APC Delta North coalition calls for inclusion of pioneer members in governance

    …backs re-election of Tinubu, Oborevwori in 2027

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta North Coalition for Equity (DNCE) have called on the national leadership of the party and the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to ensure the inclusion of long-standing party members in governance.

They made the call during a recent coalition meeting held in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, where stakeholders expressed concern over what they described as the continued exclusion of pioneer and loyal APC members from key decision-making processes and political appointments.

Speaking at the gathering, the Convener of the APC DNCE, Chief Alex Ikpeazu, emphasised that sustainable party growth and effective governance could only be achieved when those who laboured for the party’s survival are recognised and fully carried along.

He urged Governor Oborevwori and the national leadership of the APC to promote equity, fairness, and inclusiveness, noting that many founding members have remained steadfast despite political challenges and frustrations.

“We have been in the party for years without defecting and have not benefited from the party we diligently formed. We do not want those who joined later to override us. We do not want to continue to be in bondage,” Ikpeazu said.

He called on the national leadership of the party to establish a clear framework that prioritizes old APC members for leadership positions at the ward, local government, and state levels, stressing that such an approach would foster unity and understanding.

“The coming congress should be devoid of conflict. Governor Oborevwori should also consider old APC members in appointments across the state. It is the turn of Delta North to produce the state party chairman, as Delta South and Central have already done. Once it is zoned here, we will harmonize and present our best candidate. This will help mend fences ahead of 2027,” he added.

The Secretary of the coalition, Hon. Kemmer Enina, warned that marginalising founding members could weaken party unity, noting that exclusion breeds discontent and undermines loyalty.

Similarly, Ambassador Kenneth Rafua, a coalition leader, stated that inclusion is not a privilege but a right, adding that experienced party members possess the vital institutional memory needed to strengthen governance.

Another leader, Ben LionHeart Williams, appealed to party leaders to avoid actions that could alienate committed members, describing unity as the backbone of political success.

The coalition’s Publicity Secretary, Chief Barr. Williams Agholor said the group’s position was not driven by bitterness but by genuine concern for the future of the APC and effective governance in Delta State.

Also speaking, High Chief Gabriel Ohai, the Odogwu of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom and a pioneer APC member, recalled the sacrifices made by early members of the party and called for deliberate efforts to reintegrate them into governance structures.

Other members, including Comrade Victor Sorokwu, Ajifo Nwabunma, and Mr. Osafule John, echoed the call for recognition, fairness, and active participation of founding members in government affairs.

The coalition reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and pledged continued support for the government, while urging party leaders to address their concerns in the interest of unity and progress.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to working toward the re-election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

E-registration: APC dismisses ADC’s coercion allegation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the ruling party is coercing civil servants to join its ongoing electronic registration exercise.

The APC said the ADC’s claims indicate the opposition is intimidated by the massive turnout of Nigerians identifying with and joining the party.

The ADC, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said forcing civil servants to register for the APC’s e-registration drive amounts to economic coercion and forced political membership.

Dismissing the claims, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the allegations were “entirely false and baseless.”

Morka accused the opposition of being rattled by the e-registration’s phenomenal success, leading it to “spew lies” to smear the exercise.

His statement read: “Terrified by the massive APC membership registration in the ongoing electronic-registration exercise, the ADC has made a nonsensical allegation that civil servants are being pressured to participate in our party’s E-Registration exercise.

“That claim is entirely false and baseless and seeks to cast a shadow over the cutting-edge and groundbreaking digitisation of our Party’s membership register.”

APC dismisses ADC’s claim of coercing civil servants into e-registration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as baseless the allegation by the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the ruling party is coercing civil servants to participate in its ongoing electronic registration exercise.

The APC said the claim reflects the ADC’s intimidation and anxiety over what it described as the massive turnout of Nigerians identifying with and joining the ruling party.

At the weekend, the ADC raised concerns over reports that civil servants in some states were allegedly being compelled to register for the APC through its e-registration platform.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, warned in a statement that such actions, if true, would amount to economic coercion and forced political affiliation.

Responding on Monday in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the allegation as entirely false and without foundation.

Morka said the opposition party was unsettled by the success of the e-registration exercise and was resorting to false claims in an attempt to discredit the process.

The statement read, “Terrified by the massive All Progressives Congress (APC) membership registration in the ongoing electronic-registration exercise, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has made a nonsensical allegation that civil servants are being pressured to participate in our party’s E-Registration exercise.

“That claim is entirely false and baseless and seeks to cast a shadow over the cutting-edge and groundbreaking digitization of our Party’s membership register.”

Accusing ADC of resorting to a disinformation campaign, Morka recalled the fabrication and circulation of a fake “APC membership slip”, purporting that a notorious terrorist had registered as a member of APC.

He argued that millions of Nigerians who were inspired by the visible gains and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda have trooped out to voluntarily register for the party without any coercion.

He also noted that the massive turnout of Nigerians compelled the leadership of the party to yield to popular demand to extend the period of registration from January 31 to February 8, 2026.

Trashing the allegation, Morka noted, “The ADC is intimidated by the phenomenal success of our Party’s E-Registration exercise, for obvious reasons.”  He, however, argued that “that cannot justify concocting and spewing lies in an attempt to smear the exercise.”

He concluded that while the ADC continues to fumble and peddle falsehood, APC would remain focused on its onward march as Africa’s standard-bearer of digital and democratic innovation.
