  • APC steals show at debate

The Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) yesterday held the first part of its 2013 Deputy Governorship Debate, a prelude to the poll billed for November 16.

At the debate was the running mate of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC’s) candidate, Mr. Ralph Okeke and his All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA’s) counterpart, Dr. Nkem Okeke.

The debate took place at the Women Development Centre, Awka.

Other running mates present included Messrs Ikechukwu Okagbue and Christian Madiebo of the All Congress of Progressives of Nigeria (ACPN) and All Congress of Democrats (ACD).

During the debate, Dr. Okeke failed to live up to expectation, as he did not articulate what Anambra State would benefit if APGA continues in power.

Mr. Okeke, however, stole the show as he said that if APC was voted for, it would within four years double the state’s internally- generated revenue (IGR), hold local government election in the first quarter of next year and embark on the building of roads to open up the rural areas.

Dr. Okeke was asked by one of the moderators whether his party had a plan of improving on the state’s IGR or it would continue the pattern of the present administration.

The moderator’s question was a reaction to Dr. Okeke’s response to another question on how the state’s IGR would be shored up.

He admitted that there were corrupt practices and leakages in the collection of IGR by the present administration, promising that the Willie Obiano administration would block such leakages and check corruption.

Dr. Okeke also could not answer why the state’s roads were in a deplorable condition under an APGA government.

He, however, said job creation would form the thrust of the Obiano administration.

Mr. Okeke told the audience that his principal, Senator Chris Ngige, increased the IGR from N50 million monthly to N400 million monthly during his first tenure.

He said by improving the mechanism of collection, stemming corruption, ensuring security of life and property and investing in agriculture and agro-allied industries, the APC administration would within four years double the monthly IGR.

According to him, “an APC administration will not be satisfied with less than N1 billion in a month. There are many avenues, which can be exploited to realise this.”

On job creation, Mr. Okeke said if elected, an APC administration would tackle insecurity, to boost investment as it would attract foreign and local investors to the state and create jobs.

He added that the curriculum would be adjusted to make it technical and skilled-based, to produce entrepreneurs instead of job seekers.

The Chairman of NEDG, Mr. Taiwo Alimi, hailed the participants and the moderators for contributing to a lively debate.

He said it was organised to enable the people know the qualities of those seeking public offices.

  • Youth groups endorse Ngige

    Youth groups endorse Ngige

Over 40 youth groups under the auspices of the All Anambra Youth Forum (AAYF) has declared support for the All Progressives Congress’ (APC’s) standard-bearer, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige.

It described him as a God’s gift to the state.

The forum, in a statement by the chairmen and secretaries, said it had profiled the candidates and their manifestos and had singled out the Ngige 12-Point Agenda as a veritable tool for the social regeneration of Anambra State.

Presenting the statement at the campaign office of Senator Ngige, the Coordinating Chairman of the forum, Steve Anajemba, said Ngige’s agenda would take Anambra to greater heights and liberate youths from poverty.

The forum went on: “As youths, we have a duty to salvage our state. We are of course going to do it with our intellect, voice and votes. We shall use these three things to vote in Dr. Ngige as the next governor. The cap fits him. We urge you sir not to be deterred in your desire to bring change to Anambra State. You are sure of our support.”

It warned the Anambra State government to reconsider its plan of rigging the election and vowed that unlike 2010, the indigenes would not be docile and would resist subterranean moves to install a puppet in the Government House, Awka.

“We condemn the resort to violence by the Anambra State government and APGA in order to win the poll. Innocent traders are being arrested by security operatives on the instructions of the Anambra State government for protesting against Governor Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano when they came to campaign at Ose Market in Onitsha. “Prior to their arrest, many of them were beaten by thugs, following order from above. We deplore this resort to intimidation and give the state government a 24- hour ultimatum to release these people or face the wrath of the youths.”

Responding on behalf of Senator Ngige, Mr. Igboeli Arinze thanked the AAYF for the endorsement and assured them that the APC candidate would wipe away their tears if elected into office.

  • Anambra: Ngige as Nehemiah

    Anambra: Ngige as Nehemiah

During his recent tour of some local governments in Anambra State, the real value of Dr. Chris Ngige, the gubernatorial flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) became manifest for even the blind to see. What was meant to be a campaign tour turned into a socio-political carnival. The young, the old, the broken and the bruised, women and men of diverse callings trooped out to welcome the man they said was genuinely concerned in making Anambra State great. Several appellations were thrown at him. From the ‘Light that shines for all’ to ‘Bulldozer’, they spared no words to describe what they considered the superlative performance  of Ngige during his first term as governor of the state. Ngige was governor for 33 months between 2003 and 2006. But the one that caught my fancy was the nickname ‘Nehemiah’.

