  • AY, Gbenga Adeyinka, takes ‘Happiness’ to Nigerians

    COMEDIANS AY and Gbenga Adeyinka thrilled their fans, courtesy of Maltina, the brand, with a new initiative tagged ‘Happiness in the Little Things’. The brand  is set to bring happiness to the lives of everyday Nigerians.

    Running in series, the campaign will highlight different little moments in which people derive joy from.

    “Happiness comes in various ways and forms,” read a statement from the brand representative.

    “It could come from instances as random as getting back home after a long day and taking off those seemingly tight shoes, or from finding a charging point when your battery is one percent. It is that feeling when you find that last piece of suya after you thought it was finished.

    “No matter how personal or insignificant, Maltina seeks to urge Nigerians of the need to embrace these moments by connecting with them and amplifying its stance on sharing happiness.”

    In the past, the brand had given free Maltina to BRT bus commuters, partnered to host events like the AY Live, Gbenga Adeyinka’s Laffmattazz and Nick Fest.

  • Fans mob Small Doctor at Gbenga Adeyinka show

    Gbenga Adeyinka’s comedy show, Laffmattazz on Tuesday in Akure, Ondo State will not go down in a rush from the memories of residents in the state.

    The hit show was a combination of good music, great comedy and exciting games, courtesy Maltina, the official sponsor.

    Talented comedians and artistes like Koffi, Woli Arole, Woli Agba, Kenny Blaq, Reminisce, Sound Sultan, Faze, CDQ, Small Doctor, and many more graced the stage.

    Guests were excited when Small Doctor got on stage.They stood up from their sit to mob the rave singer.

    The talented singer treated the excited fans to not just good music, but some free cash. He threw some money in the air for his loyal supporters.

    He implored the bouncers and security personnel to let them have as much fun as they could.

    He was followed by CDQ, another fan favourite, who had everyone singing along.

    The show was closed with a mind-blowing performance from Reminisce, who sneaked on stage, to the excitement of everyone.

    It was indeed a successful concert that will remain talked about for a long time to come, as it is  one of the few concerts that have managed to sell out in the city of Akure so far.

    Gbenga Adeyinka tours southwest with Laffmattazz

    Comedian Gbenga Adeyinka has commenced a tour of the South West region with his rising comedy and music brand called ‘Laffmattazz with Gbenga Adeyinka 1st and Friends’.

    The comedian kicked off the tour on Easter Monday, April 16, 2017 at the Jogor Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State.

    The event featured a long list of comedians like Lepacious Bose, Kenny Black, Still Ringing, Omobaba, MC Tagwaye aka President Buhari, Ambassador Wahaala, Lafup, Tomiwasage, Peteru, Obama, Shete and MC Remote among others.

    Also treating fans to musical performances were artistes such as Dr SID, CDQ, Kcee, Harrysong, SoundSultan, Eedris Abdulkareem, Sir Shina Peters, Capital FEMI, Abisolanoni with a surprise performance by Mavins first lady, Tiwa Savage while DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Secxy and DJ Code showed their skills on the wheels of steel.

    “This is one thing that I have strived hard to achieve. I won’t lie to you, it has been a herculean task owing to several reasons but we thank God that with our formidable team, we have kicked off,” said Gbenga Adeyinka, who disclosed that the next stop after Ibadan will be on May 29, 2017 in Akure, Ondo State.

    “I have always wanted to bring out the best of comedy in the South West, knowing fully well that comedy is deeply rooted in this region from the days of our fathers who are without doubt legends of the trade, hence my decision to go on a tour of the region with my friends in the entertainment world.”

    One of the highlights of the show was the post humous honour bestowed on one of the South West’s famous comic, late Oladokun Muftau, popularly known as Alaran, whose wife and daughter were present at the show.

    “One of the things we strive to achieve with Laffmattazz is honour popular comedians in the region, who were mostly actors,” said Gbenga Adeyinka, adding that, “this we have done from Baba Sala to Baba Ajimajasan and a host of others.”

  • OJEZ TO HONOUR PETER RUFAI, GBENGA ADEYINKA

    THE maiden edition of the monthly O’jez Soccer Fans Nite Out will hold  at O’jez celebrity restaurant, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, at 7pm, during the UEFA Champions League final match between the two Spanish club sides; Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid.

