Kaduna Utd FC warn supporters to stay out of its matches

The management of Kaduna United FC on Tuesday warned members of the supporters club to steer clear of its home and away matches.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the warning followed a three-year ban placed on the club by the League Management Company (LMC).

NAN reports that the supporters were banned for three years after attacking Heartland coach in a week six match in the ongoing Globacom Premier League.

Spokesman of the state Ministry of Sports, Zakari Isah, told NAN in Kaduna that all supporters should stay away from the match venues.

“The management wishes to disassociate and absolve itself from any unlawful activities the supporters may embark during the ban period,” Isah said.

According to him, security operatives will be notified for decisive action on any member of the supporters club found near the stadium on match day.

The spokesman added that the decision was not to antagonise the members who had been faithful to the club, but to ensure that the decision of the LMC was respected.

    LMC EXPLAINS KADUNA UNITED VERDICT

THE League Management Committee has explained the reasons for the decision to hand out bans and fines to Kaduna United. In a statement signed by Salihu Abubakar, and made available to futaa.com, the LMC said that: “Kaduna United is responsible for the conduct of their fans as provided for under Rules 115:16 and is therefore fined N250, 000 as a first offender to serve as an appropriate deterrent to all others” Abubakar wrote.

The Club was also held liable for access of unauthorized persons to Match Officials and thereby exposing them to danger. The LMC ruled that Kaduna United failed to secure areas leading to the Dressing Rooms thereby allowing unauthorized persons access to match officials, who were then exposed to potential danger.

“For this; Kaduna United shall pay a fine of N100, 000 and undertake to conduct a Supporters’ Enlightenment seminar to which leaders of their Supporters Club must be invited to before their next Home game. “This seminar must be observed and approved by the LMC. Abubakar informed that Supporters of Kaduna United are being reprimanded for rowdy behaviors after the match and have therefore:

“Have been put on notice of possible heavier sanctions should this type of behaviour repeat as envisaged by Rules 13:22”

KADUNA UNITED’S FANS BANNED FOR ONE YEAR

THE League Management Company (LMC) has banned the Official Supporters Club of Kaduna United from all league games for a period of one year. This follows a reported breach of security around Match Officials in Kaduna by members of the Club after the Match Day 6 encounter between hosts Kaduna United and Heartland FC.

Kaduna United have also been ordered to install or restore electricity supply and proper lighting in the tunnel and dressing room area before their next home game.

Failure to do this will attract a fine of N100,000.00 for each game, as long as this situation persist.

These decisions and others were taken after the outcome of the LMC’s examination of the Match Commissioner’s report and have been communicated via a letters signed by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the LMC, Salihu Abubakar.

He also added that Kaduna United will also pay a fine to the sum of N250, 000.

Irabor urges clubs to imbibe professionalism

Chairman of the League Management Company Nduka Irabor has hit out at Nigerian clubs urging them to be “more professional.”

Two Nigerian clubs, Enyimba International and league champions Kano Pillars, crashed out in the early stages of the 2014 CAF Champions League while another club, Warri Wolves, also fell at the initial hurdle of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Many blamed the failure of the clubs to progress to the latter stages of both competitions on the belated commencement of the 2013/14 Glo Premier League (GLO) season but Irabor argues that it is a “lame excuse”.

“I have heard lame excuses about the league not starting on time as being responsible for our clubs not doing well on the continent. That’s not true.

“Yes, the league started late. We (LMC) acknowledge that but also recall that the last winners of the CAF Champions League, Al Ahly of Egypt, had no league to play, yet they won the trophy.

“The truth is that our clubs need to become more professional. Whether or not the league is going on, they need to find ways of engaging themselves,” he told supersport.com.

The LMC chief added that the pre-season tournament organized in Abuja in January was aimed at helping the clubs get in shape for the competition.

“We knew the players of the clubs may be rusty as a result of inactivity hence we organised the pre-season competition.

“It’s unfortunate our clubs crashed out early but blaming that on the late kick-off of the league would be far from reality,” he said.

Bayelsa United are the only Nigerian club still left standing in continental competition this season.

El Kanemi boss hails LMC verdict on Bayelsa row

The leaders of the Maiduguri side have given thumbs up to the judgment of the league organisers after a landmark ruling in favour of his side.

El Kanemi Warriors’ chairman, Zannah Mala has hailed the verdict of the League Management Company (LMC) which ruled that their game with Bayelsa United ended 1-1 apiece among other punishments meted out to the Restoration Boys.

The Maiduguri side had stormed out of the match in Sapele in the dying minutes of the encounter after controversy brewed between the centre referee and one of his assistant referees over the eligibility of Bayelsa United’s second goal. The centre referee awarded the goal but the assistant referee was defiant that the goal was scored from an offside position.

The LMC later ruled on the botched league clash that the game ended 1-1 and also banished Bayelsa United to Abuja for their next three matches while El Kanemi were slammed with a fine of N250,000 and told to produce one of their players that assaulted the centre referee during the game.

Zannah said the LMC’s verdict in the disputed match showed that the organisers of the league mean well for Nigerian football but pleaded with the league body to tamper justice with mercy on the fine imposed on the club.

Zannah said: “We are relieved that we have got our point back after they thought they could deny us what was due to us. The LMC is doing well for the interest of the league and I can only commend those taking charge to keep up the good work. I also want to plead that they should be more lenient with the monetary sanction imposed on us.”

Meanwhile, El Kanemi defeated Lobi Stars 2-0 in a league match played at the Kano Pillars Stadium to improve their position on the log.