An improvised placard borne by a gaunt old woman put the message most eloquently. Ngi nwa bu Nehemiah, Biko bia dozie Anambra (You are Nehemiah, please come and rebuild Anambra). But was Ngige really the Nehemiah of Anambra? Or put differently, does Anambra need a Nehemiah? In the Bible narrative, Nehemiah was the Jewish cup-bearer for the Persian king. He was comfortable in the king’s palace but he never for once forgot the agony of his kindred, the Israelites. In his comfort, Nehemiah minded the distress of his people and took immediate steps to salvage the situation.

First, he sought the face and support of God, then he sought the permission of the king and went down to Jerusalem to rebuild a completely broken down city and emblem of God. In life, every good enterprise throws up its peculiar opposition. The case of Nehemiah was not different. He was opposed, chided and derided but he forged ahead, stirring the people and making them key into the vision of a beautiful and fortified Jerusalem with walls. At the end, he prevailed and was able to rebuild Jerusalem to the envy of surrounding nations and to the admiration of both the Jews and heaven.  Thus till this day, Nehemiah has come to symbolize the best model for the management of public affairs.

Perhaps, it is on account of this that the people of Anambra have likened Ngige, medical doctor, former civil servant and now politician to Nehemiah. They see Anambra as a broken down state with no walls. Yet Anambra just like Jerusalem was destined to be great. Providence endowed the state with a rich platoon of highly gifted intellectuals, leaders, consummate business people and proven professionals. Yet, in the midst of such glut of talents and skill, Anambra has been overtaken by a cult of mobocracy, a form of government in which touts and thugs, rustlers and hustlers hold sway. Anambra had been under mob action, roiled by mediocrity and cronyism.

It took the spunk and courage of Ngige during his 33-month tenure to break the evil grip of these tyrants from the neck of Anambra. Ngige was commandeered to make monthly donations to the political demigods that held Anambra captive for years. He refused, according to him ‘for the sake of the people’. Just like Nehemiah, Ngige refused to allow the comfort of his office to blind him to the suffering of the people. He set forth to rebuild Anambra. He broke down the walls of opposition not just from within his party at that time, the PDP, but from an amalgam of centrifugal forces unleashed by socio-political touts and army of goons in the state. At the end, Ngige triumphed. He earned the support and confidence of the people. He built the best roads of the highest quality in the history of the state. Till date, the roads he built over seven years ago are still used to benchmark quality of roads in the state. They are called ‘Ngige Roads’. He built quality schools and employed qualified teachers and for the first time, Anambrarians became willing again to engage knowledge within the confines of schools.

Ngige’s 33-month reign was dogged with struggles to free Anambra from the influence of the mob but that did not dampen his spirit to give the people the benefits of their mandate. Among all the candidates jostling to win the November 16, gubernatorial election, Ngige is the only one that combines experience with integrity. In a state where god-fatherism has ruined the polity, Ngige is the only candidate that has no god-father and more importantly, he is the only candidate that has the capacity to stand up to any politician who as much as pretends to play the godfather to him. He did it against former President Olusegun Obasanjo, against the Uba political dynasty and he says “I will do it again for the sake of my people even at the risk of my life”.

No doubt, Anambra people are desirous to have Ngige back to rebuild the state once more. For sure, Anambra needs to be rebuilt. Its walls are broken in varied places: infrastructure, healthcare, economic development, education, housing, sports and agriculture. Only a Nehemiah who has walked these paths before can do it again. Ngige is that Nehemiah; a man with no political or criminal baggage. In Anambra, we have become wiser this time. We will not vote for political party, we will vote for the individual based on their merit and history. The campaign that Ngige belongs to an anti-Igbo party (APC) holds no water because even the so-called Igbo party, APGA, is being run by a few men from Agulu, a town in Anaocha local government of Anambra State. Little wonder it is now being derided as the Agulu Peoples Grand Assembly (APGA).

Protesting traders foil Obi’s, Obiano’s campaign

Traders in Onitsha Main Market yesterday resisted an order by the government to close the market and welcome Mr. Willie Obiano, the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA’s) candidate in the November 16 poll.

