West Bromwich Albion record signing, Brown Ideye, is still waiting for work permit to play in the English Premier League.

Ideye, who cost “The Baggies” 10 million pounds, was not picked for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, africanFootball.com reports.

But the former Dynamo Kiev striker is expected to get a work permit from the British Home Office as he is an established member of Super Eagles, winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations as well as featuring at last year’s FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

The rule says an applicant for the work permit must have played at least 75 per cent of his country’s games in the last two years to qualify for a work permit in England.

Meanwhile, Ideye has been handed the number 9 shirt by WBA, while compatriot Victor Anichebe will wear the number 10 shirt after he donned the number 16 jersey last season.

    • Eagles star gets Spartak test

Dynamo Kiev Head Coach, Oleh Blokhin insists he won’t praise Nigeria’s Brown Ideye and mates despite the Nigerian netting a brace in the midweek tie to help the Kievites see off Malaga 3-1 in Spain.

Speaking with the club’s official website, Blokhin revealed that it was too early to heap praises on the Nigeria international as they get set to host Valencia in next week’s Europa League cracker in Kiev.

“I think it’s too early to praise Ideye for the brace or the team as a whole (smiling). Some problems still exist before the Valencia tie. The game against Malaga was special as we played only one squad for the first time at the training camp. It was necessary for our players to show what they can at the moment. I guess we made some tactical mistakes in the first half. It’s great that our team can already play for 90 minutes at a good bat,” he added.

Ideye, it would be recalled, scored two second half goals to ensure Dynamo Kiev ran out with a 3-1 win at Malaga’s home ground.

Meanwhile, Ideye and his Dynamo Kiev pals will tackle Russia’s Spartak Moscow in the opening match of their new football stadium on July 24, 2014.

The encounter is expected to draw die-hard supporters of Ideye’s FC Dynamo Kiev to the Russian capital.

The new football arena will have a capacity of 44 000 seats with ultra modern technological facilities for both spectators and other stadium users.

“Besiktas are considering a move for the Super Eagles striker who is reportedly unhappy at the club. The 25-year-old would be a replacement for Hugo Almeida in Slaven Bilic’s squad, as the Portuguese forward has only six months left on his contract and is likely to leave the club in summer,” turkiyegazetesi.com.tr reports on Ideye, who has only 2 goals having played 10 matches for Dynamo in all competitions this season.

Besiktas are one of the most successful Turkish clubs.
