BBNaija: TBoss, Debie-Rise, Bally, Marvis up for eviction

•Bisola saves rival, Efe from nomination

Tension returned to the Big Brother Naija house as Monday’s fresh nominations put TBoss, Debie-Rise, Bally, and Marvis up for eviction, just less than 24 hours after the trio of Bally, TBoss and Debbie-Rise narrowly escaped eviction.

The house also experienced a rare change in leadership as Bisola became victorious in this week’s head of house contest, after over 78 days of anticipation and several botched attempts at clinching the house leadership. She emerged top after winning the head of house contest. Bisola replaces Efe, who was the immediate past ultimate head of House and was unfortunately nominated for eviction but was saved by Bisola, the new queen of the house.

The nomination jolted some of the housemates who all have to sit back and re-think their strategies. For embattled Debie-Rise and TBoss, synergy appears to be the working strategy as both openly canvassed for voters’ support. Recall that both of them have been up for eviction back to back in the last two weeks.

TBoss got upset after taking a look at the eviction wall and realising she had been put up for possible eviction eight times and there are only two times she hasn’t been up.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, during last Sunday’s live eviction show, said, at least, one of the newly nominated housemates will have to go home by Sunday.

The next eviction show holds on Sunday, April 1, 2017.

Organisers have urged viewers to save their favorite housemates. In Nigeria, viewers are expected to text the word “Vote” followed by the housemate’s name to 32052. While for the rest of Africa, they are advised to follow the AfricaMagictv official account on WeChat and click on the menu option ‘BBNaija’ and select their preferred housemate.

The show is aired 24/7 in 45 countries from Nigeria through East, West and Southern Africa on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29.

Big Brother Naija is sponsored by online retail store, PayPorte.

    BBNaija: ThinTallTony is out

    …As underrated Debbie-Rise remains

It started with Efe being told to stay back by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, as he was saved from eviction and then the most underrated Debbie-Rise, coming second in the votes ranking.

When the bomb was released, it hit straight into ThinTall Tony’s heart. It was a great shock. His eyes were laced with tears. His female ally, Bisola, cried out loud. Bally looked on with starry eyes.

ThinTallTony now has the outside world to contend with. He had claimed he had nowhere to go to, saying to his fellow housemates that his family was dead, while fans of the show have been campaigning with the hash-tag that he should return to his wife, Laraba, and two children. This was against the backdrop of his flirting with Bisola and TBoss at intervals.

Joining Ebuka on stage, the 5.7ft dancer said: “I’ve waited for 12 years to be here. I lived it to the fullest. I’m living the dream.”

He said it was heartbreaking that he was evicted, but it’s all good.

Playing back his kissing scenes with Bisola, he claimed he was merely acting. “No offense to anybody, but that was not real. I know that I felt something for her. She is an incredible woman. But we spoke about it and took it maturely.”

Asked about his wife and children, who he admitted are real, he said: ‘Like I said in the game, I never spoke about my family. I kept it really separated, I don’t want anyone to know about that part of my life because the truth is, I’ve done research before about people, humans, and how they think, not just in Nigeria but around Africa. When I did that research, I realized there is a way people look at you when you are married, especially in the game, and I’m married. Nobody knows I am.”

However, when told everybody, including his fellow housemates knew he is married, he was alarmed.

According to him, he had tested them by asking them a few questions and they did not respond in a way that suggested they knew he is married.

He said he wasn’t perturbed by people who nominated him, because he had also nominated Bisola, despite their closeness.

He claimed that the aspect of his family that he said was dead were his grannies, brother and sister because he held them in high esteem.

During an eviction diary room session earlier, TBoss had predicted Debie-Rise’s exit, just as Efe noted that her main strength was the guitar, with which she has been constituting nuisance in the house.

Although Debie-Rise was not originally nominated for possible eviction, she was put up by Marvis, who had to use her power card to nominate someone, between Bisola and Debie-Rise. This was just as Head of House, Bassey, used his veto power to save Bally and put up Efe.

Efe took the lead with a wide margin of 51.97 percent, followed by Debie-Rise with 21.78 percent, and TBoss with 14.57 percent while ThinTallTony had 11.68 percent

Reekado Banks opened the show with the medley ‘Oluwa Ni’, followed by ‘Problem’, as he was joined by four female dancers in an applauded performance witnessed by his master and honcho of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, who was sitting among the live studio crowd.

