Following the successful hosting of the first leg of their shows on Easter Sunday in Lagos and Ibadan, ace comedians, Ayodeji Makun, alias AY, and Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, have commended Maltina, the premium malt drink from the stable of Nigerian Breweries Plc., for sponsoring their live shows.
Maltina had sponsored the shows under a new platform called Laugh Out Loud (LOL).
Obviously delighted about the sponsorship, AY said: “The AY Show has been received warmly by Lagosians as was evident with the huge turnout during the Easter show. I had laboured frantically behind the scene to make previous editions successful. However, with Maltina L.O.L coming to my rescue, we were able to give our fans nothing but a good outing. I prayed and waited for this opportunity because we have not had corporate sponsors in the past. The AY Live can only get better with Maltina in the mix.”
In the same vein, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, who hosted a successful Laffmatazz show in Ibadan, recalled that he had promised his fans in the South West to expect exciting moments with Laffmatazz.
“It was my desire to take comedy to uncharted courses in the South West of Nigeria. I was able to achieve this with the support of Nigeria’s number one malt drink, Maltina. This year’s show was awesome as 32 artistes rocked the stage in Ibadan. I am pleased with the collaboration of MaltinaLau-gh.Out.Loud,” he said.
The show’s glitz and glamour attracted people to the venues, as they came in various colours that depicted happiness and fun. It was also a time for bonding and connection, as friends, families and celebrities interacted and shared happy moments together.
The Maltina Lounge was a beehive of activities as the “happiness wall” became the centre of attraction, where guests were offered pens to express their true meaning of happiness. There were also booths, where cash was won and redeemed instantly. A specially built entertainment couch, where interviews were conducted was also part of the lounge.
One of the winners, Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu, applauded Maltina for connecting with consumers at various touch points. “I came here with limited cash, but now, I am richer,” she said.
The Senior Brand Manager, Maltina, Adewole Adedeji, said both AY Live and Gbenga Adeyinka’s Laffmatazz had confirmed their true positions as the biggest gathering that provides bonding and happiness for everyone.
It will be recalled that at the media briefing in Lagos a few weeks ago, both comedians had the opportunity to reinstate their pedigree in the Nigerian entertainment industry, where they maintained that Maltina LOL would heighten the relevance of their shows.
Among the musicians and comedians who rocked the stage in Lagos and Ibadan were Ursbebe, AY, Gbenga Adeyinka, I Go Die, Gordons, Elenu, Apkororo, Helen Paul, Funny Bone, Osama, Pencil, Ajebo, Shina Peters, Tiwa Savage, Kcee, Davido, J. Martins, Oritshe Femi, Ali Baba, Tu Face Idibia, Julius Agwu, 9ice, M.I and Laffup, among others.

ACE comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka, early in the week boasted that his upcoming show, ‘Laffmatazz with Gbenga Adeyinka and Friends’ which is set to be staged in the ancient city of Ibadan will be his best show ever.
The show which is coming up on Easter Sunday, March 31 at Jogor Center will see actress, Funke Akindele and Davido lead the collection of stars that will grace the event in different capacity.
Speaking further, Gbenga Adeyinka said his ‘boastful’ statement is not about the high number of stars gracing the event but the level of preparation he and his team are putting into it. ‘I know Funke Akindele and Davido are big so are the other stars coming but this show will be about the total package. I can assure you that you will see all the stars in different elements than you have never seen them before. The level of preparation going into this is huge, I’ve never prepared for any show like this in my career. You know I’ve done quite a number of shows, this will be different, and shows in Ibadan will never be the same again’ he said.
Actress, Funke Akindele also revealed that she will be rocking Ibadan. ‘I will be bringing ‘art’ to stand-up comedy on Easter Sunday. My performance will be artistic and very funny. I have something special in mind on that day. You all should look forward to it. And I must add, Gbenga Adeyinka impresses me daily with his level of preparation. This will be a good show’ she concluded.
