  • Amaechi’s problem not Tinubu but political irrelevance, says Lagos APC

Amaechi’s problem not Tinubu but political irrelevance, says Lagos APC

Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed, with well-deserved contempt, the latest political hallucination from former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, who now claims Nigerians should “mobilise because President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can be defeated in 2027.’’

Spokesman Seye Oladejo in a statement yesterday in Ogba, Lagos said: ‘’Amaechi is free to dream, but he must stop mistaking his nightmares for national reality.

‘’Amaechi is a political orphan – disowned in Rivers, irrelevant nationally, and steadily sinking into total political oblivion.

‘’In Rivers State today, mentioning Amaechi’s name in political discussions is viewed as a provocative joke.

‘’A man who has lost his structure, lost his followers, and lost his voice has suddenly found the courage to lecture Nigerians on how to ‘mobilise.’

‘’Mobilise who? The few loyalists left in his WhatsApp group? Politicians who abandoned him the moment he lost the presidential primaries? The same Rivers electorate that no longer take him seriously?

‘’You cannot lead a national movement when your own backyard has padlocked the gate against you.

‘’The truth Amaechi avoids is simple:

his problem is not Tinubu – his problem is political irrelevance. It is always the loudest losers who shout the most about 2027.

‘’Amaechi’s noise is nothing more than the wounded cry of someone who has not healed from the humiliation of 2022.’’

Oladejo said while Amaechi was busy trying to resurrect his collapsed career, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was doing the actual work of rebuilding a nation: NELFUND unlocking education for millions. CREDITCORP boosting SMEs nationwide. Record FDI interest from Qatar, UAE, Europe and the Ogunlesi-led group. Highway, rail, port and aviation modernisation on an unprecedented scale. Agriculture, mining and security reforms stabilising Nigeria’s future.

‘’This is why even opposition voters now admit – privately, though grudgingly – that Tinubu is miles ahead of any contender.’’

Oladejo said Amaechi could not preach mobilisation without a platform.

He added: ‘’The question Nigerians should ask Amaechi is simple: Where is your political structure? Where are your followers? Where is your relevance?

In politics, you cannot give what you don’t have.

‘’Amaechi cannot mobilise a nation when he cannot command a polling unit.

Amaechi’s sudden activism is a familiar script: failed politicians always imagine a revolution when they can no longer win elections.

‘’But Nigerians know better, 2027 will not reward bitterness, betrayal or political tourism. It will reward leadership, courage and results. Tinubu has all three in abundance.

‘’Nigerians are not fooled. You don’t defeat a performing President with a disgruntled politician who has lost his home, base and relevance.

‘’Amaechi’s statement is not a rallying cry – it is a cry for help. Tinubu cannot be defeated. Amaechi cannot be resurrected.

    End of story.’’

APC, Oshiomhole, others score governor high

National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and other dignitaries have scored Governor Monday Okpebholo high on performance after 365 days in office.

They spoke at a colloquium to celebrate the governor’s one year anniversary.

Yilwatda said the speed at which Edo State would develop would be determined by Governor Okpebholo.

He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had increased allocations to state for the economy to grow.

The APC national chairman, however, said not all governors were doing what Okpebholo was doing with available resources.

He said the party was proud of Governor Okpebholo, saying there were improvements in critical infrastructure across Edo State.

“We saw what you are doing in road; we saw what you are doing in the health sector and others. We are proud of you.”

Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who is the lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial District, said the ability of Governor Okpebholo to hire and fire showed he was a man of steel.

Oshiomhole said Okpebholo displayed uncommon humility and didn’t engage in hiring consultants.

He said achievements recorded showed collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature, unlike during his tenure when he had a hostile House of Assembly.

“The remodelling and rebuilding of markets across Edo State is a testament to your connection with our womenfolk, who form the bedrock of our rural and urban communities

“Okpebholo’s actions speak louder than words. Edo State is once again shining as a beacon of progress and good governance. I celebrate your achievements and wish you continued wisdom, strength and success in the service of our beloved people.”

The lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency, Omosede Igbinedion, said Okpebholo had shown commitment, focus and dedication to the growth and transformation of Edo State.

