Bosso tips  Flying Eagles to beat Senegal

    • From Onyewuchi Nwachukwu, Accra

Head coach of the Flying Eagles, Ladan Bosso, has stated that Senegal will not stop his team from progressing to the semi-finals of the men’s football event of the 13th  African Games in Ghana.

Bosso was making this declaration ahead of Nigeria’s final group match which will be decided at the Accra Sports Stadium at 8pm tonight.

Both Nigeria and Senegal have the same three points going into tonight’s encounter which means that a win for any of the two teams will see them qualify for the semi finals.

The Flying Eagles were beaten 2-1 by Uganda who are already through to the last four and bounced back in their second match to defeat South Sudan 1-0 last Monday.

Bosso believes that Senegal are beatable as long as his players continue to improve on the mistakes they made in their last two matches especially in the area of converting their chances in front of goal .

“Senegal are beatable and I have no doubt about that. Like I said earlier, the more time we spend together, the better the team will get.

“We will continue to work towards building a team that everyone will be proud of against Senegal” Bosso assured

He however admitted that the hard fought 1-0 win his team secured against South Sudan acted like a motivating factor ahead of tonight’s cracker against Senegal.

“The three points we got against South Sudan was like a motivating factor because we would have been bundled out of the tournament if we had lost that game” he added.

Bosso gives reasons for El Kanemi exit

Coach Ladan Bosso has revealed that his decision not to renew his contact with El Kanemi Warriors was necessitated by better offers he received from other clubs.
Bosso left the Borno Army on a mutual agreement after the expiration of his two years contract with the Northern-based outfit.
“My contract with El Kanemi has ended and I want a new challenge. I have received new offers I couldn’t turn down. I told the club’s chairman my intention to leave immediately after the end of the season and it was with a mutual agreement.
“I always carried the club along in anything I am doing. I have submitted my car key and the key to my house to the chairman and I also gave the club two copies of my report of what transpired at the just concluded season. But let it be on record that the club is still owing me 22 match bonuses,” Bosso said to SportingLife.
The former Flying Eagles coach, who joined the Maiduguri-based outfit in the 2014/15 season, said he is satisfied with his achievements with the club.
The club finished sixth on the log at the just concluded season, an improvement from their 8th position in his first season when he arrived from Abia Warriors to take over from late Kelechi Emeteole.
“I have built a team for the club which will make things easy for any coach that will take over the club. I joined the club when the team was still struggling in the league and I left a strong team with young players for them.
“My two seasons with El Kanemi was glorious. Even the State Governor appreciated my efforts with the club last weekend. They were battling relegation when I joined but in the last two seasons, they ended the season comfortably. Even, at a time this season we were contender for the league title. This is my first time I stayed with a club for more than a season in the league and it is time for me to move on.”

Bosso faults NFF criteria for national teams recruitment

Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA) has frown at the criteria and standard used by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the employment of new coaches to the vacant national team jobs.
NFF had advertised that the interested applicants should apply for the national teams coaching job with U-17, U20, U23 male and female categories, with at least CAF C license certificates as minimum requirements.
But the association president, Ladan Bosso said the criteria requested by the NFF for the vacant jobs are too low.
“We have categories of national teams; so also we have categories of coaches in this country too – that is the standard all over the world. So we will advise the NFF through the technical Committee that they should categorize the coaches according to the national teams’ categories,” Bosso told
    .
“We have over 150 coaches with CAF B license in the country and we have over 300 coaches with CAF C license while we have 45 coaches with CAF A license. So therefore, we expected that the applicants for the head coach of the U-17, U-20 and U-23 must possess CAF A license while their assistants should have at least CAF B licenses.
“The assistants’ coaches of the U-20 and U17 should possess CAF B and C licenses respectively with vast experiences. We as an association ready to accept responsibility for the coaches’ performances good or bad if the NFF yield to our advice.”

Bosso lauds NFF over payment of coaches’ salaries

President of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association Ladan Bosso has heaped praises on the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for offsetting all outstanding salaries of past and present National team coaches.

The Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr and 28 other national team coaches were paid all their outstanding wages.

