My money doesn’t equate success, says Davido

Afrobeats pop star David Adeleke aka Davido has said his money is not what makes him successful.

Davido discussed what success meant to him and offered a definition of success that was unique to them, claiming it had nothing to do with money.

Success, he said, was primarily about the transformation of lives in one’s community, and that success doesn’t necessarily correlate to having money.

He said: “Success to me is not money. To me, it’s the organizations and the lives you change around the community. That is success to me.”

Dwelling more on his point of view, the DMW frontman tried to give life to his imagination with spoken words.

He explained: “I want to be able to sit down when I’m like 40, 50 and maybe just be on my balcony.

“I always envision it in my head and speak it into existence. Just like I told you I was going to blow up.

“So, I’m going to have big estates and I can just see me wearing a nice Versace robe, you know. Maybe my cognac and my cup and me just walking to the balcony and looking down.

“So when I look down, it’s enguarded with all my wife, friends, kids; the staff. Like just having a party and everybody is successful in their own way. Knowing that all this came from a dream of me just wanting to do music. So, that’s like….I always have that vision,” he said.

  • Ade Dancer, David of our time

Ade Dancer, David of our time

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo just declared “Ade Dancer”, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, as superlative performer because he dances to praise God.

By that, Adeleke has become the David of our time.  David, you will recall, held nothing back to praise Jehovah, so much so that when a rather shy Saul’s daughter, one of David’s queens cautioned her king to be more restrained before the Ark of God, David cursed her with eternal barrenness!

Besides, who can question Baba Iyabo, he with rare intimacy with God that, had he — as the Ebora Owu once swore — asked for third term, his beloved God would have gifted him, the sanctity of the Constitution be damned?

That apart, Olusegun Obasanjo, PhD Theology, ought to know!  If he doesn’t, who will?

Perhaps the former president, clad in the full Aladura “sutana” (read soutane), and the nimble-footed, flexible-bodied Ade Dancer, could compare the latest dance steps, to the latest chart busters in heaven, that so gladden the heart of the Almighty!

Now that Baba Iyabo has decreed it — the latest gyrations to keep the Almighty extremely pleased — shouldn’t other governors, that just muddled through their first 100 days, go on massive tours of Osun to see and study exactly how Ade Dancer does it?

The people!  Do they matter?  If Obasanjo had declared dancing-to-please-God equates working-to-wow-the-people, who are the people to demur?  Isn’t the voice of God the voice of the people?

For all his posturing, the way Obasanjo banalizes issues, either to praise few friends, or raze his many foes, real or imagined, is well and truly stunning! For a man always screeching quality in governance, Obasanjo’s endorsements are well-nigh always laughable..

Poor Ade Dancer!  On the spur of the moment, he allowed himself to luxuriate in suspect stats of his own, not unlike Peter Obi’s China-baked numbers, of virtually snapping fingers; and gifting his Osun voters a paradise-on-earth!

“We reformed the public service, attended to workers’ welfare, constructed and reconstructed over 40 km of roads, implemented free medical surgeries with more than 40, 000 beneficiaries.”

And well, the clincher: “In 100 days in office, I did what many could (not?) achieve in four years”!  Really?  Was that a dig at his predecessor?

Well, all roads lead to Osogbo — or is it Ede now? — to soak in Ade Dancer’s latest seven wonders on earth!  Ade has “danced” it.  The Ebora Owu has spun it.  He who God (and the Ebora) has blessed — serious reward for serious gyrations — which man can curse?

Stop asking about my daughter’s father, Davido’s baby mama warns

Davido’s first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, has issued a warning to ‘nosey’ fans to stop pestering her with questions about the singer.

She urged internet users to be respectful of her decision not to ever discuss anything pertaining to the Afrobeats singer regardless of the existing affiliation between them.

Momodu suggested there were numerous things to talk about herself and her daughter besides their connection with Davido.

The mother of one noted this during an Instagram Live session after a fan asked: “Who gave Imade, Imade?”

Reacting, she stated: “Y’all not about to make me talk about anybody I don’t feel like talking about, period! I’ve told you guys, allow it.

“I don’t want to talk about my ex or whatever is going on. Will never ever go there. That matter is dead and buried, period! Let’s move on. There are other things that are more interesting about Imade and I outside of whoever it is that we are affiliated to.

“And honestly, I want to say, we need to show some respect. Let’s be respectful and leave all that.”

She had in June, announced plans to remove the singer’s name from their daughter, Imade’s name.

She claimed since she acted in a dual capacity as Imade’s mother and father, it was best that the eight-year-old discarded the DMW boss’ family name.

Earlier, Momodu claimed that since the news of Davido’s marriage to his wife, Chioma, he relegated his responsibilities to their daughter.

