    I’m planning to settle down – Rapper Falz

    Popular rapper, Folarin Falana, aka Falz, has disclosed his plans are underway to start his family. 

    The 33-year-old said he is considering getting married soon, adding that he would be open to having children in three years time.

    Falz stated this in a recent interview with actress Chinasa Anukam.

    The host asked: “Are you planning to settle down? Yes or no?”

    Falz replied, “Yeah.”

    Asked how many years he is looking to have children, the rapper said: “The next three years.”

    Renowned rapper and lawyer, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz the Bhad Guy, has expressed admiration for his parents, offering special congratulations to his mother for achieving the prestigious rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

    His mother, Funmi Falana, was among the 58 lawyers decorated as Senior Advocate of Nigeria on Monday.

    Falz’s dad, Femi Falana, is also a renowned SAN.

    Celebrating his parents, Falz posted a photo of his parents in their SAN robes on Instagram with the caption: ‘’What’s better than one Senior Advocate? Two.”

    How my friends and I escaped armed robbery attack – Falz

    Renowned rapper, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz has recounted how armed robbers attacked him and his friends on their way for a show performance. 

    Falz revealed this during an interview with “Untapped,” where he stated that the incident happened on November 16, 2013, on an Abuja highway, which resulted in the death of their driver.

    The rapper recalled the incident and said that he and his friends started saying their final prayers because they thought they were going to die too.

    He said they were supposed to go by plane but they didn’t purchase their tickets on time hence they traveled by road.

    Falz and his band men had taken a nap while journeying down till they regained consciousness, and they saw a hoodlum demanding money from them.

    He said he told the hoodlum that they had no money and after many threats, he and the gunmen shooting at the road ran away after hearing police sirens.

    The multi-faceted entertainer said the police eventually came to their rescue after many private cars refused to help them to the hospital.

    Describing the situation, Falz said: “We see this turban tying AK47 welding, dangerous-looking men in the middle of the expressway maybe like 5, we could not count; they were directly shooting at our car everything was happening within seconds, so fast from the first bullet coming to us waking up, the second bullet coming to us taking cover, to the third one that hit the driver in the eye.”

    BET International has announced the launch of a new category to honour artists from around the world during the BET “Hip Hop Awards” 2019.  Artists from Africa, Europe and Canada will compete for the Best International Flow Category during the BET “Hip Hop Awards” 2019.

    The announcement of the Best International Flow category is the latest move by BET International to recognize the growing appeal of artists from around the world. The BET “Hip Hop Awards” will return to Atlanta, Georgia, USA, where the winner will be announced during the global broadcast on Saturday, October 5, 2019. BET “Hip Hop Awards” 2019 will air on BET Africa (DSTV Channel 129) on October 9, 2019, at 6:00PM WAT.

    This year’s nominees for the Best International Flow category include some of Africa’s most trailblazing acts. Globally acclaimed Nigerian rapper and songwriter Falz, South African rapper, songwriter and producer Nasty C. and Awarding winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie rounds up the list of African nominees. They are set to compete with internationally recognised singer-songwriter Tory Lanez (Canada), hip hop artist and grime OG Ghetts (UK), rapper/singer Little Simz (UK) for the award.

  • Falz to host fans at ‘The Falz Experience II’

    Rapper Falz has announced he’s hosting the second edition of his concert, ‘The Falz Experience’ at Eko Convention Center, Victoria Island, Lagos on June 8, 2019.

    The five-hour live concert which will be produced by Livespot productions will feature performances by Falz and artistes like Simi, Ycee and others.

    With early bird tickets already sold out, it is expected that the show will surpass the record-breaking 100 million views recording by the debut edition in 2017. The maiden edition of the show reportedly gulped a whooping sum of N300 million and elevated the concert experience in Nigeria.

    Also, fans will be able to suggest ideas to the two-time AMVCA winner about what they would like to see at the show with the hashtag #WhatWillFalzDo. From the songs they’d like to hear and even which version of Falz they would like to see, Falz is putting the power in the hands of the fans to help him create an engaging concert like no other.

    Speaking on why he’s putting the fans at the centre of this edition, Falz said: “My fans are the core of my career. I am nothing without their love and support and that’s why I’m putting the Falz Experience together, just for them. I would love to get ideas and comments from them on how we can make The Falz Experience bigger and better. The idea behind The Falz Experience 2 is to bring all their thoughts together to build a fantastic show. It’s a music concert that will incorporate different elements of my art, with support from the many colleagues I have collaborated with and of course, my fans.”

