#BBNaija: Day 30, Housemates battle fear, superstition, phobia

Following cancellation of the week-five nominations for eviction, Big Brother, also known as `Biggie’ and owner of the #BBNaija house, introduced superstitions and phobia as the theme for the task for the housemates.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that little did the housemates know that Biggie would add a twist to the task by asking them to eat “irregular” food in order for him not to reveal those secrets.

Before the commencement of the eating task, Biggie warned the Housemates that should they opt not to eat what was on their plate, they would be at his mercy and he could choose to reveal their secrets.

Consequently, to avoid being exposed, the housemates took turns to eat in a true fear factor style the plates of food containing spaghetti, mince meat, chicken and beef containing blood.

Marvis, Jon, Efe, Ese, Kemen and Bisola took turns to eat the “disgusting” meals prepared for them.

    Efe chews Biggie’s “meal”

Bassey would rather eat the food than have his secret in the open, Debie-Rise contemplated her secret and followed Bassey to eat at the table.

Uriel could not watch Marvis chowed down her food to keeping her secret safe.

When Efe struggled to finish his food, Biggie told him to take a sip of water and continue stressing that “Efe’s secret is safe.’’

Kemen, Head of the House (HoH) also opted to keep his secret safe and chewed down his food while Bisola prayed for strength as she struggled to keep her food down.

All the #BBNaija housemates struggled with the challenge except for ThinTallTony who ate his meal with pleasure to the extent of licking his plate clean.

When all the Housemates had completed the challenge, Kemen appealed to Biggie to give TBoss who threw up earlier another chance.

After much consideration from Biggie, the request was granted.

TBoss went through the challenge with tears in her eyes, gagging and drinking water at every chance she could get.

Cheering her on was ThinTallTony. She completed the challenge eventually and Biggie congratulated the Housemates for completing the challenge.(NAN)

BBNaija updates: Housemates discuss love, domestic issues

After gagging on Biggie’s nauseating mixtures of food to keep their secrets safe during Tuesday evening’s task, the Housemates quickly settled back into their routine, sharing stories and life experiences and this formed part of their midnight chat.

The discussion went from courting to cheating, domestic violence and further onto X-rated material, all this happened while Head of House (HOH) Kemen was locked in solitude in the Isolation Booth. This was his (and Marvin’s) punishment for breaching the conspiracy rule.

Bassey noted that love is a controversial topic. “No matter how you approach it. When you say something, you should back it up with experience,” he said. Jon was quick to add that honesty is the best policy.

The conversation quickly moved to the issue of cheating in relationships. “If you must clear your conversation on your phone that is cheating!” yelled Ese. Bally admitted to have had messages that caused wahala in his past relationships. “But it’s not every message that will cause problems in relationships,” he said.

That aspect of the conversation lost track too, as they moved on to discuss domestic violence, with some of them sharing how they had seen other people suffer in the hands of their partners.

    Kemen’s regimented troops

Day three into the reign of the new Head of House Kemen, and it seems the House and all its inhabitants have been whipped into shape and are manning their respective posts accordingly.

King Kemen has aptly divided the House into sections, with every Housemate assigned specific daily chores. Some of the Housemates are regimented into cleaning the House, while the other group have been regimented to kitchen duties.

The Housemates have doggedly taken to their assigned Tasks with Igwe Kemen joining in, not only the kitchen duties but also assisting in the cleaning duties.

    What is Uriel up to?

Uriel friend-zones Kemen, now she says she finds him attractive. Poor Kemen, he lusted after Uriel for such a long time and she told Biggie and anyone who would listen that she thought of him only as a brother.

She repeatedly told him that she wanted only to be friends. So much so, that he turned his attentions and affections to others in the House, especially TBoss.

With his recent win in the Friday Night Arena Games and his success in the Head of House Challenge, suddenly he seemed to be a much more attractive option for our local drama queen and she revealed to him yesterday evening that “I find you attractive.” She did add that “At first I didn’t,” but later added “I think you are a cool guy, I do like you.” So, no mixed messages there, then.

She went on to say that he was showing characteristics that she liked, and even admired in his leadership style. She then added “I’m not saying I want a boyfriend or anything…” but she did leave her sentence hanging in thin air for Kemen to make of it what he wills.