    The event according to Chief Executive Officer of O’jez, Chief Joseph Odobeatu, is expected “to attract over 2, 000 soccer fans and is designed to create a platform for brands to have a one on one contact with soccer fans, showcase the activities of the Nigeria Premier League as well international football, promote peace, love and unity among Nigerian soccer fans and to appreciate, honour and celebrate Nigerian ex-internationals, sports media personalities, corporate firms and entertainers for their contributions to the growth and development of football and entertainment in Nigeria.”

    This maiden edition dedicated to Peter Rufai (Dodo Mayana), Mumuni Alao (Group MD, Complete Communications) and Gbenga Adeyinka will feature ball juggling competition, soccer game show, raffle draw, performances by top Nigerian artistes and presentation of awards to the recipients. And while Rufai will be honoured with the Soccer Personality Award, Mumuni Alao and Gbenga Adeyinka will get the Sports Media Personality and Entertainment Personality awards respectively.

    “It will be a night of music, dance, comedy and football all rolled into one,” Odobeatu said adding, “Top comedian Elder O, the master of spontaneity and his side-kick MC Phrymzo alongside other fast rising comedians such as MC Bonus among others will be on call to make football lovers rock with laughter while the O’jez, Classic and Lilly bands will take turns to dish out soul inspiring music. Dancers such as Crazy Legs, the physically challenged dancer, Scatter ‘N Sons, Ada Owerri, SDV among other dance groups will burn the stage that explosive evening. I can assure you that it will be an evening of high octane fun and entertainment.”

    On the choice of Peter Rufai, Mumuni Alao and Gbenga Adeyinka as recipients of the maiden O’jez Soccer Fans Nite Out award, Odobeatu said they were carefully selected because of the roles they have played in the development of sports and entertainment in Nigeria.

    Ibadan is set to reel with laughter this Easter as ace Comedian Gbenga Adeyinka brings back the fifth edition of his signature show, LAFMATTAZ, to the ancient city.

    The show which is tagged ‘The Legends, the Raves & I’ is scheduled to hold at the 5, 000 seat capacity hall of Jogor Centre on Easter Sunday which falls on March 27, 2016.

    The comedian with the moniker, Grand Comedian of Nigeria, GCON, will headline the show with other seasoned acts as well as new school sensations. On the Microphone to tickle ribs for the evening will be comedians like Alibaba, Bash, Omo Baba, Seyi Law, Lepacious Bose, Mc Ajele, Peteru, Still Ringing, Kelly Blind, SLK, Shete, Arole, Obama, Dr Smile, Dr Frick, Vitamin D, Rapindaddy, Olympia, Shem, Ojemba, Seeco, Mc Dannie B, Laffmattazz Crew and so on.

    The already confirmed New Generation music acts (The Raves) billed to serenade the audience for the evening are Dbanj, Small Doctor, 9ice, Jaywon, CAPITAL FEMI, SIMI, Keanzo, Dreamo, BKGMB, while trail blazers (The Legends)like Daddy Showkey, Baba Fryo, Tony Tetuila, Olu Maintain, African China and Artquake will be on hand to thrill audience to tunes of yesteryears that made them household names.

    There will be three Nollywood Guest Appearances at the event to be led by ace actor and former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Segun Arinze. Deejays are DjSecxy, and female DJs Nana and Macc

    Gbenga Adeyinka to host TheNiche unveiling

    Weeks after hosting campaign activities for Governor Rauf Aregbesola in the last Osun State governorship election, popular comic and master of ceremonies, Gbenga Adeyinka, will be helming the formal presentation of Nigeria’s exclusive Sunday newspaper, TheNiche.

    Scheduled for this Saturday, at the Orchid Hall, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, the comedian will coordinate the event that is expected to be chaired by former president of the Nigerian Academy of Science, Professor Anya O. Anya.

    Also expected at the event is Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, as Chief Host.

    Adeyinka, who is no doubt one of the most sought-after emcees, has promised to bring the magic associated with his performances on stage, TV and at formal events to Eko Hotel for the presentation of TheNiche.

    Highlight of the occasion will be a keynote address titled A New Nigeria is Possible which will be delivered by Minister of Information, Labaran Maku.

    Organisers say among the distinguished guests who have confirmed their availability for the event are, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha.

    Others are Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and Theodore Orji of Abia State.

    Also expected are business leaders, and celebrities from the Nigerian music and film industries.

    Winner of the 2013 edition of Next Movie Star (NMS), Akinwale Oluwa-feyisekemi Ayomiposi, has been presented with her grand prize of a Hyundai IX 35 SUV.

