Dele Alli set to sign for Como

Como are on the verge of completing another significant transfer coup. The Lombardy-based club has reached an agreement with Dele Alli, the 28-year-old midfielder who has been training under Cesc Fabregas’ guidance since December 26.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano and Calciomercato, the deal has been struck on the basis of a contract running until June 30, 2026, with an option for an additional year until 2027. The official signing is expected to take place tomorrow, Sunday, January 19. This move will officially make the English midfielder a Como player, following his three-week training stint at the club’s sports centre after terminating his contract with Everton.

For Alli, Como represents a chance at career rejuvenation. His stint at Everton, which began in January 2022 after six and a half successful years at Tottenham (where he scored 67 goals and provided 57 assists in 269 appearances), proved to be disappointing. This period included a brief spell at Besiktas, which was cut short due to a muscle injury that sidelined him from April 2, 2023. Following his return to Everton, Alli underwent surgery in January 2024 before eventually parting ways with the club.

Italy now offers Alli an opportunity to revive his career, although he hasn’t played an official match since February 26, 2023, when he featured in a 0-0 draw between Besiktas and Antalyaspor. This move to Serie A under the guidance of former Premier League star Fabregas could be the fresh start Alli needs to recapture his form and fulfil his once-promising potential.

Dele Alli sees ‘light at end of the tunnel’

Dele Alli says he “can see the light at the end of the tunnel” after more than a year on the sidelines.

Dele spoke in an emotional interview in July about his childhood, mental health issues and time spent in rehab.

The Everton midfielder, 28, last played in February 2023 during a loan spell at Besiktas and has since been out with hip and groin injuries.

“I have had to learn what patience is, but it has made me even hungrier to get back,” Dele told Sky Sports.

“Before this injury the longest injury I have had was eight weeks and that felt like forever.

“That’s why I am thankful I went through the process I did in the summer. If I hadn’t, this would have been so tough to go through this.”

England international Dele spent six weeks in rehab because of a sleeping pill addiction and mental health issues. In his interview with Gary Neville last year, he spoke of being sexually abused when he was six years old.

“When I did that interview, I said it was the best I felt at that time coming out of rehab,” Dele said.”It has been tough and it’s a journey I am on. I am enjoying it.

“When I did it, I said if it helped one person I would be happy, and that is all I wanted from it. The support and reaction I got was overwhelming – I am definitely proud of it.”

Once one of football’s brightest young talents, Dele was part of the England squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup. He also helped Tottenham to the Champions League final in 2019.

He earned the last of his 37 England caps in 2019 and has struggled for form since.

He returned to Everton from Turkey at the end of last season because of his hip injury, before suffering a setback with the groin problem in January.

“It has just been an injury issue – one that I am hopefully getting to the end of. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

“I have had to be patient and it has been a long journey with the injury, a lot of ups and downs.

“It has helped me grow even more as a person. To have those opportunities to grow myself, the pain of the injury is something I can channel when I am back.”

  • Aftermath of broken romance: Dele’s ex Ruby goes into hiding

Model Ruby Mae is hiding indoors and being consoled by her parents and brother after being dumped by Dele Alli, saying she’s ‘not feeling up to seeing anyone.’

The England and Tottenham Hotspur star’s ex-partner recently left the luxury £2.2 million mansion near Elstree, Hertfordshire, they shared to return to her family home 100 miles away in Wigston, Leicestershire.

Her father David Barnacle told MailOnline: ‘They’ve split up, it’s sad but quite amicable and she’s back home with us for the forseeable future.’

Party loving Dele, 22, and lingerie model Ruby Mae, 24 – who never uses her family surname – split up three weeks ago after a high profile two-and-a-half year romance

The footballer, who is recovering from a hamstring injury and is currently away in Dubai doing some warm-weather training, has been linked to Love Island star Megan Barton Hanson since the shock split.

But Ruby Mae’s dad refused to be drawn into speculation that Dele had been flirting with the TV reality beauty after meeting at a London night club, saying: ‘We don’t read the papers so we don’t know what’s being said.’

Speaking on his doorstep while his despairing daughter remained behind closed doors Mr Barnacle, 54, hinted that the split was due to the pair’s differing lifestyles.

He said: ‘We’re just normal people, and private, and that goes for my daughter too.

‘She’s been pictured with Dele but she’s never spoken out, she’s never sought any publicity. She doesn’t want the fame and what goes with it. We’re very ordinary.’

It is rumoured Dele ditched raven-haired Ruby Mae because he wanted to have ‘fun again as a single man.’

A source close to the coupe said: ‘She’s devastated but they’re trying to remain amicable and they’re speaking to each other a lot.

