    Burna Boy, Rema win at 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards

    Afrobeats singer Burna Boy and Rema have bagged awards at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards in the United States.

    The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards held live on FOX and was hosted by rapper Ludacris. 

    Burna Boy clinched the Best African Music Artist at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards

    Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, won the best collaboration of the year with his ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez.

    American pop star Beyoncé received the iHeart Innovator Award while Cher received the iHeart Icon Award.

    Taylor Swift led the winners’ chart with six awards including Artist of the Year, Pop Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, Best Lyrics, TikTok Bop of the Year, and Favorite Tour Style.

    Burna Boy and Rema are now recognised alongside Wizkid and Tems as the only Nigerian artists to have won iHeartRadio Music awards.

    Burna Boy had been on a winless streak at award shows, missing out on seven nominations at the 2023 BET Hip-hop Awards, four nominations at the 2024 Grammys, and six nominations at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.

    On the other side of the Atlantic, he lost the Best International Artist of the Year at the 2024 Brit Awards.

    Global singer Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2baba has showered praises and accolades on grammy-winning singer Burna Boy.

    As many continue to debate who is the biggest between the trio, Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, 2baba singled out the African Giant, commending him for his hard work in the music scene. 

    He noted how the singer has worked, proven, and stamped himself as one of the greatest music icons.

    He added that whether people hate him or love him, it doesn’t change the fact, 2baba also gave a shout-out to those behind Burna Boy, helping him with his dreams.

    “Call this my talk anything you like. This young man has worked, proven, and stamped himself as one of the greatest music icons.
    Hate him or love him. It won’t change the fact. Kudos to everyone that is part of making this fact happen. Oluwa Burnafide,” he wrote via his Instagram story.

    Burna Boy taking dispute with Davido too far, says singer Joe El

    Afrobeats singer, Joel Amadi, popularly known as Joe El Amadi, has shared his thoughts concerning the feud between his colleagues, Davido and Burna Boy.

    Speaking on the latest interview with ‘Real Ish Podcast’, he opined that ‘Africa Giant’ was taking his animosity with fellow singer, Davido too far.

    He described the singer as a younger version of controversial singer, Eedris Abdulkareem, adding that Davido is a loving guy.

    He said: “Burna Boy is the younger version of how Eedris Abdulkareem used to operate before. This Davido and Burna Boy’s beef, I think Burna is taking it too far. Davido is a loving guy.”

    He also berated Burna Boy over his controversial statement that nobody paved the way in the Nigerian music industry, stressing that some people made sacrifices to take Afrobeats to where it is today.

    Recall that the singer had once claimed that no one paved the way for him when he was just an up-coming, which caused controversies online and in the music industry.

    Burna Boy drags foreign blogs over picture without beards

    Grammy-nominated singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy, has slammed foreign online media sites for portraying an image of him shaving his beard.

    The musician, whose beards are his distinctive style, caused a stir on the internet in 2021 when a photo of him without them went viral.

    The image has reappeared and articles being published on a few foreign media sites.

    In response, the self-acclaimed African Giant resorted to his Instagram story to vent his anger.

    He chastised those who rely on these sites for information, calling them weirdos.

    He apologised to the Nigerian media and explained that, contrary to his previous belief, Nigerian blogs were not unique in their ignorance but picked it up from the West.

    He wrote: “To all you weirdos who depend on @theshaderoom @theshadeborough and other weirdos’ blogs for your daily news. I shaved my beard in 2021 not now. But it’s good to know that for all the history I’ve been making and records I’ve been setting and breaking. 

    “You PARASITES only care about who I might have f#cked, who I’m f#cking, and stupīd sh!t like “Burna Boy shaved his beard”. I gotta apologize to Nigerian blogs now because I thought their stupidity was unique. I didn’t know they learned all they know from the West”.

    Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has explained why he doesn’t do giveaways online like his  colleagues.  