The second performance was done by DNA Twins, singing “How Can”. When Reekado Banks returned to close the show, he sang “Ladies and Gentlemen”.

The show continued with seven housemates left for the prize of N25 million and a brand new Kia Seranto car.

The next eviction show holds on Sunday, March 26. And viewers in Nigeria are expected to text the word “Vote” followed by their preferred housemate’s name to 32052. While for the rest of Africa, fans are told to follow the AfricaMagictv official account on WeChat and click on the menu option ‘BBNaija’ and select their preferred housemate. Voting will open at 21h00 WAT on Monday, March 20 27 and will close at 20h00 WAT on Saturday, March 26, 2017.

Sponsored by online retail store, PayPorte, the show is aired 24/7 in 45 countries from Nigeria through East, West and Southern Africa on all DStv packages on channel 198 and GOtv channel 29.

BBNaija: Biggie strikes housemate, as viewers vote Uriel out

The unusual happened on social reality show, Big Brother Naija (BBN), as Kemen was sacked from the competition for violating the rules of the game. This happened hours before the live eviction show, anchored by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
Kemen, one of the two brawny housemates got the first warning strike last week for what Biggie described as conspiring with Marvis against some housemates for possible eviction. It was at this instance that Biggie cancelled last week’s nomination exercise and put up all the housemates, safe for Bisola and Bally who had immunity and ThinTallTony who was able to save himself having won the Head of House task. It came as a surprise to viewers that Kemen broke the BBN rule again, especially having been made to write out the in-house rules in the aftermath of last week’s transgression. This time, he was found guilty of sexually harassing a female housemate, TBoss, while she was asleep. This is perhaps the first time any housemate will be disqualified from the show in the decade-long history of the Big Brother franchise in Africa.
Kemen, an opinionated BBN housemate, is a ship manager turned fitness entrepreneur and Port Harcourt’s most sought after personal trainer.

Banky W who visited the housemates as a celebrity guest penultimate week, made a second appearance on the show. This time, opening the live eviction show with his song, “All I Want Is You”. He later performed another of his hit songs, “Yes or No”.
Amidst palpable tension in the house, and suspense by Ebuka, the hammer of real eviction fell on Uriel, as the housemate to secure the least number of votes from fans. It was the first time that the Hammersmith, England-born housemate was put up for possible eviction. Having played her way smartly in the heart of other housemates, it was clear Uriel couldn’t garner enough liking from viewers.
Joining Ebuka on stage, Uriel was surprised to be faced with the crowd. “I’m in shock. This is crazy. I thought it was a joke. Can I go back…? ” she asked jokingly.
On her dual personality in the house, given her freer mien in the diary room, she said: “I just thought the diary room is where you go to and just express yourself and be you.”
About getting romantic with any male housemate, the radio personality who hails from Imo State said she has been single for a year and although she was attracted to Bassey whom she believed was indecisive.
Uriel who was the first housemate to enter the house on January 22, 2017, was also shocked to discover that Ese and Jon who left last week were fake housemates.
The remaining housemates can heave a sigh of relief as there will be no eviction next Sunday. However, Ebuka advised them to do less of bonding and focus on the prizes, as the game gradually moves towards the end.
The voting pattern revealed that Efe came tops with the highest vote of 39.9 percent. Kemen would have been evicted all the same, having scored 4.8 percent which represented the lowest number of votes. Uriel scored the second lowest with 7.9 percent, followed by Debbie-Rise with 8.3 percent; Bassey with 11.8 percent; Marvis with 12.9 percent and TBoss with 14.4 percent.

  • BBNaija: Seven housemates on edge, three get immunity from eviction

BBNaija: Seven housemates on edge, three get immunity from eviction

There is palpable tension in the Big Brother Naija house after controversial housemate, ThinTallTony, secured immunity from this week’s eviction after beating other contenders in all the keenly contested Head of House tasks on Monday.

Following last Sunday’s all-inclusive nomination, eight housemates were subjected to a series of contests as parts of the routine to select a new Head of HAouse. Marvis, TBoss and ThinTallTony were the three housemates who made it to the final in the HoH contest, after scaling through a series of contests.