  • Falz, others discuss Nigerian entertainment on MTV Base

    AWARD winning rapper and actor Falz, music entrepreneur Olisa Adibua and Special Projects Consultant Edi Lawani were among a panel that discussed the challenges and future of Nigerian entertainment on MTV Base’s flagship roundtable show, Musicology.

    Others on the panel include Superstar Disc Jockey, DJ Kaywise; Co-founder/Business strategist operations for Nairabox, Jay Chikezie; Head West Africa ULIve, Bayo Fatoba and  Digital Media Manager for VIMN Africa, Adetola Adekoya.

    Hosted by VJ Ehiz, the new episode examined the prospects and challenges currently facing events and concerts in Nigeria. Discussing the nonchalant attitude of artists toward their performances, Falz, said: “Generally speaking, I feel standards of events and concerts have gone down. It’s almost like the consumer takes whatever is thrown at them. As a result, artistes have naturally become lazy.”

    Corroborating Falz, Bayo Fatoba, said: “We believe in creating experiences for artistes at ULive, it now depends on how creative the artiste is, in accepting what you have sold to them.”

    Creativity, financial constraints, quality control, consumer experience and research were some of the issues discussed at the panel session. And during the discussion about creativity as it concerns performances, promotion and ticket sales, Mr. Adibua asked the following “If from January to November, I see you at everybody’s show popping up here and there, then you say in December you want to do a concert, why would I come to watch you? What’s the value you’re bringing?”

  • Falz surprises fans at CBN concert in Abeokuta

    NIGERIAN rapper, Folarin Falana, aka Falz the Bahd Guy who was not mentioned in any of the promotional materials or listed among the performing artistes, made a surprise appearance at the CBN Concert in Abeokuta, ogun State.

    Jude Abaga, aka M.I however surprised fans when he introduced the actor/comedian/musician/ jack-of-all-trades, master-of-all.

    The show which was sponsored by Gulder and legend had a couple of highlights but this was definitely the scene stealer, as fans were left in shock when the rapper got on stage, leaving many stunned.

    The disbelief quickly turned to excitement as Falz set out to give the fans a night to remember, performing hit after hit.

    The rapper has been raddled with controversy since the release of his Moral Instruction E.P, but that didn’t stop him from giving a great performance.

    What is the thing that is common to music superstar, Davido, superstar social critic, Falz and Naeto C? Music? Yes, but what again? Pedigree, wealth and solid’ connections’ within Nigeria’s economic and political circles!

    Grass-to-grace stories are quite common and popular because many people believe those who are at the top started with nothing and got extraordinarily lucky.

    Yes. And of course, many of our style, music and sports celebs were also born into great wealth or into families with super ‘connections’.

    However, while it is true that there are people whose rise to the top were facilitated by the wealth and ‘connections’ of their parents or families, some of these celebs also had to work as hard as the rest of us. Some even work harder.

    DJ Cuppy

    The female disc jockey star is the daughter of the oil business magnate and philanthropist Femi Otedola and his equally popular wife, Nana. Her late grandfather, Sir Michael Otedola, was a politician and the former Governor of Lagos State. Although Cuppy’s music has only enjoyed mixed reviews, she’s got her fans and can be described as one of Nigeria’s rising DJs and musicians.

     

    Clarence Peters

    Cinematographer, filmmaker, music and video director, Clarence Peters, is the founder and CEO of Capital Dream Pictures. Clarence Peters grew up in the entertainment industry. Dad Shina Peters is a popular Nigerian musician and the creator of Afro-Juju music, while the mom is the famous Nollywood veteran actress, Clarion Chukwura.

     

    Davido

    The pop star’s story has a familiar ring. We all know that he grew up in a well loaded familly. The Omo-Baba-Olowo crooner is the son of Adedeji Adeleke, who is the founder and president of Adeleke University and CEO of Pacific Holdings Limited.

     

    Charlie Boy

    Charlie Boy, popularly known as Area Fada, is the son of late former Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa. He was meant to be a priest but left the seminary after a year. He was sent off to the United States of America to study Law just like his father had done but he ended up with a degree in Communications and later delved into showbiz.

     

    Naeto C.

    Hip pop star Naeto C’s mother, Kema Chikwe, is a former Minister of Aviation and she currently holds the position of National Woman Leader of the main opposition party, PDP.

     

    Falz 

    Falz was born to renowned lawyers Femi and Funmi Falana. His father Femi Falana(SAN)is a  human rights activist and lawyer. Falz followed in his parent’s footsteps having graduated with an LLB honors degree in Law from the University of Reading England but veered into entertainment after a short time of practice.

