    Jonathan appoints Ptdf Executive Secretary

    President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has appointed Mr. Olufemi Ajayi as the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

    Mr. Ajayi is from Ekiti State and until this new appointment, he was the Director-General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

    He replaces Dr. Oluwole Oluleye, also from Ekiti State, who has served as the Executive Secretary of the PTDF since 2013.

    The appointment is with immediate effect.

    NDLEA appoints Ibinabo Fiberesima, others ambassadors

    In a bid to strengthen its operations, the management of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has appointed some celebrities as ambassadors.

    The new ambassadors, who were sworn in last Thursday, include Ibinabo Fiberesima, president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Grace Amah, Uche Nnaji, Dayo Adeneye, alias D1, among others.

  • SMEDAN appoints Anyikwa Southeast Zonal Coordinator

    As part of the on-going decentralisation of its services and mass deployment of personnel, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has appointed its Deputy Director (Corporate Affairs), Mr. Levi Chukwuemeka Anyikwa, as the new Southeast Zonal Coordinator of the agency.

    He is to head the Zonal Office in Enugu from where he will anchor the programmes and services of the Agency in the five states of the Southeast geo-political zone, namely: Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo and Abia.

    The appointment was conveyed to him by the Management of the Agency vide a letter dated April 23, this year, saying: “I am directed to inform you that approval has been granted for your deployment to the Southeast Zonal Office at Enugu as the Zonal Coordinator with immediate effect.”

    Anyikwa, who was born on March 27, 1965, hails from Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

    He attended the (CMS) Primary School Umuchu from 1972 to 1978; Boys’ Secondary School Umuchu from 1978 to 1983; Anambra State Polytechnic Oko (now Federal Polytechnic Oko) from 1984 to 1986 and then Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) Enugu, known as Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) from 1986 to 1989.

    He later attended the University of Lagos, Akoka-Lagos, between 1994 and 1996.

    Wamakko appoints Commissioners, Special Advisers

    Two new Commissioners, Alhaji Tukur Alkali and Alhaji Ibrahim. Hussaini were Monday sworn in by Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto state.

    Also sworn in at the Government House council chambers were two Special Advisers, Alhaji Harande Mahe and Alhaji Musa Gudu.

    Speaking at the brief ceremony, Governor Aliyu Wamakko said the developments were necessitated by the need and exigency of public service and electorates mandate to the state leadership for the discharge of its responsibilities as enshrined in the constitution.

    However, the appointees were yet to get defined potfolios.

    According to the governor” the state executive council is the apex policy formulation body, which in collaboration with other arms of government, pilot the overall administration of our dear state,” he pointed out while adding that “those with the privilege of serving the
    state in highly esteemed capacity are both individually and collectively responsible to the government and the people of the state.

    The governor maintained that ” such privileged honour carries with it a great burden , which requires vision, courage, considerable sacrifices and above all, the fear of Allah.

    He further stressed the need for the appointees to imbibe the spirit of the fear of God, saying that” the fear  of God is invariably the key to success in every human endeavour,” Wamakko said.

    Wamakko hitherto, described the new appointees as men of integrity, dedication and commitment to the socio-political  development   of the state.

    His words: ” our political adventure is constantly being championed in the interest of our people not by our selfish motives”.

    Jonathan appoints new Group EDs for NNPC

    President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday appointed new Group Executive Directors (EDs) for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

    The appointments, according to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, were made to fill critical vacancies in the corporation.

    The new appointees and their portfolios include: Mr. Ian Gregory Udoh, Group Executive Director, Refining and Petrochemicals; Dr. Dan Iwoene Efebo, Group Executive Director, Corporate Services; Ms. Aisha Mata Abdurrahman, Group Executive Director, Business Development.

    Others are Mr. Adebayo Ibikunle Ibirogba, Group Executive Director, Engineering and Technical and Dr. Joseph Thlama Dawha , the Acting Group Executive Director, Exploration and Production.

    Udoh, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, has been Managing Director of Port Harcourt Refining and Petrochemicals Company Ltd. (PHRC) since November 2012.

    “He has considerable experience of managing the nation’s refineries having previously held the position of Executive Director, Operations at both the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company Ltd. (KRPC) and the Port Harcourt Refining and Petrochemicals Company Ltd. In addition, Mr. Udoh has served as a General Manager in the Refining and Petrochemicals Directorate of NNPC,” the statement.

    “Dr. Efebo is Group General Manager, NNPC’s Human Resources Division. He was General Manager, Human Resources, Brass LNG. He hails from Bayelsa State.

    “Ms. Abdurrahman is a native of Kogi State and has been the Managing Director of Nikorma, NNPC’s shipping subsidiary, since March 2011. Ms. Abdurrahma also served as MD, Hyson, an NNPC trading subsidiary, and as Executive Director (Services) of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC).

    “Ibirogba, a Chemical Engineer, is the Group General Manager, Engineering in the NNPC’s Engineering and Technology Directorate, and hails from Ogun State.

    “He has served as General Manager (New Business), General Manager (Gas Development), and Group General Manager, Greenfield Refineries. In 2010, Mr. Ibirogba became the first African to be elected to the Board of Directors of the World LP Gas Association.

    “Dr.a Dawha, who replaces Mr. Membere as Group Executive Director, Exploration and Production, has been Managing Director of Integrated Data Services Ltd (IDSL) since 2005.

