    Iheanacho rejoins Man City

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho took part in Manchester City’s training session on Tuesday after helping Nigeria  secure a 3-1 win over Algeria in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

Iheanacho featured for 90 minutes for the Eagles but failed to find the back of the net at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo as Nigeria won successive games to remain on top of Group B with maximum points.

The 20-year-old took part in Tuesday’s session at the Manchester City training ground as they prepare for their Premier League game against Crystal Palace this weekend under the watchful eyes of City manager, Pep Guardiola and his assistant, Mikel Arteta.

It was however a depleted squad that saw the return of injured players as The Citizens await players still on international duty.

Bacary Sagna has returned to full training after five weeks out with a hamstring tear and will be in contention for the game at Selhurst Park.

Tuesday’s session also featured Yaya Toure, who is also back in contention for a place in the City team after apologising for comments made by his agent, Dimitri Seluk.

Other first team players in training include Spanish duo of Jesus Navas and Aleix Garcia, Fernando Reges and Pablo Zabaleta .

•Iheanacho sees action for 49 minutes

Manchester City and Real Madrid played out a goalless draw in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

The home side shaded the first 45 minutes, but had to survive a strong finish from Real Madrid, who will now enter next week’s second leg at the Bernabeu as the favourites to make another European final.

Cristiano Ronaldo failed a late fitness test for Real Madrid, with a thigh problem preventing the Portuguese from featuring on his return to Manchester. Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, however, both overcame knocks to start.

It was Man City that made the brighter start to proceedings in the north of England, with Fernando and Fernandinho helping the home side win the midfield battle against a Real Madrid side that were a little untidy in possession of the ball.

The clock hit 20 minutes and neither side had come close to working the opposition goalkeeper, but Real Madrid were starting to make ground in a wide position as Bale and Vasquez saw more of the ball in dangerous positions.

Man City threatened during a five-minute spell in the build-up to the half-hour mark and De Bruyne had a powerful strike blocked by Carvajal as Real Madrid continued to concede possession in dangerous positions.

Bale decided to try his luck for the visitors 10 minutes before the interval after finding a yard of space, but the Welshman’s long-range strike deflected into the arms of Joe Hart, who had a very comfortable opening 35 minutes.

De Bruyne was the player making things happen for Man City in the final third, but Real Madrid’s defensive shape made it very difficult for the Belgian to release Aguero, who had a very quiet first half of action.

The biggest cheer of the half came in the 40th minute when Kelechi Iheanacho was introduced for the home side, but it was a big blow for Man City as Silva limped off the pitch with a hamstring problem.

The visitors made one change at the interval, with Jese Rodriguez replacing Benzema, who was clearly struggling with a recent knee injury in the opening half of action. It was Jese that went through the middle for Los Blancos, allowing Bale and Vasquez to keep their positions in a wide area.

Aguero’s first sight of goal came in the 47th minute when Fernandinho fed the Argentine outside the Real Madrid box, but the former Atletico Madrid striker’s effort flew over Keylor Navas’s crossbar.

Sergio Ramos had a free header in the 54th minute during a spell of Real Madrid pressure, but the Spanish international could only head a Kroos corner straight into the arms of the waiting Hart.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Iheanacho: Man City will fight to the end

Super Eagles youngster Kelechi Iheanacho has said that Manchester City will fight to the end to ensure that they secure Champions League semi-final at the expense of French side, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Goals by Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho handed Manchester City a 2-2 first-leg draw in Paris on Wednesday to give the English side the edge in their Champions League quarter-final tie.

With two away goals, Iheanacho who was an unused substitute believes that playing in the last eight for the first time in their history, Manchester City hold the upper hand ahead of the second leg.

“We will fight to the end”, the 19-year-old posted on his official Instagram page immediately after the game.

Iheanacho will be hoping to make his second Champions league appearance against PSG in the return leg after making his debut against Dynamo Kiev in February.

Iheanacho has nine goals in all competitions so far this term for Man City. He scored his first goal against Crystal Palace in September 2015 and then scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa in the highly competitive FA Cup for his team, Manchester City.

  • Yaya Toure hints on leaving Man City

Yaya Toure has hinted that he has already received offers to move to Inter Milan.

According to his agent, Dimitri Seluk, the Ivorian International is set to reunite with Roberto Macini.

Ivory Coast international’s representative says he has already received offers for the 32-year-old and has hinted at a move to Inter to be reunited with Roberto Mancini.

Seluk confirmed that Yaya Toure will definitely leave this summer, “ Yaya Toure will definitely leave this summer, I can calmly confirm that” he reiterated.

PELLEGRINI’S QUEST FOR NIGERIAN: Man City stop Iheanacho

    • To give ex-Eaglet improved contract

Manchester City would now hand Kelechi Iheanacho an improved contract after news emerged that outgoing boss Manuel Pellegrini wants to take the young Nigeria striker with him when he departs the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The Citizens, who had been comfortable about Iheanacho being forced to wait on an improved contract, according to SiaS sources, however, have no intention of letting the starlet leave and are confident they can quickly agree a vastly-improved five-year deal with the player.

The 19-year-old has three years remaining on his present £20,000 a week deal, but is currently in the middle of an ongoing dispute between two rival agencies who are both claiming to represent him.

Iheanacho has scored eight goals in 19 matches this season and recently scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 FA Cup victory at Aston Villa.

Sources said Pellegrini is expected to snub an offer to return as Chile national team coach in favour of managing a Premier League side and has been linked with the Chelsea and Manchester United jobs.