    Taking delivery of her car few months after she was declared winner, organisers of the show, Digital Interactive Media, reaffirmed that the promising actress will also enjoy three movies contract and cash prize of N200, 000 as overall winner.

    In the same vein, Ola Adebolu who emerged first runners up, received a cash prize of N200, 000 and a 32 inch LCD TV, while  Nwanma Odefa got a 24 inch LCD TV and cash prize of N100, 000 for coming third place.

    Also, Magreth Vaeveni Shikuyele and Chimezie Imoh, who took 4th  and 5th positions got N100, 000 each.

    The event which took place at the Troy Lounge, Lagos, was witnessed by dignitaries from all works of life, including the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akimade, who represented governor Olusegun Mimiko.

    Akinmade, while presenting the prizes to Feyisekemi eulogized her for her clear show of talent and discipline, during her stay in the NMS House which lasted for 30 days.

    Feyisekemi, a student of French Language at the Ekiti State University beat 18 other contestants from 10 African countries to emerge winner of the TV show.

    ORGANISERS of the maiden edition of the Southwest Leadership and Enterprise Awards have announced plans to honour individuals as well as corporate organisations in the Southwest of Nigeria, who have distinguished themselves in various sectors on Sunday, July 27, at Mauve 21 Events Centre, Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.

    In a release, Razak Adebowale, CEO of Softmark Communications, organisers of the awards ceremony, said: “It is established as a platform to recognise and honour deserving individuals and corporate entities in the Southwest region of Nigeria, whose efforts and activities have contributed to the transformation and development of the lives of the people of the region in the areas of leadership and business.  After the nominees in various categories had been carefully selected by the selection committee, they were also subjected to confirmation by the expanded Board comprising eminent individuals drawn from different sectors of the society.”

    According to the organisers, a number of celebrities, including actor Olumide Bakare and comedian Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, will be honoured on the occasion.

    MDA: Artistes excite fans with new dance step

    It was a day of excitement and fun for onlookers when popular comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, ex- Miss Black USA, current Maltina Dance All (MDA) compere, Osas Ighodaro and standup comedian Laffup, alongside other dancers, took to the dance floor to showcase new dance styles known as Rhythm of Happiness Dance (ROHD) at the Atrium of the Silverbird Galleria in Lagos.

    The ROHD dance is a new easy to learn Hip-hop dance style that reflects contemporary pop culture. The new dance style is a prelude to the popular family dance show, MDA season eight tagged The Rhythm of Happiness.

    Gbenga Adeyinka and Osas Ighodalo, who are not known for their dancing skills, dazzled the audience with their displays. The video, which has already been uploaded on YouTube, has received thousands of views.

    Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc., described the dance performance as just “a tip of the iceberg from this season of Maltina Dance All.”

    He added that the show “is the foremost experiential and sponsorship platform of the Maltina brand renowned for promoting togetherness with friends and loved ones.”

    The TV show, which made its debut in 2007, has remained Nigeria’s first and only family dance TV show, featuring families from various regions across the country.

    Ekanem revealed that the winning family, this year, would go home with the grand prize of N10 million. The first and second runners up will also get N3 million and N1 million respectively.

    According to him, “this is a considerable increase from the N6 million, N1 million and N500, 000 won last year by contestants.”

    The show proper will be preceded by regional auditions, which will kick off in Port Harcourt at the Atrium Event Centre on July 18 and 19. It will later move to the National Theatre, Lagos from July 24 to 26 before berthing at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja on August 1 and 2.

    Curtains fall on Star Music Trek

    LAST Saturday, Star Lager, from the stable of Nigerian Breweries, drew the curtains on its 10 week, 10 cities pan-Nigeria music tour with a grand finale.

    The event, which held at Eagles Club, Surulere, Lagos, featured top Nigerian artistes, including Tuface, Tiwa Savage, Phyno, Olamide and Kcee, among others.

    Featuring energetic live performances, music, dance and comedy, DJs Xclusive, Neptune and Switch took turns to thrill the fans with explosive party mixes for the over eight-hour event.

    As comedian Gbenga Adeyinka teamed up with Laff Up as hosts for the event, the brand gave consumers the opportunity to go home with fantastic prizes at the pre-trek gig raffle draws, where various stars, including Tuface, Naeto C and Mr Raw, made surprise appearances to present the gifts to the winners.