“From stabilising governance to implementing impactful infrastructure projects and prioritising security and education, Okpebholo’s administration has shown that purposeful leadership delivers results.

“The rehabilitation of critical roads, rehabilitation of schools, educational reforms, employment, support for farmers and your engagement with the grassroots speak volumes about a governor who listens, acts and leads with humility.”

Governor Okpebholo said 300 people were killed in the state in 2024 in cult related violence, which made his administration to act decisively against cultism.

He said the last 365 days were about restoring trust, even as he declared that Edo would no longer be a safe haven for kidnappers.

Okpebholo insisted that he inherited N600billion debt and N180billion owed contractors, saying the Obaseki-led administration lacked transparency.

He hailed President Tinubu for embarking on economic and tax reforms, which he noted resulted in developmental strides in the state.

The governor said he had completed 60 kilometres of road out of the 253 kilometres of road his administration embarked on in the last one year.

He said he replaced his predecessor’s artificial intelligence generated governance with practical governance.

“When I assumed office a year ago, I met a state weighed down by rot, debt, insecurity and distrust. But with determination, prayer and teamwork, we have begun to restore hope, rebuild institutions and renew confidence in government.

“We met a collapsing system where hospitals lacked drugs and workers’ morale was low. We have begun rebuilding from the ground up. We are building new Primary Health Centres in 18 wards, providing diagnostic machines across local governments and building a new 100-bed Specialist Hospital in Udomi, Edo Central.

“In education, most schools were in decay and our children learned under poor conditions. We immediately began school renovations and teacher recruitment. Today, 5,000 teachers have been permanently employed, and 63 schools have been upgraded to modern standards. We also increased Ambrose Alli University’s subvention from N41 million to N500 million monthly.”

Dignitaries present were His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, members of the House of Assembly led by Speaker Blessing Agbebaku, former Speakers of the Assembly, Senator Neda Imasuen, Omosede Igbinedion, Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, former Deputy Governors Dr. Plus Odubu, Revd Peter Obadan, Mike Ogiadomhe, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Peter Akpatason, among others.

Kaduna PDP lawmaker defects to APC

Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on House Services, Daniel Amos, on Wednesday defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amos, who represents Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, recently announced his defection at a well attended rally at the Kafanchan Township stadium with  Senator Marshall Kaduna ( Kaduna South).

However, in a letter read at plenary by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, the lawmaker hinged his decision on what he called unresolved contradictions within the PDP at the national level which he said has weakened the capacity of the party to function well and represent the interest of the people.

He said the decision to leave the PDP was a hard decision especially when considered against the backdrop of the fact that the party gave him the mandate to represent his people after years of dedicated service to the party.

He regretted that the PDP has regressed  and has allowed itself to be weighed down by its own antics, making the party unattractive.

He said that after careful consultation with his constituents, he has decided to align with the policies of the Tinubu led APC government to bring further development to the people of his constituency as well as the efforts of Governor Uba Sani in bringing peace and development to Kaduna state.

APC, Adeleke clash over alleged N1trillion state allocation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke clashed on Tuesday over calls for accountability regarding what the party claimed is nearly N1 trillion allocated to the state in three years.

APC State Chairman Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement, demanded that Governor Adeleke should justify the nearly N1 trillion revenue reportedly received by his administration from November 2022 to September 2025, describing the government as “unproductive.”

Lawal claimed, “Our findings show that the Adeleke government received N25 billion from November–December 2022; N182 billion in 2023; N333 billion in 2024; and N310 billion from January–September 2025, with little or nothing to show for it. In just three months, July–September 2025, the administration received a whopping N124 billion in federal allocations—an average of N41 billion per month (see Page 9 of the Osun State Budget Implementation Performance report published on October 28, 2025). Yet, Osun citizens are struggling under the harsh economic policies of the Adeleke government.”

He added that despite the large allocations, no youth of the state should be subjected to the hardships imposed by the administration.

APC further alleged, “It is incongruous that a governor who brands himself ‘Mr Project’ spent only 26 per cent of his 2025 revenue on capital projects, while failing to pay N6 billion in gratuity arrears due this year. On what, then, is the people’s money being spent?”