The APGA’s standard-bearer arrived at the market about 9am with Chief Martins Joe-Martins Uzodike, his Campaign Manager and Commissioner for Information, Tourism & Culture.

The traders, who were angry, marched on the market, carrying placards.

They were later joined by their colleagues from Ose Okwodu, who carried brooms. Bystanders and okada riders supported them, singing in praise of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC’s) candidate, Senator Chris Ngige.

Not even the arrival of Governor Peter Obi could deter the protesting traders. Rather, the governor’s entourage was pelted with sachet (pure) water, prompting a retreat to the Whitehouse office of the Onitsha Amalgamated Traders Association (OMATA), where the donation of N1 million announced by the governor was shouted down, with many booing his entourage.

Obi’s agents were wooing the traders through their leaders. They persuaded them to come to the Onitsha North Stadium to be addressed, but the resistance was stiff.

The traders sang: “Ngige, Ngige, Ngige k’ayi ga esoooooo!

Ona eje eje o na ana ana,Ngige Ka’yi gaeso,” meaning “Ngige is the one we know and we will follow him wherever he goes.”

One of the traders said: “We received an order by the government saying we should not open today. We feel this is not okay. Every time, they will close our business without considering our interest.”

•Governor’s entourage pelted with sachet water

Another trader selling home appliances, Mr. Fred Nebedum, said: “It’s not by force to support a candidate. Obiano should tell us his manifesto, but this does not mean we should close our market.”

Mr. Phil Onyia of Abada line was more blunt: “Government is forcing an unpopular candidate on us. We want Ngige. Although we do not say anybody should not campaign, they should stop playing politics with our stomachs.”

Obi had earlier reportedly instructed parties not to campaign in markets, a decision decried by opposing parties for not being based on any law.

    Yesterday’s event, therefore, surprised parties.

A chieftain of the Labour Party in Onitsha, Mr. Luke Udeh, said: “Obi did not even obey his own instruction! This is unfair.”

Chief Amaechi Obidike of the APC did not pick his calls.

Mr. Jude Nkputa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said since Governor Obi had moved to campaign in a market, everyone would follow suit “and woe betide anyone who tries to stop us.”

  • Ngige: on quality leadership I stand

Ngige: on quality leadership I stand

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige, has said he is contesting to give Anambra people quality leadership.

The lawmaker spoke when addressing the knights of the St. Christopher, Nnewi Diocese, at a two- day retreat at Orifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

Ngige bemoaned the Governor Peter Obi administration’s poor performance.

“Quality leadership should be allowed to prevail in Anambra State.

“The forthcoming election will give Anambra indigenes the opportunity to install a government, which will give them the dividend of democracy,” he added.

The APC standard-bearer said if voted into office, he would address unemployment and insecurity and prioritise education, agriculture and women empowerment. He promised to build an airport, which would boost the economy and create jobs for youths.

Senator Ngige said if elected, “my administration will organise a local government poll and I will swear in the first democratically- elected chairmen and councillors since 2001.”

The knights assured him of their support in the election.

The Catholic Men Organisation (CMO), St. Anthony of Padua, Umudioka Dunukofia, has presented an award of excellence to Senator Ngige for his contributions to democracy and the development of the state.

The Chairman of CMO, Dunukofia region, described Ngige as a worthy ambassador of Christ because he broke the yoke of political godfatherism during his first tenure as a governor, a feat that earned him recognition as a beacon of hope in Igbo land.

The event was presided over by Rev. Fr. Theophilus Odukwe, Vicar of the Chaplain CMO of the region, Rev. Fr. Alloysius Ikekwe, the President General of Onitsha Archdiocesan CMO and Mr. Ofili Egbusi a lawyer.

  • ‘Award has proved Opon Imo critics wrong’

The recognition of Osun State’s Opon Imo (tablet of knowledge) as one of the best four e-learning products by the United Nations (UN)-backed World Summit Award/Global Congress on e-content and creativity has proved critics of the initiative wrong, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun chapter, said yesterday.

Opon Imo is an initiative of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola administration.

In a statement by its Publicity Director, Kunle Oyatomi, APC said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and all those who condemned the initiative should apologise to Nigerians for “suggesting that Opon Imo was a waste of resources”.

