the loss.
