BBNaija: Housemates battle to avoid eviction

As the eviction night draws closer, the housemates in the Big Brother Naija House are doing all they could to remain in the house, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Head of House, ThinTallTony had a pep talk with his fellow Housemates about being cautious in the use of household items.

A tearful, Debie-Rise and TBoss had a heart to heart talk about cliques and how disrespectful and inconsiderate some of the Housemates are.

The `task for the day saw the housemates doing all sorts of crazy things as Kemen had his face painted and Bassey licked Marvis’ fingers.

While TBoss and Debie-Rise immediately changed the conversation when Marvis arrived, Bally and Uriel thought there was no obvious weak link on Big Brother Naija and that several people might be evicted.

TBoss had accused ThinTallTont and Bisola of trying to make her a “”pawn’’ in their game.

Earlier, popular Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun known as A.Y. visited the housemates.

During his conversion with them, he encouraged them to use their participation in the game show as a platform to move to the next level.

A.Y. narrated his journey to stardom in the Nigerian entertainment industry as Personal Assistant to the King of Comedy, Ali Baba to becoming a movie producer and actor.

He also narrated the success of his first movie “30 Days in Atalanta’’, “A Trip to Jamiaca and the recently releases “’10 Days in Sun City’’.

The comedian stressed the need for the housemates to use the show as a platform to move high in the area of endeavour.

Meanwhile, popular Nigerian Rhythms and Blues singer, Bankole Wallington also known as Banky W will perform live at the eviction this Sunday.

Similarly, Kentalky will be in the wheel of steels at the Saturday Night Party for the housemates. (NAN)

  • BBNaija: Seven housemates on edge, three get immunity from eviction

BBNaija: Seven housemates on edge, three get immunity from eviction

There is palpable tension in the Big Brother Naija house after controversial housemate, ThinTallTony, secured immunity from this week’s eviction after beating other contenders in all the keenly contested Head of House tasks on Monday.

Following last Sunday’s all-inclusive nomination, eight housemates were subjected to a series of contests as parts of the routine to select a new Head of HAouse. Marvis, TBoss and ThinTallTony were the three housemates who made it to the final in the HoH contest, after scaling through a series of contests.

In the final contest, the trio was required to deflate several balloons with their bums in order to find a mystery paper that will give the mandate to the would-be HoH housemate. The only male housemate in the final contest, ThinTallTony ultimately emerged winner; thereby joining Bisola and Bally who are immune from nomination come Sunday’s eviction show. The seven housemates that will slug it out in Sunday’s eviction show are Uriel, TBoss, Marvis, Kemen, Efe, Bassey and Debbie-Rise.

Meanwhile, the eight housemates including ThinTallTony still believe that the road to winning the coveted 25 million naira and SUV has become narrower as two of the most popular housemates are supposedly out of the race.

As the new HoH assumes his throne in a triumphant manner, he is immune from eviction, but does not wield the power to save or nominate any housemate from eviction. As the BBNaija draws inexorably towards the end, more mysteries have continued to unfold and no one knows what Biggie has up his sleeve.