The South American took a gamble when he promoted Kelechi Iheanacho to City’s first team just before the start of this season, and the Nigerian has repaid his faith by netting eight goals from 19 matches across all competitions.

    ..Arsenal stop Sunderland

AARON Ramsey and Olivier Giroud scored as Arsenal started their FA Cup defence by coming from behind to defeat Sunderland 3-1 in the third round yesterday.

Arsenal were joined in round four by Premier League title rivals Manchester City, who won 3-0 at Norwich City, but Southampton and Newcastle United were both eliminated and West Bromwich Albion survived a huge scare.

Sunderland took a 17th-minute lead at the Emirates Stadium through Jeremain Lens, but Joel Campbell equalised eight minutes later before second-half goals by Ramsey and Giroud gave Arsene Wenger’s men victory.

Premier League leaders Arsenal are seeking to become the first team to win three FA Cups in a row since Blackburn Rovers between 1884 and 1886. A side showing five changes fell behind when Lens picked Laurent Koscielny’s pocket and fired home, but minutes later Theo Walcott teed up Campbell to tuck away the equaliser.

Substitute Ramsey made it 2-1 in the 72nd minute after a one-two with Hector Bellerin and Bellerin then teed up Giroud for Arsenal’s third goal four minutes later.

Manchester City strolled through at Carrow Road, where Sergio Aguero put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute with a driving run and emphatic shot.

Aguero set up 19-year-old strike partner Kelechi Iheanacho for City’s second goal on the half-hour and substitute Kevin De Bruyne wrapped up victory 12 minutes from time.

Southampton and Newcastle both fell at the first hurdle, but could at least console themselves that they were beaten by fellow Premier League teams.

Wilfried Zaha’s 68th-minute goal gave Crystal Palace a 2-1 win at Southampton, while Troy Deeney punished a loose back-pass from Georginio Wijnaldum to give Watford a 1-0 home victory over Newcastle.

5.7m Euros deal: Man City haggle over Kelechi Nwakali

Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that English Premier League moneybags Manchester City are haggling over the €5.7 million transfer fee placed on the head of Golden Eaglets skipper Kelechi Nwakali.

The Citizens have been tracking the performance of Nwakali since the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations and invited him to England after the tournament in Niger Republic to be shown around the club’s facilities.

If City had initially hesitated to sign the 17 – year – old, those doubts were ended once and for all after the teenager was awarded the Golden Ball at the 2015 FIFA U- 17 World Cup.

This website understands that his Nigerian Academy have inserted some performance – related clauses into the proposed contract that stipulates that Manchester City will fork out a hefty sum to the nursery team if Kelechi Nwakali makes his debut for the first team.

West Ham are the other English Premier League club being linked with a move for the central midfielder but are certain to lose out if it comes to a bidding war, given the financial muscle of the Etihad outfit.

Nwakali found the net three times in Chile, including two goals from the penalty spot.

  • Tottenham crush Man City at White Heart Lane

Tottenham Hotspurs crushed Manchester City 4-1 in one of the English Premier League matches played on Saturday.

Although Mauricio Pochettino’s men benefitted from some questionable decisions by match officials, they were deserved winners on Saturday.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring for City midway through the first half and there were suggestions that he was marginally in front of the last Spurs defender when Yaya Toure played him through, Goal reports.

Eric Dier pulled the hosts level in first half added time, although Kyle Walker was clearly in offside position before firing the cross that led to the equalizer.

Toby Alderweireld shot Tottenham ahead with a header from a looped free kick, before Harry Kane opened his goalscoring account for the season – although replays suggested he was also in offside position when he connected Christian Eriksen’s free kick which hit the crossbar and fell into his path.

Eric Lamela scored Tottenham’s fourth goal in the 79th minute to complete a torrid afternoon for the favourites.

Iheanacho wins Man City’s EDS Goal Of The Season

Kelechi Iheanacho’s first goal in Manchester City’s 3 – 1 win over Manchester United has been voted the best goal scored by an academy player last season by the official website of Manchester City.

Manchester City have posted on their official website the top ten eye – catching goals scored by the Elite Development Squad during the 2014 – 2015 season.

And in number one position is Nigeria youth international Iheanacho, who netted in the 55th minute in the game staged at the Academy Stadium on May 23.

The 18 – year  – old expertly turned his man in the center before slotting into the bottom corner. It was a goal of technique, skill and composure, mcfc.co.uk said.

Iheanacho failed to take that form to the Under 20 World Cup, having fired blanks in the two matches he featured in during the tournament in New Zealand.

Nigeria U-17 skipper Kelechi Nwakali is poised to join older brother Chidiebere  at English Premier League side Manchester City, AfricanFootball.com can exclusively report today.

“Kelechi is in England to do his medical before he signs for Manchester City,” a proud Chidiebere informed AfricanFootball.com

The exciting midfielder, who styles his game after that of Cote d’Ivoire skipper and City star Yaya Toure, is expected to sign a pre-contract for the blue half of Manchester before he is eventually given a pro deal.

Chidiebere, who has joined the Nigeria U-20 team ahead of next month’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, already has a contract with City but has been shipped out on loan to Malaga for the next two and half years.

Last month, younger brother Kelechi Nwakali led the Golden Eaglets to qualify for this year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

“Kelechi has developed very well within a short space of time,” remarked his older brother.

“He is very confident on the ball, while I am a lot more aggressive.”

Chidiebere’s older brother has also only recently attended trials at Nacional of Uruguay.
