    Police arraign man for ‘bullying’ MC Oluomo on Social Media

    Operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) have arraigned a man, Lawal Johnson, before the Federal High Court, Lagos, over alleged cyberbullying the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo).

    Johnson was docked before Justice Deinde Dipeolu in a two-count charge marked FHC/L/724c/2025.

    An aide to the NURTW President alleged that Johnson is behind the social media account bearing “Olus Bolkas,” used to publish disparaging materials against Akinsanya.

    The prosecutor, S. A. Adebesin, told the court that the offences were committed between July and August this year, at Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area.

    According to Adebesin, the defendant and others still at large allegedly used his social media handle to send voice and video messages in which he called the complainant several “unprintable names.”

    Johnson was further alleged to have subjected Akinsanya to ridicule, insult, injury, enmity, hatred, ill will, emotional and psychological abuse.

    The prosecutor said the offences contravened Section 24 (1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended in 2024), and Section 14 (1) of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act, 2015.

    The charge partly reads: “That you, Lawal Johnson ‘m’, and others at large, sometimes in July/August 2025 at Oshodi/Isolo Local Govt Area of Lagos State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did knowingly and intentionally send voice and video messages through your social media handle via your phone number: 07069981199 and other outlets to disparage, ridicule, insult, ill will and cause criminal intimidation to the person of one Musiliu Akinsanya ‘m’, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 24 (1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015 as amended in 2024.”

    When the charges were read, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

    His lawyer informed the court that a bail application had been filed and served on the prosecution. Adebesin confirmed service and stated that he was not opposing the application.

    Justice Dipeolu subsequently granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum, among other conditions.

    The defendant will, however, remain in custody until the bail terms are perfected.

    The case was adjourned till October 15 for trial.

    Man arraigned for alleged cyberbullying of MC Oluomo

    A 51-year-old man, Lawal Johnson, has been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged cyberbullying of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) National President, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

    The defendant appeared before Justice Deinde Dipeolu on a two-count charge filed by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID) Annex, Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos.

    In the case marked FHC/L/724c/2025, the prosecutor, S. A. Adebesin, stated that the offences occurred between July and August 2025 in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

    Johnson allegedly used his social media accounts, linked to his phone number 07069981199, to send voice and video messages containing insulting and disparaging remarks against MC Oluomo.

    The prosecutor told the court that the defendant’s actions intentionally subjected MC Oluomo to ridicule, emotional and psychological abuse, and disparagement.

    The charges read: “That you, Lawal Johnson, and others at large, sometimes in July/August 2025 at Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State, knowingly and intentionally sent voice and video messages through your social media handle via phone number 07069981199 and other social media outlets to disparage, ridicule, insult, and intimidate Musiliu Akinsanya, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 24(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015 as amended in 2024.

    “That you, Lawal Johnson, and others at large, at the same time and location, knowingly and intentionally sent messages through your social media handle to cause ridicule, insult, injury, enmity, hatred, ill will, and emotional/psychological abuse to Musiliu Akinsanya, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 14(1) of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act, 2015.”

    Johnson pleaded not guilty to the charges, after which the prosecutor requested a trial date.

    The defendant’s lawyer said a bail application had been filed and served on the prosecution.

    Adebesin confirmed receipt and stated he had no objection to the bail request.

    Justice Dipeolu granted Johnson bail for N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

    ‘Consider KWAM1’s legacy’, MC Oluomo appeals to Tinubu, Keyamo to lift ban

    National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), MC Oluomo, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to pardon Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, over alleged breaches of aviation regulations and disrupted airline operations.

    Kwam 1 was recently placed on a six-month no-fly list by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, following an incident where he allegedly brought alcohol on board a ValueJet Airlines flight from Abuja to Lagos, sparking an altercation with a flight attendant.

    In his plea on Instagram, MC Oluomo likened Kwam 1’s situation to the biblical prodigal son, emphasising the musician’s apology and willingness to make amends.

    He urged President Tinubu to exercise mercy, considering Kwam 1’s legacy and dedication to the nation.

    MC Oluomo respectfully requested that the Director-General of the NCAA, Capt. Chris Najomo and Minister Festus Keyamo consider lifting the ban imposed on Kwam 1 and the pilot involved.

    He wrote, “A Plea for Mercy: An Appeal for Leniency on Behalf of Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1)

    “To His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers of Nigeria (NURTW), humbly and fervently appeal to you to exercise mercy and forgiveness towards Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1). Like a prodigal son, K1 has acknowledged his mistakes, is sincerely apologetic, and is willing to make amends.

    “I respectfully and earnestly request that the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, considers tempering justice with mercy by lifting the ban imposed on K1 and the pilot, Oluranti Ogoyi, following the incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s local wing in Abuja.

    “On behalf of K1, I extend unreserved and heartfelt apologies to the CEO of Value Jet, Mr. Kunle Soname, the staff, the pilot, and the general public. We acknowledge K1’s wrongdoing and deeply appreciate his 50-year contributions to Nigeria’s growth and the promotion of Yoruba culture worldwide.

    “I plead with the authorities to accept K1’s apology and show mercy, considering his legacy and dedication to the nation. May wisdom guide your decisions, and may we not throw away the baby with the bathwater. Mercy and forgiveness will not only bring solace to K1 but also uphold the values of compassion and humanity.

    “Thank you for considering this appeal. God bless you. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

    NURTW President hails Abia govt for reinstating union activities

    The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo) has expressed gratitude to Abia Governor, Alex Otti, for reinstating the activities of the union in the state.

    The Abia State Government In a letter dated July 15, 2025, signed by the Commissioner for Transport, Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, clarified that the NURTW “is not banned from operating in Abia State” and is now “permitted to operate in all government-designated parks and terminals across the state.”