In the final contest, the trio was required to deflate several balloons with their bums in order to find a mystery paper that will give the mandate to the would-be HoH housemate. The only male housemate in the final contest, ThinTallTony ultimately emerged winner; thereby joining Bisola and Bally who are immune from nomination come Sunday’s eviction show. The seven housemates that will slug it out in Sunday’s eviction show are Uriel, TBoss, Marvis, Kemen, Efe, Bassey and Debbie-Rise.

Meanwhile, the eight housemates including ThinTallTony still believe that the road to winning the coveted 25 million naira and SUV has become narrower as two of the most popular housemates are supposedly out of the race.

As the new HoH assumes his throne in a triumphant manner, he is immune from eviction, but does not wield the power to save or nominate any housemate from eviction. As the BBNaija draws inexorably towards the end, more mysteries have continued to unfold and no one knows what Biggie has up his sleeve.

•As Jon, Ese make smooth exit

The tension was not too intense in this week’s supposed ejection from the Big Brother Naija show, as no particular housemates were marked for possible eviction. Even when Bally and Ese were called out by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the others housemates were hopeful about their return. “Guys you’re coming back. It’s a lie…,” said Uriel, even as others nodded their heads in agreement.

No real eviction took place because Biggie had cancelled the nominations after some housemates broke the rules by conspiring against others for nomination. It was the same positive feeling when Bisola and Jon were sent to the arena.

The twist ended with a fantastic game and holiday for two in Paradise. It happened that only the two fake housemates- Ese and Jon – were out via an easy exit that left no room for suspicion.

Recall that Bally and Bisola had immunity from their previous tasks in the house.

While Bally had discovered the green card which he held on to in the last two weeks, Bisola’s immunity came via last week’s eviction show game that had her playing alongside Bassey and TBoss. Bisola got her question correctly and was immuned from nomination. Bassey got his question correctly too, and enjoyed a traditional dish of his choice. TBoss however missed her question and had to wash the dishes for the entire week.

As Jon and Ese made their ways out of the holding room, Bisola, who had bonded well with, especially the latter, got emotional, while Bally looked confused.

For the other eight housemates, Ebuka called them to the arena for a nomination game. There were 30 envelopes on the table from which housemates were asked to pick one. They were all unlucky, and are up for possible eviction next week: Bassey, TBoss, Efe, Marvis, Debbie-Rise, Kemen,  ThinTallTony and Uriel. However, only the would-be Head of House, after tomorrow’s task will be immuned for possible eviction. Unlike before, Biggie has ruled that the Head of House’s power cannot save or replace any housemate.

While Jon and Ese joined Ebuka on stage, the host described them both as the ‘best fake housemates’ in the history of the show.

Jon said that the fact that the game looked like he was there to take over from Miyonse, who had been evicted earlier, made it difficult for him to hatch his plan against TBoss.

Blindfolded, Bally and Bisola were led to their surprised vacation abode by two ninjas. Biggie said they will be in that juicy isolation for a couple of days.

On who might win the show, he said, “I used to think it would be Efe, but now it looks like it might be ThinTallTony.”

For Ese: “I think it’s between ThinTallTony and Bisola,” she said.

Just before the mock eviction show, Nigerian songstress, Emma Chukwugoziam Obi, aka Emma Nyra sang her popular dance hall/reggae influenced song, ‘Drop It’. Her performance was followed after a short interval, by that of the earlier advertised sonorous singer, Simi, who serenaded the crowd with ‘Love Don’t Care. When she returned for her second performance, Simi took the show higher with her mid-tempo afro pop song, ‘Jamb Question’.

The next eviction show holds on Sunday, March 5. Voting will open at 21h00 WAT on Monday, February 27 and will close at 20h00 WAT on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

