    We’ll retrieve stolen money from PDP‎ govt – El-Rufai

The Kaduna State Governor-elect, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’I, on Tuesday alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party government has stolen so much from the national treasury, saying the new government will politely ask those involved to return all the money taken from the nation’s coffers.

He said politicians both at the state and national levels, who have soiled their hands with public money, should be ready to make refund as soon as the All Progressive Congress (APC) led government takes over power on May 29.

El-Rufa’i spoke when executive members of the National Union of Textile Garments and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN) paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday.

The Governor-elect said, “We will politely ask those who stole government money to return the funds.

Again, Card reader rejects Jang’s fingers, as El-Rufai lauds INEC

Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau has restated his opposition to the use of the card reader machines as the device, again, failed to capture his finger prints as it did during the presidential elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the governor was later cleared manually, after six trials that yielded no positive result.

The visibly disappointed Governor repeated his advice to INEC to halt the use of the machine, to “minimize the disenfranchisement of voters over no fault of theirs.

“You can see that the card reader again failed to capture my fingers.

“My suggestion to INEC is to drop the use of the card reader and return to the old style of voting since these machines are not working well.”

Jang also alleged that some names had been removed from the voter’s register, claiming that people who voted two weeks ago did not find their names on the register.

He however, expressed optimism that his party, the PDP, would “do very well’’ in the elections, and urged the people to turn out en mass to vote.

Jang rejected suggestions that there was voter apathy in the state, pointing out that people were still being accredited in many polling units.

Meanwhile, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Kaduna State has applauded INEC for early arrival of election materials and officials to polling units.

“I am impressed with the turn out this time around, particularly with election materials, I must commend INEC, there is an improvement over the Presidential election.”

He attributed reports of low turn-out of people in some parts of the state to the alleged threat by a political party to use thugs to disrupt the election.

El-Rufai urged all registered voters in the state to come out en mass and exercise their civic duties.

The APC governorship candidate prayed that the polls would be conducted peacefully and successfully nationwide.

  • Kaduna: PDP’s threat caused low voters’ turnout – El Rufai

Kaduna: PDP’s threat caused low voters’ turnout – El Rufai

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has blamed the low turnout of voters in the state on alleged threat by the Peoples Democratic Party to cause chaos in the state.

However, the state’s Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, has told his supporters and entire people of the state to accept whatever is the outcome of the election.

He made the call after he was accredited for the election in Zaria.

In areas like Gonin Gora, Barnawa and Narayi in Southern metropolis of the state, electorates were in relaxed mood and not bothered about the accreditation exercise.

In other parts of the state, specifically in places like, Sabon Gari and Tudun Wada, voters turned out in large number for the polls.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote at polling unit 024, Angwan Sarki, El-Rufai blamed the low turnout on the threat by the PDP led government to unleash terror on the electorates.

The former FCT minister said the electorates were afraid of showing up at their polling units because of the PDP threat.

The opposition candidate, who arrived the polling unit at about 9:55am and was accredited without taking much time, praised the exercise, saying, “accreditation commenced on time compare to what happened during the presidential elections.”

He expressed satisfaction with the use of card readers, which he described as effective.