Is she suddenly interested in him as it appeared to her that his star had suddenly started to rise, with the sudden turn in good fortune for the much-maligned muscleman from Port Harcourt? Are we seeing a strategic move by Uriel as the Housemates carried on jockeying for positions of power in the House? With Efe and Marvis being such a powerful force in the House, is Uriel trying to get her own power couple going to get her further in the game?

As this game continues with its twists and turns, is this a clever move by Uriel, and how will Kemen react to this sudden show of affection from someone who previously was so obviously not interested. Will he be wise to her attempts at baiting him in? With everything happening so fast in Biggie’s House, only time will tell if this is a wise move by Uriel.

  • BBNaija: Beyond the coveted prize of N25 million and an SUV

BBNaija: Beyond the coveted prize of N25 million and an SUV

Going by the current happenings in the Big Brother Naija House where about nine housemates are now slugging it out for the ultimate prize of N25million and a brand new SUV, it appears Nigeria may be in the process of unearthing yet another set of talent. From the enviable fitness skills of Kemen and Bassey, to the creative skills of ThinTallTony, Debbie Rise, and Efe; to talented entertainers, singers, and models such as TBoss, Bisola, and Uriel, entertainment should expect great stuff from these housemates in years to come. The BBN house currently serves one of the best reality dramas that has got fans to head online to air their views and also make their votes count, despite pressing socio-economic challenges.
Hosted in faraway South Africa, there are strong indications that the Nigerian entertainment space has opened up its doors to a wider viewing public, thereby showcasing some of the country’s budding talent who now have greater chances of success even beyond the ultimate prize of N25m. Without doubt, the show has continued to generate a high rate of talkability among the youth who are constantly airing their views on the character of the housemates. So far, the show has reportedly gained optimal visibility both in the mainstream and online media, drawing more than four million viewers.
The voting pattern has been influenced by the roles of the housemates in the house, their character and how good they are playing the game. For example, the theme of love, which was actively played out by characters such as TBoss, Miyonse, Marvis, Efe, among others, earned Miyonse the nickname, ‘lover boy’. While majority of the comments were criticism of Miyonse for allowing TBoss manipulate him, a few others commended him for being man enough to beat older male contenders and win TBoss’ affection.
Their love however turned sour when Gifty openly made advances towards Miyonse, a move which infuriated TBoss, and eventually led to her decision to nominate Miyonse for eviction. The voting public, who were already averse to Miyonse’s unresponsiveness, did not waste time in sending him home. During his interview with Ebuka, Miyonse said that his rivals in the house nominated him for eviction out of envy. It however came as a rude shock when the host told him he was nominated by his love interest, TBoss. It will be interesting to know the dimension their relationship will take after the show.
It was a different story for Soma, who from social media commentaries did not play a major role in the drama in the house, although he became more involved almost immediately he was up for eviction. For the up and coming songstress, CoCoIce, she was an embattled housemate who was not totally accepted by other housemates despite her sustained efforts to save herself from eviction.
However, despite the eviction of the trio of Soma, Miyonse and CocoIce, it is interesting to know that their fame and fortune have continued to grow by the day. On Valentine’s Day, Mr. Nigeria, Emmanuel Ikubuese, among many other celebrities, paid a surprise visit to the housemates and shared his experience on how he tried to get into the house, but was unsuccessful, a move which informed his decision to go for Mr. Nigeria competition which he won in 2014. He advised the housemates to look beyond the ultimate prize and utilize the platform to launch their careers, noting that they are stars and Africa is watching them.
Being evicted from the house is definitely not the end of the road for Soma, Miyonse and CocoIce. Since their eviction and arrival in Nigeria, the housemates have had meet and greet sessions. The duo of Soma and Miyonse met with the management of Payporte, Indomie Noodles and Nigerian Breweries, all sponsors of the Big Brother Naija show. The first female housemate to leave the house, CocoIce, since her arrival in Nigeria has granted several radio interviews and is currently being sought after by the media.
Ironically, the first male evictee from the house became the first housemate to land a major deal as a fashion ambassador for leading online store, PayPorte, the headline sponsor of the BBN show. Soma joins the likes of Tayo Faniran who was also a Big Brother Africa housemate, now the brand ambassador of PayPorte. It appears this is the winning season for Soma as the model cum singer may have won the heart of Africa Magic Viewers Choice award winner, Funke Akindele, a fan of BBN. Reports available online also show that Soma may have earned a role in the comedy series, ‘Jenifa’s Diary’. It appears the dividends of fame have already started paying off for Somadina Anyama.
The housemates’ fame has continued to grow as more brands are showing interest in identifying with them. The latest is the collaboration between Bold Magazine and DStv Nigeria to feature all the contestants on a weekly basis. The

  • BBNaija: Who speaks better English?