BBNaija: Show ends for controversial Gifty

Gifty, the fair-skinned contestant who narrowly escaped ejection from the ongoing Big Brother Naija house last week, being the housemate with the least number of votes after CocoIce, the last evictee, could not pull it through this time.
The test of popularity vote was between her, Marvis and ThinTall Tony. It however came as a surprise to many that Thin Tall Tony came second, as the anxiety was between the fans of Gifty and Marvis, with the latter’s additional strength, seemingly coming from the fans of her close allies within the competition.
Gifty’s dream of N25 million and a brand new Kia Seranto car, being the coveted prize for the would-be winner ended exactly four weeks into the competition. She was also the fourth housemate and second female to be shown the door so far.
It was her third time of being put up for possible eviction, although the first was a mock exercise. As for Marvis, who enjoys the soft spot of her gang, her two-time nomination was at the instance of Head of House’s veto to save one housemate of their choice and replace with another.
With Gifty’s exit, the number of the remaining housemates is10, although Biggie had introduced two fake housemates; Jon and Ese, who are not playing for votes or the prize.
Joining the host of the show, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on stage, Gifty saidit was fun, challenging and romantic being in the house. She said she liked the guys as brothers despite her romantic attachment to them. On her passion for power and fame, she said she could achieve them by wisdom and ‘doing the right thing’. she thought that TTT, Bisola and TBoss might have nominated her for eviction. She was surprised Kemen and Efe nominated her. On whether she was a hair dresser before, she said she acquired the skill by watching people do it.
The latest evictee is the most controversial housemate, going by certain traits for which viewers and her fellow housemates have classified her as ‘fake’. They range from her inconsistent accent, hopping from one male housemate to another and lack of a special skill like most of the housemates.
She also caught the ire of viewers recently when she claimed not to know comic rapper and rave-of-the-moment Falz the Bahd Guy, and Banky W, when both artistes visited the house at different times, adding that she didn’t like Banky W, as she felt he was proud and full of himself.
Gifty is said to have schooled in Accra, Ghana and returned to Lagos to make her dreams happen. She has featured in a few Nollywood movies, shot by her supposed husband and film director, David Sorochukwu Akumah. Reports say she walked out of her marriage few months after.
Ice Prince who performed at the eviction show sang ‘Boss’ and ‘No Mind Them’ the two times he showed up on stage. The send he performed with Vanessa Mdee.
The twist this week was a question game that had Bisola, Bassey and TBoss playing before Ebuka on stage. Bisola got her question correctly and is immuned from nomination for possible eviction in the coming week. Bassey got his question correctly too, and will enjoy a traditional dish of his choice. TBoss however missed her question and would have to wash the dishes.
The next eviction show holds on Sunday, February 26. And viewers in Nigeria are expected to text the word “Vote” followed by their preferred housemate’s name to 32052. BBNaija: Gifty, Marvis, TTT know fate this Sunday

    …As new HoH saves TBoss

Gifty is going through the same anxiety she faced last week, having been put up again for possible eviction this Sunday.

She was nominated on Monday alongside TBoss and ThinTallTony. However, TBoss who had gone through the heat before, albeit a fake eviction, was saved by new Head of House, Ese, who replaced her with Marvis. It will be Marvis’ second time on the eviction hot seat too.

Predictions for this week’s nominations were a bit sketchy at first but as the housemates made their way one after the other to the Diary Room to nominate two housemates each for possible eviction, it became clear who would be making the cut.

As it was during the last nomination show, Bally was called in first by big brother to make his selection. He once again delayed the use of his advantage card and nominated Bisola and TTT. For the rest housemates, Efe nominated Tboss and Gifty; Gifty nominated Kemen and Bassey; TTT nominated Tboss and Gifty; Bassey nominated Efe and TTT; Bisola nominated Tboss and Gifty; Kemen nominated Debie-rise and Gifty; Debie-rise nominated TTT and Marvis; TBoss nominated Marvis and Uriel; Uriel nominated Tboss and Debie-rise while Marvis breaks Bally’s clean slate by nominating him and Uriel for possible eviction.

Although Gifty, TBoss and TTT had the highest number of nomination nods, as it is the norm, Biggie called on new Head of House and fake housemate, Ese, to save one of the housemates and replace with another. In a defining moment, Ese opted to save TBoss and replaced her with Marvis.

With the results from the nomination session officially announced by Biggie, social media micro-blogging site Twitter has been buzzing with viewers campaigning for their favorite housemates.

The countdown to the next eviction show has officially begun!  Voting for the third eviction show started on Monday, February 13 at 21h00 WAT and will close on Saturday, February 18 at 20h00 WAT. Viewers in Nigeria are expected to text the word “Vote” followed by their preferred housemate’s name to 32052. While for the rest of Africa, they are to follow the AfricaMagictv official account on WeChat and click on the menu option ‘BBNaija’ and select their preferred housemate.