‘Dele told Ruby it wasn’t working. She’s pretty upset and fought to stay together but his mind is made up. He doesn’t want there to be any animosity between them.’

The footie ace and newly single Megan, 24, swapped phone numbers after recently meeting for the first time at Tape club where the shapely blonde caught his eye wearing a figure hugging pink latex dress.

  • Dele Alli parts ways with model girlfriend Ruby Mae

Nigeria born England international Dele Alli has parted ways with his model girlfriend Ruby Mae after a two and half year romance

The Tottenham Hotspur footballer, 22, and the lingerie model, 23, decided to call time on their relationship three weeks ago.

A source revealed to MailOnline that Dele and Ruby are both ‘pretty upset about the split’ but have remained ‘very amicable, speaking to each other a lot’.

They added that there is no ‘animosity’ between the former couple and that there was ‘no drama’ surrounding their split.

Dele had been dating Ruby, a lingerie model who has posed for Dolce & Gabbana and Rare London, since June 2016 after they were spotted kissing at the Euros.

This comes as the footballer denied claims he had swapped numbers with Love Island’s Megan Barton Hanson, after it was alleged the blonde beauty had caught his eye in London’s Tape nightclub.

The stunning brunette is signed to Boss Model Management in Manchester, and has worked for several other well-known brands including Chanel, Hidden Fashion and The Couture Club.

Ruby supported Dele throughout the 2018 World Cup held in Russia from 14 June to 15 July, making a lavish sharing of the sporting event on her Instagram account over the summer.

The model shared several photos of the sporting event onto her Instagram account over the summer. In one sweet snap, Ruby sat on Dele’s lap, as she revealed in the caption: ‘So proud ❤️.’

Alli was born in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire,to a Nigerian father Kehinde and English mother Denise. He moved to Nigeria at the age of nine with his father spending only two years in the West African country before returning to Milton Keynes to live with his mother. Dele who had Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as child hood idol, tinkered with the idea of playing for Nigeria in 2015 when it was reported that John Fashanu was on the verge of convincing him to play for Nigeria.

The move however did not see the light of the day as the former England Under 17 to 23 ace played his way into the mainstream of England team where he has continued to make his mark.

He was named in the Three Lions 23-man squad to the last world cup in Russia. He scored the second goal against Sweden in the quarterfinals as England hit the semifinals and also won a free-kick through which England took the lead in the semifinals against Croatia, thought the team eventually lost the game 2-1 in extra time.

  • Dele Alli obsessed with video games

DELI ALLI is not only skillful on the football field but also a master at video games.

The Tottenham Hotspur and England star was snapped by his girlfriend, Ruby Mae, playing video games on Tuesday night ahead of the win over Watford in the Carabao Cup.

And the lingerie model poked fun at her beau’s gaming obsession, plastering the geek emoji all over a picture shared in an Instagram story.

Alli was the picture of concentration as he showed off his gear, complete with a headset, microphone and a proper gaming chair.

In April, the 22-year-old displayed his skills for all to see when he streamed himself playing the popular online game Fortnite to over 35,000 people.

Alli even spurned watching Bayern Munich’s Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid that night in order to play his favourite game.

Last month Alli was back on Twitch, playing a beta version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, due for release next month.

Alli regularly references Fortnite in his goal celebrations, including after he scored England’s second goal against Sweden in this year’s World Cup quarter-final. It was popular among the England squad in Russia, with Alli telling The Times he was the best in the squad.

“Just now we played,’ he said. ‘Me, Harry Kane, John Stones and Jamie Vardy against Harry Maguire, Nick Pope, Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier. It was the first to three wins and my team won.’

  • Otkrytiye Arena Clash: Dele Alli boost for England

Dele Alli has declared himself fit to play for England in their last 16 clash with Colombia on Tuesday.

The midfielder sustained a thigh injury in the first match of the tournament against Tunisia, and did not feature in the other group fixtures against Panama and Belgium.

Alli has been back in England training for a week and, when asked if he was fit to return to Gareth Southgate’s side, he said: “Yeah. Obviously after the injury I was frustrated.”I’ve been doing a lot of work and I’m back and ready to go.”

Southgate made the controversial decision to make eight changes to the England side for their final group match against Belgium, with both teams having already secured a place in the last 16.

England went on to lose the game 1-0, but Alli says the players back the manager’s decision and rejected suggestions they have lost momentum as a result of the changes.

“First of all I have to make it clear the whole squad is the ‘A team’ – we’re all in this together”, Alli said.

“As players we support any decision the manager makes. We’ve come here with a big squad and everyone’s fighting for their places. It was a great opportunity and I think the boys did well.

“I don’t think we lost any momentum.”

