Don’t distract Ganduje, Nasarawa governor  warns APC members

The Chairman of the North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum and Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule has warned against any distraction of the Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party.

He said this on Friday when he paid a solidarity visit to Ganduje and other members of the NWC at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

The Nasarawa governor who said the leadership of party is concerned about the on goings in the party, especially in the North Central geo-political zone, maintained that party members should desist from distracting the national leadership of the party.

“I am here also to pay my respect to a man that deserves respect, our National Chairman, Dr. Ganduje. He deserves respect and deserves all the cooperation, especially at a time like this. In the next couple of weeks, we have an election in Edo. So the man does not need to be distracted in any other way so that we can go and win our election in Edo and that is one of the reasons why I came to encourage him to be focused.”

Admitting a crisis in one of the states in the region, Sule hinted that efforts were being made by the NWC to find a lasting solution to it.

“I am the chairman of the North Central Governors Forum. And in the North Central, we have a state where there are issues and we had lengthy discussions also on that. We want him as well as the National Working Committee to intervene and make sure that we resolve those issues.

“North Central has five out of six APC governors. So for that reason, we need to strengthen our zone. We cannot afford any kind of disagreement in our zone. And I have no doubt that if there is any gentleman who can work to resolve that matter, it’s a man who has been in several positions. A deputy governor, a governor, a chairman, in fact so many other positions that he has been.

“So for that reason, I came to pay my respect to the father of the party.”

Commending the governor, the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru used the visit of the of the governor to shed more light on the party’s forthcoming National Caucus and the National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings scheduled for next month, maintained that the two statutory meetings would be a non-elective meeting.

He dispelled rumours making the rounds about the routine meetings, Basiru said, “People like to twist events. Immediately we put up notice when the President told us about his availability, we read in the papers that the meetings (Caucus & NEC) were about changing the leadership of our party.

Ganduje said: “If we win Edo, we will be getting an additional state for the party. It will be 21 states out of 36.

Ganduje lauds Ododo, Uzodinma over Supreme Court’s victories

The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has described the Supreme Court verdict affirming the elections of Imo state governor, Hope Uzodimma and his Kogi State counterpart, Usman Ododo, as testament to the confidence that the people of states have placed in the party and its candidates

The chairman in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Edwin Olofu, extended his congratulations to both governors on their resounding victories at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which upheld their electoral victories.

Expressing joy at the landmark judgment, Ganduje noted the court verdict was a reaffirmation of the rule of law and the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial system.

The two-time governor stated further that the APC is proud of the exceptional leadership displayed by both governors in their respective states, which has undoubtedly contributed to the overall progress in their states.

He urged the governors to continue their outstanding work in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of their states and to uphold the values and principles that the APC stands for.

The APC national chairman also acknowledges the support and resilience of the party members and supporters in the Imo and Kogi states throughout the electoral process and the subsequent legal battles.

Their dedication to the party’s ideals has been instrumental in this victory.

Ganduje: We’re not surprised about Enugu APC crisis

    • …Stakeholders re-affirm Agballah as state chairman

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said that the national leadership of the party was not surprised about the resurgence of crisis within the Enugu State chapter of the party.

Some members of the Enugu State executive council of the party had last month suspended the state chairman, Ugochukwu Agballah and three other executive members namely: Chief Augustine Alumonah, Deputy State Chairman; Emeka Eze, State Organizing Sec. and Mr Jude Aniogbo, State Treasurer over allegations of embezzlement and abuse of office.

They also appointed the party’s zonal vice chairman in charge of Enugu West Senatorial District, Alphonsus Nwafor, as its acting state chairman, while ratifying the appointments of Sunday Onah as acting state deputy chairperson, David Nwobodo as the acting organising secretary and Callistus Ngwu as the acting state treasurer.

However, addressing the stakeholders of the party in the state at the party’s state secretariat, in Enugu at the weekend, Ganduje, who spoke through the deputy national chairman (South) of the party, Chief Emma Eneukwu, said the crisis was not new to him and the national leadership of the party because there is a particular group of people that had been benefiting from instigating crisis in the state chapter of the party since inception.

According to him, if the crisis was serious, the party would have taken quick measures to address it.

He said: “I’m here to tell you that there’s no faction in Enugu APC. I’m the deputy national chairman (South) and nobody becomes a chairman in the Southern part of Nigeria without our authorisation.

“I made sure that the national chairman of our party, Dr. Ganduje spoke with our state chairman before I left Abuja for this meeting. So, even if he did not come, the national chairman, who I’m representing does not know any other chairman but Chief Ugochukwu Agballah.

“I’m a foundation member of APC and have noticed that since the inception of APC, there is a particular group that makes sure that APC does not thrive in Enugu State. They always go to the government house, and work hand in glove with the government house to demean APC in Enugu State and ensure that we don’t prosper well in elections. It has always been their stock in trade.

“So, when this (crisis) started, I was not surprised because it’s not new to me. And I must tell you that the national secretariat (of the APC) is frowning at it.

“If it were to be the first time, we would have taken it seriously. But because it’s a serial character of these people, the party is looking for a way to make sure that we stop it and it will never happen again.

“The national chairman said I should tell you that the APC national secretariat does not know any other chairman in Enugu State except Ugochukwu Agballah. We do not even know that there’s a crisis. It was only when I came to Enugu that I began to hear that there was a crisis.