    “He is an indigene of Borno State and has served the Corporation diligently, over the years, in various capacities, in the upstream and downstream sectors of the industry,” it stated

    All the appointments, according to the statement, takes immediate effect.

    CAC appoints Kolade, Akande, others award judges

    The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has instituted an annual corporate citizens award, with Dr. Christopher Kolade, Aliko Mohammed, Nike Akande others as panel of judges.

    The Chairman of the board, Otunba Funsho Lawal  disclosed this at the first annual corporate citizen award in Abuja, stating that, nominees must have complied with the requirements of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 1990 (cap c20,  laws of the federation, 2004) and respective industry regulations to date.

    He said: “The nominees must also have performed creditably well in corporate social responsibility and productively impacted on the industry within which they operate.

    “Other criteria that would be considered by the panel are: quality of financial management, management of stakeholders relations,  work place environment, corporate social responsibility, industry leadership, innovation, environmental performance.

    Lagos appoints Marketing/PR Consultant for F5WC

    The Lagos State Government has appointed Endasim PR as the marketing/brand and PR Consultant for the inaugural Football Fives World Championship (F5WC) holding in Dubai in June.

    A statement issued by Endasim PR Director, Segun Oruame, said that the public relations firm has been tasked with the responsibility of driving both the publicity and marketing arms of the project.

    “The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development has approved the appointment of Endasim PR as the Marketing/Brand and PR Consultant for the inaugural Football Fives World Championships (F5WC) otherwise called F5WC holding in Dubai, UAE between June 12 and 14, 2014,” observed the statement signed by Deji Aladegbemi who endorsed the letter of MoU on behalf of the commissioner.

    Oruame promised that the company will not disappoint in the marketing drive to ensure that the team that qualifies to represent Nigeria at the competition in Dubai “has a bright chance of becoming the champions just as the Golden Eaglets did late last year in the same UAE.”

  • Access Bank appoints new Executive Director

    The Board of Directors of Access Bank has appointed Mrs. Titi Osuntoki as a new Executive Director in charge Business Banking.

    In a statement, the lender said the unit is a business division within the bank and is focused on Small and Medium (SMEs). It described Mrs. Osuntoki as a highly qualified and experienced banker with over two decades of experience cutting across all facets of banking.

    According to the bank, Osuntoki joined Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in 1991 and was appointed Executive Director in 2008. In that role, she had direct responsibility for strategy formulation and business development in the bank’s Lagos Division and left Guaranty Trust Bank in October 2011.

    She is a member of the Non-Oil/Non-Agric Policy Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group. Until this appointment, she was an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Wapic Insurance Plc and the Chief Executive Officer of GTO Professional Services Limited, a business consultancy outfit based in Lagos.

    She holds a Second Class Upper Degree in Civil Engineering and an MBA from the University of Lagos. She is an alumnus of Cranfield University School of Management, UK. Mrs. Osuntoki has attended Executive Management Programmes in world leading Business Schools.

    The appointment has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria. By this appointment, Access Bank Board now comprises of 16 directors made up of seven Executive Directors and nine Non-Executive Directors, 2 of whom are Independent directors.

  • Lincoln University appoints Dickson Visitor

    Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has been appointed into the International Board of Visitors of the prestigious Lincoln University in the United States.

    In a letter to the governor, the President of the university’s Board of Visitors, Robert Jennings, said the appointment was based on Dickson’s track record of achievements.

    He said the university has closely followed the governor’s achievements since his assumption of office, adding that the university is proud of the various steps he has taken to reposition the state and make it more relevant in all spheres of national life.

    In his acceptance letter, Dickson described Lincoln University as an institution with unbreakable historic ties to Nigeria and Africa, being the university that produced great African leaders, such as the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and the late Kwame Nkrumah.

    He said he would commit himself to strengthening the vital bridge between the university and Africa, especially Nigeria.

    The acceptance letter reads: “Being the university that produced Nnamdi Azikiwe, my country’s first President, and other monuments to African progress such as Kwame Nkrumah, Lincoln has unbreakable historic ties to Africa and Nigeria.

    “I am eager to join you in advancing this rich tradition. As you have extended this honour to me, I reciprocate by committing myself to strengthening the vital bridge between your institution and Africa, particularly Nigeria. You shall find me a reliable friend and emissary in support of efforts to expand the educational, cultural, and social links the university now shares with Africa.

    “As the first university to award degrees to African- Americans and because of the many outstanding graduates who have contributed to the progress of our people, Lincoln holds a special place in the history of the black race. As a member of the Board of Visitors, I am morally obligated to honour that history.”

    Jonathan appoints permanent secretaries

    President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of three new permanent secretaries in the Federal Civil Service.

    They are Dr (Mrs) Habiba Muda Lawal, Mr John Obinna Chukwu and Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita.

    In a statement, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Sali, said the new appointees would replace the retiring permanent secretaries representing the North-East and South-East geo-political zones and that of Cross River respectively.

    Sali said that the appointments would take effect from the dates when the incumbent permanent secretaries retired from the service as follows: Mudal Lawal, Feb. 18, 2013; Chukwu, March 6, 2013 and Oyo-Ita, March 16, 2013.

    The statement was signed by Mr Tope Ajakaiye, Director (Press & Public Relations) in the Office of theHead of the Civil Service of the Federation.