Governor Adeleke, however, dismissed the allegations.

The governor, through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, described APC’s claims as “fake news” and insisted that his administration did not collect or squander N1 trillion in state allocations from 2022 to date.

Rasheed said, “The opposition statement is a devilish fabrication, a mischievous propaganda, and a failed attempt to undermine the commendable performance of the current administration, as attested by local and international stakeholders.”

“APC questioning how the governor spent a fabricated one trillion naira allocation to the state from 2022 to date is devilish. Only an anti-people party will claim not to see the almost 322 kilometers of roads across the state, the 200 health centre renovations, the rehabilitation of more than 100 schools, the ongoing dualisation across several towns, the ongoing upgrading and rehabilitation of several water works, the multibillion naira local and grassroots development projects, the flyover bridges, the new tractors, the ongoing renovation and upgrading of Osogbo stadium to a five star standard among others.

“Only a party set for another rejection in 2026 will deny the payment of half salaries owed workers and which the APC failed to pay while it governed the state. Pensioners are living witnesses of how state funds are being spent to offset pension debt which APC refused to pay and being liquidated by Governor Ademola Adeleke. The enrolment of over 30, 000 pensioners in the state health insurance scheme is an unprecedented policy which even the Federal Government has now adopted.”

The APC candidate said the vehicles of many supporters of his party and their buildings were destroyed and burnt in the course of the electioneering campaigns, adding that the battle has not ended.

On the possibility of challenging the outcome of the election, Ukachukwu said, he was still collating information from Wards to local government areas on what happened.

” For now, we are still collating data and information on the election. Again, there is nothing I can do without briefing my Party APC, they are the people to decide on our next move.

” However, despite everything that happened, I have to thank my supporters, members of APC family and friends for sticking out their neck during the period of campaigns and election.

“My major concern is the burning of the house of one of the APC supporters in Anambra East for being resolute despite every intimidation and harassment from the opposition.

” The young woman’s house was burnt and in the course of the campaigns, the vehicles and buildings of some of our supporters were destroyed and burnt but they JK kept pushing, I’m grateful”

The Chairman, Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, has cautioned party members in the state against actions and utterances that could create more divisions within the party.

Abbas issued the warning in response to the ongoing accusations and counter-accusations surrounding the confirmation of Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the Executive Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

He noted that some of the remarks being circulated by supporters of the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, and those aligned with the APC gubernatorial and deputy gubernatorial candidates, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and Murtala Sule Garo, respectively, are unhelpful and detrimental to the unity of the state APC.

“The issue at hand falls squarely within the constitutional responsibilities of the presidency and the Nigerian Senate.

“While it is the prerogative of the presidency to make nominations for appointments, it is the duty of the Senate to screen and confirm such nominees, in line with constitutional provisions,” he emphasised.

The chairman reminded party members that despite the differences that often arise in politics, the APC has always been a united and cohesive family.

He urged members not to allow disagreements over a single appointment spoil the bond that has held the party together over the years.

He expressed confidence that both the presidency and the National Assembly would handle the matter appropriately and in the best interest of the nation and the party.

APC clears Peter Obi’s polling units as early results trickle in

The All Progressives Congress (APC) posted a surprising win at the polling unit of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as early results from parts of Amatutu village in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, continue to emerge.

At Polling Unit 019, Umudimakasi, Amatutu village, the polling unit where Obi voted, APC secured 73 votes, defeating Labour Party (LP), which polled 57 votes.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) came third with 38 votes while four other parties: YPP, ZLP, APM, ADC and AAC, recorded one vote each.

The outcome marks a notable upset, given Obi’s deep political roots in Agulu and the wider Anaocha area, where he has historically enjoyed strong support.

Though Saturday’s election is not a presidential contest, the result at his polling unit drew attention from observers who had expected LP to dominate the area.

However, APC governorship running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, hails from the area.

Beyond Obi’s polling unit, early results from other units in Amatutu show the APC also leading.

At Polling Unit 015, located at Amatutu Village Hall, Agulu, APC won convincingly with 117 votes, far ahead of APGA’s 29 and Labour Party’s 10.

