    Burna Boy serenades mother on stage in a post-birthday celebration

    Grammy-winning singer, Burna Boy has surprised his mother, Bose Ogulu, as he gave her a birthday shout-out on stage.

    Recall that Burna Boy’s mother, who doubles as his manager, turned a year older a few days ago.

    A video made the rounds on social media showing the moment the ‘City Boy’s crooner called his mother on stage during his performance in Austin, Texas and they enjoyed a cute mother and son moment before he serenaded with love.

    The audience joined the singer, as they sang a birthday song for her, while also kissing her.

    Now reacting to it, Bose Ogulu expressed how blessed she is over the sweet gesture.

    Describing it as an unforgettable moment, she gushed over how her son surprised her on stage with the sweetest birthday serenade.

    She wrote: “Feeling completely blessed! @burnaboygram surprised me on stage with the sweetest birthday serenade. Unforgettable moment.”

    Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy, has been ranked No. 1 on the Billboard Year-End U.S. Afrobeats Artists Chart.

    ‘Calm Down’ crooner, Rema took the second spot while Tems, Cameroonian diva, Libianca, and Wizkid are placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

    Ayra Starr, CKay, Asake, Davido and Oxlade complete the top 10 in the list released on Tuesday evening on rge Billboard website.

    Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ remix featuring Selena Gomez topped the Billboard Year-End U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, Libianca’s ‘People’ and Tems’ ‘Free Mind’ ranked at number 2 and three, respectively.

    Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ featuring Tems and Justin Bieber, and Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’ complete the top 5.

    Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ also finished No. 1 on Billboard’s 2023 Pop Airplay & Rhythmic Airplay year-end chart, and No. 6 on the Hot 100 Year End 2023 chart.

    Superstar singers, Burna Boy and Rema won the inaugural Afrobeats categories at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, November 19.

    Burna Boy won the Top Afrobeats Artiste, while Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ remix featuring Selena Gomez won the Top Afrobeats Song.

    The ‘African Giant’ crooner beat stiff competition from Wizkid, Rema, Tems, and Cameroonian star, Libianca, on his way to making history as the first-ever winner of the newly-created Top Afrobeats Artiste category.

    Similarly, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ remix saw off competition from Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’, Oxlade’s ‘Ku Lo Sa’, Libianca’s ‘People’, and Victony’s ‘Soweto’ with Rema and Don Toliver, take home the price for the maiden Top Afrobeats Song category.

    However, the ‘Calm Down’ remix was lost in the Top Billboard Collaboration, Top Billboard Excl. U.S. Song, Top Billboard Global 200 Song, and Top Radio Song categories.

    American singer Morgan Wallen led the winners’ chart with 11 awards, while Taylor Swift followed closely with 10 wins.

    Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane has gushed over the Grammy-winning artist, Burna Boy claiming to be his big fan.

    The England captain disclosed this While fielding questions in a recent interview with ESPN UK.

    When asked “what is the last song that got stuck in your head?”, Kane replied: “You know, ‘Big 7’ from Burna Boy? Yeah, I do like Burna Boy, to be fair. It just popped into my head there.”

    Burna Boy threatens to sue bloggers over unauthorised publicity

    Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy, has contemplated that he is most likely to sue bloggers with the money he had promised to earlier give them.

    He is thinking of hiring 100 lawyers to sue Nigerian bloggers for defamation.

    The ‘City Boy’ crooner said he would have sponsored a series of legal battles against Nigerian bloggers with the money he earlier promised to give to them to stop posting about him but he is being considerate because he knows they are trying to make ends meet.

    He queried why Nigerian bloggers are hell-bent on pushing him to the wall.

    On his X handle on Wednesday, November 15, Burna Boy wrote in Pidgin: “Dat money wey I wan give dem instablog dat time, e be like say na to give like 100 lawyers now, But I know say na hustle everybody dey hustle so e go pain me if I run dat kind tin. Why una dey push me na?”

    Burna Boy’s $5m rejected offer a probable media stunt – ID Cabasa

    Burna Boy’s recent assertion about rejecting a $5 million offer to perform in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, UAE, has been questioned by veteran record producer Olumide Ogunade, popularly known as ID Cabasa.

