    PZ CUSSONS Nigeria PLC Corporate Affairs & Administration Director Mrs Yomi Ifaturoti will  receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the MarketingWorld Awards tomorrow.

    Scheduled to hold at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lekki, the Country Manager for Google, Mrs  Juliet Ehimuan, is the keynote speaker.

    In a statement released by InstinctWave, the sixth edition will display uniqueness of winners who have been able to convey clear messages to their consumers.

    According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), InstinctWave and the Publisher, MarketingWorld, Mr. Akin Naphtal, the idea to have speakers at the edition is borne from the fact that recognition has grown for the awards, while there is also the need to infuse freshness in ideas and creativity.

    • Excited to be in Blues first XI

    Super Eagles forward Victor Moses continued his splendid form for Chelsea as he was named the Man-of-the-Match in the Blues 1-0 win against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

    Chelsea went through the month of October without a defeat or conceding a goal and had the incentive of going top with a victory at the Riverside after Arsenal dropped points against Manchester United.

    The Blues got the job done with a poacher’s strike from Diego Costa to record his tenth goal of the premier league season and the win left Moses delighted.

    “We showed good character from the start, we had a few chances in the first half which we should have taken,” Moses told Skysport just before he was presented the Man-of-the-Match Award by teammate Gary Cahill.

    “In the second half, they came at us and we were strong at the back. We did very well today.

    Moses also revealed his excitement on becoming a super regular under Antonio Conte after going on three different loans at the start of his Blues career.

    “I am delighted and excited to be in the first 11, the new manager wants to give the youngsters an opportunity to express themselves.

    “The top is very tight. The Premier League is a hard season and we want to take each game as it comes.”

    Chelsea are now top of the premier league log with 28 points after 12 round of matches.

    AOCOED pro-chancellor gets award

    The Chairman Governing Council of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Oto/Ijanikin, Prof Tunde Samuel, has received this year’s African Education Personality Leadership award.

    It was presented to Samuel at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja by the African Institute for Leadership Excellence, organisers of the award.

    Samuel is one of the only 25 professors in the field in Africa.

    Samuel was the pioneer Provost of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED), Noforija, Epe, between 1994 and 2002.

    A former special adviser to former governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he is a member of  the state Governor’s Advisory Council, the apex advisory body in the state, others.

    Samuel thanked the organiser for finding him worthy among a legion of African scholars. He pledged to improve on his service to humanity.

    The African Prize for Leadership Excellence is a yearly award bestowed on some selected African personalities who have made impact in the development of the African economy through innovation, creativity and leadership.

    The Provost, Dr Ladele Aina, described Prof Samuel’s award as “deserving” of a leader and an academic who has devoted many years into scholarship and using his knowledge for the greatness of Lagos State.

  • Lagos SUBEB chair wins award

    Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB) Chairman, Mr Ganiyu Sopeyin has promised to sustain the performance that won him the “Best Performing Chairman in the Southwest” award presented by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

    The award was presented during the Inter-SUBEB Schools Debate Championship and National Final & Awards  in Minna, Niger State.  The Lagos team came third.

    Sopeyin said the award was possible because of the commitment of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode administration to take basic education in the state to an enviable height as promised during the elections.

    “The quality of education in the state is improving with the provision of education facilities, teachers’ welfare and training, construction and rehabilitation of schools and employment of teaching staff as approved by the state government,” he said.

    Sopeyin promised that the government would continue to strengthen the cooperation between the state and other stakeholders in the education sector.

    Chairmen, SUBEBs of Kastina, Cross-Rivers, Taraba,  Anambra and Niger states, also won awards, while Team Imo and Anambra came first and second in the debate championship respectively.

    Stanbic IBTC wins private bank award

    Stanbic IBTC Bank, a member of the Standard Bank Group, has won two awards at the Global Private Banking Awards for 2016 by Professional Wealth Management (PWM) and The Banker Magazine. The bank was named the ‘Best Private Bank (Wealth and Investment) in Nigeria’ and the ‘Best Private Bank in Kenya,’ an award it is winning for the second consecutive year. Stanbic IBTC was the only organisation so honoured in the West African sub-region.

    The awards, a joint venture between The Banker and PWM Magazine, both part of the Financial Times Group, reward excellence in wealth management among banks from the Americas, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa, based on qualitative and quantitative criteria.

    The winners were announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Park Lane, London, with Busola Jejelowo, Head, Wealth and Investment, Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Limited, representing Stanbic IBTC.

    Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, at the weekend, won the Signum Virtutis (Seal of Excellence) award in the Hotels and Resorts Category of the 2016 Seven Stars Global Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards.

  • LOYALTY IN GOVERNANCE AWARD HONOURS AMBODE, OTHERS

    MARITIME Media Limited, organisers of the Loyalty in Governance Award have announced winners in the second edition of the reward system.

    In all, six state governors, one from each of the six geopolitical zones emerged. They are Governor Akinwunmi Ambode (South-west), Governor Nyesom Wike (South-south), Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi (South-East), Governor Nasir ElRufia (North-west), Governor Kassim shettima (North-east) and Governor Abdul-fatai Ahmed (North-east).

    Governor Ambode was honoured for his pioneering effort to lighting up, improving security in the state, putting Lagos in the global map as an oil producing state; introducing a 25billion naira citizens empowerment fund, among other landmark achievements.

    Governor Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna State is also being honoured for his outstanding leadership style in the state. The 10,000 trees to keep Kaduna green, the war against illegal structures, the mandatory issuance of building plans and C of O for structure in Kaduna and his impartial enquiry into the Army/Shitteclash endeared him into our team of researchers, thus making him one of the shinning lights in our present democratic experience.

    In Enugu, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi has endeared himself to his people with 30% equity contribution to the civil servants housing scheme and the purchase of no fewer than 100 units of one bedroom flats at Elim Estate and 155million naira approved for rural electrification.

    In yet other categories, the Dangote Group emerged as “Nigeria’s Corporate Brand of the Year” in appreciation of its huge investment in the world’s biggest oil refinery in Lagos with a 650bpd refining capacity.

    Other winners of the award are the speaker of the House of Rerpresentatives Rt Hn YakubuDogara and Babatunde Fowler who was voted the “Most Outstanding Chief Executive of the Year” Held every four years, organizers say that the Loyalty in Governance Award is predicated on the need to reward loyalty and governance, deepen our current democratic experience, honour deserving Nigerians and corporate bodies for their contribution to the stability, unity and growth of our country.

  • WIMBIZ wins 10,000 Euros Empower Women Award

    The Women in Management, Business and Public Service (popularly known as WIMBIZ) has been named the winner of the 2016 AXA Empower Women Contest. The group won the 10,000 Euros as the cash prize for the contest.

    The contest is one of the numerous women-focused initiatives by AXA Mansard Insurance, a leading non-bank financial service group.

    The contest was borne out of the need to empower women entrepreneurs across the AXA Emerging Markets EMEA-LATAM region, to grow and succeed in their businesses to care for and protect their families and ultimately impact the economies of their various countries.

    To celebrate the International Women’s Day, a call was made from AXA to employees within the region to nominate Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) sponsored projects benefiting women in the community for the ‘Empower Women’ regional contest.

    The winning project, WIMBIZ Capacity Building Project (WIMCAP) was one of the entries submitted by AXA Mansard. WIMCAP is designed to equip women entrepreneurs in Nigeria with the skills and tools for building sustainable businesses that will create jobs and attract investment.

    Speaking at the award presentation, the Chairperson, Executive Council of WIMBIZ, Aishah Ahmad, said: “We are grateful to AXA for the recognition and funds as we strive to positively impact the Nigerian woman”.

    She added: “Over the years, a recurring challenge among women in Nigeria has been how businesses headed by women would gain access to finance, especially at startups. To solve this challenge, WIMBIZ developed WIMCAP to equip female entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge to grow their businesses in a sustainable manner.”

    According to her, WIMBIZ has over 5,000 women on its database and has impacted over 20,000 women through its various programmes.

    STELLA DAMASUS WINS LEAD ACTRESS DIASPORA AWARD

    POPULAR Nollywood actress Stella Damasus, who is presently residing abroad was honoured with the award for Lead Actress Diaspora at the African Culture Image Awards (ACI) 2016 held recently.

    The actress, clinched the award for the role she played in ‘Affairs of the heart’, beating the likes of Lola Alao, Ranti Alore, Laide Bakare, Doris Simeon, Lola Faduri, Toyin Ogundipe, Mistura Asunramu, and Bukky Bello.

    Appreciating the new addition to her collection, she stated: “Special thanks to my executive producer Neville Sajere of Nevada Bridge Productions, my amazing director Robert Peters, giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a great film Affairs Of The Heart. To the organizers of the award, I say thank you and God bless you for honoring me”.

    Stella, who recently released her first ever studio album, ‘The Alternative in April, also a known lover of all things concerning hair, recently started writing an article for Hair’Volution (an online hair magazine).