She shared a cryptic post on her Instagram page where she called out O.B.O for allegedly being an irresponsible father to their child, Imade Aurora Oluwadamilola Adeleke, the singer’s first child whom they welcomed on May 14, 2015.

Talent manager, Prince Theophiluz, has advised young artists to avoid getting signed under the umbrellas of Starboy, 30BG or Spaceship record labels.

According to the talent manager, these record labels which belong to Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy have made money and are at the peak of their careers.

He disclosed that these artists do not have the time to nurture young artists they signed on their record labels.

Citing an example, he referenced the artist that was signed by Davido shortly after releasing his ‘Timeless’ album.

He reiterated that upcoming artists should never dream of signing under a label that does not have time to nurture their talents.

  • Why Davido’s dad supported my governorship ambition, Adeleke reveals

Why Davido’s dad supported my governorship ambition, Adeleke reveals

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has revealed the condition that his elder brother, Deji Adeleke gave to him before supporting and bankrolling his governorship ambition during the 2022 governorship election.

Adeleke who defeated the incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola on July 16, 2022, disclosed that after he lost his election in 2018, he went on self-exile to equip and prepare himself for governance.

The governor, while speaking at the 9th undergraduate convocation ceremony of Adeleke University in Ede on Sunday, September 3, said his elder brother, Deji Adeleke gave him a condition shortly after the 2018 governorship election that he should go back to school, else he would not support his (Governor Adeleke) governorship ambition in 2022.

He said: “Education makes a major difference in what and how we become anything in life. It is a tool we cannot do without; interestingly, getting well-educated is not time-bound. We all must have read several stories of people at advanced age enrolling and graduating from universities. You all know I am a living example of how best to pursue an educational degree despite my age.

“Today marks a year since my election as the governor of Osun State. Four years before then, in 2018, I was rigged out and our mandate was stolen. I was subjected to the worst personality attacks and assaults in Osun’s political history.

“Dr Deji Adeleke encouraged me to move ahead, before I went for self-exile, he called me to a meeting where we talked. He said I have been subjected to a lot of things that I am not educated. He advised that I should go to America for schooling. He said the only thing I could do for the Osun people if I was ready to be governor, I must get educated, I must complete my education. Without completing it, he said I should forget my governorship ambition.

I said: “Se wahala o wa de bayi” (—hope this is not problem?). At my age, 60. It was not an easy task but I did it.

He added: “I went on self-exile for two major reasons. Firstly, to escape the evil plot of enemies who were not satisfied with stealing the people’s mandate. Secondly, to complete my degree programmes especially as my educational qualifications dominated the 2018 campaigns. Our age must never be a barrier to educational pursuit. What we need is commitment and passion to succeed.”

The Pro-Chancellor of the institution, Deji Adeleke said his younger brother wouldn’t have been governor if the rigging plot by corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) had been successful.

He explained: “Today is July 16th 2023, last year was Election Day in Osun State, on that very day, 40 polling units manned by ad-hoc staff of INEC, they are not the permanent staff but corps members, they were nowhere to be found with the intention of just writing the results because of N100,000 without thinking. Only one of them said no to it. If they had succeeded, Governor Ademola Adeleke wouldn’t have become governor today.

“So we started looking for them, luckily we have the corporation of INEC on that day, so we started calling from our situation room to report the matter. They called the NYSC corps members to threaten them that if they fail to show up they will end up in jail. Some of them did not show up at the polling unit until 1 p.m.

“So the 40 units with 3 corps members each totaling, 120 corps members would have tampered with the will of Osun people. These 120 young people will have come around to criticize Nigeria to say they are tired of Nigeria, tired of leadership when they contributed to pulling Nigeria down.”

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Solomon Adebola disclosed that 537 bagged their first degree while the school produced 75 graduands for postgraduate degrees.

“If you believe blogger’s post on my marriage crisis, you’re on your own”, says Davido’s aide

Davido’s aide, Israel DMW, has responded to a controversial blogger’s claims about his marriage troubles, suggesting that those who believe the story are easily fooled.

The blogger recently alleged that Israel and his wife, Sheila, were facing marital difficulties due to Israel’s inability to provide support.

According to the blogger, Sheila had left their home on two occasions but returned.

However, she recently decided to leave for good and instructed her parents to return the bride price after a disagreement on Israel’s recent birthday.

In a post written in Pidgin English, the blogger stated: “The matter has gone beyond management now as she said she is done and has moved out of the house, instructing her parents to return the bride price.

“Although there was a signed agreement say she no go come online come talk wetin happen, after bride price was returned Juju (Israel) don come back to his senses and begging up and down like this.
