EPL: Wilson stuns Chelsea as Fulham claim 2-1 win under Rosenior

New Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior watched from the stands as Harry Wilson’s strike condemned his team to defeat against west London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Rosenior was not appointed in time to take charge but took a watching brief and may have feared the worst when Marc Cucurella was sent off early on.

Chelsea fell behind to Raul Jimenez’s header after 55 minutes, but Rory Delap levelled after the ball rebounded off the post from a corner routine.

With nine minutes remaining, Wilson beat Jorrel Hato with a smart touch just inside the penalty area before half-volleying the ball into the left corner beyond Robert Sanchez.

However, under caretaker manager Calum McFarlane, Chelsea had been left with a mountain to climb from the 22nd minute when Cucurella pulled down Wilson and was shown the red card for a professional foul.

It was Chelsea’s eighth dismissal of the season, including one for former boss Enzo Maresca who was deemed to be over-celebrating in October after a last-minute winner against Liverpool.

There was anger in the away end, with a ‘BlueCo out’ banner displayed and chants against the ownership as they watched on alongside their new appointment Rosenior.

Defeat means Chelsea fall to seventh place in the Premier League, below Brentford, while Fulham join them on 31 points from 21 games.

AFCON 2025: Fulham ‘ll miss Iwobi, Chukwueze badly, Says Silva

Fulham head coach Marco Silva has expressed frustration following the imminent departure of Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The trio were named in Nigeria’s squad for the competition by head coach, Eric Chelle on Thursday.

Iwobi, Chukwueze, and Bassey would be away for around one month should the Super Eagles make it to the final of AFCON 2025.

The biennial competition will run from Sunday, 21 December, 2025 to Sunday, 18 January, 2026.

The three players have been exceptional for Fulham this season.

Silva believed they would be greatly missed during their absence.

“We are talking about three starting XI players. We know Alex is a key player in any position he plays. The importance of Calvin, and what Chukwueze has been doing in recent games. You have to find solutions. If you know any other way to handle it [AFCON], let me know.”

Victor Boniface has been ruled out of Werder Bremen’s final home game of the year against VfB Stuttgart due to injury, DAILY POST reports.

Boniface, according to Bremen head coach Horst Steffen, is currently battling a knee injury.

Steffen declared that he is not certain the Nigeria international will play again for the club this year.

“It happened in a challenge, knee to knee, and it really hurt,” Steffen told the club’s official website.

“Unfortunately, the recovery hasn’t been as quick as we’d hoped. I can’t yet say whether he’ll be available for us again this year.”

Boniface joined the Green and Whites on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

The 24-year-old has registered two assists in 11 league outings for Bremen this season.

Fulham lose to Newcastle as Iwobi marks 300 appearances in EPL

Fulham lost to Newcastle at the St. James Park in the English Premier League.

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes scored a dramatic late winner as Fulham’s losing run continued at St James’ Park.

It looked like Newcastle were going to have to settle for a share of the spoils against injury-hit Fulham.

But in the 90th minute Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno could only parry substitute William Osula’s shot into the path of Guimaraes and the midfielder took full advantage to fire home from close range.

Nigerian international and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi also marked his 300th game in the English Premier League in the game.

The 29-year-old played 100 games for Arsenal, 123 games for Everton and 77 games for Fulham becoming the fifth African player to mark the achievement.

EPL: Chelsea top of league table after beating Fulham 2-0

Striker Joao Pedro continued his scoring streak as Chelsea benefited from controversial refereeing decisions to beat rivals Fulham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Joao Pedro headed the opener in first-half injury time to score his fifth goal in five starts across all competitions since his £55m move from Brighton, with midfielder Enzo Fernandez scoring a second-half penalty.

However, referee Robert Jones took centre stage after making several controversial decisions.

The first ruled out Fulham midfielder Josh King’s goal in the 21st minute. His team-mate Rodrigo Muniz was judged to have stepped on Trevoh Chalobah in the build-up by the video assistant referee (VAR) Michael Salisbury.

Jones confirmed the decision after viewing the pitchside monitor but there appeared to be minimal contact in what also looked a natural action by striker Muniz, while playing with his back to goal.

Joao Pedro further punished Fulham, who dominated the first 45 minutes, by scoring a header from Fernandez’s corner with the final action of the half.

Fernandez then scored from the penalty spot to seal victory after Ryan Sessegnon was judged to have handled the ball in the penalty area.

It was a difficult decision for the officials but again went in Chelsea’s favour as Fulham manager Marco Silva fumed at referee Jones.

Chelsea secured an important victory before the international break despite losing striker Liam Delap to a hamstring injury early in the first half.

    Everton dent Fulham’s European hopes

Everton dealt a hammer blow to Fulham‘s hopes of qualifying for Europe by coming from behind to win at Craven Cottage.

Striker Beto and defender Michael Keane found the back of the net within three minutes of one another to give the Toffees their second win in 11 Premier League matches.