Goals from Obioma Arinze and Emmanuel Ajia in the 38th and 57th minutes handed crucial maximum points to El Kanemi Warriors.

THE LEAGUE Management Company (LMC) yesterday dished out far-reaching decision in the Bayelsa versus Elkanemi abandoned match of Last Sunday in Sapele.

The body did not only uphold the 1-1 scoreline as was exclusively predicted by SportingLife on Friday, but also banished Bayelsa United to play their next three matches in Abuja. Elkanemi on the other hand were fined N250,000 because one of their players pushed the referee in the course of the game. Aside from that, the Warriors were also mandated to produce the player that pushed the referee. In a reaction to the verdict, spokesman of Elkanemi, Anthony Obaseki said the club is still studying the decision and would issue a statement soon.

Officiating in Glo Premier League has improved — Association

The Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) yesterday said that officiating at the ongoing 2013/2014 Glo Premier League (GPL) has improved tremendously.

NRA Chairman Ahmed Maude told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the body would not rest on its oars in ensuring continued improvements in officiating. The league kicked off on Feb. 24 and is currently in week 4.

“I think our series of training and seminars are finally paying off but that is not to say that we will go to sleep, we intend to sustain this and even improve on it. I will attribute this to improvements in the commitment of the League Management Company (LMC); they have improved the welfare package of referees, which is laudable.

“LMC has promised to review match officials’ welfare packages by the mid season. These are the incentives that we have been clamouring for and I’m optimistic that it will only get better,’’ Maude said.

NAN reports that the body organised a fitness clinic on Nov. 5 2013 as part of preparation for the 2013/2014 league season.

    • Play home games at Krisdere stadium

Nembe City has been re-admitted into the league by the League Management Company (LMC) and will face FC Taraba in the week four Glo Premier League tie next week Wednesday.

The Yenagoa-based side missed three previous league games following their temporary expulsion from the 2013/14 league season.

Nembe City and Giwa FC, who were the only privately owned clubs in the elite division were expelled from the league after they failed to meet the compulsory registration requirements for the new season.

Nembe City was accused by the LMC for picking a stadium not approved and failed in the players’ medical reports sent to the league body.

But after interventions by the football stakeholders the two clubs were given another chance to play in the league.

The club’s Team Manager, David Ikputu told SportingLife that his team has been cleared to play again by the LMC having met all the conditions set for them.

“We want to thank everybody who stood by us during our trying time. Our sincere appreciation goes to the Minister of Sports, Tamuno Danagogo, the PDP chairman in in Rivers State, Felix Oboaha and sports journalists in the country. We’ve met all the conditions and we’ve been cleared to play again,” Ikputu told SportingLife.

Ikputu also told SportingLife that they will be playing their league matches at the Krisdere Hotel Stadium, Omoku, Rivers State starting with FC Taraba’s clash on Wednesday.

“I want to tell you that everybody is happy about the news and the players are in high spirit to play in the league again. We are ready for the FC Taraba tie. We are confident that we will get all necessary support in Rivers State.”

  • Nembe, Giwa’s suspension: We acted right, says LMC

Nembe, Giwa’s suspension: We acted right, says LMC

The League Management Company (LMC) has clarified that the decision not to register Nembe City FC and Giwa FC from participation in the Glo Premier League 2013/14 was neither arbitrary nor premeditated but was in exercise of its responsibilities to ensure fair play, transparency and compliance with registration requirements of the league.

“The decisions fall within the powers of the LMC as the First Instance Body appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Club Licensing Regulations for Globacom Premier League”, declared Harry Iwuala, LMC’s Special Projects Manager.

He made this clarification in a statement last night and said the decision was consistent with the responsibility of the LMC to protect every interest in the League especially the employees such as the players, coaches and others engaged by Clubs for various services.

According to Iwuala, “The LMC couldn’t have acted arbitrarily when we spent time and resources to organise a workshop last January to sensitise and prepare the Clubs on the imperatives of the registration requirements. We had a member of the LMC, Shehu Dikko and a legal practitioner familiar with the FIFA and CAF Club Licensing Regulations speak extensively on the requirements. It is apparent that the LMC had given enough notice to the clubs of its intent to apply the criteria for admission to the League fairly and without fear or favour”.

He further remarked that “It is very evident that the league commencement date had been delayed severally to allow for a break from the past, when clubs made a mockery of the registration process and denied the nation’s football of the benefits of a well structured league”.

The LMC, he argued, had merely applied existing rules which the clubs were to have operated over the years but had only amplified sections that have hitherto been applied in breach.

In his words, “For instance, in asking for a performance guarantee from the Clubs, the LMC has merely sought to enforce compliance with Article 1.5 (5) of the 2012 Regulations which requires all participating clubs to provide irrevocable letters of commitment from their owners confirming financial status and capabilities to play in the season. The sanction for non-compliance with this requirement is automatic withdrawal or deregistration of the club from the league”.

He further explained that the registration requirements implemented at this stage was to condition the Clubs towards meeting the more stringent FIFA and CAF Club Licensing regulation that has been adopted by the NFF and which will become operational from November 30, 2014.

“The NFF Club Licensing Regulations states clearly that it is the basic document for club licensing system, through which the different members of the football family aim to promote common principles in the world of football such as sporting value, transparency in their finances, ownership and control of clubs, players and coaches’ welfare, and the credibility and integrity of club competitions. It will ensure that clubs attain minimum standards required by FIFA and CAF for National Championship and Cup competitions,“ Iwuala said.

He then advised any aggrieved party to take its case to the NFF bodies responsible for appeals and who are the final arbiters in such matters.