     

    Lynxx

    ‘Fine lady’ crooner Chukie Edozien, Nigerian rapper whose stage name is Lynxx, doesn’t need a day job but it turns out that he can live outside his father’s shadow. Lynxx’s father is Chief John Edozien, is first deputy governor of Old Delta State. A corporate tycoon, he’s the chairman of a number of Nigeria companies, including Jenkyns Consults Nigeria Limited and Mercedes Benz Automobile Service Limited. He has also served as director of Linkage Assurance Plc and Diamond Bank Plc.

     

    Kunle Afolayan

    Kunle Afolayan’s late father, Adeyemi Afolaya, popularly known as Ade Love, was a Nigerian film actor, director and producer. He was one of Nigeria’s greatest cinematographers. Kunle, who stepped in into his father’s big shoes after some years in banking, is one of Nigeria’s most successful movie gurus. He also stages exhibitions and educational projects for various governments, businesses and political figures.

     

    Shina Peller

    The CEO of Aquila Group of Companies and owner of upscale night club-Quilox Shina Peller, is one of the sons of Nigeria’s most famous magician, perhaps one of Africa’s most renowned magicians, the late Professor Peller.

  • Singer Falz begins year with hit single, ‘Talk’

    Ace Nigerian singer and rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has started the New Year with the release of his single tagged “Talk”.

    The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the video of the song, which is directed by Prodigeezy, features Falz driving alongside his guys with different scenes relating to the lyrics played out.

    ‘Talk’ is a socio-conscious record that addresses critical happenings and advises the youths to be wary of ‘greedy politicians.’

    As the 2019 general election draws near, the artiste uses lyrics of the song to address critical leadership issues and advised Nigerians, especially the youths, to speak up for what they truly want.

    Falz, now popularly known by industry watchers as a ‘Music Activist’, had earlier hinted fans that he would release an album titled ”Moral Instruction” on Jan. 15.

    He said of the album: “There is a dire need for us to redefine the concept of humanity and morality.

    “There is a pressing need for re-education and re-orientation of the people, for this is the only way we can restore sanity.”

    NAN reports that Falz, a lawyer turned singer, began his professional career as a music artiste in 2009, and currently owns an independent record label called Bahd Guys Records.

    He is the son of Femi Falana (SAN), a Nigerian human rights activist and lawyer.

    The music artists came to limelight after his song “Marry Me” (featuring vocals from Poe and Yemi Alade) won him a nomination in the “Best Collaboration of The Year” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

    In 2018, Falz released a controversial audio/visual song “This Is Nigeria”, a mock-up of American rapper Childish Gambino’s “This Is America”.

    It addresses societal issues prevalent in Nigeria, including SARS brutality, codeine abuse, and killings in some parts of the country.

    The video of the song highlights the nation’s issues especially violence and corruption in politics, policing, and religious bigotry.

    The song was, however, banned by National Broadcasting Commission

  • Falz, others react as Adekunle Gold, Simi wed

    Musicians Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana and Ric Hassani have joined fans to react to the ongoing wedding between Adekunle Gold and Simisola Ogunleye.

    News of the wedding between the two music stars broke on Wednesday morning causing a frenzy on social media.

    Reacting to the news, Falz shared a video (gif) of a young girl with tears running down her cheeks on his Twitter page @Falzthebahdguy which fans found funny.

    At the time of this report, Adekunle Gold, Simi and Falz are the top three trends on Twitter as fans have taken to the social network to congratulate the couple and express their surprise.

    Simi and Adekunle Gold’s continuous denial of their relationship left fans confused until a picture showing them kissing during her sold-out Lagos concert was released few weeks ago.

    Falz was not left out of the discussion as relationship rumours between him and Simi sparked in 2015 after they worked on the hit song ‘Soldier’.

    NAN reports that speculations intensified in 2016 when they released the joint album, ‘Chemistry’ with controversial and intimate cover art.

    Meanwhile, ‘Gentleman’ crooner, Ric Hassani reacted to the news in an Instagram comment via his page @richassani.

    He said, “They have been dating years before you all knew what was going on. I have known each of them about ten years now. Privacy is the best.”

    Also, fans of the two singers have flooded social media with congratulatory messages while they draw lessons from the privacy and simplicity of the relationship.

    @Sire__Iretomiwa said, “Congratulations to Adekunle Gold and Simi on their wedding today. God bless your union.”
