  • Ighalo promises improved Eagles

Odion Ighalo has sounded Nigeria’s readiness for Iceland in their second game at the 2018 World Cup tomorrow at the Volgograd Arena.

On Saturday, in their opening match against Croatia, Gernot Rohr’s men conceded two goals and failed to trouble goalkeeper Danijel Subasic.

The loss saw the West Africans rooted to the bottom of Group D, thus, needing a good result against Iceland to stand a chance of nicking a place in the knockout stages of the competition.

And the striker hopes the team creates openings against Heimir Hallgrimsson’s men to help secure a favourable result.

“Our team spirit is very important to us. No matter if we win or lose, we are always united and thinking the same way,” Ighalo told FIFA website.

“We believe in this unity and we believe in our team. The Iceland game will be different from the Croatian one.

The three-time African champions reached the round of 16 at the previous edition of the tournament in Brazil and will be hoping to, at least, match the feat.