    BBNaija: Who speaks better English?

Shortly after breakfast a few of the Housemates sat around the dining table discussing immunisations and vaccinations, and suddenly, the conversation took a turn and became an English-language lecture.

ThinTallTony and Jon decided it was best to correct fellow Housemate Efe’s use and pronunciations of the English language and what ensued was a back and forth highlighting the different pronunciations of words from the British and the American perspective, with Efe quickly adding his ‘Nigerian’ perspective to the mix.

    [news_list display=”tag” tag=”BBNaija” count=”2″ show_more=”on” show_more_type=”link”]

With words like ‘develop’ and ‘development’ being used as yardsticks, Efe remained very adamant that as a Nigerian, he didn’t see the need to change the way he spoke to suit others as the English language wasn’t his original mother tongue; citing the differences between the British English and the American English and the way it was spoken.

He quickly added that if the Americans could change the way they spoke, even though they migrated from the British, then he saw no reason why he should change his pronunciations to accommodate the respective accents. He ended his argument by adding that “if you can understand what I am trying to say, then I don’t see what the problem is”.

BBNaija: Show ends for controversial Gifty

Gifty, the fair-skinned contestant who narrowly escaped ejection from the ongoing Big Brother Naija house last week, being the housemate with the least number of votes after CocoIce, the last evictee, could not pull it through this time.
The test of popularity vote was between her, Marvis and ThinTall Tony. It however came as a surprise to many that Thin Tall Tony came second, as the anxiety was between the fans of Gifty and Marvis, with the latter’s additional strength, seemingly coming from the fans of her close allies within the competition.
Gifty’s dream of N25 million and a brand new Kia Seranto car, being the coveted prize for the would-be winner ended exactly four weeks into the competition. She was also the fourth housemate and second female to be shown the door so far.
It was her third time of being put up for possible eviction, although the first was a mock exercise. As for Marvis, who enjoys the soft spot of her gang, her two-time nomination was at the instance of Head of House’s veto to save one housemate of their choice and replace with another.
With Gifty’s exit, the number of the remaining housemates is10, although Biggie had introduced two fake housemates; Jon and Ese, who are not playing for votes or the prize.
Joining the host of the show, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on stage, Gifty said it was fun, challenging and romantic being in the house. She said she liked the guys as brothers despite her romantic attachment to them. On her passion for power and fame, she said she could achieve them by wisdom and ‘doing the right thing’. she thought that TTT, Bisola and TBoss might have nominated her for eviction. She was surprised Kemen and Efe nominated her. On whether she was a hair dresser before, she said she acquired the skill by watching people do it.
The latest evictee is the most controversial housemate, going by certain traits for which viewers and her fellow housemates have classified her as ‘fake’. They range from her inconsistent accent, hopping from one male housemate to another and lack of a special skill like most of the housemates.
She also caught the ire of viewers recently when she claimed not to know comic rapper and rave-of-the-moment Falz the Bahd Guy, and Banky W, when both artistes visited the house at different times, adding that she didn’t like Banky W, as she felt he was proud and full of himself.
Gifty is said to have schooled in Accra, Ghana and returned to Lagos to make her dreams happen. She has featured in a few Nollywood movies, shot by her supposed husband and film director, David Sorochukwu Akumah. Reports say she walked out of her marriage few months after.
Ice Prince who performed at the eviction show sang ‘Boss’ and ‘No Mind Them’ the two times he showed up on stage. The send he performed with Vanessa Mdee.
The twist this week was a question game that had Bisola, Bassey and TBoss playing before Ebuka on stage. Bisola got her question correctly and is immuned from nomination for possible eviction in the coming week. Bassey got his question correctly too, and will enjoy a traditional dish of his choice. TBoss however missed her question and would have to wash the dishes.
The next eviction show holds on Sunday, February 26. And viewers in Nigeria are expected to text the word “Vote” followed by their preferred housemate’s name to 32052. While for the rest of Africa, fans are told to follow the AfricaMagictv official account on WeChat and click on the menu option ‘BBNaija’ and select their preferred housemate. Voting will open at 21h00 WAT on Monday, February 20 and will close at 20h00 WAT on Saturday, February 25.
Sponsored by online retail store, PayPorte, the show is aired 24/7 in 45 countries from Nigeria through East, West and Southern Africa on all DStv packages on channel 198 and GOtv channel 29.