    In an Instagram live session with fans, he stated that contrary to people’s perception, he does lots of charity work.

    According to him, he does his giveaways mostly offline because he believes the people who are in dire need of help are not on social media.

    He made it known that he does giveaways to places that really matter, to people that really need it and most of them are not on the internet.

    Grammy-winning artist, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has opened up on his relationship with his fellow superstar Burna Boy in a throwback video.

    Labeling their connection as family, Wizkid delved into the behind-the-scenes of their collaboration during the creation of Burna Boy’s acclaimed album, “African Giant.”

    Recalling the genesis of their friendship, Wizkid disclosed their crossed paths while Burna Boy was working on his groundbreaking album, African Giant.

    Originally scheduled for a collaboration on one of the tracks, Wizkid shared an amusing story from the studio, admitting he was intoxicated when he arrived, which led to an encounter where they both stumbled over the beats.

    He highlighted the special connection that ignites creativity, pointing out the chemistry between them in the studio.

    Taking a break from performing, Burna questioned if he had pulled an Omah Lay on the man’s girlfriend.

    Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has appreciated the city of Boston in Massachusetts for the honour bestowed on him by declaring March 2nd as his day in the city.

    The Nation reported that the Boston City Council recently declared March 2nd as Burna Boy’s Day in honour of the singer’s “performances and advocacy works.”

    The singer was formerly presented a plaque by the Boston City Council at the city’s leg of his ‘I Told Them’ tour on Saturday.

    Sharing a photo of himself lifting the plaque on stage via X, Burna Boy wrote: “I feel incredibly honoured and privileged! Thank you Boston!

    “The goal has always been the same, to bring the world together. We are all so different but all the same! 2nd of March a.k.a Burna Boy Day.”

    Burna Boy, Asake, Rema lose out at Brit Awards

    Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy and his colleagues, Asake and Rema failed to clinch an award at the UK’s highest profile music awards ceremony, Brit Awards. 

    The Nation reported the duo of Burna Boy and Asake was nominated in the Best International Act of the Year category but lost to American star, SZA.   

    While Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ also lost the gong for the Best International Song of the Year to Miley Cyrus ‘Flowers.’

    This year’s edition held at London’s 02 Arena over the weekend. 

    Despite the loss, Rema closed the ceremony with an electrifying performance of his hit song, ‘Calm Down.’

    He became just the second African artist to perform at the BRITs after Burna Boy who performed at the ceremony in 2019.

    Meanwhile Raye has extended her record as the artist with the most wins in one year in BRITs history.

    She garnered six awards last night, including Best New Artist, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best R&B Act and Songwriter of the Year.

    Cheshire Home has long stood as a bastion of support for the physically challenged individuals in Port Harcourt and its environs. Over time, neglect and inadequate maintenance have dimmed its functionality and support capacity.

    Recognising the urgent need for intervention, The REACH Foundation Nigeria, alongside Burna Boy, launched an ambitious renovation project in July 2023 to breathe new life into the facility.

    The unveiling ceremony was a joyous occasion, attended by esteemed guests, community leaders, volunteers, and beneficiaries.

    The highlight of the event was the official unveiling, gracefully performed by Mr. Sam Ogulu, father of Burna Boy, symbolising the Ogulu family’s unwavering commitment to community empowerment and upliftment.

    Burna Boy, known for his fervent advocacy for social impact and community development, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful endeavour.

    He remarked: “It is a privilege to be part of efforts to restore hope and dignity to the physically challenged individuals in our community. Together with The REACH Foundation Nigeria, we are effecting tangible change in the lives of those in need.”

    The event featured musical performances, speeches, and a tour of the newly renovated facilities, providing attendees with a firsthand look at the impact of collaborative efforts in effecting positive change.

    Looking ahead, The REACH Foundation Nigeria and Burna Boy remain steadfast in their commitment to supporting and empowering communities across Nigeria through various initiatives.
