    Nollywood actor and director, Tobi Makinde has taken to his social media account to felicitate with his senior colleague, Funke Akindele and the entire crew and casts of ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ movie. 

    Tobi who played the role of Shina, aka Shinene, one of Funke’s sons in the movie has praised the seasoned actress to have successfully carved her name on the rock that can never be erased. 

    The Nation reported that ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ has set a new record as the first Nigerian film to hit N1 billion gross at the box office.

    ‘Congratulations to a record breaker, pacesetter’, Juliana Olayode hails Funke Akindele

    Celebrating the success of ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ in the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood actress and author Juliana Olayode, also known as Toyo Baby, expressed joy on her social media platform. 

    She attributed the movie’s achievement to divine grace, emphasising that Funke Akindele’s dedication, coupled with hard work, played a significant role in its success.

    The Nation reported that the blockbuster movie has set a new record of N1billion at the box office, making Funke beat her own records consecutively.

    Praising the mother of two, Juliana calls her the record breaker, an amazon, a queen and a pacesetter.

    Funke Akindele unlucky in her personal life but she is dogged, resilient – Kate Henshaw

    Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has described Funke Akindele as a dogged and resilient individual who wouldn’t relent or cry over spilled milk, despite failing in some aspects of her personal life.

    Recall that Funke Akindele’s first marriage to a businessman Adeola Kehinde Oloyede on May 26, 2012, didn’t last as they divorced within a year, citing irreconcilable differences.

    Her second marriage was in 2016, to a Nigerian singer, JJC Skillz, of which they welcomed twins in 2018.

    However, JJC Skillz confirmed his divorce from the movie star in June 2022.

    The movie star also engaged in Nigerian politics in 2022 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Lagos state deputy governorship candidate but failed.

    However, in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jidonwon, Kate Henshaw said Funke has remained resilient and dogged, irrespective of her challenges.

    “Funke is resilient, dogged, she has not been lucky in her personal life”, she said in part.

    Kate said she is thankful to God that Funke didn’t allow her personal life to distract her from achieving tremendous success in her career.

    God shames critics of Funke Akindele’s ‘A Tribe Called Judah’, says Juliana Olayode

    Nollywood actress, Juliana Olayode popularly known as Toyo Baby has continued to hype her senior colleague, Funke Akindele’s blockbuster movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’, while testifying to God’s faithfulness in the movie’s current success.

    Recall, Funke’s movie, hit a huge milestone and is on its way to break Battle on Buka Street record, Funke Akindele’s previous production, with N613 million in just two weeks.

    Sharing the exciting news, Juliana noted how a film critic wrote an article trashing Funke Akindele’s movie and recommending his readers not to watch it, yet the movie keeps shattering records in the cinemas.

    In a post on her Instagram page, she pointed out the critic said the movie isn’t recommended yet God keeps showing up and showing off for them. Juliana stated that evidence full ground as she expressed gratitude to her Maker for the new feat.

    In a message to Funke, she told her to take her crown as the Box office Queen.

    She said: “613 million in two weeks!!! In fourteen days!!!! Not recommended but God keeps showing up and showing off with A Tr!be Called Judah!!!!! Evidence full everywhere!!!!! My God, I’m so happyyyyyyyy, just look at this, look at this God!!!!!

    In a follow-up post, she expressed gratitude to Funke Akindele for giving her a shot in her movie, as she expressed how happy she is to be a cast in the movie.

    Funke Akindele, a popular Nollywood filmmaker, has broken another record in the film industry with her latest cinema release, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’.

    She is maintaining this feat after breaking multiple records in the past with ‘Omo Ghetto the Saga’ and ‘Battle on the Buka Street’.

    The Nation reported that Funke’s new release came out on December 15th, 2023.

    The actress announced her success on Instagram with an appreciation post to God, the cast and crew of A Tribe Called Judah, and her Nigerians.

    She expressed pride in her work claiming she made an ultimate cinematic triumph in 2023.

    Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede, has recounted her experience working with her senior colleague, Funke Akindele, on the recently released movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’.

    Yvonne, during an interview with Legit, said working with Funke on the new movie took her to a new level of understanding and knowledge about filmmaking.

    The movie star made alluring comments about Funke, stating she is an ‘insane’ filmmaker who perfectly holds every part of the production while on a movie set.

    Yvonne Jegede further stated that she holds Funke in high esteem and would be unable to address her by name without adding ‘Big Sis’.

    The thespian noted she has no plan to emulate Funke Akindele’s feats in the cinemas because it is too capital-intensive, and she doesn’t have that type of money.

    She said: “It was a great and awesome experience working on this project. It was something different from what I had been doing, and I loved it.

    “When you see her on TV, you would think, oh, she loves to have fun, play around, dance and be goofy. Haaaa! that’s a lie o she’s a mad woman (screamed). She’s a very serious person when she’s onset. And I think that made my respect for her go really high. Now, I can’t even call her Funke to her face I have to call her big sis because my respect for her has doubled. She’s an insane filmmaker.

    “Every department she holds down is done to perfection. And I think this is because she overprepares before she comes on set, so she knows every single thing; every department is inside her brain. To be honest, she’s good.”

    Funke Akindele showcases class, elegance in A Tribe Called Judah

    Arriving in a gorgeous golden Tinkerbell costume, popular Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele recently premiered her latest movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ on Sunday December 10 at the Filmhouse Cinema IMAX, Lekki.

    The movie hit the cinema screens on Friday, December 15.

    The colourful premiere night was filled with several actors, actresses, and entertainment stars that include Cute Abiola, Broda Shaggi, Sydney Stalker, Officer Woo, Woli-Agba, Odunlade Adekola, Denrele Edun, Muyiwa Ademola, Ini Edo, Juliana Olayode aka Toyo Baby, Deyemi Okanlawon, Ruth Kadiri, among others. The star-studded premiere themed ‘Costume Party Extravaganza’ lived up to expectations as Funke Akindele led with her fairy princess appearance.

    ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ is directed by Adeoluwa Owu aka Captain Degzy and explores the story of a family of boys who decide to rob a small mall with the help of their mother. However, on getting there, they are faced with armed robbers.

    The film features Funke Akindele, Boma Akpore, Ebele Okaro-Onyiuke, Etinosa Idemudia, Fathia Balogun, Jide Kene Achufusi, Nse Ikpe Etim, Olayode Juliana, Olumide Oworu, Paschaline Alex, Timini Egbuson, Tobi Makinde, Uzor Arukwe, Yvonne Jegede, and Genovevah Umeh, among others.

    Speaking about the movie, Akindele said: “The story is so dear to my heart. It has a part of my late mum in it, and it represents the struggles faced by many single parents and mothers in society. There’s often a stigmatisation surrounding women who have children out of wedlock. They get labelled with unprintable names with the assumption that their children will amount to nothing. The film also sheds some focus on rebellious children. When they start out being rebellious, their families tend to give up on them. However, it is important to look for something special in your child; help them nurture their talents, and they will become great with it.”