Fulham, seeking to keep pace with Brentford and Brighton in pursuit of a European spot, took a 17th-minute lead when Mexico striker Raul Jimenez headed in Emile Smith Rowe’s cross.

Marco Silva’s side dominated the opening half, coming close to doubling their lead through Harry Wilson’s low effort, which was well saved by England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. But Everton went into the break level after Vitalii Mykolenko’s tame effort from the edge of the box took a deflection off Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira and wrong-footed goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

EPL: Aston Villa beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage

Ollie Watkins scored his fifth Premier League goal of the campaign to help Aston Villa continue their fine start to the season with victory over Fulham as both sides were reduced to 10 men.

Fulham took the lead when a long punt from Bernd Leno was chased down by Raul Jimenez and he won a tussle with last man Pau Torres before striking a left-footed shot low into the corner of the net.

Villa got themselves back on level terms four minutes later when a 20-yard shot from Morgan Rogers took a big deflection off Calvin Bassey and wrong-footed Leno.

Fulham were awarded a penalty shortly before the half-hour mark after Matty Cash was deemed to have blocked a Jimenez header back across goal – but Andreas Pereira’s tame low effort was saved by Emiliano Martinez.

Villa seized the initiative on the hour when England striker Watkins peeled away from Emile Smith Rowe and powerfully headed in a Youri Tielemans corner.

Fulham’s afternoon from that point only went from bad to worse as defender Joachim Andersen was sent off for dragging down Watkins before Issa Diop clumsily turned a low cross from Lucas Digne into his own net.

The only sour note for Villa was the dismissal of substitute Jaden Philogene, who was sent off for a second yellow card after he fouled Reiss Nelson in injury time.

Villa’s victory lifted them up to fifth in the table and gave them their best start to a Premier League campaign after eight games since 1998-99.

  • Fulham set to sign Crystal Palace defender Andersen

Fulham set to sign Crystal Palace defender Andersen

Fulham are set to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen for about £30m.

The Cottagers have pursued Andersen throughout the summer transfer window and had a bid rejected as Palace sought a fee close to £40m.

However, a deal has been agreed and the Denmark defender will have a medical on Wednesday before completing a return to the club he played for on loan in the 2020-21 season.

The 28-year-old made 112 appearances for the Eagles since joining from Lyon in the summer of 2021.

There has also been interest in Andersen’s centre-back partner Marc Guehi from Newcastle United and chairman Steve Parish said it would be “unlikely” the Eagles would let both players leave.

The Magpies have made three offers for Guehi, with the third bid understood to be about £60m.

Guehi was one of the standout performers for England at Euro 2024 and played six of the seven games in the competition, only missing the quarter-final through suspension.

Both players started Palace’s opening Premier League game against Brentford on Sunday.

Fulham fight back to grab draw in six-goal thriller

Rodrigo Muniz scored with a spectacular injury-time bicycle kick as Fulham came back from two goals down to deny bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United a vital victory.

In the third of 14 scheduled additional minutes at the end of regulation time, Muniz connected with Adama Traore’s cross in an incredible second half at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United threw away a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 at Bournemouth last time out and the Blades let slip another glorious winning chance, having been 3-1 ahead at the 86-minute mark.

But Fulham substitute Bobby de Cordova-Reid made an instant impact by shooting into the net from 25 yards to set up a frantic finish before Muniz grabbed his eighth goal in eight games.

The Blades had looked on course to secure what would have been only their fourth Premier League win of the season and went ahead through Ben Brereton Diaz, on loan from Villarreal, in the 58th minute.

Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo had given the ball away and Oli McBurnie produced an excellent cross from the left with the outside of his right boot, with Brereton Diaz converting.

EPL: Fulham beat Brighton 3-0 at Craven Cottage

Fulham saw off a potentially distracted Brighton, who have a Europa League tie against Roma on Thursday, in the Premier League at Craven Cottage.

Harry Wilson beautifully curled in the opener to set Fulham on their way following tenacious work from Rodrigo Muniz to win the ball high up the field.

It was roles reversed for the second as Wilson returned the favour when delivering a teasing ball for Muniz to convert with his head from six yards out. It was his fifth goal of the season, with all of those strikes coming in the past five games.

Despite there being two goals in the first half, there were large periods of meandering and dull football, with Brighton enjoying 70% of possession but struggling to create meaningful chances.

The game opened up and became a more exciting spectacle at both ends after half-time as Brighton brought on attacking duo Simon Adingra and Ansu Fati and committed bodies to the attack in search of a route back into the game.

Evan Ferguson had two big opportunities to score, with his first effort rolling agonisingly wide of the far post and his second well saved by a sprawling Bernd Leno, while substitute Facundo Buonanotte struck the base of a post.

With every Brighton outfield player in opposition territory as the game ticked into additional time, Fulham won the ball on the halfway line through Bobby de Cordova-Reid, who raced forward and squared for Adama Traore to score his first goal for the club.

Fulham stay 12th in the table and Brighton drop to ninth.
