Huawei unveils FusionSolar C&I Solution, 150K inverter in Abuja

Huawei has launched its FusionSolar Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solution and the much-anticipated 150K Inverter.

The event which held in Abuja was attended by industry leaders and experts, showcasing the latest advancements in solar technology aimed at driving sustainability and energy efficiency across Africa.

The launch comes at a time when the global energy landscape is shifting towards renewable sources.

Mr. Cruise Ni, Director of Huawei Digital Power Nigeria, outlined the significant strides made in solar energy over the past two years.

“The price of solar panels has dropped by 50% since January 2023, primarily due to a decline in the cost of raw materials,” Cruise explained.

He also mentioned the optimization of construction costs and the growing economic viability of PV technology in Nigeria.

Globally, solar energy continues to dominate the renewable sector. According to Cruise, “The annual storage capacity of solar energy reached 515 gigawatts in 2023, while energy storage system capacity hit 250 gigawatt hours worldwide.”

He added that the demand for solar energy solutions, particularly in regions like Africa where grid coverage is limited, continues to grow. The Energy Storage System (ESS) market in Africa has reached 1.3 gigawatt hours, driven by increasing electricity demand.

Mr. Jeremiah Ejirogene Aminode, Solution Architect at Huawei Digital Power Nigeria, emphasized the importance of focusing on safety, reliability, and engineering excellence in delivering stable electricity.

“The rise in diesel and electricity prices, as well as the rapid increase in battery costs, have made solar energy an essential solution for Nigeria’s energy challenges,” Aminode said.

He stressed the need for quality installations to ensure the long-term viability of solar systems.

During his presentation, Aminode also addressed the misconceptions surrounding solar technology.

He cited poor installations as a major deterrent for businesses and individuals in adopting solar energy solutions. “You can have a good product, but if it is not installed properly, it won’t deliver the desired results,” Aminode noted, referring to the challenges faced by industries in Cameroon.

The event featured hands-on demonstrations and presentations from some of the brightest minds in the industry, all centered around showcasing how solar technology can meet Nigeria’s energy needs while promoting sustainability.

Huawei’s new 150K Inverter, equipped with advanced AI technology and smart safety features, was particularly highlighted. It boasts higher yields, improved efficiency, and enhanced safety features, setting a new standard for the C&I industry.

The 150KTL Inverter derives two variants: the 2000 series, which does not require a PV optimizer, and the 5000 series, where a PV optimizer is mandatory. These inverters offer significant improvements in potential-induced degradation (PID) and active safety, with efficiency levels reaching 98.8%; the highest in the C&I sector.

As the Nigerian market grapples with rising energy costs and unreliable power supply, Huawei’s FusionSolar solutions offer a path towards sustainability and energy independence. With the price of lithium batteries and solar panels dropping, the company believes that now is the time to invest in solar energy systems that provide a reliable, cost-effective alternative to diesel generators and grid-based electricity.

The event concluded with a call to action, urging stakeholders to embrace solar energy as a means to secure a greener and more sustainable future for Nigeria and the wider African region.

  • Nigeria’s first green superstore, Justrite, PV and Energy storage system officially launched

Nigeria’s first green superstore, Justrite, PV and Energy storage system officially launched

Empower New Energy, in collaboration with its technical partners, Powercell Limited and Huawei Digital Power, announces the commissioning of a pioneering rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) plant and battery energy storage system (BESS) for Justrite Superstores, the leading neighborhood retail supermarket chain in Nigeria.

“Power is the foundation of industrial and commercial development in Nigeria. Renewable energy such as photovoltaic has ushered in the best development era. Huawei Digital Power’s unique value lies in its long-term R&D investment in digital and power electronics technologies, and always putting quality and safety first.

Justrite, Empower, Powercell and Huawei jointly build the first green superstore in Nigeria and even in West Africa. Huawei provides the high-quality, high-reliability, and high-security smart PV and energy storage system solutions, which will help many enterprises greatly reduce the cost of fuel and improve the stability and safety of electricity production,” said Chris Lu, Huawei Nigeria CEO & Chairman.

Huawei has launched a one-fit-all C&I solution of optimizer, smart PV inverter, ESS, and cloud management system with safety and reliability as the core, optimal electricity cost, and smart O&M. What are the business values and advantages of Huawei’s industrial and commercial smart PV and energy storage solutions?

Over the past decade, Huawei has shipped more than one million inverters worldwide, with an annual failure rate of less than 0.5%. Huawei inverters have the highest L4 intelligent arc protection and can shut down within 0.5 second after DC arc detection. Reliable and safe inverters are the important guarantee for sustainable power generation.

Optimizer enables zero voltage quick shutdown and Component-level optimization increases power generation by up to 30%

Those technologies protect the safety of the roof and ensure the safety of people and property.

Safety is always the main concept in design and manufacturing. For smart string energy storage system, the selection of high-quality cells requires a complete eight-month reliability test, including strict extreme tests and environmental tests etc., to ensure that all cells pass 100% safety and reliability checks. The energy storage system implements cell-level monitoring and AI-based data analysis to identify risky cells and ensure rack isolation. It also provides string-level monitoring and protection and special structural safety design.

Huawei always puts safety first, because safety is the guarantee for long-term system operation, the basis for the commercial value of PV and energy storage systems, and the foundation for personal and property safety.