However, Alli did say England need to bounce back from the defeat to Belgium – which left them second in their group – saying: “It’s important we react positively to the defeat. We want to win every game.

“Colombia are a good side but so are we and we’ve been doing a lot of work. We need to make sure we perform in the game.”

  • Pochettino has father-son relationship with Alli

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has compared his relationship with Dele Alli to that of a father and son, saying: “You love him, but sometimes you have to be tough.”

The attacking midfielder has been a key figure for Spurs this season, scoring 16 goals in 30 Premier League outings, but his discipline has been called into question on more than one occasion.

However, Pochettino believes Alli is the type of player who thrives on love rather than punishment and he is determined to bring the best out of the England international.

“Time has shown that we are right to support him, and to give love, because he is so young,” Pochettino is quoted as saying by London Evening Standard.

“This character is perfect for a player. When you are winning and you feel that to lose on the pitch is like losing your life, those are the qualities we want in a player. He needs to improve, but he needs love.

“It is not about punishing him. I always knew from day one that the relationship would be tough. It was friendly, lovely, but tough too. It is like when you have a son. You love him, but sometimes you have to be tough.”

Alli, who turns 21 on Tuesday, has received plenty of praise for his fine performances and Pochettino says the attention is well deserved.

“If he is not the best young player in Europe, he is one of the best,” the Spurs boss added. “Look at his age and his statistics. His potential is massive.

“Because he is so young, he can improve a lot, he can learn a lot. He gets better and more mature every day. He is improving his skills and also his character.”

  • Alli bags three match ban for horror tackle

Alli bags three match ban for horror tackle

Dele Alli will miss Tottenham’s next three games in European competition after UEFA ruled on the red card he received during last month’s shock Europa League exit against Gent.

Spurs were 1-0 down from the away leg and their task became steeper at Wembley when England midfielder Alli launched into a dangerous lunge on Brecht Dejaegere before receiving his marching orders.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men could only muster a 2-2 draw and the Premier League’s second-place side will now be without Alli when they make their expected return to Europe next season.

Tottenham lie second in the Premier League, seven points ahead of Manchester United in fifth and well placed in the battle for Champions League qualification.

North London rivals Arsenal are languishing in sixth by contrast and UEFA have fined the club €5,000 after supporters entered the field of play during their 5-1 Champions League last-16 defeat to Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium.

The reigning Bundesliga champions were fined €3,000 for their fans throwing objects during the same match.

Why is Broad hanging out with Dele Alli’s girlfriend Mae?

England cricket star Stuart Broad has been snapped hanging out with Dele Alli’s girlfriend Ruby Mae.

But why were the pair enjoying each other’s company? Broad’s girlfriend, Bealey Mitchell, has revealed that she is actually cousins with the lingerie model.

Mitchell took to Instagram on Thursday night to post a photo of Broad with Alli’s girlfriend, both snapped wearing moon boots.

Mitchell captioned the post: ‘When your cousin @rubymae3223 loses odds and has to wear @stuartbroad8 ‘s spare moon boot.’

Broad, who is third on the list of all-time wicket-takers for England with 368 and recently made it clear that he wants to play white-ball cricket for his country again, is currently enjoying a break from his duties as Eoin Morgan looks to lead his side to victory in the one-day international series against the West Indies.

Mae is a model who has worked for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, adidas and Rare London during her career.

Alli and his 21-year-old girlfriend have been dating since early 2016 and have been photographed regularly since, enjoying shopping trips and restaurant visits.

She was pictured at Euro 2016, supporting Alli, and comforted him following the Three Lions’ shock exit to Iceland in the last 16 of the tournament.

But on this occasion, Alli was nowhere to be seen as he is busy preparing for Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Alli, who scored in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Stoke last time around in the league, will be looking to help his side to another victory as the race for the top four intensifies.

Alli is Premier League player of the month

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has been named Premier League Player of the Month for January after scoring five goals to maintain the Londoners’ title push.

England international Alli beat off competition from team-mate Harry Kane as well as Everton full-back Seamus Coleman, Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson after helping Spurs to three wins and two draws last month.

Alli, whose team are second, nine points behind Chelsea, said: “The team’s done very well this month, not just me individually.”We’ve had lots of players in form so it’s an honour to win it.”

“It’s the first one I’ve won and it’s a real honour. I think the whole team played brilliantly this month.” #COYS

Swansea boss Paul Clement landed the manager gong in his first month in charge at the Liberty Stadium.

After taking over on January 3, with the Swans four points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table, Clement halted a run of four straight defeats with nine points from 12 in January, including a memorable 3-2 win at Liverpool.

Swansea are now a point clear of the bottom three although it remains tight at the foot of the table.
