    “Send me his account”, Davido demands details of physically challenged man

    Afrobeat megastar, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has again exhibited his philanthropist character as he demanded the account details of a physically challenged man, Adebisi Micheal in order to send him some amount of money.

    Davido’s comment comes after a Twitter user posted a video of the interview Adebisi granted to BBC, adding that Davido’s old tweet drastically changed his life.

    Adebisi in the interview had recounted how he commented on a tweet Davido made a few months back in which he promised to share 20 million to 20 Nigerians and subsequently urged people to pitch their business.

    According to him, he also pitched his business in the comment section, saying that Davido never reached out to him.

    Other netizens who stumbled on his tweet offered to help and that was how he got money to develop his viewing centre a bit

    In reaction to the tweet, Davido asked for the physically challenged man’s account details.

    OBO requested: “Send me his account.”

    Davido made this known on his official micro-blogging platform, X on Friday, September 1.

    In a now trending post on the internet, Davido asked his followers if he should request the government to ban the use of money in the country.

    He said: “Shey make them ban money? Na money dey cause problems.”

    Davido’s post has generated mixed reactions from his fans. Some agreed with him while others disagreed.

    Multi-award winning singer Davido has crossed the bar to make history by being the first African artiste to perform at the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Awards in England.

    The performance came as an interlude before the biggest awards of the night were announced at the Lowry Theatre in Manchester.

    He took to his Twitter handle on Wednesday to relish his historic performance.

    He wrote: “Thank you @PFA for the opportunity to not only attend such a prestigious event but also perform. Music and sports have always gone great together and we proved that again last night! Next stop Dubai @cocacolaarena.”

    Singers Davido and Rudeboy couldn’t resist their thoughts after the businessman, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, posted a message rallying support for the re-election of the incumbent governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma.

    Ahead of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state, the Imo-born socialite in a post on his Instagram page expressed absolute support for the continuity of the Uzodimma-led administration.

    He urged the people to re-elect the incumbent who he described as governor of governors as well as grand master of southeast politics.

    The club owner further implored Imolites to vote for the All Progressives Congress in the state and charged them to consider the governor’s many accomplishments which he noted were glaring.

    He wrote: “Nobody has the capacity to stop him, all other candidates are way too small mentally, morally, socially, physically, academically, spiritually etc to come close to the governor of all governors.

    “Good works speak for itself; let’s push for continuity 4+4 = 8 for the man wey over sabi.

    “Vote APC in Imo State to re-elect @he_hopeuzodimma. We can never get tired of following the man wey know road in the local, state & federal level.

    Superstar singers, Davido and Burna Boy have each been nominated for four different awards at the 2023 Trace Awards.

    ‘OBO’ and the acclaimed ‘African Giant’ were nominated for the ‘Best Male’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Live’, ‘Best Collaboration’, ‘Best Artist’, and ‘Album of the Year,’ categories of the award show set for October 21, 2023, at the BK Arena, Kigali, Rwanda.

    Davido reveals retirement plan after music

    Renowned Afrobeats artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed his intention to retire from the music industry before his popularity wanes.

    The multi-award-winning singer shared this insight during an interview video that was posted on Instagram by famous blogger and friend, Tunde Ednut.

    Speaking about his greatest fear in his career, Davido stated that he does not want to get to a phase when people no longer go wild for his music.

    While noting that everybody goes through different phases in their career, he vowed to leave the stage when the ovation is the loudest.

    He said: “The only thing I’m terrified of is that moment when people cry and go crazy when I get on stage. But it’s going to get to a point where it’s going to start slowing down in my career, everybody goes through it.

    “I never want to get there. I’m ‘gonna’ retire before I turn sour.”

  • Kaha hosts Davido, Michael Blackson at African Musik Festival

    African hip hop music culture scored a major hit in Atlanta, Georgia at a sold-out concert tagged African Musik Festival organized by Enzee Entertainment.

    It was another testament to the growing influence of Nigeria’s hip hop culture otherwise called Afrobeats. With rave Nigerian international artiste, Davido as headliner, the event which held few days ago was witnessed by a mixed-race crowd at the huge auditorium of Center Stage Theatre in Midtown, Atlanta.

    According to host of the show, Emmanuel Nzemeke popularly known as Kaha, artist turned showbiz guru, African Musik Festival is an idea that has come to stay. The head-honcho of Enzee Entertainment revealed, “The idea behind Africa Muzik Festival is actually to showcase and promote Africa music and dance to the western world. It brings together people of different colors and backgrounds in celebration of the African Culture and variety.”

    Aside being treated to Davido’s international hit songs such as Fia, Fall and Assurance, the enthusiastic crowd also enjoyed performances from other acts. Host of the concert, Kaha, the Heart-Robber crooner led other acts to thrill the audience. The hot line-up include Dremo, Danagog, Kobazzie, Kelvin Boj, Morientez, Tyra Meral, Cyrus Deshield, Maleke and Fisum T.

    A major highpoint of the night was a surprise appearance by Hollywood actor and comedian, Michael Blackson. The appearance of the actor of Ghanaian origin took the audience by storm as he entertained them with jokes.

    The African Musik Festival movement has only just began. On the next steps, kaha revealed, “The event will typically cover time frames of two to three months through a one-year period in different states of the United States to assist in moving gradually towards its longer term goals.”

  • I’m quitting smoking soon–Davido

    HIP hop superstar David adeleke a.k.a Davido has said he is quitting smoking soon.

    The artiste posted a video on his Instagram status holding a pack of cigarettes with a caption, “Quitting Soon.”

