  • ‘Help! I’m like a stranger in my husband’s house’

“I’m a young lady of 23. I got married to my husband at the age of 20 while still in the university and i don’t have kids yet.

As a young girl i grew up with the mindset that all i needed in life was to get married to a rich man and I’m good.

However, as i grew older i realized that i wanted more out of life than to be a rich man’s wife.

I want to pursue my dreams and career. My marriage on the other hand is just full of one issue or another.

I’m not happy 95% of the time. The only advantage in my marriage is that i have comfort.

My hubby does not support my ambitions, he feels my only ambition in life should be to help him achieve he’s.

He doesn’t let me in on whatever plans or decisions he makes.

I’m like a stranger in my home because most times i usually hear things about him from outsiders or when he’s on the phone.

He doesn’t even trust me. He is very insecure and it scares me because he’s violent.

He used to hit me although I’m not totally convinced that he has changed for good. He always wants to make trouble when things don’t go his way.

He’s very controlling and abusive so much so that he made me believe that I’m nothing without him and i became depressed and suicidal at some point.

My hubby is very rich yet we haven’t had any sort of wedding whether traditional, legal or religious.

The only thing he did was just traditional rites and payment of dowry. And not a single document has my name on it, not even the cars i drive. He cheats and never takes responsibility for his actions. Oh! And he has a son with another woman. We have totally different views on almost everything.

Despite being married to a rich man I’m poor. He’d rather provide whatever i need than give me the money.

There’s a whole lot to talk about but let me stop here.

Here’s the issue, I’ve left this guy three times in d past and he comes back begging with a truckload of promises which he hardly fulfills, and every time i go back to him because i love him and I’m willing to make it work and also because I don’t believe in myself enough to succeed on my own.

    I’m so confused .”

  • Woman ‘splashes hot water mixed with pepper on husband’

A housewife, Mrs. Janet Mohammed, of Mandela, Minna, Niger State capital, has allegedly poured hot water mixed with pepper on her husband, Mr. Alaska Mohammed, after a brawl.

He said his wife became nonchalant about the boy’s running temperature.

Mohammed said his refusal to allow his wife take their son to church led to a brawl, which was subsequently settled by his mother.

“After my mother reconciled us, she told me that I would regret for laying my hands on her, but I ignored the threat. As I was watching television and taking my breakfast, she splashed the mixture on me,’’ he alleged.

  • Husband and wife

    Husband and wife

Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose is a newsmaker.  Interestingly, his wife, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose, is also interested in making news. Indeed, she grabbed the headlines as the New Year began.

According to a statement issued by her Special Assistant (Media), Gbenga Ariyibi, she made remarkable remarks in Ado-Ekiti during the New Year thanksgiving service. Mrs. Fayose was quoted as saying: “I want to plead with everyone, don’t hunt for the downfall of this government; don’t even try it. God is looking at you, and God is watching. Don’t hunt for the failure of continuity. Why? Because our God is a God of continuity, our leader is carrying the unusual grace, if you don’t want to be disgraced, don’t hunt for the downfall of this government, don’t hunt for the failure of continuity, I have said my own.”

Although she did not clarify what she meant by “continuity,” it was clear she meant that her husband and his ideas should not be challenged or opposed.  It is noteworthy that Governor Fayose had caused a stir last year when he named his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, as his successor. The state is expected to elect a new governor this year. Justifying his choice, he had said during a thanksgiving service to mark his third year in office:  “I wanted Kayode Osho, but the Lord said it is Kolapo Olusola and I had no choice but to obey.”

Could this be the continuity his wife spoke about?  Well, that may well be the case. But there is another matter, which may also matter. Last year, Fayose had declared his intention to run for president in 2019, boasting, “I can say expressly that I am well equipped in terms of knowledge, experience as well as physical and mental capacities to hit the ground running as soon as I assume office as President of Nigeria in 2019.”

Husband and wife seem to be on the same page.  The statement also quoted Mrs. Fayose as saying:  “God told me expressly years back that he needed Ayo Fayose in Nigeria. What brought about this is, I was praying that the trouble of this man was too much, that I want God to take politics away from his heart, to separate him from politics, that I have had too much, but God said leave him to me, he is in the hollow of my palm, I need him in Nigeria, it is not only Ekiti, that he is just passing through Ekiti State.”

What a couple!  They are together in the business of using God’s name to promote their interest.

“The incident (Omoku massacre) is condemnable and should be condemned by every right-thinking resident of the state. Rivers communities should not be allowed to become haven for blood-thirsty hoodlums.

“Rivers government must drastically re-engineer the security architecture and funding, to fight crime and stop the endless waste of human lives.”

  • ‘My husband tied me to tree’

A housewife, Fausat Akinola, has told a Grade `C’ Customary Court in Agodi, Ibadan that her husband of 15 years, Mr. Sarafa Akinola, tied her to a tree in front of their home.

The woman, a mother of three, was giving evidence in a divorce suit filed by her husband.

“My lord, I support the dissolution of our marriage because my husband tied me to a tree in our house.

“There was a day he threw me inside a cesspit. I was rescued by a neighbour.

“He treated me like a slave and was fond of beating me up whenever we quarrelled.

“Dissolution of the marriage is a freedom from brutality. It will save me from untimely death. I’ve packed out of his home,” the respondent said.

Sarafa told the court that Fausat was stubborn and disobedient.

He said the respondent and his three children packed out of his home to an unknown destination without informing him.

The petitioner implored the court to order the respondent to bring back the children so that he could take care of them.

He denied tying her to a tree.

“I did not throw her inside a cesspit,” Sarafa added.

Delivering judgment, the President, Chief Mukaila Balogun, said there was no basis to deny the divorce request, since both parties had agreed to end the union.

He dissolved the marriage and gave custody of the three children to the petitioner.

Balogun said the evidence of the respondent showed she will not be able to take care of the children.

He ordered the petitioner to take care of the children.