“It is only the national secretariat of the party that recognises who is the state chairman and who is not. And I stand bold to say here that we recognise Ugochukwu Agballah as the APC chairman of Enugu State”.

The national chairman used the opportunity to advise aggrieved members of the party to always follow constitutional ways to draw the attention of the national leadership of the party to address their grievances against their chairman.

While commending the state chairman, Agballah, for his steadfastness, he also enjoined party members in Enugu State not to be distracted because, according to him, that was the main target.

Meanwhile, in a communiquê read to newsmen by Senator Chuka Utazi at the end of the expanded meeting of the party, the party announced the suspension of 20 leaders of the party from office for gross misconduct following their failure to appear before the Disciplinary Committee to state their position.

In the communiquê signed by Chief Emma Eneukwu Deputy National Chairman South (Rep. APC National Chairman); Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology; The Hon Ugochukwu H. Agballah, State chairman; Chief Augustine Alumonah, Deputy State Chairman, and others, the party listed the suspended members to include: Publicity Secretary, Michael Ezeanyanwu; Zonal Chairman, West, Alphonsus Nwafor; State Asst. Organising Secretary, David Nwobodo; State Asst Auditor, Sunday Onah; State Youth Leader: Peter Chime among others.

2027: I have no presidential ambition – Ganduje

The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed rumours suggesting he plans to run for president in 2027 under the party’s platform.

Reaffirming his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ganduje denied the authenticity of a poster circulating on social media that claims he will contest the presidency with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as his running mate.

In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Edwin Olofu, in Abuja on Sunday, August 18, Ganduje labelled the poster as entirely false and a malicious piece of fake news.

He accused elements within the Kwankwassiyya movement and other mischief-makers of creating the poster with the aim of sowing discord between him and President Tinubu.

Ganduje emphasised that the President is steering the country on the right path toward greatness.

The poster bearing bold pictures of Ganduje adorned in blue Babariga as APC Presidential candidate and Uzodinma in white attire and a red cap as his running mate has a title, “The Winning Team 2027. Vote APC 2027. For Nigerians, prosperity and human development.”

Protest: Yusuf to blame for Kano violence, says Ganduje

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has urged the Federal Government to probe the recent violent protest in Kano State.

He accused Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of sponsoring the protest to undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Reacting to allegations by the state government accusing the APC of causing the violent protests, Ganduje said the state government was complicit and should be held responsible.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, the APC National Chairman said credible intelligence revealed that the protest, which tragically turned bloody, was directly sponsored by Governor Yusuf’s administration.

The statement reads: “Contrary to the claim by the Kano State government suggesting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) sponsored the violent protests in Kano State recently, rather it’s the Kano State government that funded the protest to tarnish the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.

“It is alarming that a sitting governor would incite such chaos and violence within his state, putting the lives and properties of innocent citizens at risk.

“We strongly condemn this reckless and irresponsible behaviour, which is an attempt to destabilise Kano, undermine the peace and security of the region; more importantly to tarnish the good image of our President.

“We demand that the Federal Government, through relevant security agencies, immediately launch a thorough investigation into the Kano State government’s involvement in this unfortunate incident.

“The sponsors of this violence must be brought to justice to ensure that this does not set a dangerous precedent for other states.”

Olofu added: “We find the allegations that protesters looted and absconded with ‘sensitive documents’ relating to the ongoing witch-hunting under the guise of the corruption trial of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as baseless and comical.

“It is laughable that governance has been reduced to a huge joke in Kano State that the state government will condescend low to suggesting that demonstrators broke into a court and carefully selected documents relating to the trial of the APC National Chairman, handpicked them and took them away in this digital age; no discerning mind will buy into this pedestrian propaganda.

“What happened to the documents with the government lawyers? The state government is bereft of ideas on how to run the affairs of the state and has always resorted to churning out myriads of corruption allegations against the former governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and his family who served the state diligently.

“This claim is nothing more than a desperate attempt by Governor Yusuf’s administration to divert attention from their culpability in the violence that erupted in the state.”

“The insinuation that such critical documents could be carted away during a protest is not only far-fetched but also a clear indication of the state’s growing incompetence in handling both security and legal matters.

“It is a known fact that the day before the beginning of the protest, Governor Yusuf was grandstanding and telling people that he would join them if they wished to protest. But, unfortunately for him, the people hired by the state government to execute the protest against the APC government went haywire against their initial plan.”

“After leading them on, it’s now clear to all that his government funded the violent protest that occurred in Kano.

“Governor Yusuf should understand that the words and actions of leaders carry weight and have dire consequences.

“We stand with the people of Kano and call on all well-meaning citizens to remain calm and law-abiding while the authorities conduct their investigations.

“The APC remains committed to promoting peace, justice, and good governance across the nation.”

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Thursday, August 15, called on the federal government to investigate the recent violent protests in Kano.

He accused Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of orchestrating the unrest to destabilize President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In response to claims by the Kano State government that the APC was behind the violence, Ganduje countered that the state government should be held responsible for the violence.

According to a statement by Ganduje’s chief press secretary, Edwin Olofu, credible intelligence stated that Governor Yusuf’s administration was directly responsible for the violent protests.

The statement reads: “Contrary to the claim by the Kano state government suggesting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) sponsored the violent protests in Kano State recently, rather it’s the Kano State government that funded the protest to tarnish the image of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.