•As Jon, Ese make smooth exit

The tension was not too intense in this week’s supposed ejection from the Big Brother Naija show, as no particular housemates were marked for possible eviction. Even when Bally and Ese were called out by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the others housemates were hopeful about their return. “Guys you’re coming back. It’s a lie…,” said Uriel, even as others nodded their heads in agreement.
No real eviction took place because Biggie had cancelled the nominations after some housemates broke the rules by conspiring against others for nomination. It was the same positive feeling when Bisola and Jon were sent to the arena.
The twist ended with a fantastic game and holiday for two in Paradise. It happened that only the two fake housemates- Ese and Jon – were out via an easy exit that left no room for suspicion.
Recall that Bally and Bisola had immunity from their previous tasks in the house.
While Bally had discovered the green card which he held on to in the last two weeks, Bisola’s immunity came via last week’s eviction show game that had her playing alongside Bassey and TBoss. Bisola got her question correctly and was immuned from nomination. Bassey got his question correctly too, and enjoyed a traditional dish of his choice. TBoss however missed her question and had to wash the dishes for the entire week.
As Jon and Ese made their ways out of the holding room, Bisola, who had bonded well with, especially the latter, got emotional, while Bally looked confused.
For the other eight housemates, Ebuka called them to the arena for a nomination game. There were 30 envelopes on the table from which housemates were asked to pick one. They were all unlucky, and are up for possible eviction next week: Bassey, TBoss, Efe, Marvis, Debbie-Rise, Kemen,  ThinTallTony and Uriel. However, only the would-be Head of House, after tomorrow’s task will be immuned for possible eviction. Unlike before, Biggie has ruled that the Head of House’s power cannot save or replace any housemate.
While Jon and Ese joined Ebuka on stage, the host described them both as the ‘best fake housemates’ in the history of the show.
Jon said that the fact that the game looked like he was there to take over from Miyonse, who had been evicted earlier, made it difficult for him to hatch his plan against TBoss.
Blindfolded, Bally and Bisola were led to their surprised vacation abode by two ninjas. Biggie said they will be in that juicy isolation for a couple of days.
On who might win the show, he said, “I used to think it would be Efe, but now it looks like it might be ThinTallTony.”
For Ese: “I think it’s between ThinTallTony and Bisola,” she said.
Just before the mock eviction show, Nigerian songstress, Emma Chukwugoziam Obi, aka Emma Nyra sang her popular dance hall/reggae influenced song, ‘Drop It’. Her performance was followed after a short interval, by that of the earlier advertised sonorous singer, Simi, who serenaded the crowd with ‘Love Don’t Care. When she returned for her second performance, Simi took the show higher with her mid-tempo afro pop song, ‘Jamb Question’.
The next eviction show holds on Sunday, March 5. And viewers in Nigeria are expected to text the word “Vote” followed by their preferred housemate’s name to 32052. While for the rest of Africa, fans are told to follow the AfricaMagictv official account on WeChat and click on the menu option ‘BBNaija’ and select their preferred housemate. Voting will open at 21h00 WAT on Monday, February 27 and will close at 20h00 WAT on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Sponsored by online retail store, PayPorte, the show is aired 24/7 in 45 countries from Nigeria through East, West and Southern Africa on all DStv packages on channel 198 and GOtv channel 29.

  • #BBNaija: Singer Simi visit housemates

    …As ThinTallTony escapes eviction
Nigerian singer Simi, paid a visit to the #BBNaija housemates on Monday, after her sterling performance at the eviction show on Sunday.

She was welcomed by the housemates with a dance routine they earlier rehearsed from one of her song titled, ‘#Pardonmypun’.

Simi also visited Bisola and Bally in a Maldives inspired vacation destination.

The housemates took turns to share their dreams and aspirations at the end of their stay in the house with the singer.

Housemates also took turns for a selfie with the “JAMB Question” crooner before her departure.

Meanwhile, ThinTallTony (TTT) has emerged head of the house (HoH) for this week and will not be needing viewer’s vote to stay in the house this week.

There has been series of scrutiny of TTT’s behaviour in the #BBNaija House by viewers, many were awaiting when he will be put up for eviction.

It would be recalled that all the housemates were put up for possible eviction, while the weekly nomination exercise was also cancelled and replaced by the Head of house task where the winner would receive automatic immunity from eviction.

During the tasks, Marvis, Tboss and ThinTallTony made it to the final stage.

However, TTT emerged winner following a game of balloon popping.

  • BBNaija: The flip side simpleton

    BBNaija: The flip side simpleton

FOR a show that has received so much mixed reactions, this week’s task has done a lot to improve the perception of housemates by viewers.

Recall that lately, the social media has been buzzing with negative commentaries on how the show promotes pornography and indecent behaviour and calling housemates simpletons for being willing tools in the hands of Biggie. These views came on the heels of housemates’ self-imposed games of ‘Truth or Dare’ and ‘Confession’ as well as ‘Kissing Festival’, which have forced viewers to think less of their artistry but more of amorousness.

However, the housemates are from diverse professional backgrounds and have displayed various forms of intelligence during the course of the show. A case in point was during last week’s eviction show when three housemates – Bisola, Bassey and TBoss – were called out to play the eviction game. Mouth-watering cash prizes were up for grabs and not so good reward for the loser. While Bisola and Bassey answered their questions correctly, TBoss was not so successful and was saddled with washing the dishes in the house for one week.

