    Why I’ve fears about marriage – Falz

    Rapper Falz has opened up about his concerns with marriage in a recent podcast episode, ‘Unpack’.

    As a public figure, he expressed uncertainty about what a successful marriage would look like for him, citing the challenges of maintaining a healthy family life under constant scrutiny.

    Falz, who has been single for a while, said he is hesitant to take the plunge due to his indecision about the ideal relationship dynamic.

    He highlighted the difficulties of navigating public versus private relationships and the impact on celebrity marriages.

    “I’m not married. I have been single for a while now. Maybe I should just try marriage. I don’t know the ideal relationship. Maybe that is one of the reasons I am not bothered to try. When I say I am bothered, I don’t know what the ideal setup would look like.

    “Being an artist, being in the public eye, is it going to be public or coded? Or do you want to come out as a famous couple? I think these things are difficult to navigate. 

    “This is one of the biggest reasons entertainers do not get to have healthy family life. It is tough. It will always come out one way or the other. I might do it and run it coded,” he said.

    Falz reflects on collaborating with Adekunle Gold on Who Go Pay

    Falz has shared his thoughts and experiences working with Adekunle Gold on their new collaboration.

    Falz, in a chat with The Nation, offered insight into how the collaboration resulted in a track that has been making waves across the music scene.

    Falz admitted that working with Adekunle Gold was a pleasant surprise. “Before the song, if I had been asked what kind of vibe I would feature Adekunle Gold on, I would never have predicted it would be this kind of vibe,” he said.

    Despite initial reservations, the two artists found their groove quickly. “As soon as we did it, I absolutely loved it,” Falz revealed.

    Speaking on lessons while working on his latest EP, Falz said “I learned that I can make music in ways I’m not used to. As a creative, you develop a system for writing and recording, and you get comfortable with that. Sometimes, it’s important to pause and step out of your routine. With these recordings, I had to do that, and I enjoyed it. Now, I realize I can make music outside of my usual methods.”

    Rapper Falz has emphasised the significance of self-care in maintaining happiness and overall well-being.

    In a recent interview on Osas Ighodaro’s Spa with Osas show, Falz highlighted his approach to self-care, stressing the importance of indulging in activities that bring joy and peace.

    “I think self-care comes in a lot of different dimensions, so it’s caring for your mind, caring for your body, and caring for your spirit,” he said.

    Falz defined self-care as caring for one’s mind, body, and spirit, and shared his personal approach: “For me, I would say that I try to soak myself in things that give me pleasure and put me at peace. Things that inspire me and keep me happy, you want to stay in a happy place; you don’t want to feel unhappy or like something is missing.”

    The rapper also acknowledged the challenges of ageing and encouraged Nigerians to prioritise their physical health.

    “The last couple of years have taken a toll; it’s just life. By the time you cross 30, you start to observe things about your body. It may be your stomach today, then your ear or knees, so you have to pay attention to your body”, he said.

    He stressed the importance of rest and sleep, stating, “If you don’t rest, you will collapse… Rest is very important, and so is sleep. You can’t cheat nature; and if you’re not well rested, you can’t function. Rest is very important and so is sleep,” he explained.

    Rapper Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz has opened up on his marital status and why he’s still single at 33. 

    In a recent interview with Naija 102.7 FM, Lagos, he revealed that he’s being cautious to avoid marrying the wrong person. 

    Despite his parents’ pressure, particularly his father, Femi Falana, Falz said he is determined to take his time. 

    He said: “I’m not yet married. I’m single to stupor. My dad expresses concern over my marital status daily. If I greet my dad good morning, he would say the morning will be good if you were married.

    “Both my mum and dad are deeply concerned about my status, although my dad pressures me the most. My mum is a bit calm now. It seems like she has passed the baton to my dad. No one can pressure me into getting married, not even my dad”.

    He mentioned that his last serious relationship was during his university days, and his celebrity status makes it challenging to find a compatible partner. 