Similarly, at Polling Unit 023, situated at the Model Primary Health Care Centre, also in Agulu, APC again came out on top with 25 votes, followed by APGA with 8 and Labour Party with 7. YPP and ADC secured one vote each.

The consistency of APC’s lead across the three polling units suggests the party may be gaining ground in parts of Anaocha, traditionally considered stronghold territory for APGA and, more recently, LP.

Collation of results is still ongoing across the LGA and the State.

Anambra 2025: APC candidate Ukachukwu votes, alleges ‘widespread’ vote buying

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Anambra, Mr Nicholas Ukachukwu, has alleged widespread vote buying at the ongoing governorship election in the state.

Ukachukwu made the allegation in an interview shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 012, Umudimala Amaihe Hall, Osumenyi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state.

The APC candidate specifically accused the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) of vote buying across all polling units.

“From what I have been hearing, there has been reports of hitches and security challenges but largely, there have been vote buying.

“That has become the biggest menace that will witch hunt this country to a standstill. It will come to a point where leaders, who have the opportunity to be in power, will not be able to do anything,” he said.

Ukachukwu said that from one or two places that his people had visited, there were many things going on, including vote buying.

“It is a collective treasury that has been looted and given back to people to get back their mandate. It is a bad thing that everybody should condemn.

“So far, there has been no report of death or any major incidence of mishap,” he added.

The APC governorship candidate called for collective condemnation of what he called a bad practice, urging security agencies to live up to their responsibility of curb electoral fraud.

He also claimed that one of his party agents was beaten up in Utuh in Nnewi South Local Government Area.

Ukachukwu, however, said that exercising his civic right was a proof that he was qualified to vote and be voted for.

In spite of the vote buying allegations, he expressed the confidence that his party would win the election.

“I believe God that winning is still possible because the day is still young,” he stated.

Ukachukwu commended INEC for the early arrival of materials and officials, which he said had improved the electoral process in the state.

  • Ondo PDP chieftain defects to APC, begins grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election

Ondo PDP chieftain defects to APC, begins grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Hon. Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Announcing his defection in Irun Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area, Ibrahim – popularly known as Murphy – said his political focus is now centered on ensuring President Tinubu’s continuity in office beyond 2027.

According to him, his decision to join the APC and the increasing wave of support for the party across communities were not products of formal campaign activities but an organic expression of satisfaction with President Tinubu’s performance in office.

“I am here to make sure that Oke-Irun Surulere Ward is moving ahead and faster. I also want to rally round for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. At the grassroots, we are mobilising for him.

“I want to make sure 2027 is assured for President Tinubu. I have begun with my various groups to canvass support for him from the grassroots,” Ibrahim stated.

The former PDP stalwart commended President Tinubu for demonstrating exemplary leadership, noting that his economic reforms were beginning to yield positive results across the country.

He pledged to work tirelessly to mobilise grassroots support for the President and strengthen the APC’s base across Ondo State while urging party members to remain united and steadfast in preparation for future elections.

Receiving the defector, the APC Chairman of Irun Ward 7, Mr. Lasisi Ajongbolo described Ibrahim’s defection as a major boost for the party and President Tinubu’s 2027 ambition.

Ajongbolo praised Ibrahim as “a big pillar” whose selfless contributions to community development transcend political affiliations.

“His coming to the APC is an added advantage that will improve our chances ahead of the 2027 elections. There is no other party in this community than APC.

“Hon. Ibrahim is driven by compassion and a genuine desire to uplift others. He has continued to invest heavily in humanitarian and community development projects.

“His decision to come home and identify with his ward and community marks a new chapter of unity and leadership,” he said.

He added that the warm reception Ibrahim received in his political ward was a reflection of the immense love and trust his people have in him.

“Hon. Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, described by many as a visionary, compassionate, and people-oriented leader, is regarded as part of a new generation shaping the future of Ondo State politics.

“Ibrahim (Murphy) is more than a name; he is a movement of hope, an embodiment of integrity, and a symbol of transformational leadership.

“His journey inspires faith in the power of vision, compassion, and service to humanity,” Mr Ajongbolo said.