It may not have been a deliberate plan by the organizers of the show but it seems all the housemates have one form of talent or the other for the entertainment industry, including music, dance, stage play, movies and production. In as much as they entertain themselves with the many games they play aside from the tasks give them by Big Brother, they are not brainless simpletons as some people think.

It was another week of eye-popping, seat-grabbing and brain-teasing actions by housemates as they both individually and collectively displayed their awesome talents in the task given to them by Biggie. They wagered 100 percent and at the end of the task, Biggie applauded their efforts and gave housemates a triple ‘A’ rating. They also won their 100 percent wager.

The task demanded that housemates create two separate shows: a dance drama and a mini music performance by four different groups. Perhaps the housemate took Bassey’s admonitions after they lost their last wager, that being creative people, they should bring their creativity to bear when tackling their tasks. It became obvious that Bassey’s wise counsel was taken seriously from the kind of show they put up.

The dance drama was choreographed by TallThinTony who himself is a professional dancer. Everyone brought out their A-game to the delight of viewers and approval of Biggie. The songs were original and written by housemates. In summary, the drama depicted the struggles one faces in life when climbing the success ladder and the various challenges faced whether from family, the society or even one’s self. TBoss played the lead character and for a Business Development Officer, she gave a good account of herself. She played the role of a young talented artiste who wanted to pursue her dreams of being the next Pablo Picasso but got a lot of resistance from her father, her friends and even her community. They all asked her to stop wasting her time and get married so she could begin to make babies.

She left her village for the city but several years down the line, she returned. As a successful artiste and everyone including her father who destroyed her first artwork came out to celebrate her success.

Tonight, at least one housemate will be evicted from the house. Tension in the house heightened because Biggie annulled the nomination votes last week and will nominate those that will be up for eviction.

Indeed, Big Brother Naija is a show that not only celebrates the winner and gives him/her fame; it also provides a launch-pad for other housemates to explore their areas of interests enhanced by the myriad of experiences garnered during the course of the show.

#BBNaija Day 31: I was suicidal, says Comic actor Ibu

Nollywood comic star, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu said he was suicidal before attaining his present celebrity status.

Ibu , the fifth Nigerian celebrity visiting the #BBNaija housemates on Day 31, narrated his experience during the dairy session with `Biggie’ in the Diary Room.

The comic actor said he `nearly’ committed suicide during “his struggles in life.”

“Do you know that there was a day I prepared to kill myself in Ajao Estate; that day I was preparing to jump into a well because of the situation that surrounded me.

“Three days before that day, I had not eaten and I did not have hope of eating for the next week; I was only surviving on water and I hate it when I bother anyone.

“Most of my close friends were not bothered about my well-being even though it was obvious that I was not alright,’’

“The friend I used to squat with threw me out of his house because he wanted to travel for Christmas and will not allow me stay in his house.

“From where I seated, there was a well; as I opened the lid and prepared to jump inside, the image of my mother face flashed through my mind.

“I quickly closed the well and began to wonder how my mother who at that time was alive knew that I wanted to kill myself; I went back and leaned on the wall,’’ Ibu said.

Mr Ibu during the diary session with `Biggie’ in #BBNaija

According to him, the song, “When I got my feet back again’’ by Michael Bolton being played by a neigbour gave him hope and he decided to stay alive.

He said, “One of my friends, Frank came back from London; he gave me a flat in his flat; he started taking me out and buying clothes for me; it was from there I got my footing.’’

Earlier, while interacting with the housemates, the funny actor informed them that he had been watching the game back home and admonished them to be humble.

He said he was proud to be a Nigerian and gave them advice that could enhance their acts after leaving the house.

“As soon as you come back from there, follow it up; don’t stop, engage yourselves in movies, musical or anything that keeps you prominent, like being consistence in the game of awareness.

“Our country Nigeria is a fine country; we are giant of Africa,’’ Ibu stressed.

The housemates who were excited to see him, took part in a “selfie’’ session with Ibu before his exist from the house.

NAN also reports that Ibu has joined other Nigerian entertainers like Emmanuel Ikubese, Mr Nigeria; Falz the bad guy and Ice Price who had earlier visited the house. (NAN)