It said: “If Opon Imo was as bad as the PDP and ignorant critics claimed, it would not have won a world award. Instead of studying the project closely before commenting, PDP resorted to political mischief.

“Now that it has been proved wrong by world experts, who compared Opon Imo with 421 other such innovations, Nigerians should begin to think differently about Aregbesola and the APC government in Osun State.”

APC urged Nigerians to shun attempts by desperate politicians to discredit Aregbesola’s education reforms, “which has been acclaimed as a model to be replicated in other states by education experts”.

  • Alleged rape: APC chieftain denies media report

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon. Moses Idahosa, has refuted media reports linking him to alleged rape of one Joan Ethel Nwadike in Benin City whom he referred to as a faceless person.

Speaking with newsmen in Benin City, Idahosa noted that the report published by an Osun-based newspaper and circulated in the social media was a deliberate effort to tarnish his image.

According to him: “It is untrue, false, I have never met, seen or known anybody called Ethel Joan Nwadike in my entire life. How the story came about, I do not know, it beats my imagination that somebody can cook up such damaging story about me.”

The report which was complemented with his picture extracted from his facebook account and that of Dori Bolanle Adepoju Adesina, the late wife of His Royal Highness, Oba Deji of Akure, (claiming it was hers), he said has caused his immediate family and other relations as well as his friends and associates serious embarrassment.

While calling on the publishing outfit to retract the story in its entirety, Idahosa said he had already reported the matter to the police and hopes to seek redress in the court of law.

APC decries continued detention of its member in Edo despite court order

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the arrest of one of the party’s leaders in Edo State, Mr. Joe Okojie, and his continued detention even after a court of competent jurisdiction has issued an order for his release.

In a statement issued by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Lagos on Friday, the party demanded Okojie’s immediate release without condition, in accordance with the court order, saying that transferring him to Abuja, as being speculated, would signal that the PDP government had finally decided to substitute the rule of law with arbitrary rule, with grave prognosis for the nation’s democracy.

It wondered why the police, created to enforce the law and protect lives and property, would be so comfortable violating the same law.

APC said Okojie was arrested along with other party members, by CSP Patrick Ejedawe, a serving police officer in Lagos State who was one of the more than 1,000 out-of-town policemen who were drafted to Esan North East LGA of Edo State for the October 22 election in the council.

He was alleged to have arranged for party members to steal ballot papers and thumb print same secretly, when in fact he was called to help secure the release of APC members who were hounded into a truck by the police for not having ID cards.

‘’While others were released, Okojie was transferred to Benin ‘on orders from above’, where he was detained. After all efforts to secure his release failed, an action predicated on the fundamental human rights was then filed Thursday in a Benin High Court and the court ordered his immediate release pending investigation and adjourned the case to 4 November 2013.

‘’The order was served on the the Edo State Commissioner of Police before the close of business Thursday, but up till the time of issuing this statement, he has not been released. This is impunity at its worst and a slap on the face of justice,’’ the party said.

It expressed shock that a citizen’s right would be so wantonly violated simply on the basis of ‘orders from above’, when Nigeria is running a democracy that is based on Constitutional order and the rule of law.

‘’What does ‘order from above’ mean? Does it mean the Inspector General of Police or PDP leaders? We ask because the only reason 1,000 policemen were deployed for an election in just one local government council (without any request from the state government or the state electoral body) is that a prominent chieftain of the PDP hails from that LGA.

‘’Is it true that Okojie is being pressured to denounce APC before he can be released? Has the Nigeria Police now become the PDP Police? Is this the contribution that the Nigeria Police want to make to Nigeria’s democracy?’’ it queried.

    •Plot to remove Okorocha condemned

The alleged plot by the Presidency to remove Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha from office through the instrumentality of the Supreme Court, has attracted criticism in the state and beyond.

Decrying the reported gang up against the governor, the Imo State Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Marshal Okoroafor Anyanwu, warned that any attempt from any quarter to derail the state would be resisted by the people.

He said such a plan to return the state to the era of maladministration, corruption and recklessness, after it was beginning to recover, would not only fail but would also demean those behind the plot. “We have had enough of looting and irresponsible government. The Presidency should leave Imo State alone. We are better the way we are and they should leave us alone,” Anyanwu said.

He went on: “How do they think they can manipulate the court to return Ikedi Ohakim as the governor, after he has exhausted his case from the tribunal to the Appeal Court? I don’t know how one can plan to truncate a government that has been running in the last two years.

