    Burna Boy, foundation, renovate physically-challenged persons’ home in Rivers

    The Grammy Award winner and Afro-fusion sensation, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has renovated the home of the physically challenged in Rivers State in partnership with the  REACH Foundation Nigeria.

    The modernised facility, Cheshire Home, in Borikiri, Port Harcourt, has provided accommodations for the physically challenged in the state but its facilities gradually deteriorated over time following lack of money.

    But Burna Boy came to the rescue of Cheshire Home and its beneficiaries in July 2023 when it collaborated with the REACH Foundation to initiate the renovation.

    Unveiling the remodelled facility on Friday, the Chairperson, Board of Directors, The REACH Foundation Nigeria, Halliday Floretta, said the event portrayed nothing but love for humanity and mankind.

    She said:  “We are a charitable organisation with the aim of reaching out to the most vulnerable in our communities. It is with this that we connect with those who have something to give and help them actualise their vision.

    “We lack words to appreciate Mr. Damini Ogulu and his team for their continuous trust in the Reach Foundation, through their numerous support, we have been able to impact several communities and lives.

    “We have been brought together this afternoon in a show of true service to humanity, always remember that a little kindness brings help and hope to people in need giving them strength and resilience to stand strong in the face of adversity.”

    On his part, Burna Boy, who was represented by his father, Samuel Ogulu, expressed his delight for the project, saying that he would continue to reach out to the needy in the society.

    “We have been brought together this afternoon in a show of true service to humanity, always remember that a little kindness brings help and hope to people in need giving them strength and resilience to stand strong in the face of adversity.”

    On his part, Burna Boy, who was represented by his father, Samuel Ogulu, expressed his delight in the project, saying that he would continue to reach out to the needy in society.

    He said: “I am honoured to be part of this meaningful endeavour to restore hope and dignity to the physically challenged individuals in our community.

    “It is a humbling experience that he would think of this kind of project. Although he has been doing several projects, this one is most touching and I appreciate him for this initiative and we are proud of him.”

    “Together with The REACH Foundation Nigeria, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

    “This was laid in my heart to make it happen, it is like a burden and I thank God we are here. This is not the end, there is still much to be done, we will be back by the grace of God to improve on what we have started.”

    Also, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austine Opara commended Burna Boy and called on the government to name an art theatre after the singer.

    Boston declares March 2 ‘Burna Boy’s day’

    Grammy-winning artist Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has been honored by the city of Boston in Massachusetts, United States.

    The city declared March 2nd as “Burna Boy’s Day”.

    This was contained in a document of the Boston City Council signed by Councillor Ruthzee Louijeune.

    According to the document, Burna Boy was honoured in recognition of his “performances and advocacy works.”

    The document reads inter alia: “Boston’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating culture and diversity is evident in the range of cultural events, festivals, and community initiatives that showcase the city’s multicultural landscape and:

    “Whereas, Burna Boy’s legacy serves as a reminder of possibility, reminding us to continue amplifying voices that have long been silenced or overlooked, now, therefore be it resolved: That March 2, 2024 is designated Burna Boy Day in the City of Boston.”

    Since breaking into the international scene in 2018, Burna Boy has held so many sold out shows in Boston.

    It’s madness for Burna Boy to claim nobody paved way for him – Jaywon

    Singer, Jaywon Juwonlo has berated his colleague, Burna Boy for his assertion that nobody had paved the way for him in the entertainment industry.

    During an interview with Teju Babyface, Jaywon expressed disbelief at such a statement, describing it as nonsensical.

    He emphasised the role of predecessors in paving the way for others in the industry and questioned how artists could learn and be inspired without someone leading the path.

    Jaywon likened Burna Boy’s statement to denying any inspiration from industry figures during his own upbringing.

    “People will say someone inspired you, is different from someone opening doors for you. Tell me, if someone didn’t do it first, where did people from behind learn it from.”

    She said it was “sick” how the claimed African Giant does not write his songs but freestyles.

    Burna Boy, in one of his old videos, said he is still single because he is yet to find the rightful partner.

    According to the ‘Last Last’ hitmaker, he is putting everything in God’s hand to provide him with a ‘make sense’ wife.

    Burna Boy: Rudeboy blasts Eedris Abdulkareem for insulting other artists

    Accusing Eedris of habitual disparagement towards his peers, Rudeboy highlighted instances where Eedris targeted Psquare, 2Face, Timaya, D’banj, and now Burna Boy.

    He alleged that Eedris falsely claimed to have championed the Nigerian music industry, while in reality, he betrayed his colleagues by accepting a nominal fee for a 50 Cent show 20 years ago after they had negotiated more substantial performance fees.

    Rudeboy said that despite keeping silent about the incident for two decades, he felt compelled to speak out against Eedris’ sense of entitlement.

    In a recent Instagram story post, he wrote in Pidgin: “Every eke market day we go de hear ‘I fought for the industry. Na me cook de food wey una dey chop.’ I go just de laugh.

    Making fun of my health crisis shameful, Eedris Abdulkareem tells Burna Boy

    Following the continued online saga between Burna Boy and Eedris Abdulkareem, the latter had written an essay to the Grammy-winning artist for wishing him dead.

    In a post on his Instagram page, he said it was disappointing and saddening for Burna Boy to wish anyone dead. 

    He stated that making fun of his health crisis and blaming people who helped to keep him alive is very shameful.

    He added that threatening his life is a different ball game but acting as God is the most nauseating foul prank of all time.

    Eedris said he would reply to Burna Boy through the medium he knows best, which is music as he teased a song about him.

    He wrote: “ESSAY TO BURNA BOY” FOR WISHING ME DEAD

    “Wishing me or any other person dead is truly saddening and very disappointing.
    Making fun of my health crisis and blaming people who helped to keep me alive is very shameful.
    Threatening my life is a different ball game, but for you to play God? That’s the most nauseating foul prank of all time.

    “Now, conscientious Nigerians and the general public are weighing into the matter and you instantly deleted your demonic prayers for me.

    Burna Boy reacts to Eedris Abdulkareem’s comment on ‘Stup!d talk’

    Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy, has criticised his colleague, Eedris Abdulkareem, who tagged his statement from 2020 about no artist paving the way for his career as ‘stupid talk’.

    Eedris made this statement in an interactive session during “The Honest Bunch” podcast.

    The Jaga Jaga hitmaker addressed the misconception that Burna Boy has with his colleagues.

    In 2020, the ‘Last Last’ crooner caused a stir on the internet when he claimed that none of his senior colleagues paved the way for him.

    According to Burna, in the Nigerian music scene, nobody ever lent him a hand because everyone was too caught up either in their pursuits or in begrudging others’ success.

    The podcast slated for release on Monday, February 19, saw Eedris unleashing his wrath at his younger counterpart regarding his statement.

    He said: “You hear someone like Burna Boy say no one helped him in Nigeria. That’s stupid talk.”

    After Abdulkareem’s remarks, Burna Boy took to social media platform X to fire back.

    In a now-deleted post, he not only threatened to settle the score with the veteran rapper whenever they crossed paths but also rubbed salt in the wound by mentioning Abdulkareem’s recent kidney battle.

    His statement on social media read: “Abdul Kareem abi wetin dem dey call your papa, I no blame you. I blame people wey donate money for your hospital bills. And I wish say you be person wey fit dey enter the kind places wey I dey dey make we use mistake kam.”