The El Kanemi Warriors technical adviser believes that the gesture will motivate Nigerian coaches to do more for the national team while he urged his colleagues to reciprocate the gesture with more dedication and commitment.

“We must appreciate the NFF board under Amaju Pinnick. What they have just done is unprecedented in the history of Nigeria football. They paid 28 coaches in all; present and past coaches. That is a massive achievement that deserves commendation from all stakeholders,” Bosso said.

He added: “LMC should emulate what NFF has done to ensure that club owners pay all their coaches as at when due. When coaches receive their salaries regularly it will go a long way in eradicating corrupt practices in the coaching business. I thereby warned my colleagues to appreciate this gesture from the NFF and any allegations of corrupt practices against any coach would not be accepted by the association. It might force us to seize coaching license of any coach found wanting of corrupt practices.”

    Bosso relishes win at Warriors

El KanemiWarriors head coach Ladan Bosso is excited to have claimed his first away win of the season at former side Abia Warriors.

Bosso said the experience he garnered in his sojourn with the Umuahia Warriors helped him greatly to subdue his former side.

“We planned and worked very hard for the match and it paid off quite well to hand us our first win on the road.

“It’s always good for a coach to have a good idea and knowledge of his opponents.

“Of course, the two-season sojourn with the side helped us greatly.

“I saw their lineup and I knew what to do and the pattern I adopted worked really well.

“I believe we can build on the victory to go for more victories in other away matches.

“We have proven we can hold firm on our home ground as well as go outside to win matches,” said the former Bayelsa United and Kano Pillars coach to supersport.com.

CAF A LICENSE COACHING COURSE: No coach failed, says Bosso

VICE PRESIDENT of the Nigerian Coaches’ Association (NCA), Isa Ladan Bosso, has denied media report that top Nigerian national coaches failed the CAF A Coaching License course recently concluded at the FIFA Goal Project, Package B of the National Stadium Abuja.

Bosso admitted that out of the 45 coaches registered for the course, two coaches could not finish because they missed key aspect of the programme.

In a chat with SportingLife, El kanemi Warrior’s technical adviser said the course was evaluation of coaches and not examination.

“There was no examination during the course, it was just an evaluation.  45 coaches registered but two were unable to finish the course. They were absent for presentation of their thesis and practical and there is no way they could be issued certificate. Even if there is examination, people should know examination is not the true test of knowledge.

“What we did was evaluation and not exam. People should top undermining the coaches. From information I gathered, the least score was 51% and highest was 81. So people should stop to spreading false information,” Bosso told SportingLife.

Killing of soldiers on duty unacceptable- Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has described the killing of some soldiers and airmen on lawful duty in Bosso, Niger State, by suspected gun runners as unacceptable.

Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday shortly after addressing personnel at the 332 Artilery Regiment in Shendam, Buratai, however, said the incident would not deter the military from carrying out its lawful duties.

“What happened in Bosso is highly unfortunate,’’ he said, noting that the troops were on a mission to recover arms hid in communities in the area when they were ambushed and killed.

“But instead of them – gun runners to be law abiding, they took the law into their hands and attack the troops.

“We have the mandate to bring the situation under control, we are working with the police to make sure that we keep our society free of criminalities,’’ the chief of army staff said.

It will be recalled that the army in a statement on Saturday said that eight of its soldiers and two airmen were ambushed and killed in Bosso during raid on hideout of suspected gun runners.

Spokesman of the army, Col. Sani Usman, however, said the military killed eight of the suspected bandits and arrest 57 others.

On his visit to the regiment and other military formations in the state, Buratai said it was “routine’’ and to find out challenges of the troops in order to address them.

“If you are not on ground to see them and know what their challenges are, you will not be able to appreciate and address them,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the chief of army staff announced the promotion of a Gunner in the regiment, Dantani Ibrahim, to Lace Corporal, for his bravery, dedication and hard work.

Buratai, who later addressed wives of soldiers at the regiment, promised to give their welfare a top priority, adding that children of soldiers, who died in line of duty would be sponsored even up to university level.

He also said that any of those children, who so desire to get enlisted into any of the military services would be given priority.