#BBNaija:TTTony claims singlehood, pictures of wife, kids go viral

Hours after ThinTallTony (TTT), one of the housemate who survived eviction from the #BBNaija told Bisola, a fellow housemate he was single , pictures of his family went viral on the internet.

The family pictures uploaded from his Facebook page showed that TTT is married to Laraba Audi Offiong and blessed with two adorable children.

TTT and Bisola have been getting cozy with each other for some days now and they have confessed to having feelings for each other, although it seems Bisola doesn’t know TTT is married as he never mentioned it.

Bisola had inquired about his marital status and he replied that he is single by God’s grace, thus presenting himself as an unmarried man.

This has evoked reactions from Nigerians as they feel he is deceiving Bisola and has hurt his wife.

Meanwhile, ThinTallTony’s wife continues to campaign for him even as he survived the Sunday eviction on her Instagram clearly indicating that he is married.
    Here are some of the tweets;

@claranichole, “TTT, who are you deceiving, Bisola or God?’’

@K_mahlodi, “Bisola better not be falling for TTT, #team bisola please don’t vote for TTT when he is up for eviction. He is playing with our girl.’’

@bchild11, “for 25 million, someone would deny his family…. Ok na…”

@Bestee_licious,“TTT you were expecting video message, how will you explain to Bisola when your family pops on screen?!’’

@phabulous_phabs, “I have a feeling Bisola will stab TTT when she finds out about TTT being a family man.’’
@Olurops, “Who will help us tell Bisola that TTT is a liar.’’

The struggle for 25 million naira and a KIA Sorento toughens as the housemates await nominations today. (NAN)

BBNaija updates: Fears, phobias and superstitions

It was another diary session for Ese as she received a brief from Biggie for the Housemates.

With the Evictions Show out of the way and the dawning of a new week, Biggie felt that the Housemates will need to face some difficult Tasks that will surely push them to levels of disgust and test the bonds amongst the Housemates.

The theme for this week’s Tasks will be centred around fears, phobias and superstitions and the Housemates have been instructed by Biggie to collectively agree on how much of their weekly BBNaira allowances they are willing to commit to the satisfactory completion of the Tasks.

Buoyed by the fact that they had won 100% of their wager last week, the Housemates collectively toyed with the idea of wagering 100% again towards this week’s Tasks, even though some of them seemed a bit concerned with their personal phobias and how they would react if Big Brother made them confront their fears, with Uriel and TBoss threatening to pee themselves should this happen.

This week is shaping to be a mind boggling one so far as the Housemates try not to focus too much on the complexities of the Tasks ahead, but rather on being there for each other to ensure they score another 100% win come Task Presentation day on Thursday.

  • Fake housemates shake BBNaija house

IT came as a surprise to everyone when, during the live eviction show, Big Brother again introduced two new housemates Jon and Ese. However, there is a twist; they are both fake housemates!

In last Saturday’s party, housemates may have been a little tipsy from all the alcohol supplied by Biggie. This emboldened them to again embark on the ‘Truth or Dare’ game that require them to tell that truth about a question asked or dare them to do something crazy.

This time around, CoCoIce who was eventually evicted was dared and without wasting much time, she unzipped her dress and proceeded to respond to the dare.

According to the producers, Ese and Jon’s mission is to create even more drama and give housemates a run for the N25 million prize money. Unknown to them, the new guys are not in the game for the ultimate prize; they are there to infuse confusion and possibly evoke deeper emotions from other housemates.

During the diary session with housemates, Biggie asked what they thought about the new housemates. It was a unanimous view that Ese is giving Bisola a run for her money on who the loudest housemate is. Winning the task of the week and getting the Head of House title made it an arduous task for anyone to relegate Ese, who is beginning to hold sway. Ese herself has been quite assertive and playing the game with gusto. She is surely one of the ladies to look out for.

As for the guys, it is obvious that cute Jon is a threat. Although he assured Ebuka he was not going to be another ‘Miyonse’, he is already very close to TBoss.

Meanwhile, Biggie has outlined a number of tasks for Jon that are to be done secretly. Love is in the air and so his first task was to get all the men to give the ladies lovely Valentine treats, including breakfast in bed before the early morning workout bell goes.