    Burna Boy cited restrictions on smoking as the reason for declining the lucrative offer, a claim that ID Cabasa has cast doubt upon.

    The Emirati law prohibits smoking in public, and according to him, he refused for that purpose.

    ID Cabasa believes it must have been a “media stunt.”

    ID Cabasa spoke in the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu.

    Nedu, the co-host, had asked: “Burna Boy rejected $5 million because he cannot smoke in Dubai. Does it mean he has gotten to the point where he is so addicted to it and cannot do anything without smoking?”

    ID Cabasa replied: “When I saw that stuff online, two things came to my mind and I will be truthful. I felt that it was a media stunt. That was not true. It’s $5 million we are talking about here.

    “And if it’s actually true, Burna Boy is an adult that is his own decision. But if I were the one that was offered $5 million. I don’t even smoke, don’t give me $5 million, just give me $3 million, I will even come to the show with extra artists.”

    Recall that The Nation reported that Burna Boy during a rehearsal with his band, Outsiders, claimed that he rejected $5 million to perform in Dubai because he wouldn’t be allowed to smoke weed while there.

    The Recording Academy, organisers of the Grammy Awards, have stated that the self-styled African Giant, Burna Boy cannot be compared to any afrobeats or African artist.

    The Academy made the assertion in a statement published on its website, congratulating Burna Boy and other nominees for the newly created Best African Music Performance category at the 2024 Grammys.

    The Grammys said Burna Boy is “firmly in his imperial era” having collaborated with “global stars such as Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber,” and also earned his first UK No. 1 album this year with “the classic hip-hop influenced I Told Them, featuring appearances from 21 Savage, J. Cole, RZA, and GZA.”

    The Academy said: “There’s not a bigger star in Afrobeats, or even the whole of Africa itself, than Burna Boy. He nabbed two consecutive Best Global Album GRAMMY nods for his albums Twice as Tall and African Giant, and he’s also collaborated with global stars such as Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber.”

    The Nation reported that Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’ was nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys.

    ‘City Boys’ will contest the award with Davido and Musa Keys’ ‘Unavailable,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Asake and Olamide’s ‘Amapiano, and Tyla’s ‘Water.’

    Burna Boy also bagged nominations in three other categories; ‘Sitting On Top of the World’ featuring 21 Savage – Best Melodic Rap, ‘I Told Them’ – Best Global Music Album, and ‘Alone’ – Best Global Music Performance.

    American DJ Khaled to collaborate with Burna Boy on 2024 album

    American disc jockey and music executive, DJ Khaled, has disclosed that Burna Boy would be part of his 14th studio album, ‘Till Next Time’. 

    Feeling inspired by Afrobeats, he also said he would like to collaborate with Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems.

    He said he is finding a similar “spiritual connection” to the one he feels with dancehall.

    The ‘Another One’ crooner disclosed this in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

    During the interview, the Palestinian-American music star also disclosed that his parents sometimes joke with him about running for president, but he’s never been interested in that sort of thing.

    He said: “As far as politics, I never got into it. It’s a never-ending conversation of back and forth. There’s never an answer. I’d rather be the person that focuses on the solution of being good at all times, working hard, and spreading that love because you can do that.”

    Grammy-winning singer Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy has decided to pay off Nigerian blogs to stop posting news about him.

    The artist said he knows he hasn’t paid any blogs so far, which may have influenced the  consistency in their reports about him. 

    He called on bloggers in Nigeria to deliberate on a price and pass it to him to settle with them to enable them to drop every post about him.

    On his X handle on Friday, Burna Boy wrote: “How far. all these Instablog, PulseNg e.t.c, abeg make all of una do meeting then decide how much I go give all of una make una forget my name totally. I know say I never pay any of una before so I say make I just run am finally. I greet you bros!!”

    His post elicited mixed reactions, with some fans warning him that he would be “forgotten” if bloggers stopped carrying news about him.

    The ‘Last Last’ crooner had slammed Nigerian bloggers for pirating his music.

    Multi-award winning singer, Burna Boy has thrown a subtle shade in the air as he tweeted on his X app using a dog as an analogy.

    This sparked speculations as netizens suggested the jab in the tweet was for his industry mate, Brymo.