“If the Presidency succeeds in removing Okorocha and bringing Ohakim, how will they explain to the youth currently enjoying free education and other dividends of democracy? How will they expect them to fold their arms and watch as outsiders destroy their state? Enough is enough, we have had enough of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) madness. We are ready for them.”

A youth body, the Imo Progressive Youth Forum, has cautioned against any plot that would throw the state into anarchy. It said the court should not be manipulated in the governorship suit, adding that the nation’s constitution was above every person no matter how highly placed.

The group’s president, Mr. Onyegbule Kelechi Goodluck, said: “Truth must be told, the Okorocha administration is a departure from the era of waste and non-performance. Youths have been partnered and empowered and any plan to truncate this through dubious means will be resisted.

“We do not want any policy reversal that will end the development going on in the state. The free education, Youth Must Work programme, building of rural roads and improved health care delivery among others are some of the reasons the youth will support Governor Okorocha.”

  • ‘APC has better plan for Anambra’

‘APC has better plan for Anambra’

Human rights activist and Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Interim Publicity Secretary Comrade Joe Igbokwe is an indigene of Anambra State. He spoke with reporters on the party’s preparation for the November 16 governorship poll and major issues that will shape the exercise. EMMANUEL OLADESU was there.

Has did APC resolve the minor crisis that trailed the emergence of Senator Chris Ngige as its governorship candidate in Anambra State?

Senator Chris Ngige had no serious competitor at the primaries. Ngige has a fantastic, excellent and unquestionable pedigree that tended to dwarf the personality of other candidates. Comparing Ngige and these other contestants is like comparing apple and orange. It is like comparing President Obama and President Jonathan. It is like comparing the capacity of a brand new 504 pickup with the capacity of a 30year old Mark Truck. His structures in Anambra State are formidable, alive and strong. So, what you call a crisis is the mere imagination of those that expected crisis in the emergence of Ngige, but who were disappointed in the transparent way and manner the primaries were conducted by the APC. It is a fact that, apart from Ngige, other candidates in the election are battling with serious intra-party crisis. So, there was no crisis to resolve, except in the fertile imagination of the opponents of Ngige.

What is your assessment of Nigige’s campaign, in terms of public acceptance?

The campaign train is moving as expected, riding the smooth roads, the bumpy roads, climbing the hills and descending with grace and dignity, breaking ossified beliefs and heresies, engaging the high and the low, drilling the deepest wells, making politics adorable. The campaign is moving with common sense, even though common sense is not common, reaching to Igbo in Nigeria and Igbo in the Diaspora. Without sounding immodest, Anambra is the engine of Igboland. Anambra State parades the highest class of intellectuals in the Southeast and Southsouth. Anambra State is one of the richest states in Nigeria. Most celebrated leaders in the East of Nigeria are from Anambra State. In Anambra State, wealth is almost distributed house to house. In fact, a school of thought says that, if Anambra State is not good, Igboland cannot be good. It is based on this compelling need to keep Anambra State strong that informed our decision to beg Ngige to run again and our people are happy that he accepted. Consequently, anywhere we go there are shouts of ONWA GA ETI OZO (The sun will shine again)

What effect has the relocation of Anambra indigenes from Lagos had on the chance of Ngige and how are you handling the saga?

A sound and patriotic policy not targeted at any particular ethnic group, just to make Lagos livable, clean and decent has been grabbed by ethnic chance takers and miserable politicians to score cheap and dangerous political points. The plan of these political nitwits and dwarfs is to use the so-called deportation to bring Ngige to their level. These clowns know that they are not in the same political page with the former governor, Senator Chris Ngige, and their devilish plan is to beat down Ngige from his towering height to their miserable level by engaging in primordial sentiments and ethnic pre-occupation. It has failed and it will remain so. It is dangerous politics that may rock the boat and put to danger the cordial relationship between Igbo and Yoruba, if not properly handled. The chance takers and peddlers of misinformation will fail. In 2011, Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State deported 29 Akwa-Ibom State and Ebonyi State indigenes on the pretext that they were begging in Awka and Onitsha and heaven did not fall. About the same time, Governor Orji of Abia State sacked over 3,000 indigenes of Anambra, Imo, Enugu, and Ebonyi states from the Abia Civil Service and sentenced tens of thousands of Igbo men and their families to untimely death, eternal poverty and degradation. As at today, Lagos still hosts more Anambra people than Anambra State. Anambra people generate more wealth in Lagos than in Anambra. So, who loses in the devilish plot to use 14 destitute victims of poor, timid and rural governance in Anambra, who were chased into Lagos to live under the bridges, for primitive politics in the end? The Igboman is not foolish and will like to know why a government feels its citizens are better off living as destitutes under the bridges of Lagos than in their home state.