    Falz emphasised that he’s not under pressure to get married, and his focus is on finding the right person by being careful and patient in his search for a meaningful relationship.

    “Currently, I’m not dating anyone. I’m a straight man. I like women. But for a while now, I haven’t experienced a serious relationship. I was still in the university the last time I had a serious relationship.

    “My lifestyle as a celebrity is difficult to find someone to commit to. Also, there are a lot of happenings in the industry that make having a booming career and a healthy relationship seem difficult. So because of that, I’m trying to be careful. There’s no issue. I’m just trying to be careful”, he added.

    Falz calls for musical diversity in Afrobeats

    Award-Winning Nigerian artist and activist Falz has raised concerns about the increasing monotony in the Nigerian music industry, urging for a return to the diverse sounds that once defined the nation’s music scene.

    “Music is starting to sound the same now,” Falz said in a recent chat with The Nation. “I’ve been reading a lot of complaints both from people within the industry and those outside it. It’s time for that breath of fresh air, that sound that would really take us back to what we know how to do best, and that’s to make different types of music.”

    Falz, known for his socially conscious lyrics, expressed disappointment over the current trend where artistes seem trapped in a cycle of producing similar sounds. “I don’t know how we got trapped in this era of chasing a certain type of sound alone. I think everybody will start to open their ears, especially after this project,” he added.

    Addressing the reasons behind this trend, Falz pointed to the influence of mainstream consumers. “I think it’s mostly pressure from the mainstream consumers. They seemed to be reacting to a certain type of sound and were crazy about it, so everybody wanted to make that sound. You can’t blame artistes, everybody wants to have a hit.”

    I lost money because of NLC strike, says Falz

    Rapper Folarin Falana, aka Falz, has revealed how the strike by the Organised Labour made him lose the money he spent organizing a video shoot due to his inability to fly back to Lagos. 

    Though in support of the action by labour, he stated that the strike made him stranded in Uyo as his return flight to Lagos was cancelled due to the closure of airports. 

    Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, embarked on an indefinite strike on Monday to force the government to agree on a new minimum wage for workers and reevaluate the increase in electricity prices for certain consumers.

    The rapper, however, said he understands the reasons for the strike, adding that he is in support of the labour unions’ demands.

    Speaking in a video message shared via his Instagram account, Falz said: “I woke up this morning, set out for the airport only to hear that the airport is closed, all the flights are cancelled because of the strike action. I can’t make it to Lagos, now stuck in Uyo.

    “It affected me because there is a video shoot I’m supposed to do in Lagos today, I ended up losing money because we have already booked stuff, so we are going to have to pay another amount. Despite the fact that it really affected me, I understand the reason for the strike and I’m with them. I am with the labour. In fact, this strike is supposed to happen earlier than now.”

    Popular rapper Folarin Falana, aka Falz, has claimed he was once approached to be a sperm donor by a known person.

    He said he refused because he knows the person and cannot pretend not to be the father when the baby comes.

    The ‘Soft Work’ crooner disclosed this while appearing as a guest in the latest episode of the ‘I Said What I Said’ Podcast.

    Falz said: “Someone has asked me to be a sperm donor before. She said, ‘Just donate sperm, you don’t need to worry about parenting.’ I said, ‘You are joking.’

    “I refused. It is a bit of a joke, like I know who you are and I would just close my mind [pretend]?”

    Popular rapper Folarin Falana aka Falz has defended Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi over the cyberbullying targeted against him. 

    The Nation reported Iwobi has faced heavy criticism on the internet by Nigerians following his alleged poor performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday.

    Defending the player, Falz stated that every player that puts on green and white to represent Nigeria at the AFCON match made a sacrifice and does not deserve to be treated badly.

    Sharing Alex Iwobi’s picture on his Instagram page, the rapper kicked against cyber-bullying, while expressing his love for the player.