    The letter is titled: “Reinstatement and Operational Authority of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Abia State.”

    Alhaji Akinsanya described the governor’s action as “visionary, inclusive, and bold move.”

    He said: “The development marks the end of a long and challenging period of absence, and we are especially grateful that after over three and a half years of being unable to operate in Abia State. Our union is now fully reinstated and authorized to function in all government-designated motor parks and terminals across the state.

    “We are immensely grateful to His Excellency for restoring our rights and dignity. This is a testament to your commitment to democratic governance and peaceful industrial relations.”

    He thanked Dr. Ukaegbu for his administrative foresight and dedication to stakeholders’ engagement.

    According to the NURTW chief, special appreciation extended to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters for his continued mediation and support throughout the reinstatement process.

    Akinsanya assured the Abia State Government of the union’s commitment to discipline, orderliness, and cooperation with all relevant agencies.

     “We see this reinstatement not just as a right restored, but as a responsibility to serve better. The union also pledged to align with the administration’s developmental agenda by ensuring safe, structured, and efficient transport services across the state. This is a new beginning for us in Abia, and we do not take it for granted. We’re promising to uphold professionalism and community service in all its activities,” he said.

    Actress Aisha Lawal has denied she received a Venza car from MC Oluomo, the national president of the NURTW. 

    In an interview on Biola Bayo’s podcast, she claimed the allegation might be a setup. Though she expressed respect for MC Oluomo, she didn’t receive any car from him.

    She said: “I wonder if it was a setup or if the man smoked weed to claim that MC Oluomo collected Venza from him and gifted me. I have regard for MC Oluomo because he has done so much for people that I know. But I did not collect any car from him.

    Go compete with my children, MC Oluomo defends ‘Kundus’ comment

    President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) MC Oluomo has responded to criticism over mispronunciation of the word “kudos” as “kundus.” 

    In a viral video on Tuesday, Akinsanya addressed union delegates, saying he’s aware of the jokes at his expense but remains unfazed.

    He acknowledged his limited formal education, noting that while he may struggle with English, he takes pride in his children’s success, who are citizens of the US and UK. 

    Akinsanya emphasised his achievements, despite humble beginnings, stating he started as a bus conductor but worked his way up to become NURTW’s national president.

    Oluomo said: “If you and my children come out to express yourself, I’m not sure you can beat them, they are highly educated. I trained my children properly with money. My children are citizens of America and the United Kingdom. I worked hard to get there.

    “‘Kundusi!’ What happened? Grammars are too much. Grammar won’t finish Nigeria, I might not understand the English language, but I understand Yoruba.

     “I started as a bus conductor, then as a treasurer of a unit of NURTW, to unit chairman, to branch deputy treasurer, to branch treasurer, to branch chairman, to state chairman, and then to national president. I worked hard to get here. I am not educated.

    “So they are mocking me for saying ‘kundusi’, is my child not Qudus? You that you are educated, what did you do?”

    His comment came after a previous viral clip in which he mistakenly used “kundus” while attempting to applaud the efforts of union members in Abuja.

    With the inauguration of Osun State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), by the National President, Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo, the state government yesterday abolished the Park System.

    Governor Ademola Adeleke in January 2023 disbanded NURTW and replaced it with Park Managers headed by Wakeel Nurudeen.

    Commissioner for Transportation, Sesan Oyedele, said in a statement that the abolishment of Osun Transport Management System (OSTMS) was to ensure peace and unity.

    Tolling highways, a welcome development, says MC Oluomo

    The president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo), has described the federal government’s decision to toll some highways as a welcome development.

    Akinsanya said it would enhance the maintenance of the roads and make them last longer.

    According to Akinsanya, tolling of highways is not synonymous with Nigerian alone, stating that highway tolling is a norm in some advanced countries he has visited.

    The NURTW boss urged the federal government to place adequate security on those roads for the safety of road users and workers.

    He solicited that commercial buses should be given subsidized rates if the government cannot include them among the categories of vehicles exempted from the tolling.

    The categories of vehicles exempted from the tolling include security, diplomatic, ambulances, and tricycles.

    Akinsanya called on the government to re-invest funds generated from the tolling to build more highways and renovate existing ones.

    The Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, yesterday, said the toll order fee schedule for Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafayette-Makurdi Federal Highway has been designated as follows: cars-N500; SUV Jeep-N800; minibuses N1000, and multi-axle vehicles, trucks and buses N1600.

    However, frequent road users like the commercial light vehicles defined under the Federal Highways Act, will enjoy a 50 percent discount.

    Authorized vehicles, pedal vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, and other modes of two or three-wheel transport used by mainly disadvantaged populations will be offered a 100 percent discount.

    NURTW: Appeal Court did not nullify MC Oluomo’s election

    Contrary to the earlier reports, the Southwest Coordinator of Elders’ Forum of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Moshood Ajao, has said that Appeal Court did not nullify the election of Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo) as the union’s national president.

    Ajao, in a statement, explained that Alhaji Akinsanya was elected at the Zonal Delegates Conference of NURTW held in Osogbo on November 9, 2024, and was never a party to any court proceedings.

    According to him, Akinsanya neither filed nor was part of the appeal that was described as devoid of merit.

    He explained that the Appeal Court judgment was delivered in Abuja on November 8, 2024, while the Zonal Delegates Conference held in Osogbo was conducted on November 9, 2024.

    Ajao said members of the NURTW, particularly delegates at the conference, and Alhaji Akinsanya, were not aware of any judgment when the election was conducted.

    He said Akinsanya was neither a petitioner nor a defendant in the said case.

    Ajao explained that the decision to elect Akinsanya as President of the NURTW was to achieve peace in the union as he was not a party to any litigation and crisis of leadership in the NURTW.