    Also, artiste and record label Owner, Michael Collins, popularly known as Don jazzy took to his Twitter page to celebrate one year of abstaining from cigarettes.

    On Tuesday, he wrote: “Today makes it One year since I quit smoking, clap for me he he.”

    Davido is one of the famous Nigerian celebrities who doesn’t hide the fact that he smokes. Nigeria musician took to his Instagram page recently that he can’t wait to go back on tour.

    “Can’t wait to go back on tour. Thank you Atlanta last night was lit”.

  • Davido set to marry heartthrob Chioma, holds introduction

    Music Super Star Davido is set to marry his heartthrob and has held an introduction with Chioma’s family.

    The would-be husband announced this via his account@iamdavido, while also announcing that his wedding would take place in 2020.

    He shared pictures of his introduction ceremony with Chioma’s family, asking friends to get set for the big event.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Davido had posted a group photo on Twitter captioned “First of all Introduction” with a wedding and champagne emoji at the end.

    Fans have taken to his account to congratulate the A-list artist on the new development.

    NAN reports that the singer recently disclosed his intentions to marry Chef Chioma Rowland on a question and answer session #AskDavido with his fans on Twitter.

    Davido also took the opportunity to dismiss rumors of a breakup, saying that Chioma deleted her Instagram account to focus on her cooking show.

  • AFRIMA 6th edition: Nasty C, Davido, Burna Boy, Tamer Hosny top list

    South Africa’s prolific rapper and producer Nasty C; Davido; Nigeria’s contemporary music talent, Burna Boy; and Northern Africa’s brilliant showman, Tamer Hosny have scored high in the nominees list for the 6th edition of AFRIMA as released on August 25 by the International Committee of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA.

    The Nominees’ List comprising the 26 Continental Award Categories is coming few days after the 6th AFRIMA Regional Categories comprising the Best Female and Best Male artistes within each of the five African regions were unveiled by the International Jury of AFRIMA during the World Media Conference held in Lagos recently.

    The Continental categories are made up of the different genres of African music from Hip-Hop, Jazz, R’n’B, Pop and Reggae, Ragga & Dancehall to other coveted categories such as ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Producer of the Year’ and ‘Best African Collaboration’ among others.

    Over 200 songs have been nominated from a variety of artistes in the Continental and Regional categories cutting across a host of African talents and creative living on the continent and in the diaspora.

    Leading the 6th AFRIMA nominations scorecard is South Africa’s Nasty C with nine nominations in the following categories; Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa, Artiste of the Year in Africa, Song of the Year in Africa, Producer of the Year in Africa, Best African Rapper/Lyricist, Best African Collaboration, Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Hip-Hop, Songwriter of the Year in Africa and Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African R’n’B & Soul.

    Following closely is Davido with six nominations which include; Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, Artiste of the Year in Africa, Song of the Year in Africa, African Fans’ Favourite, Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African R’n’B & Soul, and Best African Collaboration for ‘Blow My Mind with Chris Brown’.

    Burna Boy will be competing in five different categories which are Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, Artiste of the Year in Africa, Song of the Year in Africa, Album of the Year in Africa and Best African Collaboration with ‘Killin Dem’ featuring Zlatan’.

    Egyptian artiste, Tamer Hosny copped four nominations in the following categories; Best Male Artiste in Northern Africa, Artiste of the Year in Africa, Song of the Year in Africa, and Songwriter of the Year in Africa.

    Other artistes with multiple nominations include Diamond Platnumz who accrued four nominations (Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa, Artiste of the Year in Africa, Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Pop and Best African Dance or Choreography category), and South Africa’s seasoned producer and DJ, Prince Kaybee with five spots (Artiste of the Year in Africa, Song of the Year in Africa, Producer of the Year in Africa, Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Electro, and Best African Collaboration with ‘Banomoya’ featuring Busiswa & TNS.

    The late DJ Arafat, known for his infectious music rhythms and energetic dance has also been posthumously nominated in the Best Male Artiste in Central Africa and Best African Dance or Choreography categories for works he produced within the 6th AFRIMA entry submission window of August 1, 2018 – August 2, 2019.

    Meanwhile, public voting for the 6th AFRIMA Nominees to stand a chance to win the 23.9 Carat Gold-Plated AFRIMA trophy commences on September 1 on the AFRIMA voting platform www.afrima.orgFans and followers of African music can access the online voting pages through the links on AFRIMA social media platforms or directly on the landing page on www.afrima.org.

    Voting closes at midnight on November 22.

    Speaking on the release of the 6th AFRIMA final Nominees’ List, Mr. Delani Makhalima, a member of the International Jury of AFRIMA representing Southern Africa, said: “As with each year, the musicians never cease to amaze us with their incredible talent. As jurors, we are impressed with the quality of work being produced. We are confident that the nominees’ list presented this year is a true reflection of world-class African talent and each year it gets harder and harder to judge and grade the standard, as all regions on the African continent continue to surprise us by what we see and hear.

    “It is encouraging to also see how the music lovers and fans are growing in record numbers to support the music. We are enthusiastic to see this wave of appreciation transcend across the border and overseas.

    We would like to encourage more musicians, songwriters, and producers to keep submitting and spreading the word of AFRIMA so that we can celebrate together the progress and pinnacles of where African music is reaching”, he added.

    The 2019 main awards between November 20 and 23 will feature the 6th AFRIMA Welcome Soiree, the 6th Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS), the 6th AFRIMA Music Village, a Guided Tour of the Host City, the exclusive 6th AFRIMA Nominees Party and the 6th AFRIMA Main Awards ceremony.