Don’t you think that APC rally in Onitsha on the day the Obi of Onitsha was celebrating Ofala festival was a political miscalculation?

Again, it is another dangerous politics to reduce the towering image of Senator Chris Ngige. If reality is to prevail, Ngige Campaign Organisation had extensive discussion with the palace secretary on the matter and the campaign organisation was asked to go on, since the Ofala festival in Onitsha is always conducted without asking people to close shops or markets because Onitsha people are civilized people who practise their well-respected tradition with grace, respect and profound dignity. Unfortunately, by the time the campaign organisation was talking to the palace secretary, our own Igwe (Dr) Alfred Achebe was in retreat (the normal tradition before the Ofala Festival) I am sure the palace secretary did not get the nod of His Royal Highness before he asked the campaign organisation to go on. That was the mistake. Senator Ngige is a traditionalist who understands Onitsha tradition very well, and he could not have ignored the highly revered Obi of Onitsha. Beyond all these however, it speaks of the depths and the height of depravity some people have taken Anambra politics to, for them to believe that such issues, and not the general welfare of the people, will count in the coming election. They will be in for a shocker at the end of the day because the common masses who know the intricacies and conspiracies between the present APGA government and the PDP federal government, which wants to sell APGA as a knockdown carcass to the PDP federal government.

How are you addressing the issue of power shift agitation to Anambra North?

In Anambra State, we do not believe in the doctrine of power shift because we do not celebrate mediocrity. Only the best is good enough for Anambra, Ndigbo and Nigeria. Four years is too much for a vibrant and a very important state to lose in the name of zoning. In Anambra State, we believe that, if need be to form a football team for the state, only the best is good enough. If eleven players come from Nnewi North, so be it. Zoning breeds incompetence, mediocrity, and backwardness in governance. You fall back to such compromise when you have failed in governance. When Dr Chris Ngige was governor between 2003 and 2006, every corner in Anambra felt his impact. He didn’t need to appeal to primitive sectionalism that breeds such factors as zoning to leverage his tremendous transformative powers in all nooks and crannies of Anambra.

What is your candid assessment of Ngige’s chance in the coming election?

There are 10 reasons why Ngige will be elected Ggvernor on November 16, 2013?

Dr Chris Ngige is a trained medical doctor of almost 40 years. He was in the Federal Civil Service for 18 years. He has served as a governor for three years and made unprecedented impact under very difficult and dangerous circumstances. He is a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is first President-General of Aka Ikenga, an organisation of Igbo intellectuals. He liberated Anambra State from despicable money bags and notorious godfathers. Of all the candidates contesting for the Anambra governorship, Senator Ngige is the most experienced, both in politics and governance. Ngige is the only candidate that opened the eyes of the people of Anambra State that there is money in government, contrary to the picture the previous governors painted. Ngige initiated and started the extensive road network we have in Anambra today. Ngige is the boldest, the most courageous, capacity driven, independent minded, most outspoken, fearless, strong willed, and firm among the lots.

Can you briefly give an insight into what he has in stock for Anambra people?

The taste of the pudding is in the taste. Anambra has tasted the Ngige pudding and needs no other factor to know he remains the best. The APC governors are putting up superlative performances in their respective states because they draw richly from the party manifesto and belief, which place the people above all other considerations in governance. We have star performers in the APC, who believe in the works of their hands to gain electoral approval and not those who believe in writing election results, whether they perform or not. Senator Ngige is coming back to reposition Anambra State. Insecurity in a cash-driven state like Anambra is the biggest problem. Ngige will bring security to Anambra State the way he did it before. Our people must travel home to enjoy their mansions without being harassed by kidnappers, armed robbers and petty thieves. Next is that we want to make the state capital, Awka, to look like a capital of a state like Anambra. The APC wants to rebuild our educational institutions, our hospitals, our courts. The APC wants to boost the economy of Anambra and Igboland by making Onitsha a seaport. The APC wants to build a world class airport in Anambra State. The APC wants to lift embargo on employment in Anambra State, which has been put on hold since 2006.
